Hospital dmy dates
editI understand the use of DMY as chosen by you as the First Major Contributor to the article, but Canada generally uses MDY dates. ViperSnake151 Talk 20:15, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- As per your selection as the First Major Contributor to the article and guidance of MOS:DATETIES, I hereby rescind my objection to use of DMY on the article, as MDY is in error and against implied consensus. ViperSnake151 Talk 20:16, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- @ViperSnake151: Well, OK then...; note that I restored your original comment as the second one in isolation was slightly confusing. Mindmatrix 20:26, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- That was me taking it back, basically. Actually looking at Canada apparently allowing either for some reason is a bit odd imo. ViperSnake151 Talk 20:37, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- @ViperSnake151: That's likely the Quebecois influence, but I suspect immigrants are also more likely to use the DMY format they are familiar with, so that format has had non-trivial use in Canada given the country's high immigration rate. (I personally use this format anytime I don't use the YYYY-MM-DD format. Some people find it annoying, but others like it.) Mindmatrix 20:52, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

editWhy did you remove the paragraph I wrote about French Techs which use QR Codes on clothing ? I thought Wikipedia was objective, I don't understand why you did that QRiste (talk) 21:24, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

editThanks for the notification. I was aware of the deletion, as I saw it being unlinked in other articles that I watchlist — but I have no intention of challenging it at this time. Our notability and sourcing standards are very different in 2021 than they were in 2007, of course, so I didn't have to do nearly as much 14 years ago to demonstrate his notability as I would have to do today, and it's not at all an obvious given that he would actually pass today's NMUSIC standards. So I knew about it, but just let it slide because I don't feel all that strongly about it. Bearcat (talk) 15:32, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

DYK for Flying Fathers
editOn 24 April 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Flying Fathers, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the original Flying Fathers ice hockey team consisted of player priests with a horse as a backup goaltender? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Flying Fathers. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Flying Fathers), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
The article Museum of Vision Science has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
After conducting a WP:BEFORE search, I was unable to find sources that verified its notability.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Z1720 (talk) 22:41, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Card games introduced in the 1850s
editA tag has been placed on Category:Card games introduced in the 1850s indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. Please warn vandals
editHi.
Thanks for recently undoing vandalism on Software release life cycle. In the future, when you undo vandalism, could you please use the appropriate template to warn the user (IP or registered) to stop their behaviour?
There are many different warning templates available to use. Here are some popular ones. Please see their documentation pages for instructions.
- {{subst:Uw-vandalism1}} - For the first case of vandalism.
- {{subst:Uw-vandalism2}} - For the second case.
- {{subst:Uw-vandalism3}} - Third.
- {{subst:Uw-vandalism4}} - Fourth or final warning.
- {{subst:Uw-vandalism4im}} - Last or only warning for severe situations.
Each time we use these warnings they should be placed under the title "==November 2024==" (updated to the current month and year), on the user's talk page. If previous warnings have been given under that title, add the next level warning beneath the others, within that section. Clearly, individual cases must be dealt with as seems fit. If the user has not been actively vandalizing for a few weeks or months, start a new section.
The value of warning is three fold.
- Firstly: it may be heeded.
- Secondly: it allows other editors to quickly see if that user has been vandalizing frequently or recently.
- Lastly: administrators require that warnings have been given before they can or will act against persistent vandals.
If a vandal is on a spree or has reached a level 4 vandalism warning and is currently active, waste no time in reporting them to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism.
Thanks again for helping to protect articles on Wikipedia. Happy editing! ― Qwerfjkl | 𝕋𝔸𝕃𝕂 (please use {{reply to|Qwerfjkl}}

