- Hi User:PaleCloudedWhite: Great image! Please feel free to contact me for collaboration on any horticulture and gardening articles, and have a great 2014. Northamerica1000(talk) 11:00, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks North. I'm afraid I let the H+G COTM slip a bit, as I didn't have much time for editing for much of the year. Perhaps have a bash at just 1 article per month, rather than 5? PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 12:11, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
- (ping) PaleCloudedWhite: I'll keep this in mind, for several reasons. 1 article per month is better than none per month. Also, you have impressed me in the past with your knowledge of horticulture/gardening topics and your ability to improve articles in these topic areas. Many of these are rather niche topics compared to more general popular culture topics that tend to receive more input, and it can be rare to find editors that have an interest in these areas. Keep in touch! Northamerica1000(talk) 12:17, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for your compliment! I think you are right that there is a paucity of editors in this area - some gardening articles are rather, er, patchy. I've been a professional gardener for 23 years, which provides some practical background knowledge, though I am largely self-taught and thus don't have many specialist sources (though that can always be rectified!). If you want to restart the COTM, just let me know. PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 13:52, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
- User:PaleCloudedWhite: I am fond of gardening, agriculture/horticulture, etc., so yes, let's please keep in touch. I'm rusty editing in these areas lately, so always feel free to send suggestions for collaboration. Northamerica1000(talk) 17:40, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 4
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of desserts, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bear claw (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

snow keep close
[1] I don't think you can do this. It wasn't a snow keep since one editor other than the nominator did want to delete it. Also, letting it stay open the full seven days will allow more people to participate, and the more people that say keep, the less likely it'll be nominated later on down the line. Dream Focus 16:58, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
- In light of your suggestion, I've simplified the close as keep, minus the snow addendum. Technically, WP:SNOW fits, due to the refutation of the nomination being very thorough and policy-based within the discussion, and the inevitability of the discussion being closed as such relative to the arguments presented therein. Northamerica1000(talk) 17:04, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi there. I'm sorry to land this on you, but would you happen to know how to make a complaint about another user to the moderators? ~roman 1984~ (talk) 13:13, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Deleted article Nickola Shreli resurrected
Hi. I just encountered the Nickola Shreli article & was about to nominate it for deletion when I checked the talk page and noted that it had just been deleted.
I suspect that AlbertBikaj doesn't comprehend what not notable and deletion actually means, as he/she has reinstated the page. Cheers! Please note that I have left the same message on DUCKISJAMMMY's talk page. Cheers! --Iryna Harpy (talk) 00:49, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Hi User:Iryna Harpy: I've prodded the article as an unsourced biography of a living person, because All biographies of living people created after March 2010 must have at least one reference to a reliable source. Northamerica1000(talk) 06:26, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- He's definitely NOT notable. The IMDB page reference was all there was (&, of course, we don't use IMDB as a WP:V or WP:RS): according to that he's only had a few minor roles or that of an extra. Promo push. The sooner it's on it's merry way, the better. I'll follow up on any re-opening of a deletion discussion. It's a no-brainer and shouldn't have to be dealt with a second time. Doesn't meet any of the criteria for notability. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 09:25, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- His roles in Abduction and Hostel: Part III seem to be significant. One he was a main villain a notable director cast him in, and the other he was one of the main characters, and both films have Wikipedia articles already. You could probably source any personal information to his official website, if he didn't have all these strange symbols making it hard to navigate and find anything, and the information about what films he was in can be sourced to the credits of those films. Dream Focus 16:57, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Dream Focus, a discussion has been started on the relevant Nickola Shreli talk page. As his notability is in question, suggestions have been made there as to a course of action (although I doubt there's enough to go on to need to table an AfD). You're welcome to state your case there. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 04:37, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

- Hi User:Tomwsulcer: I've always been a proponent of gardening, foodscaping, urban agriculture, etc. It's amazing how disconnected people can be regarding our foods and how they are grown and produced. Some people may go their entire lives only purchasing produce at grocery stores, never raising their own food. Then, of course, there's the carbon footprint that is ever-growing, because all of that food is trucked-in. Conversely to this notion, see local food, locavore, Community garden, etc. Northamerica1000(talk) 17:00, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
- Yes. In my town wherever I see sunlight and open space, I wonder: why not plant something edible? There is a cooperative growing area, fenced in against deer, where lots of stuff was grown. I encourage neighbors to plant tomatoes since they're fairly easy to grow and (most important) turn red when ready. You know highway medians? Only grass; why not plant edible stuff, but then it could possibly bring more deer and accidents, but I agree there can be more ways to do things more efficiently.--Tomwsulcer (talk) 17:37, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

