Dexter's Laboratory

Well, as I'm sure you've seen, I managed to find a little extra time, haha. And in lieu of a peer review, I figured I'd go ahead and make some of the expansions that I thought necessary for the article.

I've really enjoyed working on it these past few weeks and wish that I could keep going - but the amount of time that I have for Wikipedia right now is pretty limited, so I think that I need to pass the baton. If you're wanting to bring the article to FA, then there's still a lot of information out there that could be added. I never even got around to incorporating everything contained in the handful of sources that I was working from, so pulling out additional information from those could be a place to start. But there should also be plenty of sources that haven't been utilized at all yet. If you need help finding some of them, let me know. I spent a lot of time running into dead ends, before I managed to track down anything useful, so I'm aware of how tricky it can be to locate quality sources. Google Books is probably going to be your best bet.

Good luck! I know that you may be limited on time as well, so no pressure if you aren't able to add anything more. But if you're wanting to continue expanding the article, I hope that my recent edits have been able to give you some ideas on where to go with it. :) Jpcase (talk) 15:53, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

@Jpcase: Yes, I've noticed what you've been up to, and I really, really appreciate it. Frankly, I thought I was at a dead end too when I quit making major additions to the article. Until your recent contributions, the page hadn't changed all that much since it reached GA-status in early 2013. Back then, I read every article pertaining to the series on every site I could find, partially thanks to my university's student access to several online databases. I learned quite a few things myself during this time! I first nominated Dexter's Laboratory for GA over 10 years ago, back when I knew diddly squat about writing strong prose, what constitutes original research, or where to find sources, let alone how to format them. The nom failed, unsurprisingly, but to me, it was a challenge. Thank you for taking your time to help expand and strengthen this article so much!
December is not a great month for me to spend a significant amount of time on this article, what with Christmas gifts, car insurance renewal, health care decisions, upcoming taxes, and other bills leaving me virtually penniless along with an approaching holiday vacation still in the mix, but I will, as I've always done, find ways to improve this article whenever I can.
And thanks for the wikibeer! I needed that buzz. :) Paper Luigi TC 08:41, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

What’s the problem?

Hi Paper Luigi, I notice you left a comment on my talk page saying I made an unconstructive edit. I was hoping you could explain what you found to be unconstructive about it, since as far as I’m aware everything I added was factual. Cheers — Preceding unsigned comment added by Funthole (talkcontribs) 03:11, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

Adding factual statements can be unconstructive if you begin including graphic details about childbirth in an article about The Rugrats Movie. I appreciate that you have a sense of humor, but you're well on your way to being suspended if you keep it up. Please familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines (I've left a message with links to them on your talk page.). Paper Luigi TC 21:11, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

Advisor

Have you ever got this figured out? I'm having the same issue, and I love that thing when it works.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); July 9, 2021; 14:53 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for asking. No, I never did figure out why Advisor wasn't showing up. Years ago on WP, it showed up every time without fail, but nowadays it only appears when I least expect it. It's surprising that no one has replied to my inquiry from two years ago. I wonder if anyone else would know. — Paper Luigi TC 14:30, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

Why I also removed the YT link.

There’s an ongoing good article nomination for the page and the reviewer deemed the link non-reliable. It’s not my rules, I’m just following that because he said we should remove it and I want to get the page listed as a good article. SlySabre (talk) 13:42, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

To be more specific, it’s because the reference wasn’t a direct source. It would’ve been fine had the video been uploaded directly by Fox News, however, since it was an unofficial re-upload, it needed to be removed for the Good Article nomination review because it wasn’t a direct source. Hey Paper Luigi; it has been a minute! I hope things are goin' well for you. Given your interest in animation, I was wondering if you'd be interested in chatting with me about your information experiences on the site? Deletion discussion

I know you contribute a lot to WP:WikiProject Television and so you would be familiar with specific approaches the project takes. I recently nominated two season articles of The Chosen (TV series) for deletion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Chosen (season 1) and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Chosen (season 2). In both cases, they are essentially verbatim copies of the main article content and they don't meet the project's critieria for splitting (IMO). We don't count episode summaries per WP:NOTPLOT, leaving the article with about 500 words of redundant prose. Per my arguments in the deletion discussion, we don't create season articles for every show simply because the show itself is notable. Notability for the season itself is necessary. Am I off on this? I'd appreciate your input. ButlerBlog (talk) 14:11, 29 November 2022 (UTC)

Talk pages

Hi there, generally there is no need to remove old talk page sections on articles, especially if having those previous discussions around is context so that a recent issue isn't brought up again. Better than archiving, in that case, is to set up automatic archiving so that the talk page maintains itself, but even this is best done as a contributor to the article rather than on a "drive-by" basis. And of course if the talk page is unfrequented, there is especially no case to add {{talk header}} to the talk page as there is no frequent discussion to warrant the links for newcomers (though it's unproven at all whether newcomers even read it). czar 05:49, 18 January 2023 (UTC)
