What Savannah images are you lacking?

At some point in the next week or so I'm going downtown for another "picture-taking day." While I'm out there, what can I get for you? What downtown items are on your wish list? JeffersonLH (talk) 18:35, 18 September 2021 (UTC)

@JeffersonLH: Off the top of my head, 541–545 East Congress Street on Washington Square. I'll have a virtual wander around the squares (where my architectural interests mainly lie) in the next day or so and let you know of others. I'd like to create a few more articles on Savannah's buildings, but they have to have sufficient notability, as I've found to my cost. Seasider53 (talk) 18:49, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
@Seasider53: I almost took an image of 541-545 last month but didn't; it was either being worked on or blocked by parked cars, I just remember thinking maybe I'd catch it next time. Yeah, as anything more comes to mind these next few days, just let me know (buildings or squares). "I'd like to create a few more articles on Savannah's buildings"... Hehe, well you know where my blog is, if that helps! JeffersonLH (talk) 05:55, 19 September 2021 (UTC)
@JeffersonLH: You've probably already been out snapping today, but these are either i) remnants of articles that were deleted due to lack of obvious notability (the article histories are still retrievable, if more importance can be established), or ii) just buildings that immediately surround the squares. Hopefully I haven't listed any that are already photographed at Buildings in Savannah Historic District; I've been pretty good about updating the squares articles from there, though. Obviously I wouldn't expect all of the below to be documented by you. I'll check the other squares in the next few days. There was another building off of Greene Square that intrigued me, but I'll have to have a look on Google Street View for that.
Columbia Square
  • 422–424 East State Street
Greene Square
  • 548 East State Street
  • 130 Houston Street
  • 506–508 East York Street
  • 507 East York Street
  • 509 East York Street
  • 510 East York Street
  • 511 East York Street
  • 515 East York Street
  • 515 East York Lane
  • 508 East York Lane (the rear of 140 Price Street)
  • 131 Houston Street
  • 509 East President Street
  • 505 East President Street
  • Second African Baptist Church
  • 502–508 East President Street
  • 502–512 East State Street
  • 514 East State Street
  • 516 East State Street
  • 520 East State Street
  • 51 East Broughton Lane
The one off the square:
  • M. Lavin Building, corner of East York Lane and Broad Street (143 East Broad?) (1853)
The only other standouts are that Crawford Square has no photographs (and I need to list the properties in that article) and Chatham, Calhoun and Whitefield Squares are a bit lacking on images too. Seasider53 (talk) 21:10, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

Ways to improve Club Row, Longridge

Hello, Seasider53,

Thank you for creating Club Row, Longridge.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

I don't think this article is quite ready for inclusion in Wikipedia. To establish notability, the building must have in-depth coverage from third-party sources (WP:NBUILD). Your article contains only two references, the first of which (historicengland.ork.uk) merely presents some data and a one paragraph description of the site, not in-depth coverage. I don't have access to the second reference, but even if it contains in-depth coverage, one such reference is not enough to establish notability. I searched newspapers.com for material, but only found brief mentions of this site. I was similarly unsuccessful googling for additional non-trivial material. Nonetheless, as a Grade II listed site, I suspect there is enough material somewhere that could establish notability. I would suggest that either you find some additional secondary sources (newspapers, books, magazines, etc) that cover this site in depth, or you could merge the content here into the Housing section of the existing Wikipedia article about Longridge.

Ways to improve Shinsei (restaurant)

Hello, Seasider53,

Thank you for creating Shinsei (restaurant).

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

I don't think your article on Shinsei restaurant establishes that the restaurant is notable. Reference #2 does not help establish notability, because it is just a page on the restaurant's website. References 3 and 4 are more about the chefs than the restaurant, and certainly don't cover the restaurant itself in much depth. We are then left with references 1 and 5, which are restaurant reviews by the local Dallas press. Almost any non-chain restaurant will eventually be reviewed in the local press, so I don't think those reviews establish notability.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|PopePompus}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Thank you for creating Deangate.

Explanation of my edit to Euro Truck Simulator 2

Hey! I just thought I'd explain my edit on Euro Truck Simulator 2. I had thought that I would be able to find a source to use for the sentence with WP:VG/SE only to discover that I couldn't and I would have to use the official SCS software "blog" (which I wouldn't really say is a blog) in order to find the source which I couldn't access when I made the edit. I was thinking it would be quick for me to find the source but it wasn't. I'll readd it when I get home with the source. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:13, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

@Blaze The Wolf: It would be better to add it with a citation request, rather than have a partial sentence hanging around. Seasider53 (talk) 20:52, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
Ye. The issue was I couldn't remember the date the truck was released in the game so I couldn't add it with it making sense until I got the ref. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:26, 29 October 2021 (UTC)

St Oswald's Vicarage, Warton

Hallo, Thanks for creating St Oswald's Vicarage, Warton, which I noticed because Listed buildings in Warton, Lancaster is on my watchlist (being just down the road).

