What should be done about the match reports now?? They are terribly worded in their current version and way too lengthy containing all sorts of unnecessary stuffs!! What should we do next in context to this??? Cricket246 (talk) 15:53, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
May I advise you to read the source (sports-reference.com for example [1]) and actually use it when creating your stubs, rather than go for their total number. Cheers. Materialscientist (talk) 05:21, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Materialscientist: - feel free to expand the article at any time. Oh, you have. So what's the issue? Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 06:57, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
- The issue is that some editors, you included, don't seem to read the single, short reference that they use to create a stub article, and apparently compete against each other in the number of those templated stubs. I know, we are all volunteers, and do what we like to, but I though experienced contributors like you could do better. Sure, I can expand your stubs, and I do, but frankly I'm getting tired of this attitude to expanding Wikipedia. Materialscientist (talk) 07:27, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Materialscientist: well thanks for the lack of good faith. I do read each and every source (you say I don't - this is not true). "we are all volunteers" - nailed it in one. I volunteer my time to what I like doing, and bowing to your demands of what should be in article is not one of them. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:30, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
- Daniel Riedo - created by the great Materialscientist. One of many articles like this. And he has the nerve to tell me what to do. You couldn't make that shit up. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:12, 20 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi man, been a long time! He didn't even touch Cav, if you see on slomo. And why did they go from 30 secs docking to 80 points to out? Call me a conspiracy theorist, but they don't like him. Template deletion
Well done for listing all those templates. I've been around here a long time, but I don't have a clue how to do it, and was hoping someone community-minded would come along and do it for me! Johnlp (talk) 09:54, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

Question on film award sources
Hi Lugnuts, in many cases of past film festival awards, the most "reliable" sources I find are from the very organization that gave the awards. This may sound silly, but I am not sure if such sources are considered independent and therefore reliable, or even secondary. Of course it would be nice to have access to press releases of the times, but they are not alawys easy to locate online and I am not close to any library that would help. I have no intention of pushing the Cannes awards series to GAs :) , but still I wonder where we stand. Hoverfish Talk 23:48, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Hoverfish: - It's quite the opposite. If the official website has all the details, then that should be used as the main source to say X film won Y award. Take a look at 88th Academy Awards, for example. A Featured List, with the awards (ref #17) being sourced directly from the AMPAS website. Of course, you'll need other sources to expand on the coverage, etc. Hope that helps. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 06:45, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you, Lugnuts. this takes away the doubt I had. And yes, for supporting coverage or other side events, surely other sources are neeed. Cheers. Hoverfish Talk 00:55, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
Eduardo Risso article
Hi, I was wondering if you could help me with this article on artist Risso (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eduardo_Risso). I added a new picture to his infobox and suddenly the article has a template of "Expression error: Unexpected < operator" at the top, which I don't know how to fix. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.30.185.112 (talk) 09:49, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
Question
You do realize that ther are others as well who like to contrbute and make edits. You can allow them also. I do believe wikipedia is a free site and not under some ownership. Correct me if I am wrong. Ankur
- That is not a question. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:15, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
Ok let me re phrase. Not a question but still the thing remains. Could you allow other users to also contrbute. Not everyone has interests in vast majority of fields as you have so they would like to be useful in fields of there interest.

Hey is Á'tour also now included in international cricket? I see South Africa A tri-series being there. I guess it woulld be better if we don't keep that / such tours. next thing you know under 19's are also there.
Can the South Africa A Series be removed?
- No. It's a List A/first-class series. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:55, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
- So are we going to include all England Lions tours now ?
Kindly check the link below. No mention of SL Series. http://cricket.co.za/news/16578/CSA-announces-Bangladesh-Itinerary-for-action-packed-2017-18-season
Input appreciated
Hi Lugnuts, I am presently gathering notes to help me focus on introducing a project-wide discussion on film categorization. Betty Logan also expressed the view that we should have such a discussion. You know far better than me the main problems that our key members face in relation to categorization. I am focusing on general needs by going through archived discussions on categorization and past CFDs. If you wish to help me by adding your points, or commenting on mine, your input in User talk:Hoverfish/Sandbox will be most appreciated. Note that all of the items I am gathering do not have to be brought up, but rather I gather them to evaluate what is worth mentioning and how. Thank you. Hoverfish Talk 21:29, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks Hoverfish - I will take a look at this during the week. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:09, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

