123 East Charlton Street (Marist School site)

So 123 East Charlton Street was the site of the Marist School, but there is nothing remotely historical about that building. I see it every day; the building is 1972. The plaque honors the legacy of the site, but there's nothing still standing there.JeffersonLH (talk) 23:51, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

@JeffersonLH: Yes, there have been a few in there from my gullible days. Seasider53 (talk) 12:47, 26 March 2022 (UTC)

Louisa Porter, 23 East Charlton

Gotta ask how strongly do you feel about this particular entry...? I do think some leeway with widely-recognizable demolished properties is cool, but this one was torn down in the 1930s; today's 23 East Charlton is not this structure, and even I had to dust off my copy of Luciana's Lost Savannah to remind myself what it was or looked like. :) JeffersonLH (talk) 03:32, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

@JeffersonLH: Would probably make sense to add a separate table below the current one for those structures no longer with us that were sufficiently notable. I'm reading (and as you'll know) that lot was formerly home to "a free school, a health center, and an orphanage", according to the current building's SCAD page. If there's a photo around, that would be nice as well. Seasider53 (talk) 10:15, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
My fear is that adding such a table could prove an overwhelming task, and would legit stretch into the hundreds (yup... genuinely wouldn't know where to start or stop; we lost a LOT), and with so many construction/demolition dates unclear, it's a challenge. Plus, finding available imagery for most of these would be more daunting than me walking around with my phone. (While on the subject, I do think your addition of the Wetter House was a good one, by the way.) JeffersonLH (talk) 10:35, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
@JeffersonLH: Fair enough. If it was on a more manageable scale, such as the Jobbers Canyon Historic District in Omaha, I could have rattled it off in a day. Seasider53 (talk) 10:48, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Thomas Jackson Charlton (physician, born 1863)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Thomas Jackson Charlton (physician, born 1863) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://ghs.galileo.usg.edu/ghs/view?docId=ead/MS%200132-ead.xml and Very close paraphrasing. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Fram (talk) 08:33, 27 April 2022 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Thomas Jackson Charlton (physician, born 1805)

The article Thomas Jackson Charlton (physician, born 1805) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability, one sentence in the description of papers, and a passing mention in a bio of his father.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello Seasider53,

You undid my change to the Sydney page. I did justify my deletion on the relevant talk page: it's the last contribution. Please have a read. The issue in that deletion isn't the Indigenous name issue per se, but that the cited source flatly contradicts the information. I do go on to have my say on the issue under discussion though. Ballpark or Stadium

Hi Seasider,

I'm not the first one to notice that there was a discrepancy in baseball stadium articles. I looked in the history of those few pages where you reverted my changes, and after some digging, found that this discussion went on just last January, opened by editor Nemov. It appears that there was consensus to call MLB venues "Stadiums", as that term is narrower than the more generic "ballpark", which can encompass everything from sandlots to little league fields, etc. Hope this helps. I'm going to change the first lines of those articles back. Fred Zepelin (talk) 12:39, 16 July 2022 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Bessie Locke.png

Thank you for uploading File:Bessie Locke.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

UK history

I see the new articles you are contributing when I add my own to the 10,000 Wikipedia Challenge. Your productivity is amazing! I really enjoy reading and writing about the history and historic sites in the UK. I would love to see many of the sites I write about. The last time I was in the UK was in 2016, pre-Covid. Hopefully, next year I will be exploring old churchyards and abbey ruins. MauraWen (talk) 13:49, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

February 2023

Your recent editing history at John Smeaton shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. @Martin of Sheffield:, might you remove the blurb at the top of the article, since I'm out of reverts. Seasider53 (talk) 16:37, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
No. I'm not getting drawn into this spat. As an Englishman (the "of Sheffield" ought to be a hint) I would probably disagree with you, but unless there is an RFC I will not be involved. We all have to live together on this small island and outbreaks of English/Scottish/Welsh name calling don't help. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 18:00, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
It was a talk template that the IP editor had somehow added to the article with their last edit, but never mind. Seasider53 (talk) 18:20, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

Glenfinnan Monument

Hi - I've raised a query about the Glenfinnan Monument here. Do you happen to have a source for the dedication to the Loudon's Highlanders? It seems rather counter-intuitive, as they appear to have fought against rather than for the Jacobites. Be grateful for any clarification. KJP1 (talk) 10:09, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

Why are you removing AFC Crewe on Gary Taylor-Fletchers wikipage?

He is the new manager of AFC Crewe (look at both his twitter and the socials of AFC Crewe). If you remove other peoples contributions, at least give a reason. 2A00:801:726:EA48:B069:581D:EE71:958B (talk) 17:02, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
