Alfredosolis violating "terms of parole"

edit

So, I'm a big tattletale, but this user has really become the monkey on my back. You had lifted a one-week block on Alfredosolis on 8 September (see here), warning him that "If we catch you uploading images while falsely claiming to have permission, you will blocked for 1 month or longer without parole." Well...if you have time, please look at recent adds to his talk page. One of the more recent is from 16 September regarding a picture of Johnny Depp that he kept re-adding. Additionally, he spends a lot of time creating articles about minor fictional film characters and adds images to all of those (he lists these articles on his user page if you want to check them out). I'm not a copyright expert, so I don't know if they're okay or not. Thanks for your time... Miss Dark 05:09, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

He breached fair use on Johnny Depp again today, so I've blocked him for one week. --  Netsnipe  ►  08:00, 21 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Royal Tenenbaums

edit

I hesitated before using the term "vandalism," because, as you say, the figure did not come out of nowhere. What really needs to happen, I dare say, is the rewriting of that entire sentence for the sake of greater clarity. The previous figure of "ten years" or "a decade," whichever it was, is not accurate either. I just watched the film again this afternoon, so one would think I would remember how long Royal had been absent. The way the sentence is written now, whether it says 10 or 22 years, it seems to say that is how long it has been since he had seen his children, and I do not believe that to be accurate.

Thank you for your message. ---Charles 02:56, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have been adding the tag for adding images to multiple pages as I have been through assessing them for WP:Films. I have mainly been adding the tag to articles that do not have any pictures as all, since I figure a picture would hopefully drive interest in helping to contribute to the article. As long as somebody adds an image with the proper tags, then there will be no problems allowing it on the page. It just seems that it in the history of the article, people have been adding images without having the proper tags. If you want to remove the tag to avoid problems, go ahead. I'm sure eventually somebody will be able to add a movie screenshot and add the proper tags. Nehrams2020 20:34, 28 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I was aware of your opinion. However, blanking is not how we delete it. Apply {{rfd}} to the article and follow the instructions from there to solicit a consensus of your fellow editors at WP:RFD. You might just be right, but it's not how we delete things here. - CrazyRussian talk/email 05:03, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

NowCommons: Image:DickDurbin.jpg

edit

Image:DickDurbin.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:Image:Dick Durbin.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[Image:Dick Durbin.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 13:42, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://nagara.org/Public/About_NAGARA/About.aspx?WebsiteKey=f614a8de-d008-443d-ab9e-6682b9a7a96f. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:35, 27 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Nagara-logo.png

edit

The file File:Nagara-logo.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 11 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Carol Guess 2006.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Carol Guess 2006.JPG, which you've attributed to Carol Guess. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 15:04, 6 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