Reverts incorrect
edit@mindmatrix can you please explain why you reverted over 11 changes of mine?? as per CNAC the 742 area code and 365 ARE indeed in those areas that you have removed them from..
for instance those areas are indeed currently served by 905/289 and those number received an overlay of 365 AND 742 area code.
so I am perplexed why you have removed them thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 942digital (talk • contribs) 17:30, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
- @942digital: As I mentioned on your talk page, many of the changes you made broke links. Please read that message, and re-introduce your changes with a proper, unbroken link. It should look like this: [[Area codes 905, 289, and 365|905, 289, 365, and 742]]. For example, this change is okay, but you linked to Area codes 905, 289, 365, and 742, which you can see is a redlink (such an article doesn't exist). Formatted as I indicated above, it would look like this: 905, 289, 365, and 742, which works properly. Mindmatrix 17:38, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
- Also note that other changes, such as this one, were simply wrong, as 742 does not cover Hamilton. Mindmatrix 17:42, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

Board games
editHey there, thank you for your contributions in the board game area. :) If you were interested, I have been working on a massive project which does somewhat involve board games at User:BOZ/Games deletions#Board and miniatures games - I know that the majority of those articles are gone for good, but I'm sure there are some that should not have been deleted in case you see anything there that can be resurrected! :) BOZ (talk) 12:53, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
- @BOZ: I took a quick peek at the list. Password and maybe Blitzkrieg merit an article, and perhaps a few others. I may take a crack at resurrecting Password at some point in the future, but most sources will be offline and more difficult to find. I'm currently reviewing various sources for potential new articles about games from the past 15-20 years. Mindmatrix 13:47, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
- Sounds good - if you need me to restore any deleted articles to draft space, let me know! BOZ (talk) 13:53, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
- @BOZ: Thanks, but that's not needed - I've been an admin since 2005 so I can peruse deleted articles if necessary. However, I usually prefer starting articles from scratch. Mindmatrix 14:05, 14 November 2021 (UTC)

Request for review
editHi there, I am writing you to ask whether you could help me with the review of the page European Partnership for Democracy, on which I've been working on so that it fits with the community standards. I would be grateful if your expertise could help me enhancing it again, if it needs to, or if you could validate the publication. Thank you in advance for your consideration. Coffeebreak12 14:04, 17 November 2021 (CET)
- @Coffeebreak12: I'm investing my time elsewhere on Wikipedia, but I will say that you should improve your referencing. Specifically, use citation templates (choose from the most appropriate from {{Citation Style 1}}), ensuring to include at a minimum the following: a URL (for online references), title, authorship info (use 'first' and 'last' fields), publisher, publication date, and access date. Otherwise, you have bare URLs that lead to link rot. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for more details. You can see an example of how its done at Suburbia (board game), an article I recently created. Good luck! Mindmatrix 16:34, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

Invitation to take part in a survey about medical topics on Wikipedia
editDear fellow editor,
I am Piotr Konieczny, a sociologist of new media at Hanyang University (and User:Piotrus on Wikipedia). I would like to better understand Wikipedia's volunteers who edit medical topics, many associated with the WikiProject Medicine, and known to create some of the highest quality content on Wikipedia. I hope that the lessons I can learn from you that I will present to the academic audience will benefit both the WikiProject Medicine (improving your understanding of yourself and helping to promote it and attract new volunteers) and the wider world of medical volunteering and academia. Open access copy of the resulting research will be made available at WikiProject's Medicine upon the completion of the project.
All questions are optional. The survey is divided into 4 parts: 1 - Brief description of yourself; 2 - Questions about your volunteering; 3 - Questions about WikiProject Medicine and 4 - Questions about Wikipedia's coverage of medical topics.
Please note that by filling out this questionnaire, you consent to participate in this research. The survey is anonymous and all personal details relevant to your experience will be kept private and will not be transferred to any third party.
I appreciate your support of this research and thank you in advance for taking the time to participate and share your experiences! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me at my Wikipedia user page or through my email listed on the survey page (or by Wikipedia email this user function).
The survey is accessible through the LINK HERE.

- @Piotrus: I do not fill out surveys on Google Docs or any other third-party system, as they inherently cannot assure my privacy. Mindmatrix 22:35, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- Of course, that's understandable. Although I believe doing so in the Chrome incognito mode should be pretty secure, and as far as I know the survey does not record any IP or such. You can also consider reading the survey and wiki-emailing me any thoughts or comments if you would like to share something this way. Again, I totally understand if you will chose not to participate, it's a voluntary activity and thank you for notifying me of your concerns. Cheers!
