WP:UNITS states, "in scientific articles, use the units employed in the current scientific literature on that topic. This will usually be SI ..." and "avoid inconsistent usage". This article has been edited to present scientific measures in their proper SI form and to make sure that the units are consistent, e.g., "100 m (33 ft)" as opposed to "100 meters (33 ft)". While I support the guideline that "US articles [should] generally put United States customary units first", this is clearly a scientific article and thus should be in SI units. Further, it is stated that "if editors cannot agree on the sequence of units, put the source value first and the converted value second". All the recent publications provide their units in SI (as it is a topic of science) with the exception of a single legacy publication.
I thought the Geysers was an engineering project (to generate electricity) not a scientific one (to add to humanity's knowledge). If that's correct, then the "In scientific articles" clause of WP:UNITS does not apply. The Geysers are pretty clearly in the United States, so the "US articles generally put United States customary units first" does apply. --Stepheng3 (talk) 01:16, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
