I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Hans von Boetticher, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. --Cyrus Andiron 13:26, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Athi Short-toed Lark
Hi, Smallweed. Can you tell me why you added this bird to Calandrella? CINFO, Gill and Wright, and Sibley and Monroe consider it a good species, but HBW or at least the IBC, IUCN, Clements, African Bird Club, and Zimmerman Turner and Pearson don't. If there's a good reason to overrule HBW and treat it as a separate species, maybe something recent, I'm happy to write a short article to get it off the list of red-linked species. —JerryFriedman 04:59, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
Little context in Anastasio Alfaro
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Anastasio Alfaro, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Lathyrus nissolia - Speedy Deletion
A tag has been placed on Lathyrus nissolia, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. SkE (talk) 20:04, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Beavan again
There is some problem - a http://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Reginald_C._Beavan Ornithilogist (1841-1870) and we have Captain Robert Cecil Beavan (1841-1870).... Shyamal (talk) 14:09, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

- AMNH response
Thanks for your inquiry to the American Museum of Natural History Library.
According to the information we have, Robert Cecil Beavan, Lieutenant in the Bengal Staff Corps, died on Feb. 3,1870, at the age of 29 (cf. The ibis, 1870, p. 301-302). His specialty was birds, not fishes. (Also see the reference to him in The Bird Collectors by Barbara and Richard Mearns.)
As you have already discovered, his brother is Reginald Beavan -- "I have lately received a fine pair of this large bustard from my brother, Lieut. Reginald Beavan, of the 22nd Punjab Native Infantry..." Quote from Robert Cecil Beavan's article "Notes on various Indian birds" published in The ibis, 1868, on p. 387.
Lieut. Reginald Beavan, of the Revenue Survey Department of India, wrote several papers on Indian fishes. Some of those articles were published in the Proc. of the Zool. Society of London, 1872 & 1873. So, there is good reason to believe that the R. Beavan who wrote Handbook of the freshwater fishes of India is Reginald the ichthyologist, not Robert the ornithologist.
Shyamal (talk) 03:34, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- On further querying on the subsequent papers, the AMNH researchers supply the following
Thanks for your inquiry.
Here is a paper he published:
Descriptions of two imperfectly known Species of Cyprinoid Fishes from the Punjab, India. By Lieut. Reginald Beavan, F.R.G.S., Revenue Survey Department of India. PSZL, pages 150-153, 1872.
And here is a communication read at a November 1873 meeting:
A communication was read from Capt. R. Beavan, Bengal Staff Corps, C.M.Z.S., containing a list of fishes met with in the river Nerbudda, Minar district of India. PZSL, p.685, 1873 (In the index volume for the PZSL, this entry is listed under the full name of Reginald Beavan.)
We hope this helps.
- So now it appears that in at least one case the brother appears to have indeed published on fishes. I think this adds additional complications - in the meantime zoonomen.net has made the correction of the Centropus andamanensis citation to Robert Cecil. B. You are now a Reviewer
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:54, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

The article Merriam (taxonomy) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Possible hoax article? Could not find any evidence to support this definition
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Kerowyn Leave a note 02:15, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

Together with User:Quadell, I am investigating various taxa that User:Polbot claimed were monotypic, based on faulty logic (see User:Quadell/scrap2). I notice that you have also added such claims to a number of articles (e.g. White-bearded Flycatcher), and was wondering if you could confirm that the taxa you considered are indeed monotypic. Speedy deletion nomination of Edward William Nelson
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Edward William Nelson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://mapmakersopera.com/Content/resources/history/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
