I've noticed that you and several other people have been trying to marshall opposition to this nomination for adminship based largely on what is percived to be too many POV edits, most of them pro-palestinian. I'm going to be avoiding this debate entirely for two reasons - the first is simply that I'm too new to wikipedia and still learning the rules and social protocols, and I don't think I know enough yet to make an informed vote. Crazy changes by Gilgamesh

Unfortunately, User:Gilgamesh is now imposing his own views by changing the transliterated Hebrew names of articles with redirects to unreadable Hebrew names and fonts, as if his criteria are the only ones to reckon with, when there are in fact several. My computer, as I am sure many others' as well, does not pick up his type of fonts, and thus he is messing up articles such as Safed, Hadera, Holon, Afula, Arad, Israel and many others defacing them and making them unreadable on the web. He is going to DESTROY the normal usage of Wikipedia's Hebrew transliterations to satisfy his own needs without there being any consensus. Common usages are being thrown out in favor of obscure and pedantic academic usages familiar to only a handful of unkown academics. He should be called upon to stop BEFORE he rushes to do further damage without any consensus being reached. All his changes should therefore be reverted. Anus language

Deletion Debate

Bachrach44,

Been a while since I visited Wikipedia. And when I got back, the article "Ethionx Studios" is deleted. One of the reasons were "That, combined with the huge number of duplicates on google (309 hits but only 8 displayed) suggests that this is advertising."

The above reason is VERY untrue. If you tell Google to repeat the search with the omitted results included, you can see that the rest of the results are BLOG entries, and I see no reason why should that be rendered as a valid reason for deletion of my page and considered as "ADVERTISING" my website.

Next, the reason, "Its notability is not established though. It is a bit confusing to me what the hell it is." Before the site was rebuilt again, the site features latest news article ranging from the computing field to game reviews.

"Their official website should have been included in the article. It says on the website, though, that it was written by Raven Ryan, the same guy who first contributed to the article." My website IS in the article, unless someone edited it out. And yes, I wrote it.

"Non-notable." Please do enlighten me who starts out big.

If you still do think that you want to leave the article as deleted, it's alright with me. But the very first thing you should do before you delete my article is to inform me. Whatever the policy or disclaimer of Wikipedia stands at, this is still manners.

Just as a heads up, when making a redirect page, don't have a space between the character # and the word REDIRECT. For example:

Human-based units of measure

Yeah, I thought it would be interesting to list all units of measure based on the charcteristics of humans ex. 1 foot is supposed to be the length of an average human foot, the decibel is tied to human hearing, etc Your help is appreciated.

Rejection of Tanakh

Thanks for the reply. I have put most of the suggestions into the article. I actually wasn't that familiar myself with these schemes, and they seem quite rare compared to other kinds of internet schemes. Since most of the information is first hand observations (it is not the kind of thing that Brittanica would list), I didn't know if there was a name for these auctions. Late in my research for the article, I came across another article that deals with the auctions under another name, Unique bid auction. I think the proper wikipedia thing would be to merge them, but I don't know how merges work. What would you do? --PB1 01:24, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

To me this 'please' seems very unprofessional and lacks any weight behind his argument. I still think that it shouldn't be a big deal if we have the article up or not, there is so much other bull shit on wiki that goes with being the modern hitchhiker's guide to the earth. I found some intresting problems on your talk page that I had never thought of before- the pro palestine or judaic slants of some articles is something that we'll see how it works out. though, sadly, probably not. It is remarkable that people who have managed to stay out of controversy don't get their name into Google. Hamburger is a world expert in synagogue textiles yet Google is woefully silent. Using the spelling you prefer on Google actually yields your working page[7]! It seems volume IV of SMA is out[8]. We'll need to base ourselves on book reviews in English-language publications to get a picture of Rav Hamburger. I am the writer of Thou shalt not give Hitler posthumous victories. I wrote it yesterday and a new page patroller seemed to have thought my first save could not grow beyond a stub. I respect your articulate opinion.

Given the nature of the subject - at the nexus of several highly sensitive issues - I have done my best to treat the subject with the balance, discretion, and sensitivity that it deserves. A first attempt can hardly be perfect and circumstances exposed this work to scrutiny before it was ready.

Would you be willing to offer constructive criticism? I understand the potential to give offense and I assure you it was unintentional. In defense of the article I would like to say that it conveys positive messages outside the Jewish community: it offers a powerful reason to Christians against attempts at converting Jews, it conveys the importance of supporting Israel, it serves as a rebuke against anti-Semitism, and it raises awareness of the Holocaust. These are worthy reasons to keep the article if your serious concerns can be addressed - and I am optimistic that they can.

You flagged our entry on Me Og. No, this is not nonsense. We are new to Wikipedia, but we have evidence from cave paintings as early alphabets about inventions, mathematics, and early writing that is substantial. Give us a chance to write our article, complete with citations before you wipe it out. Thank you. Look, for example, at history of mathematics, for evidence of bone calendars and calculators base thirty, established by women who recorded their cycles. We have taught our students about Og (Me Og) and Ugga, and it is important information.

subst

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

link fixing

I'm not sure if someone else has sent this your way or not, but a few of us have been using AWB for bad link repair. The most common problem we see is that people frequently put double brackets around an external link. We've been using the following regexp for find/replace. If you wanted to include it in the general cleanup part of the AWB, I'm sure people would find it useful.

 find: \[\[http:\/\/(.*)\]\]
 replace: [http://$1]

This feature was added last weekend - versions 1.6.3 and up now include bad link repair, including fixing uneven bracketing, replacing pipes with spaces in external links, etc. All you have to do is check the "general fixes" box on the AWB. halakha or Halakha

My main intention with the changes I made was to change halacha to halakha not to capticlize Halakha. I don't have such strong opinions on the matter but I think Halakha is a proper noun and hence it should be capitalized. Two House Movement

I note that you marked that article as "disputed", but didn't put anything on the talk page. I've put notes on the talk page indicating that the article needs some context. I gather that this is some sort of theological dispute, but I have no idea what it's about. It has 327 hits in Google, but the titles are things like "MJAA Inroads of The Hebrew Roots Fringe".
