Unspecified source for Image:Misunderstood-dream.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Misunderstood-dream.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:49, 29 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 10:49, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Howard Beckman
editI have nominated Howard Beckman, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Howard Beckman. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Hello, Rickbrown9. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Ed Fitzgerald t / c 21:29, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Richard Shaw Brown, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. Ed Fitzgerald t / c 21:34, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- Dear Sir,
Thanks for the help. I read what you told me:
Non-controversial edits
Editors who may have a conflict of interest are allowed to make certain kinds of non-controversial edits, such as:
1. Removing spam and reverting vandalism. 2. Deleting content that violates Wikipedia's biography of living persons policy. 3. Fixing spelling and grammar errors. 4. Reverting or removing their own COI edits. Cleaning up your own mess is allowed and encouraged. 5. Making edits that have been agreed to on the talk page. 6. Adding citations, especially when another editor has requested them. 7. Adding pointers to primary sources in archives, special collections or libraries in the Research resources section of an article. Also, adding External links to digitized or digital primary sources or finding aids. Editors working for such organizations are requested to review WP:EL (useful links to on-line, non-promotional material related to the article), WP:NPOV, WP:NOSHARE and WP:ORGNAME. The last two mean don't create a shared organizational account and don't include the name of the organization in the account name. It is recommended but not required for such editors to declare their affiliation on their user page.
---And it is all quotes by 3rd party publications. Not a word by me. According to above I meet the standard. If there is any 3rd party published quote you object to please let me know. As is it has been pretty straight forward and simple. There is no published bad side because there is none. Please let me know what is objectionable? Otherwise I can't vandalize the page of published quotes just because their favorable. That's why I'm considered notable. Thanks in advance.--Rickbrown9 (talk) 14:03, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:ImNotTalking.ogg
editA tag has been placed on File:ImNotTalking.ogg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. --Rrburke(talk) 01:43, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
Hi, Rick. Sorry not to have gotten back you you sooner. Looks good.
I don't know if you have ever looked at WP:COMMONNAME, but it occurs to me that the article should probably be named Rick Brown (musician).
Have you ever considered lending your expertise to Wikipedia:WikiProject Gemology and Jewelry? --Rrburke(talk) 14:49, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
thanks, Burke
editI'm glad Richard Shaw Brown is suitable now. I'm sure you Wiki police have a thankless task with millions of non-notables putting up their own self opinions, without ref. or citations. I call Wikipedia the real "Ego busters".
I was musician in 1966 and again in 1984, but since 1986 I'm a jewelry designer in Bangkok, with my own designer brand, Astral Gemstone Talismans, as the most popular jewelry brand in Thailand. So it's more correct to call me a "jewelry designer" or "gemologist" is more accurate than Rick Brown (musician). So it's probably better to leave it alone as it...
I would love to help Wikipedia in any way I can. In the area of Wikipedia:WikiProject Gemology and Jewelry I have already created an article on the subject of my 13 books Navaratna.
Please tell me how to help. I want to be involved, I mean, I am involved. And want to do things right.
NOTE: Because my brand (not company name), Astral Gemstone Talismans, is very extra-ordinarily popular with 6 stores in Bangkok. It has been mentioned hundreds of times in articles, TV, etc. In such a case is it alright to add the name of my notable brand, Astral Gemstone Talismans, along with citation, to the article (without transgressing "advertising" guidelines??) Thanks--Rickbrown9 (talk) 23:17, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
I am wondering
editif you re not overplaying Jim McCarty's influence a bit? I'm mean putting him up there with Moon and Mitchel? Mike Hugg, besides writing one the the songs mentioned, was as innovative (opinion) as McCarty, as was Hugh Grundy of The Zombies and probably a few more. I am a big Yardbirds fan and intend to replace the cover picture on the wikipedia article Five Live Yardbirds with the one that I got in 1966 (original British cover) or so. However I believe that overstatement does no one any good. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 23:18, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hi! I felt the song examples I mentioned proved the point. But if you prefer please remove the mention of Moon and Mitchell, and just let Jim's contributions stand on their own. He recorded a lot of innovative ideas in the 1960s. Cheers!Rickbrown9 (talk) 10:16, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
I am not quite sure how (if at all) to edit this section but I always like to chat with the other editor involved before changing something like this. Your songs are well chosen. I am case I imagine that you have McCarty bookmarked, so will catch any change I make. Carptrash (talk) 16:28, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- I already edited it. As you may have seen by now. I think that I'm A Man had a speed metal beat, I'm Not Talkin' with the back beat, and Still I'm Sad had a sort of Tibetan beat. Jim really broke the envelope in drumming innovation. But he was never the mad show of Moon, Mitchel, or even Viv Prince, who just went bonkers in a fairly singular manner. It could be better. Cheers!Rickbrown9 (talk) 19:57, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Ah yes, Viv Prince. Pulled off an airplane or something. It is a bit difficult for me too say too much about him since I never saw him play live and many of the recordings that he might have played on were done by Bobby Graham. Sorry about the delay here, I was enjoying our discussion. Carptrash (talk) 20:40, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
- I was a personal friend of Viv in 1966-67. This was after he was kicked out of The Pretty Things and was drummer for The Bunch of Fives in London. He was also manager of a small Soho club called Knuckles. I never read any books on his life or the Pretty Things, although there are some. Viv is still around. I guess he is a historical loon and notable enough to be in Wikipedia, but I'm not really interested to make such a page. If you want to do it I'll be glad to help you, but it will require some research. I think the Jim McCarty page looks fine now after your suggestions. Please write any time. Best wishes--Rickbrown9 (talk)
File permission problem with File:KenS2.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:KenS2.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. ☼ 22:24, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

