Speedy deletion of Image:Lamwoo2.svg

edit

A tag has been placed on Image:Lamwoo2.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is a redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Lamwoo2.svg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Disambiguous Lam Woo (disambiguation)

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Lam Woo (disambiguation), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Lam Woo (disambiguation) is a disambiguation page that only points to a single article, or no articles at all.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Lam Woo (disambiguation), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Please more read about New York and Hong Kong because jumping into any conclusion. If Hong Kong is like New York, why HK has its own currency? and how come all HK's website ends with .hk ? As far as I know, there is no such currency named "New York dollor" nor any New York's website ends with .ny. I will appreciate if u stop comparing HK to NY. --Da Vynci (talk) 15:17, 1 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I never doubt the autonomy of Hong Kong. It is simply because the heading column is country. And you are putting a non-country item in a country column. That's all. I have no other political or any other stands. -Ngckmax (talk) 15:21, 1 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • If u honestly never doubt the autonomy of Hong Kong, I wonder why u stated "Hong Kong is just like New York City", knowing that New Yorks City doesn't have NY dollar and doesn't have a different official language from the rest of USA. If u honestly never doubt the autonomy of Hong Kong, u would know it is often treated just like a country on international setting in practice. What written on papaer isn't always correct, just like North Korea's official name is Democratic People's Republic of Korea, does it means we should put that into the list of democratic countries on the world? --Da Vynci (talk) 18:42, 1 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
    • I don't know why you keep on stressing my wrong comparison between Hong Kong and New York City. Yes, I agree with you that Hong Kong is not comparable to New York City. (New York City is like Shanghai of China, agree?) But it doesn't affect my stand. I just want to give that example to show that Hong Kong is not a country. Regarding Hong Kong is treated independently from China, Yes of course I agree (I'm born and raised in Hong Kong, educated by the western system, reading foreign news everyday). But have you noticed that in such occasions, for example in Olympics and APEC, "Hong Kong, China" should be used. It's widely adopted in all international organizations and foreign ministries of other countries.
    • And very important, it's based on the Sino-British Joint Declaration and Basic Law (Article 151). Never initiated by me. Please read the Basic Law in detail. -Ngckmax (talk) 19:32, 1 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

(sorry i have to reply here to keep the conversation continuious)

Just to remind you, adding the word ",China" behind Hong Kong serves no identification purpose at all, as Hong Kong has been using the name Hong Kong as a country name for more than 150 years. As a result, it is clearly not about identification, the only plausible function of adding the word ",China" is political, a tool that the Communist propaganda use to belittle Hong Kong to, as you precisely pointed out earlier, a mere city. However, the primary function of a name is to identify, not to cater propaganda intents. If you really want to follow what is propagated name (Hong Kong, China) instead of what the de facto name (Hong Kong) is, perhaps you should also start believing Democratic People's Republic of Korea is a democratic country and start referring North Korea as Democratic Korea? --Da Vynci (talk) 05:14, 2 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Whether Hong Kong is technically a country is not important here because, on wikipedia the de factos is often priortized over the propagated. That's why most articles refers Republic of China as Taiwan, not Chinese Taipei (except few articles like Olympic & WHO). Names used in Olympics are sometime politically engineered but hardly commonly used, since when you have heard Jay Chou is referred as Chinese Taipei singer instead of Taiwanese singer? --Da Vynci (talk) 05:14, 2 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • I don't know why you always relate the issue to politics and accuse me of thinking politics while I am actually not. (Are you overly sensitive?) I really don't know why you would think of Communist propaganda as Hong Kong is not a country (a simple neutral fact), while Hong Kong is to attend country-level occasion, just to indicate it is not a country and its sovereignty state. This indication to its sovereignty state cannot make people think of any propaganda as all, as a politically neutral people, it's just for clarification when others find a non-country territory here. For its indication of its sovereignty, I don't know anything wrong, Hong Kong is far away to compare with Taiwan. (This time you are using wrong comparison.) Except you are, from the beginning to the end, an anti-China/Communist person.
  • Moreover, don't don't don't impose any of your creative thinking on me, e.g. believing North Korea is a democratic state. Before you have evidence that show I might have this thinking. I just have nothing to say when you adding this imaginary thinking on the others. --Ngckmax (talk) 00:51, 3 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Again you fail to understand the difference between de facto and de jure. Hong Kong has been commonly treated as a country internationally in practice for 150+ years, whether technically it is one or not. This explains why everytime when you tried to mess with it, almost immediately there are somebody else resotred it .

If the name "Hong Kong, China" that you bought up as "evidence" to claim Hong Kong is a mere city, the name Democratic People's Republic of Korea could also be bought up as "evidence" to claim North Korea as a demorcatic country.

Name could be misleading sometimes. --Da Vynci (talk) 12:41, 3 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:43, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