Cast section and character descriptions of Die Hard 2
There's an argument on Die Hard 2 about the cast section and character descriptions. A lot of film articles have character descriptions which I feel are very necessary, but that version of the cast section has been switched back and reverted by TheOldJacobite and Deloop82. It is on this section of the article's talk page. BattleshipMan (talk) 15:39, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

About sortable tables
Hi Lugnuts, I have written to you before about the use of tables in the awards articles. As I said, I'd rather we just kept them as lists, except for the table for the top prize of the Festival, but let's say their sortable property might come handy to the readers. But how? All the tabulated Berlin awards and the recent ones in Cannes have no sort keys. So if you sort by director they get sorted by first name and if by title, all the articles are on the way. I am determined to put correct sortkeys in all the tables in Cannes, but I think it would be fair if the person who makes them takes the time to place all the appropriate sortkeys in the English and in the Original titles and in all the names. I don't want anyone to bow to my demands, but I just don't feel its fair to make sortable tables where the sorting button doesn;t sort correctly. What do you think? Thanks. Hoverfish Talk 02:57, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Hoverfish. Agree that if it starts off with the correct sort, then it's easier to keep that style as the article grows, rather than adding it in after. It's a lot of work to do the latter, and it only really gets addressed if a) someone puts the time aside to do this or b) the article is up for FA/FL nom. One of the many thankless tasks on here! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:23, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
- I took the highlights off the articles. Since I started working on this series and before I move to the other awards, I keep trying to see what has been done in the later years and go with the grain. But I do see that some things have taken an incorrect course. If all these tables is how WP Film editors like, I won't be the partypooper, but I do mean to correct some things that are going wrong. And I try discussing, so any opposition is most welcome. Hoverfish Talk 20:12, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
Per IRC request
Flight Time is not always the most clear with his talk page responses. "Per IRC request" means that Flight Time received a request via WP:IRC to make a change to the article, and so he did. It's an unfortunate way to edit because it takes the collaboration process outside of the view of most Wikipedia editors, but it is not unheard of. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:26, 24 July 2017 (UTC)

Just wondering, shouldn't the flag be the flag of Northern Rhodesia, to reflect the article name? Can you change this? Thanks. Keep up the great work. Cacrats (talk) 18:32, 27 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Cacrats: - Thanks! Hmmm, not sure on this. The article for Flag of Northern Rhodesia shows an overlap of use in 1964, so I don't know which side of that split it falls. Also, I'm not 100% sure how the flags work in the Olympic infoboxes. Leave it with me - I'll take a look. Maybe also drop a note at WT:OLY too. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:35, 27 July 2017 (UTC)
Hi to you both, according to the official report in la84.org, independence occured on the final day of the games, so the new flag of Zambia was used in the closing ceremony, most sites including Sports-Reference have the athletes as Zambian not Northern Rhodesian, so should the page be called Zambia at the 1964 Summer Olympics, with an explanation in the first paragraph? to avoid future confusion Iantheimp (talk) 09:48, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, I think since most, if not all, athletes from the country competed in Tokyo while the country was still called Northern Rhodesia (before October 24, 1964) I think the name should remain the same. True, Trevor Haynes carried the new Zambian flag at the closing ceremony, but that is just an interesting bit of trivia. Cacrats (talk) 17:00, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- Good enough - thanks both. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:35, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
Edit summaries
I have noticed that you often edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s). Thanks! Gertanis (talk) 15:33, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Gertanis: - get back to me when this is mandatory. Until then, I will not be using edit summaries, so tough shit. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:11, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
Class list or start?
Hi, until and including 2010 the Cannes articles are tagged as class=list. From 2011 on they are tagged as class=start /C. In other film festivals I see this is either way (List / Start). I am wondering if there is a criterion for this, like if they have a verbose lead or something. Thank you. Hoverfish Talk 10:49, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
- I've always gone with a list to begin with (IE, this is a list of films at X festival). If it then gets expanded with a big lead section, etc, then some editors swap it to start. But it could be easier to get an article like this to a WP:FL status rather than a WP:FA, if that was the end goal. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 11:42, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

