About Rams-Chargers Rivalry

edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Rams-Chargers Rivalry a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Rams–Chargers rivalry. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. twotwofourtysix(My talk page and contributions) 08:24, 27 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Conduct Warning

edit

Hi PontiacAurora. Please consider this a warning on your conduct at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chargers–Rams rivalry, specifically this comment. Not only are you failing to be civil, but your comment could be viewed as an implicit threat of doxxing an editor. If any of this behavior continues, I will block you.

You are new here and I understand the frustration that comes with having an article you worked on getting tagged for deletion. But please take a second to realize that nothing is personal and that we are all following the deletion policy and notability policy in determining if an article is appropriate for inclusion in Wikipedia. Personal views or preferences do not supersede the policies and guidelines that have been developed over the last 20 years by thousands of editors. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:49, 14 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Taran Killam

edit

Hi. A belated welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for working to improve the site with your edit to Taran Killam, as we really appreciate your participation. However, the edit had to be reverted for the following reasons:

First, you removed mention of the jersey, but without providing a rationale for this in an edit summary. When removing material, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page.
Second, you added the term "puffery" to the passage, which violates MOS:PUFFERY.
Lastly, your rewrite of the sentence left it incoherent, without a valid subject-predicate structure. Instead, you left it with two separate predicates, that are not connected in a grammatically correct manner.

If you ever have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 17:55, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Los Angeles Angels into Major League Baseball rivalries. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 19:51, 7 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

July 2023

edit

Please stop your disruptive editing. Wikipedia aims to provide a safe environment for its collaborators, and harassing other users, as you did on Wikipedia talk:Administrator intervention against vandalism, potentially compromises that safe environment. If you continue to harass other editors, you may be blocked from editing. This is your only warning about this; I saw you self-reverted (and it's on ANI now), but attacking other editors for removing material that violates WP:BLP (as was properly done on JoJo Siwa by MikeAllen) will not be tolerated. Nate (chatter) 02:28, 12 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

I'm going to contest this, in what way did I harass MikeAllen? arguably it's the other way around PontiacAurora (talk) 02:30, 12 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Some advice because I will likely not see any next dispute of yours. (1) This was a content dispute. MikeAllen was not vandalising. Reasonable people may differ on whether they see things as gossip. This should be settled at article talk pages, or noticeboards like WP:RSN, WP:BLPN, WP:NPOVN, and not WP:AIV. (2) MikeAllen can freely remove any warnings on his talk page. You should not have reverted his removals. (3) Demanding someone rescind a warning is likely fruitless and may even backfire. (4) Read Doxxing and learn what it is. starship.paint (exalt) 03:41, 12 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Your user page

edit

The "Gender" and "Pronouns" sections in the infobox can be interpreted as being WP:POLEMIC; I think that just to be safe it would be a good idea to change it. Plus, the infobox in your userpage shows that you are an account creator, file mover, page mover, pending changes reviewer, template editor, administrator, CheckUser and Oversighter, but you do not have these rights. You also have the userboxes for rollbacker and page mover, but you do not have either one of these permissions. Also, it says you are #245 on the List of Wikipedians by edits but you are not on the most active editors list. — Prodraxis {talkcontributions} (she/her) 04:52, 12 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

As Prodraxis said, your rant about gender and pronouns violates WP:POLEMIC (Polemical statements unrelated to Wikipedia, or statements attacking or vilifying groups of editors, persons, or other entities), so I have gone ahead and removed those lines. Feel free to replace with something appropriate for that context such as "male" and "he/him". Happy editing. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 05:30, 12 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you're trying to get it to display something custom like "A dude", then that goes under the |custom_gender= parameter. The |gender= parameter is just male/female/other, and decides what icon gets put next to "Wikipedian". -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 05:39, 12 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
thank you! idk, my intent was more so just to poke fun at such a hotly divisive subject going on. I have no hatred or ill will against anybody in the LGBT community, we're all one group of people. PontiacAurora (talk) 06:30, 12 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
No worries, I get it. Humor through text can be hard, especially on sensitive subjects. I find that, when people do go for that kind of humor, it's most effective when it's absurdist rather than straight satire... But also often just best avoided on a site like Wikipedia. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 09:02, 12 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
I understand where you are coming from. But as Tamzin said above it is best to avoid it on Wikipedia because it is simply harder to get your message across text. However, your userpage still states "yes" for File Mover and Page mover and that you are an "occasional" Template Editor even if you have none of these user rights and it also shows the userboxes for rollbacker and Page mover even if you do not have these rights. — Prodraxis {talkcontributions} (she/her) 14:03, 12 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Content dispute on Deftones (album)

edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Deftones (album). This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.

Finally, it looks like several of your edit recent edit summaries are less than civil and not constructive. Please communicate with civility and focus on content rather than trying to provoke other users. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 22:49, 13 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Adam Gontier and the Houston Texans

edit

I checked the three sources you provided at Houston Texans to say Adam Gontier is a fan of the team but two don't mention his name at all and the other doesn't mention the team. Where did you get this claim? Zeke, the Mad Horrorist (Speak quickly) (Follow my trail) 07:13, 30 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi PontiacAurora. Thank you for your work on Battle of Alberta (NHL). Another editor, North8000, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thanks for your work. IMO, from the sources supplied, this is an editor-synthesized topic. Not to say that everything in it isn't reaal world events. The only reference I could find that referred to the "The Battle of Alberta" was a link to Twitter/X. I did npt take any action with this article. Possibly more sources that refer to and cover the topic AS SUCH can be found and added. Or leaving it for a different NPP'er to decide. Either way, thanks for your work.
