Ways to improve Operation Larchwood 4
editHi, I'm JamesG5. LtSpecter, thanks for creating Operation Larchwood 4!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. This piece needs additional sourcing. Also is far too heavily detailed.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. JamesG5 (talk) 07:49, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
Reference errors on 3 November
editHello, I'm ReferenceBot. I have automatically detected that an edit performed by you may have introduced errors in referencing. It is as follows:
- On the 2003 invasion of Iraq page, your edit caused a broken reference name (help). (Fix | Ask for help)
Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, ReferenceBot (talk) 00:19, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
Battle of Kunduz and copyright
editWith regards to your edits to Battle of Kunduz here and here, the text you re-added was indeed a copyright violation of this New York Times article. It doesn't have to be a straight copy and paste, wording that is very similar to the source (close paraphrasing) is still at odds with the copyright policy. Some examples:
- "Hundreds of police officers and civilians who were taking refuge there airport were fleeing from the..." (WP) vs "Hundreds of police officers and civilians who had taken refuge at the airport were fleeing into the..." (NYT).
- "video-conference between the top Afghan general at the airport and General John F. Campbell" (WP) vs "videoconference with the top Afghan general at the airport and Gen. John F. Campbell" (NYT).
- "the Afghans also came up with a plan to seize what was believed to be the Taliban’s command center: the local headquarters of Afghanistan’s spy agency; the National Directorate of Security..." (WP) vs "The Afghans also came up with a plan to seize what was believed to be the Taliban’s command center: the local headquarters of Afghanistan’s spy agency, the National Directorate of Security" (NYT).
All of those are to varying extents copyright violations, and they were hardly the only ones. I hope this makes sense; if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. C628 (talk) 00:05, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for March 23
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Operation Anaconda, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page AFO. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Copyright problem on History of the United States Army Special Forces
editYour addition to the above article was very close to https://www.nythttp//mobile.nytimes.com/2016/05/09/world/asia/afghanistan-taliban-kunduz-doctors-without-borders-airstrike.html, a copyright web page. Copying text directly from a source is a copyright violation, even if you cite the source. You need to re-state things in your own words; simply changing a few words in a sentence is still a copyright violation if the structure of the sentence is preserved. This was detected by automatic plagiarism detection software. Unfortunately, for copyright reasons, the content had to be removed. Please leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions or if you think I made a mistake. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:09, 28 March 2017 (UTC)

Task Force 145
editWere you apart of this task force? If so, why would you take the 3-504 PIR off of this page? We lost 5 good men supporting this TF in Haditha/Haqlaniyah (October 3rd and 7th). Skinnermikesr (talk) 23:48, 9 June 2017 (UTC)
No I wasn't part of the TF but I have a lot of sources on it, it seems like the user:2601:6c5:8101:29fa:98af:23ea:5c94:99ed removed the information-which isn't me, I don't have anything on their contribution but if you have a reliable source then put the info back in the article. LtSpecter (talk) 14:45, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- Dear LtSpecter. Thank you for your detailed and well-referenced additions to the TF77/145/etc article. Would you kindly please lay out a detailed and referenced rationale for your article title move at the talk page? The title convention as the last known public identification of the Task Force has stood us happily since 2006, and your move now means we have introduced a wiki-only-title which has no referenced basis anywhere else. Kind regards Buckshot06 (talk) 11:51, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:47, 21 June 2019 (UTC)I have blocked your account, because in spite of repeated warnings, you continued to add copyright material to Wikipedia in violation of our copyright policy. Request reason:
I have read over the Copyright violations and the information provided in the summary about why those edits were a copyright violation, I haven't made consistent edits in the last year and was unaware that public domain sources had to be referenced like that. Now that I know, this will be avoided.LtSpecter (talk) 19:11, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
Decline reason:
In order to lift the block, we need to be certain that you understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. To allow the reviewing administrator to assess your understanding, please respond to the following questions in your next unblock appeal, explaining in your own words:
- What is copyright?
- How is Wikipedia licenced?
- Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
- Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
- How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?
Your answers will enable us to establish whether or not you should be unblocked. Yamla (talk) 20:23, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- I didn't notice the failure to provide attribution until after I blocked you. The violation of the copyright policy occurred on Pan Sahel Initiative (Diff of Pan Sahel Initiative), when you added material copied from Why Europe Intervenes in Africa: Security Prestige and the Legacy of Colonialism By Catherine Gegout, page 113.— Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:12, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
Your unblock request where you answered the questions above, contained copyright violations. As this was your opportunity to demonstrate you understood copyright and would not violate it in the future, this was a manifest failure. I have revoked talk page access. WP:UTRS remains open to you. --Yamla (talk) 21:52, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
