Nodblog.com
editHello. You have recently marked for speedy deletion one of the articles i have created. I know it looks spammy :( I'm sorry for making the article with so many links to my website. The content and website description i've written though is detailed and true. I would like you to reconsider the deletion of Nodblog.com, i promise i will delete (or you can allso delete i think) all the links to my website except one external link. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Stegre3 22:19, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Murray Stewart Wilson
editany reason for recommending Murray Stewart Wilson for deletion? He is clearly a major figure in his field and significantly greater internationally than the pianists and writers and rugby players inhis alumni groups. He was even awarded the Iraq Madal, issued by the queen for service. I see you are Irish and may not be a monarchist but his stature in his field is without question. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Muzzamemphis (talk • contribs)
I have added a few embedded links to some of the various organisations he has worked for, do you have any other suggestions for how I could further "reference" this page? Sorry to take up your time.
Will the "unreferenced" box at the top of my page disappear automatically or do you have to remove it?

please can you help me urgently, someone is trying to delete my page but I cant get in contact with him to try and stop him, I dont know why he wants to delete me. Can you please help me...
Robert Saxon page
editSorry to trouble you again Michael but there's a guy who seems to have it in for me. he keeps tagging my entry as a fan site, overly harshly harshly criticising it and now has marked it for deletion. I have no idea what to do. His reasons seem to be that he has never heard of my subject, but I could happily say that of many people in the sections connected with British Arts.
I'm a tad concerned. i know it wouldn't be the end of the world but it does rather seem to be a personal vedetta by someone with obviously far more control and ability over the page than me.
I'd appreciate any advice you could give me in resolving this. Jeri JeriHayes 02:41, 2 February 2007 (UTC) JerichoHayes@aol.com
change of username?!?!?
editHi LittleOldMe,
Just wondering if it is possible to change my username to something different - this appears to be largely frowned upon, but how would I go about doing this, and how would I show people that I was the same person? Any info on this would be great, thanks.
Wookiepedia
editI was curious about any kind of a position open in the Wookiepedia. I am a little bit of a Star Wars fanatic and would love to help out the site, seeing as how much I check up on it. Just let me know of anything I can help with.
Prince of Wales
edit[1] you are revert my edit. That information , who I delete, is in article about Prince of Wales exactly here and here. In every article about ship (in ex. HMS Howe and HMS Anson) are SHORT information about ship - no long text, only short information. I still think that my edit is good and you revert is bad. --Pmgpmg 15:42, 14 February 2007 (UTC) PS. Sory form my english - if i translate to polish i can understand 98 % words. If I wrote, I am like a small children.
- As you are my favorite (because only who i know :) ) admin on en wiki I have a request for you. Can you move that site here ? Every ship has something like disambiguation in site who was named HMS XXXX or USS XXX. Exaple : HMS Howe, List of United States Navy ships, A. In that last site you see that all name of ship who was given two or more ship has article who has name like USS XXX. If you see interwiki of HMS Hood (disambiguation) you will see that every wiki has article HMS Hood, not HMS Hood (disambiguation). in en wiki AFAIK is a rule who say: article about name of ship was in article HMS XXX not HMS (disambiguation). And that who say "Given that most references to "HMS Hood" will be to the battlecruiser sunk by the Bismarck, should this page be moved to HMS Hood (disambiguation) and the current title redirect to HMS Hood (51)?" make a wrong. Most known HMS Prince of Wales ship is HMS Prince of Wales (1939). But en wiki has a article HMS Prince of Wales. Not HMS Prince of Wales (disambiguation). --Pmgpmg 01:04, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