editHi. When you recently edited Kamal Narayan Seetha, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hyderabad (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Speedy deletion nomination of File:Shastri-italy.jpg
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on File:Shastri-italy.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Copyright problems with File:Satya Vrat Shastri.jpg
editHello. Concerning your contribution, File:Satya Vrat Shastri.jpg, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.satyavrat-shastri.net/profile.html. As a copyright violation, File:Satya Vrat Shastri.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. File:Satya Vrat Shastri.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.
If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at File talk:Satya Vrat Shastri.jpg and send an email with the message to permissions-en wikimedia.org. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that it is licensed under the CC-BY-SA license, leave a note at File talk:Satya Vrat Shastri.jpg with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL, and note that you have done so on File talk:Satya Vrat Shastri.jpg.
However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While contributions are appreciated, Wikipedia must require all contributors to understand and comply with its copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. Dianna (talk) 03:26, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
External links
editPlease do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Kamal Narayan Seetha. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. [1] [2] --Ronz (talk) 05:45, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

Your input is requested for consensus
editPlease comment over at Draft talk:Abby Martin. Thanks. Viriditas (talk) 20:37, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
The article Daniel Reid has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Although a prolific author, Daniel Reid is not a notable author. He has not himself been the subject of multiple significant works in reliable sources. Only one references is given in the article. This is insufficient to establish notability. In addition this biography of a living person fails verifiability as it has insuficient reliable sources. A search on google books, and web search provided no further reliable sources other than the authors own novels and self-published website.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Rincewind42 (talk) 14:21, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

- Thank you. The small part that was deleted is non-notable. One newspaper article does not make a person or incident notable - quite the opposite. Under page edit history was left the following valid reason: "Deleted libelous data which is non-notable, nor related to subject's notability." Unless you have a personal agenda to slandar this subject? Wikipedia requires NPOV.--Rickbrown9 (talk) 20:12, 8 May 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disambiguation link notification for January 1
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Richard K. Diran, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jerry Hopkins. The file File:Dan-in-Shigatse-Sept-07.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Orphaned image with no foreseeable encyclopedic use.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
