Welcome

edit

Hello, Shustfan, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

If you are interested in Ukraine-related themes, you may want to check out the Ukraine Portal, particularly the Portal:Ukraine/New article announcements and Portal:Ukraine/Ukraine-related Wikipedia notice board. The New article announcements board is probably the most important and the most attended one. Please don't forget to announce there the new articles you create. Adding both boards to your watchlist is probably a good idea.

Finally, in case you are interested, similar boards exist at Russia portal as many editors contribute to topics related to both countries. The respective boards there are: Portal:Russia/New article announcements and Portal:Russia/Russia-related Wikipedia notice board. Of course there are also many other portals at Wikipedia or you may just get right into editing.

Again, welcome!--Riurik(discuss) 22:47, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

HOW DO YOW KNOW THAT ALCIDES IS ON LOAN FOR 6 MONTH? IS IT A REAL NEWS? PLEASE TELL ME AND WRIGHT IT NEAR OF MY QUESTION

Notability of Julian Fortuna

edit

A tag has been placed on Julian Fortuna requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Vianello (talk) 22:49, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Side note

edit

My apologies for doubting your intent! The circumstances seemed fishy, but I'm willing to believe what you say. Notable or not remains to be judged by others, I s'pose (well, unless it already has been), but I apologize for being so quick to leap to condemnation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vianello (talkcontribs) 04:30, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Albanian players in Ukrainian league

edit

All three of those players played for the Albanian national team so it's quite obvious they should be included under "Albania". If you look at the way players are listed in List of foreign Serie A players, List of foreign La Liga players, etc. thay're included under the country whose national team they represented regradless of their place of birth. I think the Ukrainian list should follow the same convention. Zvonko (talk) 01:49, 16 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Football images

edit

Did you take these yourself? If so, could you just explain to me why the images are so small and how you managed to get the players to pose? It's just that when I see images like this, people have often taken them from elsewhere. J Milburn (talk) 21:31, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Transfers 2008

edit

Hi. I have been removing these sections wherever I find them as they are not suitable for an encyclopaedia article on a club. In order to avoid recentism if 2008's transfers are included, then all of a club's transfer activity through history would have to be included, which is clearly silly. If you wish to include this information somewhere then it should be in a separate article on a club's season - see Arsenal F.C. season 2008-09 for a relevant example. Dancarney (talk) 22:00, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

A useful thing about the way that Wikipedia functions means that info is almost never "lost". If you want to use the info I deleted somewhere else then you can just retrieve it from an older edit. The information is not appropriate for the club article, so shouldn't be there when you arrive at the page. I'm not a fan of these season by season articles anyway, but there's nothing to stop you from creating List of Ukranian football transfers summer 2008. Dancarney (talk) 08:40, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for making the List page, and doing so quickly! Much appreciated! I think it solves a major issue on the Ukrainian football club pages. Thanks again.Stochil (talk) 23:48, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Transfers

edit

Now that the page is in place it will be a lot easier to update. I will keep an eye on transfers and update the page accordingly. I am starting to develop individual team season pages, so that each club can have its own respective season page(s), something like this: A.S. Roma 2007-08; obviously not as extensive as this, but something that allows to deal with changes in club information, and maintaining the history of the clubs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stochil (talkcontribs) 01:24, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Help request for Ukrainian Reserve round

edit

I guess you wondered about all the red links after having created the table. Well, the fb templates do not link directly to the article of a respective team but rather to another template which holds all necessary information. Those templates can be found here.

All that needs to be done would be to create a template for each member of the league. I would propose to first check Category:Fb team templates Ukraine if any of those link to the respective reserve teams. If not, create them by copying the base template from another Ukrainian template and then fill in the correct information. I would further suggest to link the reserve clubs to the articles of their main clubs since they are basically subdivisions from those teams.

As I see, you are already working on this. If you have problems occuring during the work, just ask. :-) Hockey-holic (talk) 20:33, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Flags in infoboxes

edit

Hello Shustfan. I know you have been doing excellent work editing a ton of Ukrainian football articles, for which I am very grateful to you! I do have some questions and reservations regarding your recent edits to Serhiy Shyschenko; mainly the addition of country flags to the infobox area. The addition of flags has been discussed on the Football project pages countless times. Most recently here. I also refer you to: WP:FLAGS#Use of flags for sportspeople and this: WP:FLAGS#Help_the_reader_rather_than_decorate. The agreed upon format is to have NO flags at all in the infoboxes; even-though there are many articles floating out there that have them, but if you look at any of the A-Class, or B-Class football player articles none of them have flags. The main issue for me is that they often break the alignment of a rows of information on many browsers. So before you get notes form other users or even reverts, I thought I would bring it to your attention. Thanks for all your hard work!Stochil (talk) 14:43, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, sorry for late reply. Holidays ;) I think we should remove players only after they disappeared on club's official site roster or if another club declared signing of that player. Because it matters little in ukrainian footbal if a player was "put on transfer list" or not, they may leave or stay regardless of that :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chudinho (talkcontribs) 15:32, 13 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:Vikingur Logo.JPG)

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Vikingur Logo.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 21:15, 15 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Invite to the African Destubathon

edit

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:12, 6 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