editYou don't even understand the issue here. Do you realize that there is currently an RfA between Armenian and Azeri users? Parishan is trying to make things worse. -- Aivazovsky 14:09, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- This message was in response to my message to Aivazovsky:
- I am rather disconcerted to see that your edit history indicates point of view pushing. If you can back up a different (or more neutral) point of view with adequate references then that is an acceptable edit. To blindly remove a well written and referenced edit is not acceptable. Regards LittleOldMe 13:59, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- To which I replied:
- Perhaps I do not have a full understanding of all the issues, but your edits did your cause no favours. As a neutral observer, I rated Parishan's edits to be sound because of the good use of references. If Parishan is being selective about what he discloses using this referenced material then you have the right to challenge these opinions using alternative references.
- Your action of labeling good faith edits as vandalism, and wholesale deletion has caused you to appear to be the aggressor. Wikipedia is not a battleground for settling ethnic differences. Regards LittleOldMe 14:24, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

editIf you haven't seen this trolls recent activity, please check. He's hardly shown signs of quitting, even after warnings from 3 or 4 users. If anything it's provided him with the fuel to attack those users. I agree my explaination was unnecessary for him, but I disagree that it was "feeding" him anymore than the warnings. He's already been reported and since the report he's probably vandalized 2 or 3 times (not 2 instances, but 2 or 3 multiplied by the initial disruption) more than before the report. editSorry, I'm not a regular user of Wikipedia. The person I'm "engaged" with only thinks that one fansite is worth linking to; incedentally this is a site which he is staff on. Please advise 84.68.88.215 14:02, 13 August 2007 (UTC) (for what it's worth)
- I would like to point out that the member above simply has a personal grudge against BZPower. Though I admittedly do not know exactly who they are, but based on the other links they continue to add, which are sites with many members that hate BZP (Not all, though. I'm actually a member of all three sites.), I have made this conclusion. And my being a staff member has nothing to do with my opinion on the matter.
- The link to BZPower should stay because it is the largest BIONICLE fan site and has been acknowledged by the LEGO company several times because of it. Thanks for the note. Questions...
editI went through the tutorial... or I tried anyway. I'm not sure absorbtion was that great.
I don't see how I can edit my own user discussion page (like I'm doing here on yours). I didn't find an edit link. I'm wondering if that's because the user page itself doesn't exist yet.
On another subject, I tried to add internal links to a page for a couple unlinked terms. When I did this following the model for the other linked items in the list (and as far as I can tell, per the tutorial), the result was unsatisfactory and I undid it. I was, perhaps, too bold, but it just seemed both obvious and easy... ha ha. So I got a link, of sorts, but it was red (hmmm, wrong color... wonder why?) and when I followed it, I didn't get to the internal page I was headed for. The link said something like "edit" at the end. So hmmm, syntax error? so I tried using the linking tool in the tool bar... with no better results. Alas, igonorance won that round.
Also, I found duplicate pages with slightly different names, layout, content. I put a remark in the discussion page of each, but fixing this is beyond my ken at the moment. I'm imaging there's a better approach to this, but not sure what that might be.
Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pearrari (talk • contribs) 19:03, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
User wanted their name and info out of this post
Could someone neutral please take control of this article, reprint it properly, and lock it so that I can be assured that no one will have access except Wiki editors? Otherwise, I am afraid this page will be a constant source of trouble for all of us.
There are numerous newspaper and magazine articles about this trial where an unbiased writer could glean information. Melanie McGuire was also the subject of magazine shows such as 48 Hours and Dateline, as well as trial coverage on Court TV. I am at my wits end with these people and I don't want to seek legal representation if I can avoid it.

Dear LittleOldMe,
Thank you so much for you note to me. Very kind. I am TOTALLY NEW to Wikipedia and have honestly been struggling for days to get going with my little article on : André Fauteux.
At this point I am trying to improve the article.
QUESTIONS:
1.. Mainly now I am trying to link to my references. So far I have discovered that these are called: 'External links' if they are outside of the Wikipedia domain or 'Internal links' if inside of Wikipedia. Is that correct?
2. How do I add and 'IBID' to a source I have already added?
3. I realize that my article needs to be wikified.

