Request for investigation

edit

Hi Lmblackjack21. I notice that you added a request for investigation. That page is only for very specific cases, as described by the page's guidelines. Your alert would be better placed on Administrator intervention against vandalism (WP:AIV), where it will usually be processed within minutes. Many alerts that are incorrectly placed on Requests for investigation are never dealt with, simply because they become old before an administrator gets to them. Thanks for your efforts. :) // Pathoschild (admin / talk) 19:03, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Your suggestion at Talk:Neopets

Hi! Just so you don't think it disappeared, I moved your comment towards the bottom of Talk:Neopets; please put new messages at the bottom where people are more likely to notice. :) Happy editing! —AySz88\^-^ 16:22, 3 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Neopets

edit

I believe the add is appropriate due to the neoboard section not being explained very well, even though it is one of the "most popular places" on the site. Hello32020 01:02, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well the descriptions of the specific boards. Although I believe that text takes up more space in the article, due to the image being stored at it's respective location, and the text being stored in the actual article Hello32020 01:08, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your VandalProof Application

edit

Dear Lmblackjack21,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that not enough mainspace edits. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. re: HermitStory - withdrawal

edit

You could add a note, possibly striking through the original text, saying you withdraw the nomination. At some point an administrator would then close the AfD. Crystallina 00:12, 11 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

No really...

Look at the Johnny Depp article text. He was born in Kentucky. Syrthiss 15:47, 11 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry about that, I was reverting because the editor who reverted after me used incorrect formatting and messed up the infobox. Thanks for the Johnny Depp trivia! :) Lmblackjack21 15:49, 11 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Also, I reverted because the editor who reverted after me kept a piece about Depp dating a porn star, so I (incorrectly) assumed that he was vandalizing. Again, my apologies. Lmblackjack21 15:54, 11 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I saw that he did that...but he also took it back out. Not a prob. ;) Syrthiss 15:58, 11 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dear Person who reverted my edits. My name is Kate Fitz Gibbon. I am a board member of this organization, serving as its education coordinator. The ACCP no longer exists. The organization filed to close its charter as a non-profit organization in December of 2006. The previous text was libelous, false, and defamatory both of the organization and of individuals who were its members. The changes made were substantial because they were necessarily so in order to correct the numerous and eggregiously innacurate portrayals of the organization's goals and activities. Similar accusations were made on a University of Chicago listserve. If you check it, you will see that they are no longer there. Do not change my edits, please. If you have further concerns, you can reach me at fitzgika@law.unm.edu

Yes? Real96 00:57, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am not sure what policy is when it comes to the Vaggelis Koutsoures article--there is no text, just an infobox. Should I just add a 'needs to be improved' tag (I have no knowledge of this person, so I cannot improve the article)? --Lmblackjack21 00:59, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
You can expand the article, or list it for articles for deletion. I would suggest the first option, because the subject seems pretty notable. Sorry for the delay. Real96 03:12, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

IT just says to follow the majority. (I've pretty much only dealt with articles using American English, incidentally.) So, yeah, if it's already in English English, use English English. Sorry.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 03:09, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Brian Joubert sources

I was referring to in-line citations. The reason I used the template that refers to the article needing more sources is because you have clearly used some general sources already - • The Giant Puffin • 15:16, 7 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeah thats good. A few more and it should be upto a B-class article - • The Giant Puffin • 16:59, 7 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Misua photos

edit

In the Misua page, I removed some photos which were linked from external sites, and another user reverted my edit, saying that the photos were "helpful". Is it appropriate to upload the photos to the commons? I am uncertain as to the photos' licensing.

If it is published from a website or commercially produced, no. If it is produced by you and you agree to released the photos under GNU, then yes. Miranda 00:03, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the response, but I'm afraid my question was a bit vague. Basically, I am not sure what Wikipedia's policy is to linking to photos externally--would you happen to know?

Thank you, Lmblackjack21 00:08, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

See external links. Miranda 01:45, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Neopets controversy

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Neopets controversy, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Neopets controversy seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Neopets controversy, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 00:09, 16 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Crochet Page

edit

Awhile back, someone added a link to the Italic texttutorialItalic text section of my site, NexStitch, because it directly applies to the "Crochet" Wiki entry under the section, "Crochet tutorials and basic information." My site has free video TUTORIALS for learning crochet as well as free articles about BASIC CROCHET INFORMATION that one can download. That link existed for many months, even in between edits from various people including you, lmblackjack21. I'm confused as to why that would have changed as the site hasn't changed including the offered content as well as the link to the page (http://www.nexstitch.com/Tutorials.html)

Reading directly from Wiki's" external links page," NexStitch is a unique resource which is factual, useful, tasteful, relevant, and informative. People visit the site to learn new crochet techniques that cannot be discussed in the relatively brief entry provided by Wiki on crochet. There is zero intention to spam Wiki in re-adding this link back to the "Crochet" page, as mentioned in the history. It's simply to point people in the direction of a website which provides basic information which is easily accessible (and not under the guise of Flash pages, various link jumps, artificial registration requirements, redirects, objectionable advertising, etc).

EDITED TO ADD: Thank you for re-adding the link back! I appreciate it. I'm glad I'm not spam. LOL. :)

AfD nomination of Neopets controversy

edit

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
