Augustenborg Palace
Hello Rosiestep. Thanks very much for drawing on the German version to expand this article. I was thinking about doing so myself but couldn't find the time. I was also hoping to get a copy of the reference work (Die Fürsten des Landes - Herzöge und Grafen von Schleswig-Holstein und Lauenburg) from the library but am travelling at the moment. Well done. - Ipigott (talk) 08:32, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia Stories Project
Hi!
My name is Victor and I'm a storyteller with the Wikimedia Foundation. I'm chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who make and use Wikipedia have so much to share.
I asked Sarah Stierch who might be good to talk to, and she gave me your name.
Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project.
Thank you for your time,

Welcoming
Hello Rosie - I'm not sure if you're still on the Welcoming Committee, but when you're not conducting a tea ceremony I wondered if you might like to drop by to say hello to User:Beevsbud. Thanks, —MistyMorn (talk) 10:50, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
Hi MistyMorn. Thanks for thinking of me. However, that user doesn't appear to be a registered account... and with a name like that, I can see why. Any particular reason why you would want me to drop by that particular user's talkpage? --Rosiestep (talk) 02:46, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi. This currently sporadic user made a worthwhile contribution to an article I watch, but appeared not to be overfamiliar with Wikipedia's ways. Sorry for the slight delay... —MistyMorn (talk) 19:23, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for that, and thanks for the kind words. Which I'll certainly bear in mind, especially perhaps when I pluck up courage to tie myself in knots trying to add some photographs for Frederick Keel. Meantime, I've added papà Boulanger to my watchlist. Best, —MistyMorn (talk) 09:54, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

- Thanx Rosie. I'm fine, though mainly offline for a few days. I've been redrafting Ignaz Brüll almost from scratch after spotting a gross copyvio (quite open and obviously gf) while enjoying his piano concertos. I don't know whether Brüll is your cup of tea at all. I'm sure the text is full of howlers right now, if not worse. But I do enjoy working on some less 'popular' topics, far from the madding strife. In this case, though, not being able to consult either of the two available German-language biographies is a bit of a limiter. Do pop round if the Brüll monkey takes you! —MistyMorn (talk) 07:36, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
Hi. If you have a mo can you check this translation from French wiki? The google translate version is pretty bad! Its one of those articles "how on earth was this missing..." ♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:11, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
Excellent I've sourced and nommed. I blue linked Jules Nadi in it. Needs proof reading especially the lower part as the wording of the SFIO list is weird! Shouldn't require much though.. Does need categories though..♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:57, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
If you can find anything more on Ernest Boulanger (composer) or his mummy Marie-Julie Halligner to get it over the DYK threshold, no worries if not..♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:35, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Great, couldn't think of a hook for Nadi though.. There's a day left on it I think..♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:53, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Awesome. Will look at those tomorrow. Currently looking at suburbs of Monrovia..♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:35, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Can you add a few citations for the text you wrote I think its from the PD source you used and also add the books to my list at the bototm of the French wiki article like the ones with Charles Rapport etc. Should be ready for nom then! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:13, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome, Rosiestep
Thanks for the warm welcome Rosiestep, or should I say warm welcome back? I'd joined Wikipedia way back in 2005, and even contributed an article, but I let my account lapse. I think I use Wikipedia even more than I use Google. Frankly, at this point I'd be lost without Wikipedia! I'd like to thank you guys for all the amazing work you're doing; the Teapot is a very good idea too. I'd be glad to help out in any way I can.