Merge for Foul (basketball)
You declared a consensus decision to merge this article into Personal foul (basketball). I have edited this page; while I did not merge it completely into personal foul (as the concept of foul is broader than personal fouls), I did reduce the page to an overview and a feeder to the articles on specific classes of foul. The respective talk pages and the Change Summaries have more information.
If you think this closes the issue, then please remove the templates from the pages. Otherwise, I will continue to watch the pages and stand ready to edit them further to address concerns. Spike-from-NH (talk) 17:06, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
- Hello User:Spike-from-NH: Thanks for the notification. Per new input at the discussion, I have revised the discussion to no consensus, and have removed the merge template from Personal foul (basketball) and Foul (basketball). Northamerica1000(talk) 02:53, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
Chicken sandwich
Thanks for the beer. To go with that, one might have a grilled chicken sandwich. That's off currently but I recently reviewed something similar at DYK. My wikitime varies lately, but the Chicken sandwich article has much potential to be improved. I'd be more inclined to improve the former, rather than the BK grilled chicken sandwiches article. Northamerica1000(talk) 15:35, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- I've really got my teeth into the BK Broiler now. It's fine if you're busy with other pages but the DYK could use some input to help establish a consensus as we're not agreeing there. Andrew (talk) 22:54, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- I'm going to pass on contributing to that DYK discussion at this time. Northamerica1000(talk) 13:18, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

Zheng Cao
Hi North. Would you know of someone who would be interested in expanding the Zheng Cao article? I added a further reading section with URLs to significant source material on the topic for someone to expand the article. -- Jreferee (talk) 15:11, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

Your relisting of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/World News (WN) Network
Hi. I've just reverted your relisting of the AfD (disclosure: I'm the nominator) because I don't think that it has too few participants, or that the existing arguments are clearly not based in policy (going by WP:RELIST). Given that the consensus isn't obvious, I'd be more comfortable with it if an admin made the call (whether it's closing or relisting). Thanks. wctaiwan (talk) 02:57, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
- Hi User:Wctaiwan: No problem, and thanks for letting me know. The nomination states that only one available source provides significant independent coverage, whereas other reasons to retain the article have been posited by several editors, so relisting to better-obtain consensus was functional. As you have stated, consensus isn't obvious, which is actually in part a good reason to re-list. However, I also respect your stance, so we'll see how it goes without being re-listed from here. Northamerica1000(talk) 04:52, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
- (ping) User:Wctaiwan: Update: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/World News (WN) Network was closed by another user with a result of no consensus. Northamerica1000(talk) 10:55, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, I saw. I didn't think keeping the discussion open for another week would bring many more arguments for either side. Closing as no consensus seems fairly appropriate to me. Thanks for being understanding. wctaiwan (talk) 17:47, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

