Ikwerre people

edit

  Hello. Your recent edit to Ikwerre people appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 14:02, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much Arjayay for your message. I am quite new and still learning. The person I added is quite notable considering his position in Ikwerre land, among the Ikwerre people. However considering Wikipedia standards too, I do understand what you mean. I will take off that edit now and like you said, confirm that the subject qualifies for an article according to Wikipedia's guideline; and then of course create a profile page. Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Nellydieli. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Simeon Chituru Achinewhu, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Kaizenify (talk) 13:30, 13 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Kaizenify, many thanks for reaching across to me with your observations. Really appreciate.

I say categorically that I do not have a COI in this article, and the subject is not related to me. Presently I am a student of Abia State University, Uturu.

Is there a particular item in the article that is promotional, and you would want to see removed? Please do well to advise. I sure appreciate the fact that your interest is based on your (our common) interest to make Wikipedia a better place by adding articles and edits that are factual and verifiable from reliable sources.

Meanwhile I will sure go through the various articles you have recommended and ensure to use the request edit form in future.

I strongly look forward to learning from you guys who have gone ahead of me. You know as we say it in 9ja "carry me along o!" Thanks so much and I look forward to your further feedback on this.

I also (in fact my group in the WikiAfLIB cohort 1 training) need to reach out to you for information on the Nigeria User Group.

Thanks to hear back. Nellydieli (talk) 15:12, 13 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Nellydieli:; many thanks for your candid response. Really happy to know that you are a Nigerian especially that you are a student and that you were part of the WikiAflia cohort 1 which my good friend Alice coordinated as I am a good friend of the house and have been at intervals in some of the meetings to share my Wikipedia interest. Just few weeks ago, we were at ABSU and looking at the possibility of creating Wikimedia Fan club there as part of Wikimedia Nigeria outreach system so proper training and mentoring as regard contributing to the Wikimedia projects cam be further accelerated and so will be good to connect with you and also welcome you into the robust Wikimedia Nigeria community. I sent this message about COI to your talk page purposely because of your heavy contributions to the article and mainly because of the image which you claimed as “own work” while I understand that you might be naive about it but it’s important to note that Wikipedia frowns completely at copyrighted images without permission so the image should only bear “own work” if you are the one that snapped it or you have expressively gotten permission from the owner through OTTS documentation and if you are actually the owner(I.e you took the image yourself) then means there is a COI involve as you have a relationship with the subject; hope you do understand? Anyway do have my warmest regards and daaalu. Kaizenify (talk) 18:07, 13 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi Kaizenify, many thanks. I appreciate your feedback. Yes, I did partake of the WikiAfLia cohort 1 training and I was present online the day you handled the training. Thanks much for that bit. Yes o! Omo 9ja ni mi, original. I had to revert to Alice the moment I received your mail because I knew she would assist clarify issues - still trying to find my feet in the Wikipedia platform. But now I have you also to assist me whenever I need an issue sorted out. I hope???

Meanwhile, I pulled off the paragraph - Fellowship of professional associations already. I thought that was the bone of contention as this has no reference. Is this not the case? How mistaken. Presently I am working on my Dissertation and have heavy writings to do, hence I am not able at this time to source relevant citation for this paragraph either online or from the subject. Besides I am still training with the cohort 2 set. I believe there would always be new knowledge to gain. Else, I will partake for the fun of it anyway.

So, you were in ABSU recently? Great. Did you meet with Professor Udo Nwachukwu - NALISE Chairman? ABSU is very much involved with NALISE. As I understand, the immediate past and the present H.O.Ds - Library and Information Science Prof. Unagha and Dr. Ibenne (among others) are active members. I am actually running my Masters Degree presently (had my BLIS in same school) and commute from Port Harcourt. However if there is something I can assist with there, I will gladly do so.

As for the picture, what further action is required that I take (since there is a COI. I met the subject this year only because of Wikipedia training)? Kindly advise so I can do the needful - This is not a paid service IN ANYWAY but strictly my own little contribution to knowledge on Wikipedia; and in any case, Wikipedia's rules must be adhered to. Thank you. (I thought it is best to take my own pictures (though inconveniencing), as it saves me from issues with copyright). What do you think?

Also, I will like to have your WhatsApp number. My group in the cohort 1 class (NG group 1) will like to relate with you.

Thanks to hear from you again and again. Nellydieli (talk) 12:18, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
