Wikipedia and copyright
editHello Nik9hil, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Takri script have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 12:35, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

editThe Kolong language and Lahuli language are the same languages. Could you see if you could merge them? — Sagotreespirit (talk) 23:36, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
- (ping Sagotreespirit)I am sorry, but what all references I have seen, there is not a single place where the language is called Stod Bhoti. There is also Spiti Bhoti. Do you mind sharing references? Nik9hil (talk) 18:35, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
Takri
editHi Nik9hil, I was just curious about how did you write the names of languages in a computer generated Takri font. As per my knowledge, Takri has not been assigned unicodes yet. I would highly appreciate if you could share your technique as this would bring a revolutionary impact in the revival movement of our Takri script.
- (ping Binsarhills). I see you had made up a cropped up image for Jaunsari in Takri. I would like to inform you, that the version of Takri used to write Jaunsari & Sirmauri is very different from the Unicode Takri. As of now, Sirmauri-Jaunsari Takri is under proposal to be encoded separately in Unicode ( check this out: Sirmauri-Jaunsari Takri Proposal ), so kindly don't confuse between the two. As I found that there is someone like you who finds Takri necessary for Jaunsari, I inserted an image of handwritten Sirmauri-Jaunsari Takri for the name: Jaunsari. You can cross check it from the pdf I have shared. As of now, this is under progress, but due to lack of enough sources, the task of encoding it has been pending. If by any chance, you have any, literally any source in this script, I request you to share it with me (I will give the due credits no worries). I am in contact with the person who is encoding this Sirmauri-Jaunsari Takri script in Unicode. It would be a great help, if you could get it done for us.
- Coming to how I created that image. There is online script converter. You can create image from here. For Takri alphabet Table.
- To generally learn more about different Pahari languages of Uttarakhand, Himachal & Jammu & Kashmir, you may follow me on Twitter, I post content in these languages. Nik9hil (talk) 18:19, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
- That's great. May I put forward a request? The research and scholarly articles and I attached in the Garhwali page indicate that some dialects of Garhwali and Gaddi employed the Takri script in the past. I have done a temporary job back there but I am confident that you can pull it off better. Binsarhills (talk) 21:03, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
- Till the official specimens are out, maybe we could do work with the the default versions Takri? Binsarhills (talk) 21:04, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
- (ping Binsarhills). Thanks for replying. As far as I know, Jaunpuri (which at times is considered as dialect of Garhwali) was also written using Takri script. But I am afraid if rest of the Garhwali people used it, let alone Kumaoni. Nevertheless, forward me what you have on: pahari.tabbar@gmail.com. Also, kindly look into if you can get any specimen in Sirmauri-Jaunsari Script; it would be of alot of help. Having said this, it is much be better that we further discuss about Takri & languages on the twitter account I have shared. Its fine, you don't need to follow me, but discussing further over here won't be easy, as I don't always check Wikipedia. Nik9hil (talk) 04:42, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
- Sure. Cheers. Binsarhills (talk) 13:43, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
- (ping Binsarhills). Which Pahari language do you speak? Asking, because we are under creating Swadesh list(a list of common 206 words) for every Pahari language of Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand & Himachal Pradesh. It would be helpful if you can contribute here(click here). It might be that your language is not mentioned in the table yet. For that, tell me which language you would contribute. It would be really helpful if you can help us over here.Nik9hil (talk) 12:52, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
Hi Nik9hil, my patriarchal family belongs to the kumaoni community and matriarchal family belongs to the Jaunpuri/Garhwali 'kala' community. Unfortunately, it's been two generations since we left pahad and all pahadi I could learn was from the conversations between my grandparents. We still have ancestoreal property up in the hills which we visit every year. I will try to help you out with some basic phrases which I learnt over the time. Also I have an advice for you. For getting some grip over various pahari languages, listen to a few songs in that particular language. You will intuitively feel that all the languages have a common root with words getting a little bit tweeked. For example, here in Bangani 're' is same as 'de' in Kangri Hindi|Bangani|Kangri Ki. Ri. Di Ke. Re. De Ka. Ra. Da