I've tweaked it a bit:

  • If you specify "region:GB" in the coords, a reader gets offered UK mapping such as OS, which is helpful. I don't know what effect it has to add "type:landmark", but as it's available it seems probably a Good Thing to add (yes, "landmark" includes all buildings except schools, colleges etc, airports, and railway stations - see Template:Coord#type:T).
  • Using the {{NHLE}} template future-proofs the reference: if they change the database (as the Charity Commission does from time to time), we have the two key components of number and description and a chance to update the template to map them onto the new version, while if all links are freestanding there's more of a problem.
  • If you create an article with a disambiguated title, please remember to check that the reader can access it from the undisambiguated version. I've just created a dab page for St Oswald's Vicarage, as there's another such notable vicarage in Chester. If there hadn't been, I'd have made a redirect. There should have been a redirect for the Chester one, in which case I'd have created a dab page overwriting that redirect.

But I will now look out for the Vicarage with interest next time we drive past it - a local temporary road closure means we are driving through Warton Main Street more often than usual for a few weeks - so thanks for creating the article. PamD 11:31, 21 November 2021 (UTC)

@PamD: Noted, thank you. I grew up not far from the t'Fylde (and, thus, greater) Warton, and didn't even know there was one up near Lancaster (hence my linking the wrong one initially)! Seasider53 (talk) 12:09, 21 November 2021 (UTC)

An article you recently created, Shinsei (restaurant), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia).   Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Crail into Crail Parish Church. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. Hi Seasider53, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Old Town Hall, Poulton-le-Fylde

Hi - I wondered why you had selected this one? It is one I looked at several years ago and was unable find significant coverage as required by WP:GNG and therefore decided not to start work on it. It is not a listed building, it is not by a noted architect and it seems to be of limited heritage importance. Do you have any offline resources that would help? Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 03:30, 28 January 2022 (UTC)

Yeah, was surprised it wasn't of some historic status. I read some interesting information about its history when I was in there, but it hasn't appeared online. I'll do some deeper digging tomorrow. Seasider53 (talk) 03:36, 28 January 2022 (UTC)

Guildhall, Perth

Sorry, to be a pain, but from my research I don't think the building known as the guildhall in Perth ever served as the town hall. My understanding is that it was simply a hall established by one of the local guilds for merchants to trade. The Municipal Buildings were the municipal headquarters of Perth from 1696 until 1984 when 2 High Street became the municipal headquarters. There are are hundreds of guildhalls around the UK where the guilds met but these were not town halls. Happy to discuss. Dormskirk (talk) 15:54, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. DYK for Valerie Boles

On 24 February 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Valerie Boles, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that American root doctor Valerie Boles was the inspiration for the character Minerva in the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and its film adaptation? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Valerie Boles. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Valerie Boles), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I think this article could be expanded to include the entire conservation area. Djflem (talk) 18:48, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
@Djflem:Fair. Hadn't thought of that. Seasider53 (talk) 18:50, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
Material is interesting, could be a subsection. 18:57, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
@Djflem: I thought so; just growing weary from the UK's seeming lack of online material outside of Canmore and HES/HE, other than wading knee-deep into Google Books. Unless I'm missing a mine of information elsewhere? Seasider53 (talk) 19:02, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Civility

I refer you to Wikipedia:Civility. By & large we expect editors to be mature enough not to leave edit summaries like this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kinnoull_Terrace&type=revision&diff=1073652687&oldid=1073651682 . I don't know what your problem is, but please rein yourself in. --Tagishsimon (talk) 16:19, 24 February 2022 (UTC)

Perth churches

Thanks again for adding more listed buildings in Perth. I have moved two of the articles you created to make sure they reflected the names of the churches: [1] and [2]. We would normally say 'Episcopal Church' rather than Episcopalian, and the latter one is a Catholic church. Do watch out for these things when creating multiple articles, I appreciate it gets tricky with so many similar names! Thanks, What Are The Civilian Applications? Maine History

Hi Seasider, I noticed your interest in Maine history so I thought you might be interested in using this site for more information on every legislator in state history. If you contact the law library, they can provide short bios on elected legislators as well. Cheers! --User:Namiba 15:04, 2 March 2022 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of John Halkerston

The article John Halkerston has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

One source merely says "known as Halkerston's Tower, probably after the architect John Halkerston, who worked here in the 1460s" and the other two don't even mention him. Notability not shown with substantive sources.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution (4th request)

It appears that you copied or moved text from Battles of Lexington and Concord to Bloody Angle (battle). You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Previous requests: [3][4][5]. The autopatrolled privilege means that your new articles should not need others to clean up after you, including fixing your unattributed copying. DanCherek (talk) 02:24, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
