Hello, @Spiderone I Have disclosed my employer on my user page and added it on the talk page of District FM and Sandra Idubor can the speed deletion tags be removed while I work to improve those article in the future? Thank you for all your help.Innocentuzoma (talk) 14:34, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

Innocentuzoma - the discussion will last for a week, which is more than enough time to find sources. I am still not convinced that either of them are notable so have no intention of withdrawing the deletion request. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 14:45, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

Query

Hi mate, do you know if it's allowed for an AfD nominator to close his own discussion, as has happened with a couple of cricket articles recently. I posted about one on the nominators talk page but have just seen that he's done a few more. I think the outcomes are alright, but it just seems a bit of a conflict of interests. Regards. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 20:56, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Rugbyfan22 - it's generally inappropriate as it goes against WP:NACD; Do not close discussions in which you have offered an opinion, or for a page in which you have a vested interest (i.e. a page that you have edited heavily). Exception: closing your own withdrawn nomination as a speedy keep, when all other viewpoints were for keep as well. So I think it was correct to query it. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 21:02, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
His rationale for closing them was that there were alternatives to deletion, but on the couple I've looked at it was sort of 50/50 for delete/redirect. I've questioned again and will see what he replies, but when you post hundreds of cricket related discussions on players with a few games but debatable coverage, and then close them yourself it seems like a massive conflict of interests. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 21:10, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
Rugbyfan22 - I agree it shouldn't be done. I wouldn't even close my own AfD if there were 12 delete votes and nothing else. If I have a COI, I can't get involved in that. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 22:07, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
I decided to take it to the Administrators notice board after seeing him did a few more, with some with time to go on their discussions and it looks to have been sorted. Thanks for your advice though. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 09:44, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

Dumbarton F.C. Seasons 1999-2000 and 2006-07

I have removed the deletion notices from the above mentioned pages. You indicate that the notice to delete is due to not being notable. However if being one of the founding members of the Scottish Football Association, competing in the inaugural Scottish Cup and winning the first two Scottish Leagues is not notable enough to contniue with Dumbarton F.C.'s history then I doubt if any page on football clubs will pass that muster.(Talk to Spider)]] 17:06, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Aitkegs Hi, have you got anything to show that the seasons required pass WP:GNG on their own merits? The fact that they are founding members of the Scottish FA has no merit to individual season notability. Would you be able to prove that such coverage exists? Seasons at semi-pro level are not inherently notable. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 18:10, 26 February 2021 (UTC) Season 1999-2000 was the final season to be played at Dumbarton's home ground Boghead - noteable for the fact that at the time it was the longest serving home ground for any football club in the UK - 126 years. No particular issues in 2006-07 but while I understand the 'rules' it does seem a bit like missing out an article on a battle during a war just because noone was killed. History should where possible be complete.(Talk to Spider)]] 09:18, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
Aitkegs I agree that that's a good reason for 1999-00 to deserve an article. I'll have a look another time as there are currently quite a few Scottish seasons up for deletion already. I am aware that Dumbarton have a strong history and were once one of the more dominant Scottish teams but this doesn't automatically make every season notable by default. There were pushes in the last two years or so to only have such articles if WP:GNG is clearly met or if the season is in a top professional league where such coverage is almost guaranteed. WikiCup 2021 March newsletter

Round 1 of the competition has finished; it was a high-scoring round with 21 contestants scoring more than 100 points. Everyone with a positive score moves on to Round 2, with 55 contestants qualifying. You will need to finish among the top thirty-two contestants in Round 2 if you are to qualify for Round 3. Our top scorers in Round 1 were:

  •   Epicgenius led the field with a featured article, nine good articles and an assortment of other submissions, specialising on buildings and locations in New York, for a total of 945 points.
  •   Bloom6132 was close behind with 896 points, largely gained from 71 "In the news" items, mostly recent deaths.
  •   ImaginesTigers, who has been editing Wikipedia for less than a year, was in third place with 711 points, much helped by bringing League of Legends to featured article status, exemplifying how bonus points can boost a contestant's score.
  •   Amakuru came next with 708 points, Kigali being another featured article that scored maximum bonus points.
  •   Ktin, new to the WikiCup, was in fifth place with 523 points, garnered from 15 DYKs and 34 "In the news" items.
  •   The Rambling Man scored 511 points, many from featured article candidate reviews and from football related DYKs.
  •   Gog the Mild, last year's runner-up, came next with 498 points, from a featured article and numerous featured article candidate reviews.
  •   Hog Farm, at 452, scored for a featured article, four good articles and a number of reviews.
  •   Le Panini, another newcomer to the WikiCup, scored 438 for a featured article and three good articles.
  •   Lee Vilenski, last year's champion, scored 332 points, from a featured article and various other sport-related topics.