Metre and meters?
Hey I don't appreciate calling my revert "rude" in the Mona Sulaiman and honestly a bad faith comment on your part. Perhaps you find my revert as too WP:BOLD.
But still I want to understand your rationale more please. You say it should be "metre" instead of "meter" as per MOS:RETAIN because the original athletics events article uses the "metre" spelling. MOS:RETAIN I believe refers to the article itself and not to the article linked. In that case all articles discussing association football players of the United States would be using football instead of "soccer". Or is it an athletics thing that "metre" is to be used even in countries where "meter" is the more prevalent spelling. I honestly don't know if this is the case.
Again I'm sorry if the revert came as rude.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 23:57, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
- "Hey I don't appreciate calling my revert "rude"" - Well it was. It's spelt metre, not the other way. As per the article it links to. We're not talking about "soccer" either, so that's a red herring. Don't rude revert again. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 06:42, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
- Never my intention to be rude but again sorry if it came of as rude. Now back to the topic at hand. But I want to point out that "metre" is spelt as "meter" in some parts of the world. Same for "centre" is alternatively spelt as "center". As per MOS:TIES since the article talks about a Filipino athlete, it would be more appropriate to use "meter".Hariboneagle927 (talk) 13:02, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

Question
I've come across a new user, User:Undaporiyal, whose edit history so far has consisted of creating three separate identically-scoped categories for Category:Mobile Phone Movies, Category:Smartphone Feature Films and Category:Cell Phone Cinemas (all of which I've already nominated for deletion), and adding a couple of individual films to Category:Lists of documentary films (which I've already reverted). But this is all giving me flashbacks to an editor that we've previously blocked in the past for weird and nonsensical edits pertaining to Indian film, such as creating lists of Indian films grouped by characteristics we very much don't need lists of. I think you and I have talked about that editor in the past, but damned if I can remember or locate their name so I can investigate whether there's enough evidence to run a sockcheck or not — so I wanted to ask if you can remember who I'm thinking of. Bearcat (talk) 01:30, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Bearcat: - this does sound familar. Leave it with me, if I can find anything, I'll drop you a note. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:53, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
- No worries. I found it a few minutes ago by searching for my own username in the SPI archives to determine which case reports I'd commented on in the past — the case I was thinking of is User:Padmalakshmisx. After reviewing their historical patterns, however, I'm not sure there's sufficient evidence to warrant a sockcheck yet — Undaporiyal should probably still be monitored for a while just in case stronger evidence emerges, but so far I'm not seeing compelling evidence of an edit pattern I could deem more consistent with Padmalakshmisx than with "generic clueless newbie". Bearcat (talk) 15:33, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
- BTW, I was wondering, what about this diff: [2] is any of it in line with the article or worth keeping? I mean, "Mache du Film" is like saying anything could be included. I placed "The Fly" it in its own little corner but I see it's from a banned sock... Hoverfish Talk 01:32, 11 August 2017 (UTC)

On behalf of the arbitration committee, I would like to inform you that the case request named "topic-banning Supermann from all pages related to film for one year" (in which you had been listed as involved party) has been declined. The committee concluded that has no jurisdiction on the issues involved in this case, and that therefore cannot be accepted.

Speedy deletion nomination of Mario Ervedosa
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Mario Ervedosa requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Deletion discussion about Mohamed Riad
Hello, Lugnuts,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Mohamed Riad should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mohamed Riad .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
Thanks,
Yo
Given two ANI threads in the past two weeks, I figure you're going to be banned soon and I better show my appreciation while I still can. Ribbet32 (talk) 22:04, 31 August 2017 (UTC)

German submissions
I was just looking over the List of German submissions for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film article and realized the East Germany section needs to be split off to a separate article, so that West German and German nominations flow together, while East German submissions stay separate. This is kind of similar to how we have the Soviet and Russian submissions articles. What do you think? Jmj713 (talk) 18:40, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
- Hi. On a personal level, I'd keep it in one list for a couple of reasons. It's a little different to the Soviet one, as the USSR became more than a dozen other countries. Also, this is a Featured List, so someone got it to that standard, and no doubt several people were involved in reviewing it. If some of those people are still active, then ask their thoughts first. I'm not opposed to spliting it, as such, but I'd support it staying as one article more so, if that makes sense. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:44, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
- I understand, and I agree. Just wondering is all. But what spurred it was looking at List of countries by number of Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film and realizing we have three Germanies listed here. How does the Academy view these three countries officially, do you know? If as three entities, then a split may be in order but I'm rather ambivalent about it, would just like to ultimately have the number of articles for submitting countries match the overall number of the submitting countries. Jmj713 (talk) 18:51, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
- I'm not sure how the Academy views/lists them TBH. Their history section just lists the five films for each category in each year, and for the FLF subs, the country afterwards. I don't think they have a list of each country - their site isn't that good at detailing ALL of the submissons! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 19:03, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

