Hi there! Just wanted to suggest an edit to your Paul Marshall post! I’m Paul’s oldest son, Cameron just wanted to add that he was actually born in Dundee not Ghana though his dad was from Ghana. Cheers! Cammarshall2305 (talk) 18:30, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

Bertie Messitt

I edited the articles, some not touched for a decade, more than half stub articles, for half a dozen of the top runners who competed in the 1960 Olympic marathon in Rome, adding a good deal of material to some. After you edited Bertie's article, I noticed that you had been editing the article for years and was curious as to what drew you to it. He's only been dead for five years, but he stopped competing 51 years ago. Now you know what he looks like. I just added a link to the race that's almost ten minutes long, if you're interested. So I looked at your User page. I must admit I was absolutely staggered by the number of edits you've made. Anyway, thanks for your service, and for your sense of humor, which radiates from your User page. Activist (talk) 13:53, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

@Activist: - thanks for the kind words. For this individual, while I can't be 100% sure, I think I created it when his name was a redlink on the recent deaths page at the time (ties in with the DOD, and when I created it). I used to patrol the recent deaths page and create a quick stub for any Olympian. I've been working on missing Olympians as a whole for the best part of a decade. Glad you appreicate my humour, something that too many on here simply don't get. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:59, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
You're most welcome. I actually added a good deal to the articles on each of the six leaders who are in the photograph, plus Sergey Popov's as well, though I haven't created any. I also added a bit to Mohammad Gammoudi's article. I think he was in the Billy Mills film. As I was researching them, I also reviewed the article for Gaston Roelants. I had known a lot about his remarkable accomplishments including owning the one-hour-run track record for many years, but never realized that his longevity at top form was perhaps even more amazing. I met many of the pre-WWII runners, 60 years ago, including Lou Zamperini, but only knew of his running history. Until last year when I saw the film on HBO, I had no idea Lou had such extraordinary experiences. He crashed in a B-24 at sea, floated in a raft for almost seven weeks, survived strafing, was captured and held as a POW for over two years in Japan. I actually visited the airfield named for him in his hometown, Torrance, CA, a few times over the course of a few years, beginning in 2011, and then the last time not long after he died. If you haven't read his article, I think you'd enjoy it. Activist (talk) 14:29, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

Submission lists

I was doing some light research but was unable to find any reliable resource that would provide annual submission lists for Best Foreign Film Oscar, other than news articles for the last few years. I felt we should remove the broken References column from the List of countries by number of Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film, which I did, but it would be great to go back through the years and source the submissions as you have so valiantly done the last few years. But how to source older submissions? I tried but couldn't find much, for example, for the List of submissions to the 29th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. Any ideas? Jmj713 (talk) 17:31, 7 October 2017 (UTC)

While finding the old lists online can be tough, most of the individual titles can be sourced with some good searching in Google. There's usually someone who's done a retrospective of their country in this category and make mention of earlier (pre-internet) submissions. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:27, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

Hello Lugnuts. Since I know you're familiar with editing cricket articles, I'm also sure you're aware of this editor and how disruptive he's been since he joined Wikipedia. I only started watching his edits since his disruption on 2018 FIFA World Cup, a non-cricket article, but just recently, I noticed he's created multiple redlinks on random player articles, replacing valid links at times (certainly, there's no actual page to Batting all-rounder, for example.) May I ask that you please keep an eye on his editing? I can't keep up with his edits because of time zones (I'm normally asleep when Raiyan edits.) jd22292 (Jalen D. Blue Book

Hi User:Lugnuts, I've created an article for upcoming History series Blue Book, and had a few questions if you don't mind. Do you know if the genres in the infobox should be shown now or wait until the series airs, because the refs already call it sci-fi drama? And if the writer and director should be in the infobox? Because Den of Geek! ref said Stromberg would only direct the first two episodes, not the full ten. I know you do good editing for Twin Peaks, so thought you would be a good person to ask. Here are some more sources that could be used for article as well, [13], [14], [15], cheers. Theo (edits) 04:26, 28 October 2017 (UTC)

