Phil Ross

I contested the speedy deletion of Phil Ross because the notability was clearly defined, and there were two external links to reliable sources. I've done a bit of cleanup as well. Anyway, thought I'd let you know. Best, PeterSymonds | talk 22:57, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Soft water paths?

Mark (?) you appear to have "speedily" requested the deletion of "Soft water paths" while I was still i the process of editing and creating it. As noted, this entry describes a critical new concept in fresh water, already supported by two major peer-reviewed article (one in Science magazine, the other in Nature), plus a book chapter, plus several other articles written by Canadian scientist David Brooks. It parallels a concept "soft energy paths" that is a valid Wikipedia entry already, for the water field. Give me a chance to continue to edit this. JerDan8892 (talk) 03:59, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Fair enough, but it's written in more of an essay form so I'd suggest the first line of WP:NOT#OR, WP:SOAP and WP:NOT#BLOG as to why I had issue with this page. Mr mark taylor (talk) 04:08, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. I will work on improving the tone -- your help is appreciated. But I note, in reference to your pointing out the guidelines, that: 1. It is not something new or original 2. It was previously published, in peer reviewed journals 3. It is not controversial or propaganda. JerDan8892 (talk) 04:18, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

G4

Hi. :) I saw your speedy deletion tag for WP:CSD#G4 on DJ Kitsune. G4 is specifically for material that has been deleted following WP:XfD. Articles deleted by speedy deletion or PROD do not qualify, although (of course) the original concerns may remain. I could not find any evidence that this article had been through WP:AfD, though of course I don't know if it was deleted under a different name. In this case, this article is a copy of this, so it has been deleted under WP:CSD#G12 anyway. I just wanted to bring it up in case you've misunderstood G4 and (if you haven't) to request that you link to the deletion discussion when you tag articles for that concern, by labeling them {{Db-g4|Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Edge hippies}} or what have you. :) This is really only necessary, of course, if the article has been deleted under a different name. But it can be very helpful in those cases. :D --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:39, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion of My Maze

Hey, just wanted to let you know that the Maze i am creating is not to be deleted please. Sure, no full educational value (althoug, it does contain some questions in it that can increase your knowledge of the Quadratic Formulae) but please dont delete it. It is a maze i have been working on for the Administrators in Wikipedia, so please dont delete my hard work. Iamageniusso bow (What i say) (My contributions) 03:29, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

An invite :)

Your activities suggest you might find WP:NRHP of interest. And we don't seem to have anyone from Maine. Whatever y'all decide, keep up the good works. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 01:43, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Adding Photos and Graphics to pages

Hi, I have been a member for four days. I am trying to update an existing site. I also want to add photos and graphics, but Wiki won't allow it. I believe I have to be confirmed in some way after four days to do so. But it has been four days! Can you help? Thanks! Prconsult (talk) 14:45, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm not the best to go to for uploading images (I usually just see articles and edit them). But Special:Upload and WP:IUP will help, also as a general help theres always WP:NEWBIE. As for the 4 days thing, is your e-mail address confirmed? Maybe thats it, if not, if you try uploading images after the first 4 days and it doesn't work I'd ask an admin. Mr mark taylor (talk) 20:49, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Re: Lester Levenson article

Thanks Mark for speedy correction. This is my first independent article at Wikipedia and I am willing student to learn proper ways to make it the better place. I read a lot about Lester Levenson and have strong desire to add/improve the contents soon. In fact I have piles of books surrounding me on the subject - so it's a matter of time to extract nuggets. Sorry for possible misformattings and omissions. (You made 4,000+ additions - wow! My 3 recent ones took me 2 hours :) ) IDreamCatcher (talk) 02:57, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Not a problem, having tools like WP:FRIENDLY help. I have spurts of creating articles although nothing lately, just improvements to the existing and that 4,000 edits are over a two and a half year period, although a large majority of them have come in the last few months. Mr mark taylor (talk) 03:24, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Robot gone wild? WP:MAINE on talk pages of non-existant articles

You created a bunch of Talk: pages for non-existent articles and added WP:MAINE to them. These pages will likely be speedily deleted under criteria G8: Talk pages with no corresponding article page. You would do Wikipedia a great service if you would blank these no-article-exists pages and replace them with {{db-talk}} so an administrator will delete them sooner rather than later.

On a related note, some of your tags are inappropriate. I removed the WP:MAINE tag from Talk:Lists of school districts in the United States. I assume you got it because it was linked from a Maine-related list. Please be careful and less robotic about this in the future.

davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 03:03, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Me and AWB gone wild. I think I've caught 'em all. Honest mistake on my part. Mr mark taylor (talk) 03:19, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
BTW, I rewrote List of school districts in Maine and tagged it's talk page appropriately. Several of the articles listed might need a Maine or other local Wikiproject tag and/or a schools tag. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 05:05, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Danny Leo

why did you delete my article about danny leo. you claim its because the article is about a person but many other articles on this site are about people also. i feel it is unfair that just since danny leo did not make as much as an impact blogging as people like barry bonds has done in baseball, you feel he does not deserve a wikipedia page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dtg33 (talkcontribs) 04:50, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

I did a quick google search on the subject and found no secondary sources (I don't even think I found anything on the Danny Leo in question), read WP:BIO. Mr mark taylor (talk) 04:58, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

WP:HAU

Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. If you have another method, you can use that, too. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Useight (talk) 17:57, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

WDMO

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of WDMO, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: WQOQ. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 20:56, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Radio station article script

Thanks for all your work in creating new article for radio stations. Could I get you to make one minor revision to the template or script that you're using? Right now you're using the date the first call letters in the FCC database were assigned to a station as the date the station "went on the air as" but this is almost never the actual date the station went on the air. Most often several months or a couple of years will go by between the call letters being assigned and the station actual beginning licensed broadcasting. Also, since the database only reliably goes back to 1980 or so, many of the stations with a first call letter note in the early 1980s are actually decades older. If you would replace "went on the air as" with "was assigned the call letters" this would eliminate all of these problems. Thanks! - Dravecky (talk) 11:39, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

WP:HAU, Status, and you!

As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible system) - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues. Please clear this parameter if you change things to be "HAU compatible". Further questions can be raised at WT:HAU. This message was delivered by xenobot 22:57, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Motto of the day

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:49, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
