Alexshin order

Hi. I think you need to at least state the name and author of the book in the lead section of the article, to place the article in its proper context, and you need to provide a reliable source that people can check. If you don't do that, it's likely to be nominated for deletion again - at least as being unsourced/non-notable -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 12:36, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

The reason why your google search did not find matches are that the Alexshin order is 1) a fictional organization in a book series 2)that the books have not been sold or published at all, but are so far for private use only 3) all members are anonymous. - Ninja of Tao, anonymous author of the "Alexshinia" book series.

You've just demolished your own case, I'm afraid. A fictional organisation whose members are anonymous in an unpublished book (or books) doesn't stand a chance of having an article. Please look at WP:GNG for general notability guidelines, and WP:RS for how to give the required sources. And WP:NOTWEBSPACE or WP:SPAM whichever is appropriate, too. I wrote the books myself, and I recently decided putting up some information about it online. I figured Wikipedia would be the best. The books will be published in 2012, though they only exist in Swedish. I - the author - will though remain anonymous online until the books are complete.

I'm afraid another bit of policy comes in here - WP:CRYSTAL. Wikipedia is not for things in the future. It is an encyclopaedia, and for things that can (and MUST be) referenced to reliable sources. Independent sources. I must admit as a writer myself that it is sometimes tempting to put something up on an unpublished project, but I know the rules too well to give in. When your books are published, AND achieve coverage in independent sources (and are not self-published through lulu or PublishAmerica or similar), then an article will probably be OK. (Self-published only get articles when very good coverage in independent sources is seen. Possibly unfair, but some utter rubbish gets published through those places.) Just thought I'd add a bit of moral support here. I'm a writer by profession (in a non-fiction field), but nothing I've written satisfies the Wikipedia notability guidelines and so doesn't get Wikipedia articles - but that's quite correct, and I have no complaints. I'm writing some series of books in different categories: 1 series of fiction/fantasy, 2 series of historical adventures (in Japan and Sweden), and of course the action/adventure filled Alexshinia series. I'd appreciate if you could give me some tips.

Very basic tips: Speak your dialogue; don't use 'said' for every line of dialogue, but if running on from speaker to speaker without a form of 'said Bill' 'said Joe', make sure it's clear who said what; if being historical, do research thoroughly and then check again; if doing fantasy, you can make your own rules, but do make them and be consistent; if in real world, get the geography right (not like the da Vince Code, apparently); remember who is who and where they were (the great Edgar Wallace wrote so fast that characters sometimes changed name halfway through a book...); and above all, re-read after an interval from working on it - you may find mistakes, and also you may need to alter things to fit something written later. Apart from that, if you don't enjoy writing it and re-reading it, nobody else is going to enjoy reading it. I am responding here, as well as on my talk page, to your question about the deletion of Military equipment of Sweden during WWII. It is clear from your talk page that you are attempting to add a lot of material to WP, without learning some basic things about the 'culture' and expected behaviour of editors. I appreciate that you have put a lot of work into your articles, but WP is an encyclopedia in which all statements have to be supported by evidence. If these rules are not followed WP would fill up with all sorts of inaccuracies, and therefore lose its value to those who use it.

So - you must have found the information about Sweden from somewhere. You are expected to state that source as a reference, so that others can feel confident about believing the article. The only reason that your article was deleted is that you have not provided references to support what you have written.

At the top of this page someone put a welcome message with links to the documentation of all the basic information you need to successfully write articles, without getting them deleted. I urge you to read this material and follow the guidelines. Otherwise you will continue to have your work deleted because there is a whole community of editors, who police the adding of new articles, so that quality is maintained. This is not a personal attack on your work. I notice you have other articles related to Sweden and I suggest you begin by adding references to them to protect them from deletion.

If you plan to become a regular editor, can I also make a friendly suggestion that putting some information about yourself on your User page will help create good relationships with other editors? Sorry if I am posting this the wrong way (I am still not experienced with talking to people through a Wikia talk page). Indeed you are correct that the link has no proof that the file creator has licensed it under the given license. But the image is posted in a public domain (the homepage of Swedish Armémuseum), and according to Swedish copyright laws such images can be used for information or educational purposes without requesting permission from the file's owner, as long as the file's owner is clearly stated wherever the file is posted. I need that picture on this site because it's the only picture I could find of the weapon in question, so I would appreciate someone's help in uploading the same file under acceptable license. No, the swedish IP-law (what you call "copyright laws") don't have the rules that you say. That a picture, that is "public domain" can be used for information or educational purposes without requesting permission from the file's owner, as long as the file's owner is clearly stated wherever the file is posted. Its not true. Am I posting this reply correctly? Never understood how the talk page worked... anyways, thank you for your comments. I do indeed plan to upload it once I've finished writing the information and found reliable references. The only thing I cannot find references to are the casualties: those were added together by looking at every individual battle, so I don't know if it's reliable evidence. Many more might have died from hunger, disease, famine and so on, but all battle casualties were listed in the article. I hope to be able to finish it in a week or so. Yes, you can either reply here at your talk page, or you could go to mine User talk:Imonoz, make a new content, in this case Polish-Swedish war (1701-1706) and reply there (then I would also get a notification). It could be reliable (with the casualties), provided the battles you're visiting have reliable sources. However, one got to avoid WP:OR. Surely many more died of diseases and so on, not to mention all the 1,000+ skirmishes. However, a good way you could put it is 6,597 and 39,894 casualties in "larger battles". I'll see if I find any references of total casualties, might be hard though. Anyways, keep going with the good job. Imonoz (talk) 13:51, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

Actually I provided you with two articles in my last post, one during the Russian invasion of Finland and the other of the Baltic war. What I am trying to say here is that another Baltic war article is not necessary, as it already exist, for example. Expand on the existing ones instead. Same should go for the Polish-Swedish war (1701-1706) [this name is not completely correct, as the nations were not officially in war until later], instead Charles XII invasion of Poland is more fitting, or Charles XII war on Augustus as the king declared war not on the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth itself but on August personally. Here the invasion of Saxony could be included, as it's purely the same theater only in different nations. There's also need for an article prior to the war with a more advanced look as of why it started, what the allied planned to gain, why they attacked Sweden etc. Imonoz (talk) 18:37, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

Karl XII - 282,000 google hits, Charles XII - 796,000 google hits. As seen here, 'Charles XII' is clearly the accepted name in modern English. Please do not add infoboxes to pages on Norse deities. These topics are way too complex to be summed up in an infobox, and the issue has arisen in the past and infobox addition has been rejected. Because of an incident on a site not related to Wikipedia, including me sharing the account there with a friend, I was accused of rule violations and (by some people) even actual crimes, after being subjected to several years of harassment by other members as well as the forum staff. While I find such behavior unacceptable I also see my mistake in sharing the account as it can easily lead to such misunderstandings, and I will refrain from providing others with my password(s) in the future. I believe that the entire situation awoke from one of three possible sources: 1) my friend committed such acts through our shared account, 2) a third party had used our account for such, or 3) I was accused of violating the forum rules as a way to simply "get rid of me". I was always a strong debater and had some, by their standards, controversial views that came into conflict with members of the forum staff. But unlike my opposition I never resorted to threats or personal insults in these debates, and I believe that my friend did not either. That is all I know regarding the vandalism of my user page, and I apologize if it is not very helpful. I posted his/her concerns on BLP (oops, forgot to notify you; sorry!) which resulted in a quick "nope, not a BLP" and User:Catboxx12 being permanently blocked. Though still wants to complain.
