AFC Backlog Elimination Drive
Hi there, I see that you have shown interest in participating in the October - November 2012 BED for the AFC WikiProject. Because you have already seen the page you may think that the drive will begin on November 1, but due to the rapid increase in submissions these past few days, I am pushing the start date to October 22, 2012.--Dom497 (talk) 21:02, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: How to Make a Film
Hello Mdann52, and thanks for patrolling new pages! WikiProject:Articles for Creation October - November 2012 Backlog Elimination Drive
WikiProject AFC is holding a one month long Backlog Elimination Drive!
The goal of this drive is to eliminate the backlog of unreviewed articles. The drive is running from October 22, 2012 – November 21, 2012.
Awards will be given out for all reviewers participating in the drive in the form of barnstars at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 1000 articles, so start reviewing articles! Visit the drive's page and help out!
So I don't actually care or anything, but why would you unreview the article? Why not just add some review or whatever you think should happen. heather walls (talk) 06:25, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Climb It, Tarzan!
Hello Mdann52. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Climb It, Tarzan!, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 does not apply to films. This may well not meet WP:NFILM - consider PROD or AfD. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 09:38, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Hello.
I was told that this article cannot be edited because of no explanation. This article includes my full name and it's costing me job opportunities. If it was written in 2005, I was a minor then and failed to comprehend how my name ended up in Wikipedia in the first place. I really would appreciate it if it would deleted or edited. Please help me. Thank you very much for your time.

I understand your consern, however, this is an Articles for deletion discussion. These are generally kept, but \i will place tags on it to prevent the search engines picking it up. Mdann52 (talk) 13:12, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Hello there!
Indeed, I corrected some information regarding Alexander Salkind which had been deleted and replaced by some misinformation regarding his nationality, and his spouse. Being his and his wife's relative, and having worked and lived with them during the last 6 years before his passing away, I can produce the documents which prove what I'm writing about. You can double-check with his son Ilya Salkind, cousin of mine.

Hello Mdann52. What was your rationale for reverting this edit, which is clearly in good faith? I've been on "The Flume" at Alton Towers, and yes, there was a big quacking duck in a tunnel. Streetley speedy delete
I'm new to new page patrolling and I see we both noticed the Streetley Academy article should be speedily deleted. I thought it was promotional in nature, so I used the db-spam template. I noticed you used the db-copyvio template as it also appears to be a copy-paste job from somewhere else. Should I have used the copyvio one? It looks like an argument could be made for both... Midhart90 (talk) 18:37, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- Either is fine - I was about to tag it G12 when you got it, so I just tagged it to. The heading kind of gave the copyvio away. All speedy templates are the same as eachother in priority, so just tag it with the most obvious ones, or use Twinkle's "multiple reasons" function. Mdann52 (talk) 18:56, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Rambus article
Hello Mdann52,
THeir is no other tech company with a longer litigation history than Rambus, it in infamous in the tech sector in every way. For the past year the Rambus article has had the opening:
"Rambus Incorporated (NASDAQ: RMBS), founded in 1990, is an American technology licensing company, and has also been labelled as a Patent Troll. The company became well known for its intellectual property-based litigation following the introduction of DDR-SDRAM memory."
It has been changed to:
"Rambus Incorporated, founded in 1990, is an American technology licensing company. Rambus creates, develops, and invents new technologies and architectures and licenses its innovations and solutions to semiconductor and system companies."
Simply put, Rambus does not create anything, develop anything, or invent anything, the company buys patents and then sues people, thats it. If you google Rambus you will find nothing but hundreds of lawsuits, most of which Rambus has lost. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.149.187.98 (talk) 18:40, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- Do you have a reliable source for this? Mdann52 (talk) 18:57, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Yes, hundreds,
Is a good start, also the existing article cites many great sources about the litigation history of the company, and the wikipedia article on "Patent troll" describes the company perfectly. I was going to add rambus to the patent troll page, but I want to wait until this is dealt with because I dont want you to think I'm doing something sneaky. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.149.187.98 (talk) 19:09, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