Reverting
editThanks very much for your welcome message. Although I am cited in many places on Wikipedia, including an accurate entry on me, I have deliberately refrained from posting anything until now. So, yesterday I added an accurate paragraph on Anna, Illinois (which prompted your welcome message). Today it is gone.
I know why. It tells an uncomplimentary fact about Anna. But the paragraph is accurate and footnoted. So what do I do now? Surely Wikipedia does not all uncomplimentary information excised! Imagine an entry on Bill Clinton that did NOT mention that he fooled around with an intern! or on Adolf Hitler that did NOT mention that he acted against Jews and Rom people!
I put the paragraph back and in the talk page asked that it not be changed, since it is footnoted. I do not think it will last 24 hours.
Please do advise me what to do about this. Thank you! Jloewen (talk) 13:13, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

(If it is that my addition seems outlandish, please note: I have uncovered hundreds of "sundown towns" across the U.S. -- everywhere but in the traditional South. My recent book on the subject, SUNDOWN TOWNS, won two honors and is spawning a host of scholars involved in the subject. The research, although startling, seems solid. editI am the author of the wiki article Roanoke Smphony Orchestra, which was speedily deleted. The reason specified for deletion is copyright infringement. Furthermore, I am a staff member (and webmaster) for the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra site, www.rso.com. What do I need to do to be able to have the wiki article revived? Hi there. Just FYI, I declined the speedy deletion request on the above article as it does expressly assert notability by pointing out the artist had signed with and apparently released albums on a couple of major record labels, as well as the claims of touring with numerous major artists. It needs to be sourced, still, but the claims of notability are pretty strong. If you feel it's still not enough, I'd suggest taking it to AFD. Cheers! Tony Fox (arf!) 17:32, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: Image for deletion
editThanks for your note on Image:Stephen Daly.jpg. That does clear it up a bit for me - I was unsure whether the image was uploaded for use in an article or just perhaps for the person's userpage.
Wikipedia's image policy is convoluted and parts of it are quite controversial. So, trying to get a handle on the whole thing is really tough - I doubt there are that many people who completely understand all of the ins and outs (and I won't say I'm one of those). So, you are definitely not alone in being puzzled.
Anyway, just being an unused image is not grounds for speedy deletion. If it was a fair use image, then the rules would be different, as having a fair use license requires that the image actually be used. However, Proevmaster says the image is self-made, which probably takes away that concern. If you have any indication that the image was not actually self-made, then it should be tagged as a suspected copyright violation, but I don't think that's your concern.
Even though the uploader says the image is self-made, he did not provide proper licensing info. So, if no one does anything else, the bots will get it and the image will be deleted for not having licensing info. If you want to speed up the process, you can always list the image at WP:IFD.
Does that answer you concerns? Feel free to drop me a note if you have other questions.--Kubigula (talk) 14:29, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Redirects are cheap
editReally, unless there's a genuine need to delete a redirect, or it violates important policy or is a ridiculously implausible typo or something, we might as well keep it. No harm done.
It's also possible that someone will see this person's name, Funmi Iyanda, think "I'll look them up on Wikipedia," mistake the I for a lowercase l, and come up with nothing. It's not likely, but it's plausible, and hey, Mxl did it, so who's to say someone else won't?
Regarding this: "why is there no redirect from lan Player to Ian Player or from lams to Iams (or at least a disambiguation mention)?" The answer is, because nobody's created them. This is a wiki after all :P
Oh, and one other thing, you didn't create Funmi Lyanda, Mxl did, so G7 doesn't actually apply, even though you're listed as the first contributor to the page. Thanks. --Closedmouth (talk) 15:58, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