@Theo Mandela: - Sory Theo for not getting back to you sooner, I haven't forgotten about this. For the genre, as anything on WP, then a WP:RS will be needed to verify that. I'm not that familar with the rules around TV shows, but the {{Infobox television}} has more guidance on what should or should not be included. The most work I did on a TV episode was for the single greatest hour in TV history. Hope that helps. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:43, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
Cool, no worries. USA Today calls it sci-fi drama and Den of Geek! calls it fact-based drama, but since it's set in the 50s-60s, I've put it under period drama. I'll wait till it airs to change writer/director in infobox if they change with the episodes, cheers. Theo (edits) 20:01, 28 October 2017 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Tesa Vilar

The article Tesa Vilar has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable. Only appears to have raced one year. No significant wins

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

A user blanked the article which I restored and warned. Wiki smart12 then left a note on my talk page claiming to be Tesa Vilar asking it be removed. It didn't seem to meet notability, so I added a prod. I only noticed you had created the article after the fact. Otherwise, I would have queried you first. Also, since Tesa Vilar appears to no longer be racing, I added "former" to her status. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 20:08, 30 October 2017 (UTC)

DMY Date Updates

Hi. I have come to your talk page with the hope of saving you effort.

I see that you tend to trail behind my edits (as here) updating the DMY template to the current month. As a relative newbie, in comparison to your edit count, I want to make sure that I am not somehow inadvertently creating work for you in my edits. It seems inefficient that you need to do this sort of clean-up. Should editors like me be updating the DMY template every time they edit a page, or is this a personal wiki-gnome chore you do? Thanks. GetSomeUtah (talk) 20:02, 11 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi and welcome to WP. Short answer is that every page I create goes on my watchlist. There's a fair chunk of vandalism that creeps through (esp. low-value BLP stubs), and I check pretty much every edit to make sure they're not vandalism. As part of that check, some basic formatting cleans/updates are often made. BTW, I'm not saying your edits are vandalism at all. However, for a user-name I don't initially recognise, it's something I check as I go. Hope that helps. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:52, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Don't bother updating the template unless you really want to. It's something that gets done automatically when this script is run (at least I assume Lugnuts and I use the same script), not something that people generally do manually. Correct me if I'm wrong, Lugnuts. Jenks24 (talk) 09:42, 12 November 2017 (UTC)

@The Rambling Man: - Thats sounds a great idea. I was looking at her bio yesterday thinking it wasn't far off being promoted to at least a GA. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:38, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
They're a little over the top, granted, although they could very easily be cited via Statsguru, so perhaps let's start by doing that and then if there's a hue and cry about tables for such sparse records, we can "prosefy" it. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:48, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Adding Refree to the cricket structure below Umpires

Can we also add "| Refree = " to the cricket matches like we add Umpires etc.? Aditya tamhankar (talk) 11:15, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

No. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:38, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

Little Gandhi

I am working with the entire team. I am clearly connected with the picture. We want the poster up that you decided to delete. WHY DO YOU KEEP DELETING THAT POSTER and who has the conflict of interest? NOBODY ON THE TEAM HERE HAS ANY.

Stubbing my toe.

Why do you want me to stop indenting stubs? GoodDay (talk) 14:21, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

What possible benefit does it have? Sell it to me. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:23, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
It's visually more pleasing. GoodDay (talk) 14:36, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
So no benefits at all. Not sold. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:37, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
You're reverting on the basis of WP:IDON'TLIKEIT, then. GoodDay (talk) 14:40, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
No, as WP:IDON'TLIKEIT only applies to AfDs. This isn't an AfD. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:42, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
You haven't given a reason, other then just not liking it, though. GoodDay (talk) 14:52, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
The reason is it serves no purpose. There is no benefit to it. Now go find something more productive to do. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:54, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

Olympics

Do you happen to know what is the most complete database we have of Olympic athletes? I can't seem to find a majority of the athletes on the Olympic website. I see you use sports-reference, but is it actually a complete list or do they have only a majority of the competitors? Adamtt9 (talk) 16:03, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi. SR is complete as far as I know. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:04, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

Alright, thanks. Adamtt9 (talk) 16:05, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

Cam Wheatley redirect.

