Curling at the 2014 Winter Olympics

Hi! I was thinking of creating a separate qualification page for the Curling at the 2014 Winter Olympics page. It potentially would give us space to write out the whole qualification tournament and show some of the WC results. What do you think? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 02:40, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

Hey! I had envisioned for the qualification tournament to be documented on a separate page, much like the World Wheelchair Curling Championship qualification event pages (e.g. 2013 World Wheelchair Curling Championship – Qualification Event). I'm not sure that there's really enough information for a separate qualification page apart from that... Ah, I see. I'm not sure that that format will work for this event, since it's just the one qualification event and the world championships (which we probably wouldn't need to do anything with), but if there's anything that comes up, we can definitely address that. If I recall, Latvia didn't participate in the 2012 worlds, so they technically didn't receive any points in 2012, but if you'd like to put that on, I wouldn't object. It'd just be a bit strange. Hi there, I am very new to Wikipedia but I created a page on a Wheelchair Curler World Champion - Angie Malone. She also competed at the 2012 World Wheelchair Curling Championships - a page you created however your link from her name (Angela Malone) goes to the wrong page. Spruce Grove Cash spiel 2012

Hi,

You DID NOT make a mistake in what you had BEFORE.

However, the World Curling Tour website recently updated their rosters correctly - as some smaller spiels don't have all the names until the spiel is over due to entries being entered over the phone and only taking the entrant's name. ie. Aaron Bartling is the third of team Rogers.

I simply updated the rosters and made appropriate changes to the standings and so forth. I also changed the hex color to make it easier to see for the teams that made playoffs.

Hello! I realized that the updated teams were on the WCT site after I had removed those edits, so I reinstated the edits you made to the team rosters, standings, etc. The colors for the teams that made the playoffs don't need to be changed, though. Turkish national teams

Hi, I have noticed an editor has created articles on the Turkish national women's and men's curling teams. We have held off on creating articles on national teams, because of the nature of curling. Hey! Yeah, I saw that earlier, and I didn't know what to think of it. To be honest, I'd really like to see "Curling in Canada," "Curling in Scotland," "Curling in the United States," etc. before "Curling in Turkey," since they're more notable and can be filled with more information, but I would definitely agree with creating a "Curling in Turkey" article. Mixed doubles

2001 Nokia Brier

Hi. Regarding my removal of links on the 2001 Nokia Brier page (and several other Brier-related pages that I've edited, as well): I simply don't understand the need for dozens of links to pages that do not presently exist. I'm a big fan of links when they actually lead somewhere, but when pages have numerous dead end links, I find it ruins the aesthetics of the page, and more importantly, can be confusing to someone who is a Wikipedia/internet novice. I don't pretend to know (or care) about the standard Wikipedia guidelines for creating links for non-pages -- I just went with what seems logical to me.

Rest assured, I have no intention to start a link edit war -- I just wanted to explain my stance since your edit contained the description "unexplained removal of links".

Hello. Thanks for posting your comments. I really appreciate that. While I do sympathize with your reasoning, I had to insist on replacing the links. We (some of the curling editors from WP:CURLING, that is) are trying to get more of these (notable) biographical articles created, and the red links are actually pretty helpful with cross-referencing everything. Fedex matches

Hi, I'm an Wikipedian from the the Czech Wiki, and I'm preparing reconstruction of Fedex articles. You are interested in tennis and you created e.g. 2013 RF season. So I'd like ask you one question. Do you know, why is there missing some number of matches in the table? I think successsion 1, 2, 3 ... 7, or 42, 43 ... 68? Hello! I wasn't involved in editing Federer's season articles until the 2011 season, so I'm not sure why the numbering was done that way. I believe there's an inconsistency in the match numbering, since the match numbers at the end of the 2010 article do not match with the ones at the beginning of the 2011 article. I'm quite sure that the numbers in the 2011 article and onward are correct, but the ones in the articles before 2011 are incorrect. Thank you, yes, I know that numbering since 2011 season is different. In my view Junior Career table is a little bit "nonsense", there are e.g. involved 3 matches of Touluse Tourn (130–132, TE = probably "tennis exhibition"). Tennis at the 2013 Summer Universiade – Mixed Doubles

What was "unnecessary" about this? I corrected the date format, tense, capitalisation and line breakage, as well as the spelling of some names and introduced a better sortkey for Category:Tennis at the 2013 Summer Universiade (X for Mixed Doubles). You unnecessarily reverted my edit, then went on to re-introduce the correct tense and the spelling of Kateřina Vaňková. What about the rest? Hello. I reverted your edit mainly due to the capitalization issue. I neglected to notice the correction of diacritics and the sortkey addition. I have edited the article to include those changes, and I apologize for that. I must point out, however, that the capitalization of the rounds in the seeds section is the format used across WP:TENNIS articles. Also, I felt that the date format was fine as is. As for spacing, I feel that it's a subjective matter, since the spacing changes don't affect the look of the article once it's been published. However, I will point out that adding a line break after the draw key template introduces extra, unnecessary spacing after the article is published.