editI admit that I engaged in vandalism on the Colorado Avalanche page, however your warning came after a change I made today. Can you please tell me which form of Vandalism (according to wikipedia's page on wiki vandalism) I am purported to have done today on the orlando magic page. I simply stated that Coach Stan Van Gundy bears a resemblence to actor Ron Jeremy. Most people would agree with me that this is completely true.
This in no way consitutes any of the types (as defined on the wiki vandalism page:
if you could please define it, so That I can avoid commiting vandalism in the future, that would be great. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.105.216.30 (talk) 16:49, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- IMHO you're a coward with your anonymous contributions and very counter-productive contributions.
Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia. The most common types of vandalism include the addition of obscenities or crude humor, page blanking, or the insertion of nonsense into articles.
You did no such thing as stating resemblance, you replaced the man's name by "porn star Ron Jeremy". As a Dutch citizen with no knowledge of any American sports I still find this worse than vandalism. Together with your other childish acts I hope that the moderators will (be able to) ban you for life.Maggy Rond (talk) 10:52, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, you certainly need to stop making assumptions about what you are reading. I did change the page to say that he resembles Ron Jeremy. Hi, at the moment the problem is that it just says "he was a missionary who went to a few countries and wrote a book" - if you at least say why the book is important, that may help. Is it the only book to cover a certain issue, a seminal book in its field...? The second problem is the Plymouth Brethren page has a load of unimportant missionaries, which makes the whole 'notable' section a joke and less useful to the reader, so it would be nice to cull a few:) Malick78 (talk) 17:34, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

You recently rejected some of my edits on the 'Moneybookers' entry and I wondered if it may be possible to make some factual changes to the page. It seems however that I have lost the ability to propose edits. Can you help??

My entry on a website Study Guides and Strategies was marked for speedy deletion by CobaltBlueTony™ and despite documentation has not had any response for over one month. Golden Cygnet
editHi there,
Has taken me months to figure out how to send you a message! I find it all so complicated.
I wrote an article on a racehorse called Golden Cygnet which someone has since kindly broken down with various headings. I would have done it myself but I have no idea how to do it. Today, I uploaded a photograph of the horse which I took myself 30 years ago. However in trying to add it to the article, I have seemingly added a big blank piece of nothing which distorts the page and I have no idea how to undo it.
I would be obliged if you could guide me in the right direction as to how to reset the page and add the photograph. Remember that anything remotely complicated will go in one ear and out the other! I enjoy writing articles but do not understand a word of Wikepedia Help and as such have no idea who to break down an article under various headings or add photos etc. If you could do this for me it would be great.
I hope that you get this message as I don't see a 'send' button anywhere!
Many thanks,
Shalakhani Shalakhani (talk) 12:54, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

My most recent (and first) page
editThanks for the welcome; I wondered why TNS Records weren't on the Punk Labels page and ended up creating a full entry! Only two referrences at present, but I'll get more (I need to track them down, I'm a fan not a stalker!). Hope it passes the notabilty constraint, there are certainly smalley DIY labels on here so I think it should be okay. Mozza1979 (talk) 15:04, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
help - sorry i'm having trouble
editHi There,
I'm trying to get this right, and appreciate your feedback on the douglas september page.
I noticed you indicate sources are required, can you be more specific? I added references, is this sufficient.
Also trying to fix the images. Sorry I am having so much trouble -- getting it :)
Thanks for your help. --Nikkeynikkey (talk) 15:58, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

What is the point of a hangon feature if these admins not only delete the article along with the "hangon" tag but the "talk" in which you are editing/ adding criteria to contest the appropriate disposition regarding said article?
I was trying to make a post and within 4 minutes everything was deleted in an almost vulture like demeanor. I did not even have sufficient time to build a talk in which to contest the speedily deletion tag... Purpleisugly (talk) 02:10, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

