Re:Overturned delist decision where quorum/minimum delist votes criterion not satisfied
editPlease see my comments on User talk:Makeemlighter. Wikipedia talk:Featured picture candidates would be the appropriate place to open a discussion if you wish to continue this. J Milburn (talk) 15:10, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
Re:Community input required: lowering delist bar at FPC
editThat message you're sending around is utter bullshit. It is no way neutrally worded, and is clearly a violation of the guidelines on canvassing. You make quite clear that what you're talking about here is some people choosing to ignore "the rules", and then some supporting abolishing "the rules". What has actually happened is that you and Julia have become annoyed that the current practice does not reflect the way you like it done, and then gotten annoyed when someone tried to update the rules (which should be descriptive, not prescriptive) to reflect the fact that current practice is different. Also, I can only assume it's a complete coincidence that you decided to call for wider input when you realised that the majority of people do not agree with your scheme. J Milburn (talk) 23:57, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- You should be grateful as any decision that runs counter to the large scale consensus previously obtained wouldn't be believable if it's based on only three of you giving input. Next thing, you'll tell me that those people wouldn't be affected, which they will be. Everyone that's part of the project. As for paranoia, hearsay and bad faith, ... Papa Lima Whiskey 2 (talk) 07:57, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
- I should be grateful? Thank you, oh merciful lord. Seriously, pull the other one. You're mischaracterising an argument (an argument you started, and an argument in which you're veru much the minority view) and canvassing for support. That's against policy. There's not really anything to debate or discuss here. J Milburn (talk) 13:21, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
- It's neutrally phrased, but I suppose taking your position, I should accuse you of complaining only because things didn't go your way. But let's not manipulate history: I merely noticed an unorthodox closure and piped up about it. The rest of you then went with trying to shake up the whole system that, as I'll keep repeating, was actually running perfectly happily before, and would have continued doing so in the absence of your side's inability to resist the temptation to reintroduce bias and oligarchy. Papa Lima Whiskey 2 (talk) 14:28, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
- I'm going to assume you genuinely are delusional here, rather than just a troll. Let me explain, once again, how wrong you are. I will put it in nice simple bullet points for you.
- It was not neutrally worded. If you can't see that, I can't convince you. Just take my word for it. If you genuinely want me to explain it, ask, and I will. I can show you, but I can't make you see.
- I am "complaining" because you are violating policy in an attempt to turn a debate your way. That seems to be a pretty legitimate reason to "complain".
- You noticed a closure which is contrary to how you like it. As has been demonstrated, there have been numerous closures in that manner in recent months- the practice has changed. It was not the closure which was aberrant, it was your view of it.
- No one started to shake up the system. The system was already adapting, it was you who saw fit to create drama, because you were not happy with how it was adapting. This is no kind of "J Milburn and his cronies trying to change things"- it's you who's trying to change things.
- It was not running happily, it was a fucking mess. It was incredibly difficult to get anything delisted, no matter how obviously the image needed to be delisted. That may be "happy" in your little world, but a lot saw issue with it, as is shown by the attempts to change it.
- There is no "side". A lot of people have a lot of different opinions- I can only assume that a lot of people have similar opinions to me because, firstly, this is how things have been done for some time now, and, secondly, because it mirrors the way just about every other process on Wikipedia works (obviously, no one is agreeing with the notion put forward by me because it's reasonable. As you've already decided, there's absolutely no way it could be reasonable.)
- So far as I am aware, no one is trying to introduce an "oligarchy", or anything even remotely like it. Not once has a notion such as (for instance) "admin-only closure" or "director-only closure" been thrown about; these could be seen as an oligarchy, but how any of the notions put forward by "my" "side" in any way resemble an oligarchy is beyond me.
- If you're genuinely struggling with any of these points, I will explain them. And yes, I am being patronising, because you apparently have absolutely no idea what's going on. J Milburn (talk) 14:45, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Mezcala Bridge FP category
editHi, I noticed that you put the Mezcala Bridge under Wikipedia:Featured pictures/Places/Panorama, but when I nominated it I said that the category was Wikipedia:Featured pictures/Places/Architecture. I've added it to Architecture for the moment but I haven't removed it from Panorama. Because the nom stated that the category was Architecture, I think that it should stay there. What do you think? Pine(talk) 22:17, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- OK, if there are no objections, we can leave it in panoramas. Pine(talk) 05:53, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