For the life of me I can't figure out what purpose Wikipedia is supposed to serve.
There are free online encyclopedias, I mean the real kind where information is vetted BEFORE being offered to the public, who are then asked, as volunteers and non-professionals, to "seek consensus" among other non-professional volunteers, before changes can be made...after the horse has left the barn. In particular I find it unnerving that a Christian sect, I have nothing against Christians, but it happens to BE a Christian sect, has taken over the "Assyrian" page....at least the last half, where they have placed their claims that they, and they alone, are descended from the ancient Assyrians. This is such a preposterous bit of tomfoolery and has no basis in fact whatsoever. I tried to alert the editors that truckloads-full of uncited, unsourced, outrageous claims were being made...I offered an actual history book on the subject, it is admittedly little know and has few qualified researchers, but there is one, a Ph.D in modern Middle Eastern history who has written a book, first published by Princeton University Press and again by Brill, academic publishing house in business for 400 years...this book, by Dr. John Joseph, retired Luis Audenreid professor, Emeritus, is well researched and documented, unlike the material presented on Wikipedia about the existence of modern-day Assyrians. Dr Joseph was born in Iraq, into a family that believed itself descended as well...as was I, both of us born in Iraq and both of us raised on this claim....Dr Joseph studied the matter, getting his doctorate from Princeton University...in addition he has been honored by his college, Franklin and Marshal, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania , where a new International Studies Building was named after him.
When I introduced actual quotes and sources, from Edward Gibbon, Arnold Toynbee and even Herodotus, to name a few, I was told, by the amateur editor of the Talk section, that Dr. Joseph was "amateurish" and had "made mistakes"...in most cases on Wikipedia, you can find at least the same topic discussed in the Britannica, or any well-known encyclopedia or history book, but on Wikipedia is the ONLY place on earth you will find it stated as fact that direct, lineal, descendants of the ancient Assyrians are walking the earth today.
That page has been hijacked by partisans who have a political agenda; to force Iraq to hand over to them a northern section of the country, rich in oil, because they are the "indigenous Assyrian people", whose lands were "usurped" by the Arabs. It would be like Wikipedia running an article by members of the "Sons of the Confederacy" in which they claim Abraham Lincoln made money off the Civil War, and that is why he led the nation to war.
But who has time to check...or investigate? Everyone here is a volunteer who presumably has more important things to do, like earn a living...and the page looks so "nice" and "orderly"...why spoil it?
Seeing this on Wikipedia I now look at everything here as suspect...if you can allow this preposterous claim to exist, then what WOULD you reject? Someone at Wikipedia needs to actually read a book, a real one, on this topic. (Fred parhad (talk) 04:12, 6 May 2012 (UTC))

Teahouse Barnstar | |
I, Sarah, hereby award you, Rosie, the Teahouse Barnstar for your valued participation in the Teahouse pilot. It's been so great to see you popping in to lend a hand with questions recently, and of course, your invaluable ability to invite like a maniac hasn't gone unnoticed!! :) I look forward to your continued participation at the Teahouse and thanks for all you do to make Wikipedia the invaluable resource it is! Sarah (talk) 00:37, 12 June 2012 (UTC) |
- Well golly, thank you, Sarah! It is beautiful, and I've never received one like it before! Much appreciated. --Rosiestep (talk) 01:41, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
WikiProject Country Houses
I was wondering if you or you know anybody who'd be interested in such a project. One of my chief loves is British country houses and I don't at present see a project set up to help coordinate it and to collaborate over. If interested let me know and I'll consider making a proposal.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:56, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
Cavalieri Addobbati. Can you find something on this I believe it was a name for Italian knights, also known as Cavalieri di Corredo, especially during the Risorgimento era. Doesn't matter how stubby..♦ Dr. Blofeld 23:02, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
I'll look at that and the museum later. My new article creation I must say though is at an all time low. But there's so much work needing doing to existing articles I don't know where to begin. I honestly think the best thing we can possibly be doing is trying to increase our percentage of GAs, articles which have had some sort of review. Its nice to create new articles occasionally though.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:20, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
Oh I'm happy to work on a few new articles. But I'm finding it hard to be motivated to create new articles when only 20,000 articles out of nearly 4 million have been written and reviewed. Swedish museums sound cool to me.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:45, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I see you nominated the museum already i was gonna work on that today.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:48, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
Karlskrona ropewalk
Thanks for getting me involved in an interesting article. I am however a bit confused by your most recent edits which seem to have interfered with the additions I was making. I'll stop working on this for a while or until you have completed your current series of edits. Always happy to be working with you. Continue the good work. - Ipigott (talk) 16:24, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- Glad to see we have sorted this out. I was going to move the history section up, just as you did. Most of your other changes seem sensible too. The main problem at the moment is that there are now several sections without refs. I'll try to restore them. There also seem to be a few mistranslations in some of the English-language material from Karlskrona so I'll double check the original Swedish. Also surprised to see there is no article on Lindholmen (not even in Swedish). - Ipigott (talk) 16:39, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- OK, I'm done for the time being. Feel free to make further changes. There may still be one or two loose ends. - Ipigott (talk) 18:01, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Sorry I missed this and the museum, most interesting. Perhaps Stumholmen might interest you. Also Ladislav Haškovec. I've been too busy the past few days to be on wikipedia.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:18, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
I welcomed Avilalinn (talk) after removing the new article tag on her new article and tagging the article with issues, and she replied
- My new page [Nadinne I. Cruz] was labeled as having "issues" which I think I have rectified. How do I go about getting the article reviewed and the issues box removed?
I will refer her to the Wikipedia:Teahouse, but I am mentioning her and her article to you, with the request that you follow up on the situation. I have not figured out how she (or I) might request a review at Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation. I am going to read the article again and make changes or remove tags as best I can.
We should not to get too caught up in techie/WP details, when a personal touch is needed, too. --DThomsen8 (talk) 12:37, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Dthomsen8 - Thanks for stopping by. The Teahouse would be a great resource for Avilalinn. I'm getting ready to go on vacation so I'll take a look as soon as I can. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:50, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
