Speedy deletion nomination of Terry Anderson and The Olympic-Ass Kickin Team

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Terry Anderson and The Olympic-Ass Kickin Team requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Proposed deletion of Jack Cornell (musician)

edit

The article Jack Cornell (musician) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

None of the sources mention the subject. Fails WP:GNG, much of the information isn't verifiable.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Dmitry, I see you've recreated the article on Jack, but it really appears that he fails the notability guidelines for musicians. There don't exist sources showing significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, and the current sources don't even mention the subject and don't verify the information in the article.

Hello, thank you for reviewing the draft and providing your feedback. Just to clarify, was the reason for removal the fact that I used a published paper on the subject (which I referred to)? My initial plan was to use 43 similar sources. Please let me know if I should reconsider. Little is known about this debilitating condition and, in my opinion, it is important to have this article on. Thank you again! Sousenkothen (talk) 21:14, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
The problem is that some of the prose you added was copied unaltered from your source. You can't do that; it's a violation of our copyright policy to do so. — Diannaa (talk) 22:34, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your review and feedback. Could you please specify which portions of the text were identified as copyright violations? This information would be helpful for me in revising the article. The article currently cites over 70 sources, with a fair number of scientific papers that focus on a rather specific area, and repeating certain terms and clauses, such as "disc-at-risk," might seem unavoidable in some cases.
Thanks again! Sousenkothen (talk) 11:50, 30 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, @Sousenkothen. While repeating certain nouns or Set phrases might be unavoidable, that's not what happened here. Let's take a look at an example together. For your convenience, I've bolded the words that appear in both sets of text.
Article text Source text (from this publication)
Aspirin as an acute treatment does not appear to influence visual outcomes. Low-dose aspirin therapy may be prescribed as secondary prevention based on the patient’s underlying vasculopathic risk factors. It is unclear if aspirin is beneficial in preventing the occurrence of NAION in the fellow eye. (Beck RW et al. Am J Ophthalmology 1997) As shown in previous studies, aspirin as an acute treatment does not appear to influence visual outcomes. Low-dose aspirin therapy may be prescribed as secondary prevention based on the patient’s underlying vasculopathic risk factors. It is unclear if aspirin is beneficial in preventing occurrence of NAION in the fellow eye.(Beck RW et al. Am J Ophthalmology 1977)
Blood pressure should be managed carefully, as systemic hypotension may be involved in the pathogenesis of NAION. Blood pressure should be managed carefully, as systemic hypotension may be involved in the pathogenesis of NAION.
And those are just two examples. So far, I've removed several paragraphs that did the exact same thing.
I don't think anybody could look at this and claim, in good faith, that you just accidentally repeated a few phrases. You didn't even cite the publication you copied from. Instead, you cited their sources. And I know you know not to do this- you were told here, on this very page, just a few weeks ago. If you didn't understand that, then maybe you should ask for somebody to simplify the policy for you at the the teahouse (Wikipedia's help forum for new editors), or the help desk for more experienced editors.