These contestants, like all the others, now have to start again from scratch. In Round 1, contestants achieved eight featured articles, three featured lists and one featured picture, as well as around two hundred DYKs and twenty-seven ITNs. They completed 97 good article reviews, nearly double the 52 good articles they claimed. Contestants also claimed for 135 featured article and featured list candidate reviews. There is no longer a requirement to mention your WikiCup participation when undertaking these reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is a good article candidate, a featured process, or something else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Macro Recordings deletion review

Hi Spiderone, thanks for joining the discussion at Macro Rec deletion review. I wonder how you see "clear consensus" when between those who actually advance any arguments, there are 3 for delete / redirect and 2 for keep? If you think that's consensus, hmmm, but "clear"? Did you notice that there've been several press features added as sources, and 2 of the delete votes will not be arsed to even look at them, while one claims those sources are based on "interviews" (while there are several which are not...). I'm beginning to get the impression that there is a bias towards the opinions of frequent editors. Just as the fact that some users limit the range of topics they will engage in is treated as suspect. The way such processes go I see no way whatsoever to salvage an article or get a balanced discussion instead of having 2-3 people decide something notable must go. Would you care to reconsider your vote? Thanks!

I disagree with a 'no consensus' close. One of the keep votes was from a blatant WP:SOCK so should be ignored entirely. None of the keep arguments adequately addressed the concerns surrounding WP:NCORP; in particularly WP:CORPDEPTH. The admin closure was based on consensus from the participants and both 'delete' or 'redirect' would have been acceptable. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 21:15, 1 March 2021 (UTC)

Contesting deletion suggestion

Hello Spiderone, whilst I appreciate your obvious dedication to removing irrelevant or spam articles on Wikipedia, I must register my huge disappointment in the fact that you have flagged my article Kelvedon Hatch F.C. for deletion. I have put a lot of work into completing this article, fully referenced it and find it to be relevant as it is a well known football club within Essex. Upon the accusation of copyright by a user editing the page (I got information from the official club site) I did not argue and instead have typed out a completely new history section, making sure to not use any sentences so as to not be accused of copyright claims again. Not once have I ever been flagged for copyright, let alone flagged for deletion, and I am hugely disappointed and upset that I have been so by you. Can you please explain to me why you have done this, and perhaps remove the claim as I am a fellow Wikipedian just like you and have just spent a considerable amount of my day writing up that article for everyone that is interested to enjoy. I look forward to your response Luke780 (talk) 22:09, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Luke780 Hi there, the reason that I have put it up for deletion discussion (this is a community discussion and I have no final say in whether the article actually gets deleted or not) is because I do not believe that it meets WP:FOOTYN or WP:GNG. The former requires the club to have played in a national cup (e.g. FA Cup or FA Vase) or step 6 (level 10) or above, which is not the case with this club. The latter, GNG, requires the club to have been the subject of significant coverage from reliable sources independent of the subject. As per my comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kelvedon Hatch F.C., I don't believe that this is the case with this club. Please note that the club's own website, Essex FA and EOFL are all not independent and do not count towards notability. It would also exclude any social media coverage for the club. If you can prove that this club has gained significant attention from reliable, independent sources, please share them in the deletion discussion. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 22:16, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Season articles

Do you think 1958–59 Liverpool F.C. season passes GNG? The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 22:36, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

The Rambling Man - in its current form, it's not established. I'd be willing to bet that, given how well Liverpool's history is covered in general, there would be enough offline sources with which the article could be brought to an acceptable level. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 08:41, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
But only routine NOTNEWS coverage. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 08:52, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
I would see no harm in a redirect to History of Liverpool F.C. (1892–1959) but I'm sure that there are some that would disagree because of WP:NSEASONS Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 09:00, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
Indeed, thanks for that, exactly what I hoped you'd say. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 09:17, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Susanne Koelbl

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Susanne Koelbl, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. CUPIDICAE💕 19:05, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

