Hello PixelStudiosSocial. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:PixelStudiosSocial. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=PixelStudiosSocial|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Theroadislong (talk) 08:57, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits could give Wikipedia contributors the impression that you may consider legal or other "off-wiki" action against them, or against Wikipedia itself. Please note that making such threats on Wikipedia is strictly prohibited under Wikipedia's policies on legal threats and civility. Users who make such threats may be blocked. If you have a dispute with the content of any page on Wikipedia, please follow the proper channels for dispute resolution. Please be sure to comment on content, not contributors, and where possible make specific suggestions for changes supported by reliable independent sources and focusing especially on verifiable errors of fact. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 13:17, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

That was not my intention. When someone randomly started throwing "Wikipedia policy against personal threats" against me as a means to silence my point of view and squash my complaints, I believe I have a right to assert the same against the aggressor in defence.
In addition, to better enhance the understanding of the aggressor, I believe I was being helpful to him to inform him that what he has done was not a mere violation of Wikipedia policies, but also a violation of law. This is not a threat. It is a statement of fact with the intend to help someone who has stepped out of line to understand his wrongdoing.
Reviewers are not gods, even though they might act like it sometimes. But it should be a matter of policy to make sure contributors are not slaves to them and must subject ourselves to their every whim and abuse. The facts are simple:
1. He rejected the page without evidence, based on a "gut feeling".
2. When the situation was clarified for him, instead of withdrawing his rejection as he was required to do so, he changed his reasoning like as if rejections were a buffet, free to choose from.
3. When that rejection was rebutted, he flat out proclaimed to the world that I was fraudulent.
4. When he was pushed to clarify on his position on fraud, he ignored the question completely and claimed that what he said was truth simply because he has been here since 2006.
5. When his claim was challenged, he threatened me with "Wikipedia policy against personal threats."
What which point was his position acceptable? Please help me understand. Allow me to spell out my position:
1. He is a volunteer. Nothing more. He was not vetted. He is not employed by Wikipedia. He has not been approved as any form of authority on any subject matter. In short, he is not an authority on anything relevant to Wikipedia at all.
2. I am not affiliated with the Telugu Talons. I am not being paid by them. I am not being paid by the League, nor Indian government. I created a page for the team because (1) Wikipedia wanted a page on them by showing them in red on the league's page; and (2) I knew a few players on the team growing up, that's why I chose this team instead of the other 5. I made sure I cited newspaper articles and put nothing promotional on the page for the players.
3. I have complied with everything Wikipedia required; yet, he has complied with none. He is the aggressor, not me. He does not have a right to reject my article out of bias, but I have an absolute right to defend myself against his aggression.
Thank you. PixelStudiosSocial (talk) 14:17, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I declined your draft I did not reject it, your user name was the same as a digital marketing company https://www.pixel-studios.com so it seemed logical to suggest that you might be being paid, once you indicated that you were not, I removed the template, please calm down and stop the personal attacks. Theroadislong (talk) 14:28, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Wow... ok, I am sorry. I did not realize there's a company with that name. I already put in a name change request. I do a lot of design work myself. I always thought that, if I ever were to have a company, I would name it Pixel Studios. I think I finally understand why I came across that way and why you responded as such.
Overall, I think this is just a massive misunderstanding. I was confused why such a simple page would get rejected repeatedly. At the same time, it is understandable that you thought I was affiliated with that marketing company, given my username.
I am sorry. It was never my intention to attack you. I only felt attacked. I hope, with this, we can clear the air and any grievances that may have unfortunately built up.
I will keep on working on improving the page to make sure it conforms to Wikipedia standards.
Thank you and I am sorry for the disturbance. PixelStudiosSocial (talk) 14:39, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Oh my God... they are in India, too... This is seriously a face palm moment for me :( PixelStudiosSocial (talk) 14:40, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Regarding "I believe I was being helpful to him to inform him that what he has done was not a mere violation of Wikipedia policies, but also a violation of law." That is considered a legal threat, as you are using the potential of legal action to affect a dispute here.
"He is a volunteer. Nothing more. He was not vetted." We're all volunteers and not vetted. There are no Wikipedia employees or authority figures. Admins like me are not an authority. There are Wikimedia Foundation employees, but it is rare for them to be involved in matters like this. Their accounts are clearly marked with (WMF).
Can you now understand why someone might have thought you were a paid editor? 331dot (talk) 15:02, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yup, I see it now. I was very confused why I was being attacked like this, without realizing that my username was sending a very wrong message, and there's a company with the exact name. My thought process was that the page had an issue, I fixed the issue, and this was the natural progression. So, why was my willingness to bring the article up to par be subsequently viewed as my being a paid editor? That's where everything went downhill. Anyway, now that Theroadislong and I have cleared up where the root of the conflict lied, and I have changed my username, hopefully things will go back to normal, and this article being reviewed for its informational purposes only. Thank you for your understanding through this mess! HyderabadiFreeBaller (talk) 17:11, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
You appear to have a fundamental miss-understanding about how Wikipedia works still, articles are NOT created for "informational purposes" articles are created if the topic meets certain notability guidelines this requires the topic to have been reported on in-depth, with significant coverage in reliable independent sources, articles are based on what these sources say. Theroadislong (talk) 17:19, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I think a professional handball team would be a notable matter, don't you? This is not some neighborhood team. The games will be broadcasted nationwide during prime time, starting in several days.
To put it differently, if this team is not considered as notable, then:
1. Why would the league it belongs to considered notable? The league was created a week before this team, and this page has nearly as much content as the league's page.
2. What about pages not on just university level sports teams, but each season having their own pages, with next to no information? A nationally broadcasted team is surely much more notable than a single season of a university team, wouldn't you say?
I think I am misunderstanding something here.
I have also messaged the team to see if they can help out here. But we are at crossroads here:
1. If the team steps in to edit the page, the page will get rejected because they are affiliated to themselves; but
2. If the team doesn't, then the page will stay rejected, because the news articles I have cited aren't enough as is.
This is a rather bizarre situation to be in, unless the objective here is to not permit a page on a new professional sports team until after the first season. But then we circle back to how come the league is permitted to have a page, and university teams pages for upcoming seasons.
Please let me know what I can do to help this process along. I will do my part to get whatever evidence needed for this. I just ask everyone involved to be reasonable and consistent here.
Thank you. HyderabadiFreeBaller (talk) 17:31, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
The mere fact of being a "professional handball team" does not necessarily make them notable in Wikipedia terms. You could asl for advice here Wikipedia:WikiProject Handball maybe? Theroadislong (talk) 18:17, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the response. I think I have this situation solved. The team's PR team just responded to me on Insta and sent me all the publications they have been covered in. It is a massive table of 87 articles with links, each being from a national or international news agency. Seems like my Google-fu was simply weak.
After all, I'm just some guy who only cared because two guys from my little town will be on TV. I'm still learning. I will go through those links and update the article. Hopefully this will be sufficient. HyderabadiFreeBaller (talk) 18:32, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