Sorry
Just wanted to apologise for my comments at WT:CRIC recently. They were unfair to you, and I completely apologise. I was a bit frustrated with how things had been done, and had spent most of my morning trying to sort out the articles that shouldn't really have been included in the mass move, which wasn't your fault at all. You are completely right that a whole batch of article by this editor have been well sub-standard. I've had a run through some of them with AWB to try and fix the first class / first-class, Twentytwenty / Twenty20 problems and similar. You do great work here with your own article creations, and for me to suggest that you aren't willing to take action was unwarranted. Sorry. Harrias talk 07:54, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
- @Harrias: - thanks for this, much appreciated. Apologies for myself too - sometimes I'm not the best at keeping my frustrations civil (that's not to say I was uncivil, for any TPS vultures). Thanks for doing some basic clean-up work. I've tackled a few myself. I guess the bottom line is that no real harm was done to anyone or any article. Thanks again. Hi! You partially reverted my edit, saying "this is the standard for all international tour articles". I accepted most, but still I am confused on ESPNcricinfo things. If we open the wiki-link and website for it, it shows un-italic title without any space in it, then why we sometimes use ESPN Cricinfo (italic and space, with either upper-case Cric or both C & Info or all cricinfo lower-case; or just written an older name Cricinfo) in pages? Also, for external link I used Template:Cricinfo, which you maybe didn't notice. Plus re-removing some infobox spaces as tooooooo many are loooooooking bad, and we know that either one or hundred in code they remain invisible in article. Also, why one ref has been repeated for two joined sentences, that I think is unnecessaey repitition. Well, I am bringing back my edits but that efn+Notelist, but before it I hope for your kind reply and response, Thanks! M. Billoo 09:22, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
Hi! I just didn't understand this edit by you, can you please explain what kind of spacing is this? As I earlier asked why too much? Neither all parameters' space are balanced, nor the above parameters are balanced with any other. So what's that!? Please explain.
I know, and I said too what you said, "nothing wrong with this infobox", neither was after my edit on reducing the spaces. See above, "we know that either one or hundred [spaces] in code they remain invisible in article".
You seem to may be angry on other user's edits. Please calm down, those 113+ bytes could have been saved.😂😜 Thanks! M. Billoo 16:26, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
- It's the standard infobox for tours and doesn't need fixing (as it's not broken). You've obviously got too much time on your hands if your counting the bytes. Go find something productive to do, rather than worry about spaces. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:29, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
- Why are you again teaching that infobox is not broken with or without many spaces like I don't know, I know it too already. Please calm down, I wasn't counting the bytes myslef and why would I? It is already mentioned on every edit. I don't know why are you talking about which standard; or see Template:Infobox cricket tour, there is more space count than you gave here. Either match all parameters' spaces or just keep it with only one space. "All parameters are not balanced here as-you-know-better". M. Billoo 00:20, 13 September 2017 (UTC)
The article Farhan Khan has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Hi, I saw your message on my page and will be more careful in future. I saw substantial reason to create a page for Mickey Edwards due to his fame in subfielding for Australia, he is quite popular over here and is soon to play a List A match next week. I created Tom Rogers as an experiment to test Wikipedia as I am new, he is also expected to play soon, but in future I will be more careful about not creating pages too early. "Fuck AWB"
Would you consider removing this from the top of your talk page? It's rather polemical. Some editors misuse AWB, and we rather quickly take care of them when they do; I removed AWB access from that particular editor in the past due to misuse. The vast majority of AWB users do a lot of good with it (especially so for bots that use AWB for maintenance tasks that would take humans thousands of hours to perform). This is a request, not a demand, but I do hope you'll consider it. ~ Rob13Talk 12:31, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Might I ask for the reason why you removed the"Summary" section of the page? The page is a stub. Putting a summary there would be necessary to upgrade its status (and I'm quite sure you're aware of that), and even if I haven't quite figured out the summary layout, someone else could have done it in my stead. Please reply soon. BulbAtop (talk) 17:09, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