This is not a newsletter
Anyway. You're getting this note because you've participated in discussion and/or asked for updates to either the Article Feedback Tool or Page Curation. This isn't about either of those things, I'm afraid ;p. We've recently started working on yet another project: Echo, a notifications system to augment the watchlist. There's not much information at the moment, because we're still working out the scope and the concepts, but if you're interested in further updates you can sign up here.
In addition, we'll be holding an office hours session at 21:00 UTC on Wednesday, 14 November in #wikimedia-office - hope to see you all there :). I appreciate it's an annoying time for non-Europeans: if you're interested in chatting about the project but can't make it, give me a shout and I can set up another session if there's enough interest in one particular timezone or a skype call if there isn't. Conic Section article
Dear Mdann52
You answered with a no at an edit request of mine (Oct 29) on the page: Conic Section where I suggested a paragraph change with a reference of Proclus. You asked for an external link. Well, I did find the link at the Proclus page of Wikipedia. It reads:
- Proclus' Commentary on Euclid, Book I. PDF scans of Friedlein's Greek edition, now in the public domain (Classical Greek)
The relevant pages are 419-421 of the Commentary.
I should stress that Proclus is one of the two most reliable sources on ancient greek Mathematics (The other one is Pappus)
As I do not know how to intervene, please help
regards

I've reverted your closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lynn Parsons, because WP:NAC lists very specific ways non-administrators may close an AfD, and that was not one of those situations. If the consensus is to keep, that's fine, but please let an administrator make that determination. - SudoGhost 17:11, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- Thanka for the note - I felt it met the guidelines. Can you explain why, so I can bear that in mind for the future? Mdann52 (talk) 17:54, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- Re-reading my edit summary, I didn't mean "inappropriate" as in you did something wrong, I just didn't think it was a clear consensus enough that it warranted an WP:NAC closure, since there was arguments both for and against deletion of the article. Sorry if that seemed like I was accusing you of acting inappropriate, that's not what I meant; probably could have worded that better. - SudoGhost 17:55, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- I see what you mean - I decided to apply WP:IAR a bit, as my interpretation of !votes was that most of the delete ones were about an issue that couldn't easily be proven, and the geolocation of the IP doesn't seem to be around the presenters station HQQ. But anyway, I can't complain about you actions :) Mdann52 (talk) 18:00, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- Well it looks like you were right anyways, so I guess there's nothing left to do now but have some tea and get back to working on an article or two. :) - SudoGhost 18:06, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

I have concerns with another recent non-admin closure you made; the one involving Albina Library and related articles. For one, since a number of people voted "merge" or "delete", an NAC might not have been appropriate. For two, you failed to give any rationale for your closure. For three, you failed to note that it was a multi AfD; you did not close it on any of the other AfDs. I'm going to give you a chance to fix it. If you don't, I'm afraid it's ANI for you pbp 01:13, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
- A rough count turns up 9 keep votes, 1 merge vote and 1 redirect to vote (and you delete vote as nom). How is there no clear consensus in that? Also, last time I checked, you didn't have to give any closing rationnal beyond the result. Mdann52 (talk) 08:52, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
- That's flirting with the line between NAC and regular closure. And that still misses point #3, that you didn't clean up after you closed the AfD pbp 20:29, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, I am aware of that - I'm sorting it out at school tomorrow, as all I have had to use over the past few days is a ipod touch. Mdann52 (talk) 20:33, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

Webpage seems to be a cover for a Virus: InstallCore
Hi Mdann52, i saw that you reverted the text of a fellow user as vandalism, and it might have looked like vandalism too, but i think he actually spoke the truth. I was looking for a new installer program and stumbled over this program : InstallCore, but i couldn't find the SDK download they were talking about anywhere on the page. I also never heard about this company before, even though i am quite often using similar products.
Doesn't it seem odd to you, that a company that allegedly has over 90 million downloads a month, and has been existing for 2 years, only 4 weeks ago created a wiki entry? And also only has this entry in English?
After some research on the web I am now convinced that this is just a hoax-page to make ppl who have contracted this groups spam-virus, believe that it is actually a legitimate program and that the messages from their antivirus programs are only false positives. Just search for the term InstallCore.
I don't know how to proceed with this, as you reverted the edit, i hope you know better and hand this in to the appropriate channels. Saludos, Lars - Larzan (talk) 16:51, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

AFC BED Barnstar Distribution
Hi there, are you still interested in helping out with the distribution of barnstar's after the AFC drive ends? If so:
1. The barnstar templates that should be put on users talk pages depended on what "level" they reached can be found here.
2. Can you please help count which users have reviewed at least 25 reviews? If you can, please put the list of users on my talk page.
3. Don't begin to give out barnstars until we figure out who gets the teamwork barnstar.
Thanks!--Dom497 (talk) 03:13, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, will do! Mdann52 (talk) 07:56, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
- You can now start giving out barnstars. When filling in the blank in the barnstars, just put the total number of articles the user reviewed.--Dom497 (talk) 17:45, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- Is it possible for you to move them to subpages to allow the template syntax to work? Thanks, Mdann52 (talk) 18:21, 23 November 2012 (UTC)

