Views on amending frequency of archiving during disputes

Hi there, I'm not sure if this is the right place to come to but i'd be grateful for views on the discussion at Talk:Pogrom#Archiving. We are discussing whether it is appropriate for anyone to change the timing of Miszabot to a short period (a) whilst they are involved in recent talk discussions which may get archived; and (b) in the face of opposition. Thank you for your help. Oncenawhile (talk) 23:09, 29 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have left an opinion.

Thank you very much. I have done my best to answer your questions - further thoughts would be appreciated. Oncenawhile (talk) 18:46, 2 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

lost ani archives

Please see Wikipedia_talk:Administrators'_noticeboard#lost_ani_archive, your bot has lost a couple ANI threads. --Enric Naval (talk) 11:15, 2 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

More eyes

...requested at this user's talk page. I was trying to get their archiving working right from where it was sending them to dev/null but now it seems to not want to work at all. What am I missing?
⋙–Berean–Hunter—► 20:56, 17 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Similar problem but with this user; it is still sending to dev/null. I wonder if it has to do with the periods in the name. I substituted the char mappings from html for a period (.) but I wonder if I shouldn't be using the backslash as an escape sequence (\.) for each period. This bot is written in perl right?

On User talk:MiszaBot/config there's a question about how to add a search box to the archive box. Could someone please answer it? __meco (talk) 17:41, 7 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

It is from 2009 and the user hasn't edited since that year. I have redirected that talk page to this one.
⋙–Berean–Hunter—► 21:03, 17 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
OK, but post the sections here so they can be answered and/or archived. __meco (talk) 21:15, 17 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Okay, they follow below...

Is a search box possible

Is there anyway to add a search box to the output, for example:

{{User:MiszaBot/config
|archiveheader = {{Arbitration enforcement/Archive navbox}}
|maxarchivesize = 200K
|counter = 41
|algo = old(2d)
|archive = Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement/Archive%(counter)d
}}

would have:

<inputbox>
bgcolor=
type=fulltext
prefix=Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement
break=yes
width=20
searchbuttonlabel=Search archives
</inputbox>

...added to the bottom.

How are editors currently integrating search boxes into the MiszaBot/config archive box?

Thanks. Odessaukrain (talk) 14:54, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I believe the solution to this is {{Search archives}} Brad (talk) 00:35, 20 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Small problem

I'm not sure if this page is monitored, but there seems to be a problem with the template recognizing non-numeric archive names. See my talk for an example. Adam McCormick (talk) 23:09, 29 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Archive error

You should not have archived my apology to a user to help resolve a conflict. Your robot algorithm needs to be refined to archive what needs to be archived and not archive what should not be archived. Coviepresb1647 (talk) 02:15, 10 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hahahahahaha! Sorry, but are you suggesting... Hahahahaha! Thanks, this will be the highlight of my day. —Миша13 07:16, 10 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
How should it be refined? Why should it not have archived your apology?
⋙–Berean–Hunter—► 21:12, 17 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
This is hilarious. Brad (talk) 00:35, 20 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Itsachat's thread on the forum is over a week old. Has the bot gone on vacation? Has the archive formula for that page changed?Curb Chain (talk) 06:29, 20 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

I see that both MiszaBot and ClueBot are set to archive the same page. Me thinks people should decide which one they want to use first. ClueBot is set for 720 hours which is 30 days and MiszaBot is set for 24 hours. Brad (talk) 07:08, 20 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
The DNAU was not removed when the thread was closed. Brad (talk) 19:15, 20 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
I just found six more threads that were closed but still had the DNAU tag in place; I removed tham. That's the issue here; remove the DNAU tag when closing a discussion. Brad (talk) 02:10, 22 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Problem with bot

The bot's having trouble with archiving my talk page properly, and it's had problems before up to the extent it just stopped doing it. I am almost certain it is to do with the empty topic that starts it off, or the second topic after that which is titled ":)" and contains just a bit o text (forget who it's from now but not me!).

Could you take a look when you feel like it?

Cheers,

Egg Centric 20:58, 22 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please explain what The bot's having trouble means. Your talk page as of this post has no discussions older than 7 days which is what you have the bot set for. Sections that don't have time stamps don't get archived. Brad (talk) 22:37, 22 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Archiving at RS/N

This might be a short topic, summarily dismissed, I'm ok with that . Over at RSN there's a small discussion about what to do with "resolved" issues, sometimes as you can imagine, the RSN page gets a little long. It was decided not to use {{Cot}} (or {{hat}}) because it has search problems (see here for details). What, if any, thoughts do you have on adding a parameter that automatically expands the Cots when it archives (by adding the expand parameter to them) to avoid the search problem? -- Despayre  tête-à-tête 18:22, 23 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Teahouse guest bot

Hi! I'd like to apply an archive bot to Teahouse/Guests/Right column and Teahouse/Guests/Left column, sending the old content of both of those to Teahouse/Guest book (instead of a typical archive), do I need a key for that? Thanks for your fantastic time-saving work!! heather walls (talk) 19:43, 26 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Problem with archiving

On the Talk:Seamus incident page, the bot archives material, but fails to add a link to the new folder (e.g., "Archive 6") where the archived material is located. The link has to be manually added by an editor. Can you fix this? NJ Wine (talk) 21:23, 26 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

It's probably caused by there not being any archive pages numbered 1-4. Archiving was changed from dated to numerical starting with 5. Another clue this is the problem is the talkheader template not displaying archives. It needs to start with 1. Best suggestion is move the dated archives to the missing numbers. January to 1; Feb to 2 etc. Brad (talk) 23:38, 26 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
I fixed the problem. Thank you for your help. NJ Wine (talk) 02:27, 27 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Why was first thread at Talk:Bacon mania not archived?

Seems to date from 2010 to me and bot set to archive after 60 days. Other threads were archived. Egg Centric 02:48, 26 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

The relationship isn't lost on us here...
That doesn't seem out of place considering the datestamps which were on the threads that just archived. Interestingly, I'm wondering what the bot did with these 8 threads..oops. I've restored them to the archive sans one blacklisted url. I would expect the first thread to archive the next time.

Btw, can't help but notice the irony of who is reporting this....damn, now I'm hungry...time to go make a breakfast sandwich.
⋙–Berean–Hunter—► 15:04, 26 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure what you mean by not out of place. It was newer than the threads that were archived, but it is still an old thread, much older than the threshold that has been set up of sixty days...
Note that I don't care about the thread being archived one way or the other - I'm just highlighting it in case there's a bug in the bot. Egg Centric 16:46, 26 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
It hasn't archived yet because the minthreadsleft is set to 3.
⋙–Berean–Hunter—► 17:47, 26 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Bloody bot, doing exactly what it was supposed to! Egg Centric 22:02, 29 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Bad Bot

The bot archiving the EVP talk page at [1] is not updating the history box. it just made Archive 14 and the last one shown is Archive 11. Can this be fixed? Tom Butler (talk) 01:14, 30 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Not the fault of the bot. The archives for that article are setup incorrectly as they're /Archive1 instead of /Archive 1 and so on down the line. You can either move all of the archive pages to the correct path or continue adding the new archive pages to the history box manually. Note that the setting |archive = Talk:Electronic voice phenomenon/Archive%(counter)d should be changed to |archive = Talk:Electronic voice phenomenon/Archive %(counter)d if it's decided to revamp the archives.