Asking for opinion

Hi, you are an experienced AfDler - I took a controversy article to AfD and I have overseen that it is a recreation of a previously merged article (with a more than clear consensus, Talk:Mya_Thwe_Thwe_Khaing, CSD G4 case IMHO). What is your opinion, Delete or Keep? Articles for deletion/Mya Thwe Thwe Khine CommanderWaterford (talk) 10:02, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi CommanderWaterford, G4 wouldn't apply here as the original article was merged and not deleted, so your AfD is treated as its first deletion discussion. In terms of whether it should be deleted or kept, I'm not very knowledgeable on notability on topics of this type but I would say that there's way too much content and reliable sourcing to just outright delete. The two valid options are keep and merge, in my view. The article has grown quite large so merge may also be no longer appropriate if the target is already a very large article. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 10:26, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
Spiderone, thanks for your explanation - so we discuss one week wether to merge a subject or not, we merge it in a very unpleasant kind of procedure and afterwards we discuss once again if an article of the exactly same topic needs to be deleted or not ?! CommanderWaterford (talk) 10:30, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
CommanderWaterford I'd be interested to see if the users that participated in the previous merge discussion would still support a merge this month. It is strange that the consensus has so significantly changed in such a short space of time. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 10:36, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
Spiderone, well IMO those kind of articles are all WP:ACTIVIST however bad these fates are but indeed that's an interesting question. CommanderWaterford (talk) 10:40, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
CommanderWaterford you may want to consider notifying the participants in the previous discussion of this new discussion. As long as you do it in a way that doesn't breach WP:CANVAS, of course. In my view, it would be best to notify people that were against the merge as well as those that supported it to ensure balance. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 12:12, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for opening the AFD

Really man! Thanks! The disruption was getting real messy. Celestina007 (talk) 23:22, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

Celestina007 - no problem. Just got sick of the socking, really. Hopefully, if speedy fails, it will still get a WP:SNOW early close. I'm surprised Drunknmunky is still trading, to be honest. I haven't seen anyone wearing their clothes since about 2009... Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 23:27, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
As you pointed out in your rationale, I’m 100% certain the socking has an underlying COI/UPE attached to it, but a part of me believed for a second there that they intentionally socked repeatedly so I’d snap on them real hard. Very correct, I haven’t seen anyone wear that brand since like forever. Celestina007 (talk) 23:39, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

Shiyas Kareem

Hi, I am new to Wikipedia. The reason for deletion of the article Shiyas Kareem is still unclear to me. He is a notable person in Kerala. And he had notable roles in some of the movies. How you verify the person had notable role in those movies? Pls help I am trying to improve my article quality and also trying to avoid deletion in future. -- Riyas Tp (talk) 09:38, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

I would recommend following the clear guidance at WP:NACTOR and WP:GNG as a first port of call. I would also recommend creating the page as Draft:Shiyas Kareem instead and following WP:AfC so that experienced editors in this field can offer their opinions on how to make sure the article meets our criteria. I hope this helps. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 10:55, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for Renate-Ly

i send you the thanks from Renate-Ly for her profile. If you want to make also for Karina Pelikanova, please, we will be very happy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hugok47 (talkcontribs) 13:27, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Hugok47 - hi, you're welcome. I don't think Pelikánová is notable enough for an article yet. She has only played at under-17 level so does not meet WP:NFOOTBALL. A search for sources doesn't come back with enough coverage for WP:GNG at this moment in time. If you can find a reliable source for a senior debut for Slovakia, I will happily create an article but I think it's probably too soon for her. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 14:20, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

For Pelikan, we have offers from huge clubs in England, Germany, France and Spain. As she is not 18, nobody wanted to take the risk to bring her. We made 1st transfer in Heereveen, Netherlands last summer. Soon she will be more notable. Also we will bring Alla Herasymchuk, ukrainian goalkeeper, this summer in France. She has been champion in Ukraine of football in 2015 in ukrainian women league, won the cup of ukraine last year and this year she plays in FC HAYASA the champion of Armenia. She will be probably champion of Armenia - if you are interested. thanks for all — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hugok47 (talkcontribs) 11:15, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

Relisting of AfD's

Hi mate, is there a general consensus for the amount of time between relisting an AfD (that had previously had the consensus of keep) for a second nomination? Can't find it anywhere in the guidelines so wondering if there's an unwritten rule or opinion on it. Thanks mate. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 11:27, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

Rugbyfan22 - hey mate, I think it depends largely on circumstances. For example, sending an article to AfD when there was unanimous consensus to keep a month ago would be frowned upon but a no consensus close from 6 months ago (due to minimal participation) would be unlikely to cause issue. Which article did you have in mind? Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 11:52, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
It was a keep vote 11 days ago, I voted procedural keep because of that and just wanted to check that was an ok view to have. Thanks. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 12:27, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