pakimpex.com declined
Hi Northamerica1000,
You've declined the topic pakimpex.com and the reason was it does not have proper reference, as you know archive.org is very authenticated website for seeing websites as they look in previous years and it is not possible to edit its listing. Pakimpex.com was first listed in January 2004 at archive.org and its link is attached and at that time there were not any other b2b website in Pakistan, which makes pakimpex.com 1st b2b website of Pakistan and i believe it is enough for its popularity, i think this topic should be created, later more people can edit and add more data. Please guide. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 39.45.195.236 (talk) 10:47, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
- Hello: The AfC submission at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/pakimpex.com needs the addition of independent, third-party reliable sources about the topic to verify information within it and to qualify the topic's notability. Please feel free to add more reliable sources that preferably provide significant coverage of this subject, the latter of which serves to establish topic notability per Wikipedia's guidelines, and thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. Brewery Lists
I left a comment on IronGargoyle's talk page regarding the breweries of the U.S. It's really getting crazy! I went to Vermont list today to find a particular brewery and add a citation, only to find the entire list gone and also redirected to another page - and the list had been removed from that page as well! Diffs are in my note to the editor who created the situation. I saw your unanswered communication above and wished to inform you that I am very concerned about this and seek consensus. Any ideas? Ellin Beltz (talk) 16:16, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- Hello User:Ellin Beltz: Regarding List of breweries in Vermont, it would be nice to see the previous state of the article per its Revision history, but it's not accessible due to the admin redirect (diff). Some content from List of breweries in Vermont has been merged by User:IronGargoyle into the Brewing in Vermont article, though (diff). Northamerica1000(talk) 19:13, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- Hi again! The Vermont breweries were readded to that page by the other editor after discussion between he and I on his talk page. I am very concerned that this redirecting method loses all the citations and names of entities which were previously on the list page. If he'd just wait a week we could make sure they're all categorized correctly and the citations moved over to the article he prefers, but the fast redirections are losing all the data which means that after the fact (when the list is gone) it can be said to have been "without citations" or whatever because no one can see it anymore. In fact, most of the lists that were wiped by redirecting were in fairly good shape. It's sad. There's so much real work to do instead of repainting the light bulbs. Ellin Beltz (talk) 16:16, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
- User:Ellin Beltz: You should consider communicating more with User:IronGargoyle on their talk page about these matters, as they're more likely to read it there. I've added "See also: Ninkasi Brewing Company (Revision history)" to a discussion thread there. Northamerica1000(talk) 16:22, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
- Honest, I already did that! My paragraphs are above yours declining the "prod" tag on Hair of the Dog! Previously I expanded an article on Lost Coast Brewing Company to remove the prod tag from it as well. They're one of the largest private manufacturing employers in Humboldt County and set to expand four-fold with their new facility currently under construction. I've learned a lot about brewing in the last few days, not that I really care because I don't drink! Ellin Beltz (talk) 16:57, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
- Below are some more brewery articles that can be improved. Northamerica1000(talk) 20:04, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi again! I got to Oskar Blues Brewery today, if you could take a look? I will work on the Otter one later. Cheers! Ellin Beltz (talk) 23:53, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the significant improvements to Oskar Blues Brewery. Less than a week ago it was proposed for deletion; now it's a well-sourced article. Great work! Northamerica1000(talk) 05:28, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
- User:Ellin Beltz: Also, here's two more that were prodded, which I added sources to and deprodded. Northamerica1000(talk) 05:36, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
- I was working on Otter Creek Brewing this morning and got no further than the talk page where I found an interesting question. I spent my morning time on answering that question and ran out of time for the Otter Creek page, I will get back to it asap. Ellin Beltz (talk) 17:09, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
I am beginning to get frustrated with User:IronGargoyle but I do not know how to proceed. It is as if he waits to pounce on anything "wrong" with any of the brewery lists, most recently with the California one, and instantly deletes the information. Unless I read the WP guidelines wrong, we are supposed to find citations for unsourced materials first, use a "citation needed" tag if we can't find it, wait a while and then delete any uncited factoid. As it was, someone added two breweries today, in good faith and before I had time to fix the edit he was already deleting it. IG hasn't answered all the notes I've left him before, I can't see that adding more to his talk page is going to do much good. Any ideas? This is beginning to seem like a "reverse publicity stunt" or someone with a (pardon the expression) hair up his ass about the topic. Ellin Beltz (talk) 23:40, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
PS: I worked on the Otter Creek page until I think it is safe from deletion, please take a peek at it and see what can be improved. I'm sure I forgot or left something out! Ellin Beltz (talk) 23:41, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
- Hi User:Ellin Beltz: The easiest way to counter removal of red links is to find and add coverage from reliable sources to qualify their inclusion in lists through verification, per WP:CSC, as long as (per WP:CSC) "...it is reasonable to expect an article could be forthcoming in the future." I've noticed the improvements to the Otter Creek Brewing article too, (which I have also worked on to improve), and thanks for your work there. Northamerica1000(talk) 23:46, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
- Hi again! The other user doesn't give me time to put citations on redlinks, he reverts the edits before I even come online! I have written him once again on his talk page asking him to use citation needed tags instead of these constant reversions and prods. Ellin Beltz (talk) 23:53, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
- User:Ellin Beltz: Well, sometimes people disagree with how things should be done. I recommend adding references as one goes, rather than filling them in later. Hey, check out the new Further reading section I added to List of breweries in California. Northamerica1000(talk) 23:57, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
