- How did they not appear constructive? NB.public (talk) 17:37, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
Your edit to Keysight has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. — Diannaa (talk) 21:12, 31 May 2022 (UTC)
Wikipedia and copyright
editHello NB.public! Your additions to Keysight have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 23:44, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Satish Dhanasekaran
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Satish Dhanasekaran, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. ~Anachronist (talk) 20:47, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
- I deleted it just now not only due to the above reasons, but because it contained copyright violations of https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20220224006065/en/Keysight-Technologies-Announces-CEO-Succession - you have been warned about this before. Consider this your final warning. If you violate copyright again, you will be blocked. ~Anachronist (talk) 21:50, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
- I just changed that source. I don't understand why it's being deleted when I've changed the source that violated the copyrights NB.public (talk) 21:58, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, NB.public. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Keysight, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 21:47, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
- I do not have a conflict of interest and am simply trying to create a page to inform others about a CEO of a top S&P 500 company. NB.public (talk) 21:54, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
- All of your edits on Wikipedia are either to the Keysight article or someone associated with the company. Hopefully you can understand why I thought you might be involved with the company. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 22:50, 24 March 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Satish Dhanasekaran
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Satish Dhanasekaran requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://eng.famu.fsu.edu/news/famu-fsu-engineering-alumnus-new-president-and-ceo-keysight-technologies. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
Request reason:
I would like to be considered for being unblocked. I did not know I was violating copyright when posting as I believed it was in my own words. I have just started learning about how Wikipedia works and I will make sure I don't violate it again. I really have enjoyed learning about Wikipedia by editing pages and would like to continue. I never intended on violating copyright. It was an honest mistake as I didn't know a lot about Wikipedia's copyright rules. I truly never meant to violate it as I was typing that section in what I thought was my own words. I have reviewed the copyright rules and I know what went wrong in this case and I promise to not violate them again. I hope you can understand this was an honest mistake and I have learned from it. I would like to be given another chance and be unblocked.
Decline reason:
I can certainly believe that it was an honest mistake, but we must take copyright very seriously to avoid potentially putting Wikipedia in legal jeopardy. I'm not entirely clear on if you now understand that you violated copyright(you said you "believed it was in my own words"; do you now see that it wasn't?) We will need more than your mere assurance here; please describe what copyright is in your own words, when/how copyrighted content may be used on Wikipedia, and what steps you will take to avoid violating copyright in the future. I believe if you do these things that you can be unblocked, but for now I must decline your request. 331dot (talk) 19:21, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:
Yes, I am sorry for my actions, and I do now see that it was a violation of copyright. Copyrighting is a way to protect one’s original thoughts and ideas in a piece of work. By violating copyright you are copying one’s words for expressing an idea, not the actual idea. The original owner of that content is the only one who can distribute such information. Most things are copyrighted, so on Wikipedia it is important to post things in your own words while citing the proper sources. Moving forward I will make sure that I am using my own words and citing the correct sources to back up the information provided. I will make sure to reread before posting and I will use a copyright tracker to make sure I am not violating the policy. I truly am sorry for my actions and I have used this as a learning experience. I will make sure I do better in the future.
Decline reason:
This misses all of WP:FAIRUSE. Additionally, your contributions were inappropriately promotional even outside of WP:COPYRIGHT concerns. Frankly, I see no path forward for you around the article, Keysight and related subjects. Yamla (talk) 12:29, 1 July 2023 (UTC)

If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Someone else will review your request, but the majority of your edits have been about a particular company and its personnel, but you say you have no conflict of interest. If you have no association with this company, how did you come to edit about it and its personnel? 331dot (talk) 11:25, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
I do not have no association with the person who's page I am trying to edit.
- Perhaps you should clarify that ambiguous double-negative sentence. And you evaded the specific question that was asked of you, which was how you came to edit about that company and its personnel. Do you have friends or acquaintances working for that company? Is the person a friend, acquaintance, relative, employer, coworker, or other kind of associate? ~Anachronist (talk) 03:40, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- I do not have any association with this person. I simply know of the company he works for and wanted to know more about the person running it. But in no way do I have any sort of connection to the company or the person whose page I am trying to create. NB.public (talk) 17:35, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
