editHello, I'm Loafiewa. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Type 100 submachine gun, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Loafiewa (talk) 20:29, 24 July 2022 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Tsing Dao Submachine Gun
editHello, Salfanto. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Tsing Dao Submachine Gun".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 02:47, 18 January 2023 (UTC)
Introduction to contentious topics
editYou have recently edited a page related to Eastern Europe or the Balkans, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template. Prolog (talk) 20:51, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
General sanctions
editThis is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in Russo-Ukrainian war. Due to past disruption in this topic area, the community has authorised uninvolved administrators to impose contentious topics restrictions—such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks—on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, expected standards of behaviour, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic. For additional information, please see the guidance on these sanctions. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor. |
Please note that only extended-confirmed users are allowed to make edits related to the Russo-Ukrainian War (WP:GS/RUSUKR). Additionally, your source failed verification. Sources need to directly support the content being added. Prolog (talk) 20:51, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

7th Battalion Arei
editHello, 7th Battalion Arei is part of the 253rd Defense Battalion of the 129th Brigade. Its not a separate unit. It was before it joined with the brigade. They use the term battalion, but its strength is unknown. It also makes it strange to have a battalion within a battalion. Most likely they have more freedom, but are administratively attached to 253rd. Your addition to the article should be worded better a little to avoid confusion. Thank you for adding references and improving article. Ceriy (talk) 15:52, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
edit Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from War crimes in the Russian invasion of Ukraine into Georgian Legion (Ukraine). While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 00:04, 13 September 2023 (UTC)

editYou may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced or poorly sourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at M1 carbine. You have been told about the verifiability policy plenty of times now. Continuing to add unsourced claims, conjecture, and OR as you have done at this point can only be viewed as disruption. Loafiewa (talk) 17:45, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- The line "On 26 October 1944, in response to the Germans' widespread use of automatic weapons, especially the Sturmgewehr 44 assault rifle, the select-fire M2 carbine was introduced, along with a new 30-round magazine." is taken from the "Selective-fire version" on the M1 carbine article which someone else had added. I added it to the M2 section to try and help give context. I hope that clears things up Salfanto (talk) 17:53, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

You are welcome to import appropriate Creative Commons licensed content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. El_C 01:21, 21 February 2024 (UTC)- You have already recieved a block for adding unsourced content to articles, yet you are repeatedly continuing to do so, specifically claims about military units partaking in battles without support from the article itself or from an added source last seen here, this is disruptive, especially since you are doing it within a contentious topic, WP:CT/EE. editHello, Salfanto. Thank you for your work on Eagle 7 (tank). Klbrain, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:
The tank battle is already covered in some detail in Battle of Cologne (1945)#Battle, which raises the question of whether a merge there might help to consolidate the material. That might be better for readers, although I agree that the belated award of the Bronze Star to the crew might read awkwardly there.

Hi!
You may not be aware that there’s a global consensus that Daily Kos should generally be avoided as a source, especially for controversial political topics where better sources are available. As an activism blog that publishes user-generated content with a progressive point of view, many editors consider Daily Kos to inappropriately blur news reporting and opinion.
Regardless, please don’t add it to CTOP articles as you did here and especially don’t mark it as minor.

Regarding Battle of Batoche caualties.
editI undid your revision because Middleton's casualty report of 51 deaths plus casalties had been provided to him by the Catholic Mission which Father Vegreville later corrected to 16 deaths plus casualties.
Your quote; "After the Battle of Batoche, Frederick Dobson Middleton, reported 51 deaths and 173 wounded on the Métis side. However, Father Vegreville's report was different, he reported 16 Métis killed and between 20 and 30 wounded. This is what changes the casualty range". 2kayoty (talk) 16:17, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

The article List of Poles killed during the Russian invasion of Ukraine has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
WP:NOTMEMORIAL, that Poles have been killed (and their number) can be mentioned on a general page about the role of Poland in the event, but a list of the individuals that died is no more warranted than lists of people who died in airplane crashes (or e.g. WWII).
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Speedy deletion nomination of Glory to the Republic
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Glory to the Republic requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Anthem of the People's Republic of Donetsk. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. May 2024 - unreliable sources