Sorry for the trouble with the edit Lugnuts. I was looking for a way to redirect users who only type “Cam Wheatley” into the google search engine, to get to where they’re looking, as it doesn’t get readers to the direct article. Any help would be much appreciated ✌️ Auscricket90 (talk) 12:45, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

help@google.com. Try that. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:02, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

The only way the Wikipedia page is able to show up is if you change the article name to Cam Wheatley. His common name still shows up as well. Are you able to change the heading for this page? Thanks for your help Auscricket90 (talk) 00:44, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

Yoshio Imuro

This one is actually named Yoshio Iimuro, and he has an article already. Did you want me to merge histories or just redirect it? —Xezbeth (talk) 19:04, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

@Xezbeth: - thanks for spotting that - I've just redirected it and added the infobox. Thanks again. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 19:06, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

Stanisław Kowal

Thanks for your care. Pro tip for the future, I suggest to add more information to your short stubs. Adding the birthplace is the very least you could do, since you're taking the information from Sportsrefence.com anyway. -- Darwinek (talk) 22:12, 26 December 2017 (UTC)

@Darwinek: - the very least I can do is create the article (with everything sourced, of course). I don't HAVE to do anything more. You don't seem to bother sourcing anything you add though. Why is that? You must be a special case. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:55, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
"You must be a special case"? Seriously? I strongly recommend you to stay civil. Reminding other users to add sources is one thing, calling them names is another. - Darwinek (talk) 20:17, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
@Darwinek: So what IS your reason for not sourcing text you add to articles, including a couple of BLPs I've spotted on my watchlist? Do those rules not apply to you? Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 20:24, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
Note that when Darwinek is confronted with their own incompetence, they naturally hide it by blanking the issue. However, the diffs will always be there, and will come in handy for the future. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 20:27, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
I wanted to add the reference later when I have more time in real life. Next time I will add them right away. Sorry for not doing that before. The sourcing rules apply to everyone of course. As for my talk page, it is my right to remove what I want from there. That is a rule that applies for everyone's own talk page. - Darwinek (talk) 20:36, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
@Darwinek: - that's great. Now stop being a WP:DICK and read WP:HOUND. Looks like something else you know nothing about. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:39, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
I am not singling you out and tracking your edits. I have subscription to new articles from several lists, including the Olympic athletes. You are doing a great job creating new articles on Olympic athletes, filling the gaps on WP. I am simply trying to add more info to some of them. Will always include sources there. Hope you will show a good faith and appreciate it.--Darwinek (talk) 12:19, 29 December 2017 (UTC)

Happy New Year, Lugnuts!

Template:2017–18 United Arab Emirates Tri-Nation Series

Hello there. And thanks for all your contributions. I just want to let you know that we can use LST wherever we need transclusion, see User_talk:Frietjes#About_the_template. So, all such templates (e.g. Template:2017–18 United Arab Emirates Tri-Nation Series) serves no real purpose and are just waste of space. We can just copy their markup into their respective sections in the articles. Your co-operation in this regard will be helpful. What are your thoughts on this? Störm (talk) 14:55, 31 December 2017 (UTC)

I create these for two main reasons: 1) They're used on at least two different articles (the tour itself, and the internatinal year page). And 2) It means all the fan-boys who are obsessed with updating tables, can do so on the template, without having dozens, if not hundreds of IP edits on the main article(s) to wade through to check for vandalism.
