Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. edit Hello, I'm Sumanuil. Thank you for your recent contributions to Armillaria novae-zelandiae. I noticed that you added an image to the article's infobox as a thumbnail. In future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox, as this is against the Manual of Style. When adding an image, supply only the filename to the |image=
parameter and the caption to the |caption=
parameter instead. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using; please consult the Template page for the infobox being used on that page for proper instructions and documentation. Thanks! - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 07:20, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Sumanuil. So in wikimedia commons upload wizard when I uploaded the file it says "To use the file in a wiki, copy this text into a page:" and then gives (enclosed in doble square bracket) "File:Armillaria novae-zelandiae 2024GSR.jpg|thumb|Armillaria novae-zelandiae fruiting on a tree stump, Wellington New Zealand". So I shouldn't use this I should only use "Armillaria novae-zelandiae 2024GSR.jpg". Is this correct? I find the documentation quite confusing. The syntax I have used is
- {{Speciesbox | image = Armillaria novae-zelandiae 2024GSR.jpg | image_caption = Armillaria novae-zelandiae fruiting on a tree stump
- Not sure where the thumb comes in to it?
- Thanks for your help Rffoeg (talk) 00:28, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
- That syntax is what Sumanuil changed it to, not how you had left it. If you want to include an image somewhere outside of an infobox, you do need the double square brackets, "File:", etc. suggested by the Commons Upload Wizard. If you want to include an image within an infobox, all you need is
|image=
and the file name (and|image_caption=
if you want to include a caption). Plantdrew (talk) 21:35, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
