Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kenyan cricket team in Bangladesh in 2005–06, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mohammad Rafique. Speedy deletion nomination of Kunal Saikia

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Kunal Saikia requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. So it won't be finally deleted after the discussion has taken place after 7day's. John roger1 (talk) 21:57, 4 October 2015 (UTC) John roger1 (talk) 21:57, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Apostrophes

\Okay, Lugnuts - you might like to read This : "Decades are written in the format the 1980s, with no apostrophe. Use the two-digit form ('80s) only with an established social or cultural meaning. Avoid forms such as the 1700s that could refer to 10 or 100 years." Now, if you'll say that the manual of style is not infallible, we'll be in agreement, for once. But on THIS issue, it agrees with what I was taught at school (I realise that there are difference between countries, and even within countries, on the use of apostrophes). But when my edit FULLY complies with the manual of style, you are VERY mistaken to call it a "bad edit" or an "error." By the way, if you think your apostrophe usage is more "international" than my New Zealand-based usage, that's something you can discuss on the MOS talk page. In the meantime, let's follow the MOS, shall we? David Cannon (talk) 13:07, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

Film posters

Hi Lugnuts. You might consider using the template {{Non-free use rationale poster}} for your movie poster uploads. It works better because you don't end up with a bunch of half-empty fields in the rationale. There's an abbreviated version of this and several other handy templates in my templates file User:Diannaa/My Templates, all ready for quick copypasta. John Hawes (pentathlete)

Hey, Lugnuts. I recently came across this revert: [1]. Hawes was a Pan Am Games and World University Games medalist in swimming, who also swam in the '72 Olympics. He was a pentathlon competitor at the '76 Olympics. I would like to format the infobox so that it uses the same formatting as the other 200+ Olympics swimmers of Canada, including the flag icon for the "national team" parameter, etc. May I do so? I am not trying to be disruptive and I would appreciate it if you was assume good faith. Now that said, I have no doubt that this album will become worthy of an article, but it isn't ready yet. WP:NALBUMS states that "Notability aside, a standalone article is only appropriate when there is enough material to warrant a reasonably detailed article". There clearly isn't enough of that yet. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Please do not remove the retired template from my user pages

Please stop removing this template. WP:UP, our guidelines on user pages, which by definition has consensus, gives users wide latitude on what they have on their user pages. On the other hand WP:RETIRED is an essay with few contributions. The retired template has also had a limited number of edits. In the circumstances I feel WP:UP trumps the instructions in the template or that essay since I see no consensus for the latter. The discussion at AN/I you have linked is, I agree, relevant. However again the number of contributors was small and the conversation was mostly on gaming the system rather than the meaning of "retired", hence again I don't see a strong enough consensus to go against WP:UP given that I'm clearly not trying to game the system - as my statements on my pages make clear.

On a more personal note when I largely stopped editing wikipedia I debated what template to use. I decided retired was more appropriate as I am no longer involved in, and have no intention of being involved in again, admin work or copyright work, to the extent that queries about these past activities are likely to be left unanswered. I therefore feel that retired is likely to be less confusing to visitors to my page. I still hold that view, especially as the view you propose, does in my mind at least, go against the way "retired" is commonly used. Templates should be useful to all editors and I don't feel it appropriate that they rely on a subtle distinction that I suspect most editors aren't aware of - for example, I was not aware that some wikiepedians thought it should only be used in the way you propose. RfAs in WP:CENT per this RfC

Hi Lugnuts, the RfA was added to CENT per this previously closed RfC, which has recently been reopened. I understand the reason for removing it now though, as the RfC closure has been invalidated. Cheers -- samtar whisper 08:21, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

Thanks. I never read that RfC TBH. Seems to give undue weight to a single RFA, but feel free to revert it if you wish. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:28, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
Eh, I'll leave it be until people finish squabbling over the RfC closure. Personally I preferred something along the lines of "There are currently open Requests for Adminship" which would help mitigate the undue weight to one specific user -- samtar whisper 08:32, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
If we had more than one person a month, it wouldn't look like undue weight. But IMO such a concept doesn't exist outside the mainspace so the question is moot to me. --Izno (talk) 12:54, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

HTML in wikitext

Lugnuts, per your edits on Guy Lookabaugh, I was under the impression that wiki markup was preferred over HTML code, as per Help:HTML in wikitext. Am I missing something? Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 17:28, 20 December 2015 (UTC)

Kane Williamson

Hi,

I noticed you had removed Kane Williamson's name as captain. I would like to get your attention to articles on McCullum's retirement where it is mentioned that Williamson will lead in World T20.

Vic cricketers

I only just noticed, so congrats on finishing your project of creating an article for every Victorian first-class cricketer. Your work is much appreciated. Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 11:44, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

plse use edit summaries

Hey, i know you’ve been around for a while, if you could be so kind, can you toss in a small edit summary when you edit? I have nothing major against your 2 edits on the The Colors of the Mountain page which I enlarged today, but an edit summary would facilitate working through my watch list a lot. It's a simple form of paying respect to others...

"Honors" may sound odd. but I didnt choose "awards" on purpose, because not everything in the section mentions awards !

as far as your shoretning san sebastian film festival to san sebastian- i dont know, looks weird to me. --Wuerzele (talk) 21:14, 30 December 2015 (UTC)