editIts a link to a good current events page. I dont feel this should be deleted. Its not a .org domain, but I could just purchase one and place a redirect. This isnt over promotion at all. Removed prod from Dave London because the author objected, is now at AFD
editI have removed the {{prod}} tag from Dave London, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. I have nominated the article for deletion instead; the debate may be found at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dave London, which overrides the need for a {{prod}} tag. I have explained my reasons for doing this in my nomination. Thanks! -- Atamachat 21:12, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Re: Recent warnings
editHi there. There is no policy per say, but it here:
For example, {{test1}} is appropriate for someone who adds "Hi Joe!" to a page, whereas a rapid multiple-revert vandal should only be given one warning ({{test4}}).
Thanks, — Cargoking talk 12:27, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Keosaychay Sayasone
editCan you clarify how removing sources from Keosaychay Sayasone and adding information that is only tangentially related to Keosaychay is a beneficial edit? In the current condition of the article, I don't even think it should continue to exist as a stand-alone article. —C.Fred (talk) 20:44, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- Also, what message would be preferable to a level 1 warning in this case? That's the "you acted in good faith, but…" tier of messages—in this case, as specifically noted, for deleting references. —C.Fred (talk) 20:50, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- I guess we agree to disagree here. I prefer to explain why I reverted—which was more for the deletion of the sources than the addition of the tangential text, so I felt {{uw-delete1}} did explain the revert sufficiently. —C.Fred (talk) 20:57, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Proposal For Article To Be Restored After Editing
editThank you for your interest in the article on Finance Director in the UK.
Kindly permit me to defend this article. As at the 18th of February 2010, there were several companies listed on the Finance Director wiki page and no weblinks at all to the recently included eFM company(ref para 3 and 16), so no deliberate promotion of that one site. Several companies were mentioned in the UK providing similar services, however in the entire article there were only two mentions of the company.
Editing:
1. Only one mention of the company will be found in the main article and one in its proper category.
2. To provide verifiable sources, there will now be links/references to awards and accolades showing evidence of performance including The Rising Stars Business Excellence Awards, Barclays Britain's Best Local Business(Nominee), The Open University, The University Of Buckingham Research, Cambridge Network, Knowledge Network - University of Bedfordshire and the EFM site, as well as articles contributed to Business Focus, Crains Manchester Review, The Venturer amongst others.
I commit to making these changes immediately before restoring.

Kenilworth, IL
editHi, my name is Josh Doppelt. I have updated important historical information on Kenilworth, IL multiple times. Vandals delete my contributions shortly after each addition. This has happened about four times now. I have good information, accurate history, well written, and footnoted additions. Could you put it up in such a way that it cannot be repeatedly taken down by vandals? I re-submitted the information to the Kenilworth page today. This is the Keniworth page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenilworth,_Illinois#History My additions are under the Reputation and History sections. The information added is under footnotes 8,9,10,12.
Thanks

A Price Above Rubies
edit1. Not all versions are the same. The New International Version says "A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies."
It is a Jewish Hasidic movie, if anything it should have the Jewish version, which is the original. http://www.hareidi.org/bible/Proverbs31.htm#20
2. Why should a quote from a critic be removed because he no longer works for the publication?
The link is not here, also there are 2 other reviews.
3. Why would Charles Taylor's wikilinks be removed? Do you feel that they link to the incorrect person?
They don't link anywhere, there is no article for him.
4. What is wrong with the UK English spelling? See Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#National_varieties_of_English for guidelines.
Did not realize UK English was fine, it's OK with me.
5." difficult to conform to the restrictions imposed on her by the Hasidic community of her husband, played by Glenn Fitzgerald"
5a) "of her husband" - She grew up Hasidic, it is not the community of her husband, its hers as much as its his. 5b) "imposed on her" - It's the restrictions of the community. She grew up Hasidic her whole life, it's not like they just "imposed" it on her.
Please add back "young woman who finds it hard to adhere to the restrictions of the Hasidic community where she lives" or something like it as it is more accurate.

Note about non-Latin usernames
editHi there. I saw your recent report at UAA, and I just wanted to let you know that non-Latin usernames are welcome and allowable under the username policy. A username using, for example, Cyrillic or Japanese characters wouldn't be a username violation, assuming the username doesn't translate to something offensive or otherwise disruptive. I have blocked the user you reported, but it was for reasons unrelated to the username. I added information regarding how Janesville, WI has been labeled as a confirmed sundown town by Sociologist James Loewen. The changes were recently taken down, and I am wondering if there is a way for me to get those changes locked in. If you need it, I can provide a copy of the changes I made.

New deal for page patrollers
editHi LittleOldMe,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:28, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