You've claimed "I am not affiliated with the Telugu Talons." This is obviously untrue. You yourself personally own the copyright to their logo, File:Telugu Talons Logo.svg. This gives you a clear and direct conflict of interest and we expect you to refrain from editing about The Telugu Talons any further. You also must declare your conflict of interest on your user page, as per WP:COI. I expect you to do this before editing further. --Yamla (talk) 16:47, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

I don't own the copyright to their logo. They published it on their social for public use, so I downloaded it and put it here. You can check their Insta for yourself. They even had a logo reveal, which also linked to this image I uploaded. When I uploaded the image, I selected the option that I either owned the copyright to the image or have permission from the owner to use this image in this way. I think them publicly releasing this logo qualifies as them giving everyone the permission to use it and redistribute it without editing it. HyderabadiFreeBaller (talk) 17:04, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
In that case, you lied when you claimed you personally owned the copyright. By doing so, you have placed the entire project in jeopardy. I expect you to make zero further edits until you have successfully deleted the image from wikimedia commons. This is urgent and you must start that process immediately. In the future, we expect you to refrain from lying about copyright and from any further violations of WP:COPYRIGHT. --Yamla (talk) 17:05, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
On the image thread, I have mentioned that I passed on the concern to the team, so they can clarify that the public has a right to use the image. As soon as I receive that, I will pass this on as evidence. If they say to the contrary or not respond, I will remove the image.
Furthermore, I have asked what additional information I can request or provide to facilitate this process. I am in good faith trying to resolve this issue. I have no skin in this, either way. I just wanted to donate my time and fill out a red reference on the league's page that happens to be a team I care about.
However, I do find your two positions offensive and disturbing. Instead of inquiring about the nature of the situation like the reviewer on the image, you came out swinging. In that case, I will entertain your direct personal attacks and issue you a warning:
"In the future, we expect you to refrain from lying about copyright and from any further violations of WP:COPYRIGHT"
This was a strong statement that is completely uncalled for, especially after I have explain the situation. You are accusing me of intentional lying, even in the face of evidence of complete lack of intent here. I expect you to refrain from falsely accusing me any further. HyderabadiFreeBaller (talk) 17:18, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Such a strong statement is absolutely necessary and I endorse it. Copyright is a matter we must take seriously.
Lying does not require nefarious intent. Perhaps you assumed incorrectly, but what you said was not correct.
If the team licenses its logo for use on Wikipedia, that means it can be used for any purpose, including commercial, with attribution. This means that anyone could print shirts with the team logo and sell them as long as they say they got it from Wikipedia, and the team would not be entitled to any money from it. I highly doubt the team will want to permit that. 331dot (talk) 17:36, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
You are right. I see it now. Thank you once again for the professional and objective response. I will remove the image immediately.
How can I upload the logo in this case? Which option should I select? HyderabadiFreeBaller (talk) 17:39, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Logos generally cannot be uploaded to Commons, as the copyright does not permit it. It would need to be uploaded to this Wikipedia locally and used under fair use, which does carry certain restrictions, the most relevant being that fair use images cannot be in drafts. 331dot (talk) 17:44, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I see. I have requested speedy deletion of the image. I guess I will wait until the article, hopefully, become approved, before attempting to put their logo on there again. Is that the correct way? HyderabadiFreeBaller (talk) 17:46, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that's what you should do. More generally, images of any kind are not relevant to the draft approval process, which only considers the text and sources. 331dot (talk) 17:49, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I understand now. Thank you once again. HyderabadiFreeBaller (talk) 17:51, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, club, organization, company, or website, I have blocked this account from editing. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change of your current account here. The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.

  • If you prefer to change the username on this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken or in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".