editHello, @Salfanto! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When adding references, as you did in the Timeline of the Russian invasion of Ukraine (1 April 2024 – present), please remember that adding bare URLs as references is not ideal, and it exposes the reference to link rot. Citation templates, including details such as title, author, date, or any other information necessary for a bibliographic citation, are preferred. You could also check out referencing for beginners for further information or help.
For any bare URL references you've already added, there are tools available to expand them into full citations; try the reFill tool, which can resolve some bare references semi-automatically.
Thanks! – Primium (talk) 00:36, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
Hello, and thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia, and in particular for adding references, as you did to Timeline of the Russian invasion of Ukraine (1 April 2024 – present)! However, adding a bare URL is not ideal, and exposes the reference to link rot. It is preferable to use proper citation templates when citing sources, including details such as title, author, date, and any other information necessary for a bibliographic citation. Here's an example of a full citation using the {{cite web}} template to cite a web page:
Lorem ipsum<ref>{{cite web |title=Download the Scanning Software - Windows and Mac |publisher=Canon Inc |work=Ask a Question |date=2022 |url=https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART174839 |access-date=2022-04-02}}</ref> dolor sit amet.
which displays inline in the running text of the article as:
- Lorem ipsum[1] dolor sit amet.
and displays under References as:
- 1. ^ Download the Scanning Software - Windows and Mac". Ask a Question. Canon Inc. 2022. Retrieved 2022-04-02.
If you've already added one or more bare URLs to an article, there are tools available to expand them into full citations; try the reFill tool, which can resolve some bare references semi-automatically. Once again, thanks for adding references to articles. – Primium (talk) 16:38, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- So I can copy that code and then put the source in it? Salfanto (talk) 16:39, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, you can. Just be sure replace the title, publisher, and other information according to your source.
- But honestly, the easier option is to just click Cite and then Templates in the editor toolbar, and select an option (probably "cite web"):
- It will show a small window with inputs, including a "URL" field. You can usually enter the URL and click the magnifying glass to automatically get the information. Hope that helps! – Primium (talk) 23:39, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
May 2024 - adding text not supported by sources
editPlease do not add or change content, as you did at Bogdan Khmelnitsky Battalion, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Greetings, please don't add text not supported by sources, as you did in your edit. "pro-Russian Ukrainian citizens" is not in source. Also your sources are not related to the article. - @Salfanto But we are biased quite often - pro evolution and anti-Creationism for instance. Please read WP:NPOV. That is because the weight of reliably published sources is on one side of the scale and the scale often weighs more on one side than another. We don't aim to be neutral in the normal sense of the word.
- I'll try to spend more time on this tomorrow Salfanto and look at your edits to decide if I should be taking any Administrative action. Doug Weller talk 15:07, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

Request for creation of Ukrainian Air Force template
editHi @Salfanto,
I notice that you have worked on quite a few articles about military-related pages, especially the Ukrainian military, and I thank you for your work. Since Ukraine should be getting F-16s soon (fingers crossed), I expect the Ukrainian Air Force to play a greater role in the war in the coming months. I was somewhat surprised to find that Template:Ukrainian Air Force doesn't yet exist, and think that it would be appropriate to be added onto Wikipedia to help readers understand about this topic. Thanks again for your work on Wikipedia, and Slava Ukraini!

Request reason:
My reasons as to why I would like to be unblocked. I have made it into a numbered list: 1. I have learned better sourcing techniques.
2. I have created numerous articles that have been beneficial to wikipedia and wish to continue to do so in the future.
3. I have been requested by another editor to create an english version Template:Ukrainian Air Force and I intend to complete that request.
4. I feel like some parts of the reason for my ban were due to the bias of other editors. An example of this was an edit I made on the page Human wave attack dated 15 May 2024 when I added sources from Politico, Euromaidan Press, Forbes, and TASS, all of which are not on the Wikipedia:Deprecated sources list. I also added an image of French colonial troops using the tactic because I wanted to give a visual to the reader of the article. However another editor removed both my edits and another editor's edits claiming WP:DUE and WP:SYNTH despite Politico and Forbes articles being used as souring in other sections of the article prior to my edit. 5. I want to help people. That is why I became an editor in the first place. I have made mistakes in the past and I am not perfect but like other people I can't learn without making mistakes from time to time.
Decline reason:

- If a reviewing admin considers unblocking, please post a notice to that effect on my talk page as I may not have access to see pings (but please also ping), but can check my talk page at least daily. For the record, I object to any unblock as I find the above appeal wholly insufficient.

It may well be so, but not meaningfully enough to offset anything, so it serves as a poor mitigating factor. - Because the (understated) "mistakes" —which if I didn't suspect a language barrier, come across as deceptive outright—are considerable. Same as with my previous block back in Feb for similar reasons. Serious mistakes which the approach above, I argue, fails to seriously account for.