How is mention of a radio program with a 100-mile radius that is listened to every morning by thousands of listeners over a series of broadcast stations in Maine not considered "notable?"
We have been mentioned in articles all over the place and played a crucial role in the election of our State's governor.
These guidelines seem extremely exclusionary and supportive of the status quo to me, and not in ANY WAY supportive of "independence." — Preceding unsigned comment added by MEpatriot (talk • contribs) 17:40, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

Deleted page: Time Warner Cable Sports Channel
Hello, Sorry if it is bad form to wholesale copy a page to a new name and then only make minor edits. I work at the channel and we changed our name, but the rest of our story has not changed. I was trying to get all of the information under a page that reflected the new name. Apologies as I didn't think this was an issue. Davidson13 (talk) 16:34, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
- What page have you copied it off? - I tagged it originally as it has a (slight)promotional tone. Mdann52 (talk) 09:06, 8 December 2012 (UTC)
It was copied from Time Warner Cable SportsNet. There are several pages that are posted on Time Warner channels that I would agree have a promotional tone to them. I am not authorized to act a representative of the company in this matter. I only wanted to change the page to reflect current changes to the name. I am very new to the wiki thing and wanted to see if I could do it. Davidson13 (talk) 17:04, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Hand-coding
Hey all :).
I'm dropping you a note because you've been involved in dealing with feedback from the Article Feedback Tool. To get a better handle on the overall quality of comments now that the tool has become a more established part of the reader experience, we're undertaking a round of hand coding - basically, taking a sample of feedback and marking each piece as inappropriate, helpful, so on - and would like anyone interested in improving the tool to participate :).
You can code as many or as few pieces of feedback as you want: this page should explain how to use the system, and there is a demo here. Once you're comfortable with the task, just drop me an email at okeyes wikimedia.org and I'll set you up with an account :).
If you'd like to chat with us about the research, or want live tutoring on the software, there will be an office hours session on Monday 17 December at 23:00 UTC in #wikimedia-office connect. Hope to see some of you there! Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 22:55, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
P1150263 Paris XVIII rue Briquet-Sacré-Coeur rwk.jpg
Bonjour,
--92.128.35.79 (talk) 14:33, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

2012 Six Nations
Did you not read my edit summary or perhaps read the section on the talk page (Talk:2012_Six_Nations_Championship#Week_by_week_Standings)? Consensus is against inclusion of this ugly, unreferenced and completely meaningless table. I would appreciate you restoring my edit. Prof IP (talk) 13:34, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- I saw both. However, I will not restore the edit, as I see it as a rv of an edit war. I have also requested page protection to stop the edit warring. Mdann52 (talk) 13:37, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- "I saw both" and yet you still warn me as I "removed some content from 2012 Six Nations Championship without explaining why". I thought my edit summary explained perfectly well my edit. Despite the fact I have opened discussion whereas the other user cannot even be bothered to discuss the table counts for nothing. The table was discussed, consensus is clear, the table is unreferenced, completely meaningless and yet somehow this other user seems able to just revert and constantly ignore attempts to discuss. This place really is a joke. The only reason I registered is because the other user refused to talk to me when I was editing as an IP. I have done all I can to appease him, and yet he is intent on ignoring reason and logic. I really shouldn't have bothered. What a welcome. Prof IP (talk) 13:41, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- Please don't get me involved with this - discussing it with the other user is the best course of action - I will revert myself, as I feel that, after rereviewing it, it should be removed, until concemsious is reached. Sorry about this. Mdann52 (talk) 13:44, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- That's quite ok, and thanks for your swift action. Apologies for dragging you into this, it's just frustrating when you try and do the right thing and others seem intent to ignore it... Cheers Prof IP (talk) 13:48, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

January 2013 AfC backlog elimination drive start date
When does the backlog elimination drive actually start? I see January 1, 2013 at the top of the drive page, but right below says December 20, 2012 (and I noticed that a user has already reviewed three submissions). The Anonymouse (talk • contribs) [Merry Christmas!] 15:23, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

Userboxes
Hey Mdann! Would you like much more userboxes on your user page? If yes, then please see this page and you will have many more userboxes on your user page! Also, you might like to create a page called "User:Mdann52/Userboxes" and add your userboxes there! Please leave a message on my user talk page after you have created the page so that I can take a look! Cheers! CURTAINTOAD! TALK! 22:33, 25 December 2012 (UTC)

AFC Drive
Hi! This is the second AFC drive that I am participating in. In the last drive, under the running totals list, there was this for me: B. Jakob T. Has reviewed 85
So my question is; do I need to add that under my username, or not? Thanks, Jakob 19:37, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
- Yes please - if you can update the instructions too, that would be helpful (I'm kinda on a Wikibreak at the moment.) Mdann52 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
- Yes-Done I also started the Scoreboard. However, I didn't see anything in the instructions that needed updating. –Jakob 22:22, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Hi. You tagged this article with {{speedy deletion-significance}} three minutes after it was created, but I found two possible reliable sources via a very quick web search. Can you make a point of doing a search for references before CSD tagging an potential A7 candidate, and if so, add them to the article. You can then still go to WP:PROD or WP:AfD if you think the article's subject is still not notable enough. Cheers. --Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:15, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
- Ok - I am just a bit "trigger heavy" at times Mdann52 (talk) 13:11, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

declined AfC
Any editor who has registered and is able to create an article may make an article that has been declined at AfD ; any user with autoconfirmed, who is able to move an article, may move a declined one and delete the afc data. It is not usually wise for them to do so, but it's legit. AfC is optional. The River Restoration Centre is not a satisfactory article, but that is not the reason. It was declined by a good editor as too much like an advertisement, and I'm going to place a db-promotional tag on it and see if another admin agrees with me. If not it has to go to prod or AfD. Prod is unlikely to work if the ed. is determined to keep it, so it would have to be AfD. DGG ( talk ) 18:55, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
- Ok - I think I am just a bit too reliant on the old WP:IAR at the moment.... Mdann52 (talk) 10:59, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
- (stalking) Can't it go to {{db-same}}, pointing to the article in AfC space as a duplicate? --Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:12, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi there! I just would like to ask why did you remove the one that I've made on wikipedia(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquinas_School) I added the updated History of the School and that update is still not in the web yet. so in short I am the 1st one to enter in in the web and I can assure you that those are not covered by the copyright policy... and I know that school because I am studying there. I'am just sad to see that you removed the one that I've effort to type.. Please bring back the one that I added to that profile. I can assure you that I'am part of the community of that School. Please reply... EnricoAranda (talk) 09:22, 10 January 2013 (UTC) |
- Please read WP:COPYVIO. The text you added comes from he schools website [3], and does not come with a compatible copyright licence (Copyright 2010 Aquinas School. All rights reserved). Please use your own words in future. Mdann52 (talk) 11:03, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for January 11
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited John Edward Heys, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages New Wave and Wolfgang Müller (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

stub tags
Hi, If you add a specific stub tag to an article, as you did for Adriana Leon, please remember to remove the {{stub}} tag. Otherwise it continues to be listed as a stub needing to be stub-sorted. (Incidentally there was a more specific tag you could have used: I've amended it to {{Canada-footy-bio-stub}}). PamD 13:58, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Matt O'Connor edited profile
Hello
I would like to post new materiall under Matt O'Connor's page, however it has been taken down with the following note:
“Your addition to Matt O'Connor has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text, or images borrowed from other websites, or printed material without a verifiable license; such additions will be deleted. “
Is it possible for me to post the edited profile as was without the pictures for now - I have permission to use the pictures however I am looking into how to address this correctly on Wikipedia.
Mcguirl1 (talk) 19:52, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
- NO. The material you added appeared to come from his LinkedIn profile, of which the copyright is not compatible with the rules on Wikipedia. If you do actually own the material, please see WP:Donating copyrighted materials if you want to use it on here. Mdann52 (talk) 07:41, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Untitled section
I'm new at putting things on Wikipedia, and I tried to create an article for Genesis Today. It was tagged as promotional/spam. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but I welcome any feedback. I was also asked to put it on my userpage, but I'm not sure how to do that. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you. (ShelleyParks (talk) 15:22, 17 January 2013 (UTC))

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Paunick card game
Hello Mdann52. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Paunick card game to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 14:33, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
- It's always frustrating not to have a "Blatantly WP:NFT" speedy, and one has been suggested many times, including by me, but is always shot down on difficulties of definition. Given the amount of well-intentioned work that has gone into this, I'm not happy to zap as "test page". I have pointed the author to the very relevant Scrabble section of WP:NFT.
