Adding references can be easy
edit Hello! Here's how to add references from reliable sources for the content you add to Wikipedia. This helps maintain the Wikipedia policy of verifiability.
Adding well formatted references is actually quite easy:
- While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "Cite". Click on it.
- Then click on "Templates".
- Choose the most appropriate template and fill in as many details as you can. This will add a well formatted reference that is helpful in case the web URL (or "website link") becomes inactive in the future.
- Click on Preview when you're done filling out the 'Cite (web/news/book/journal)' to make sure that the reference is correct.
- Click on Insert to insert the reference into your editing window content.
- Click on Show preview to Preview all your editing changes.
- Before clicking on Save page, check that a References header ==References== is near the end of the article.
- And check that {{Reflist}} is directly underneath that header.
- 7. Click on Save page. ...and you've just added a complete reference to a Wikipedia article.
You can read more about this on Help:Edit toolbar or see this video File:RefTools.ogv.
Hope this helps, --Shearonink (talk) 00:53, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

I am in the process of reviewing your AfC draft about The Brown's Hotel and the references need a bit of cleaning up, adding publisher, author, date the source was written etc. If you're around, I'm working on the references starting on the lowest numbered ones first...you can take a look at how I am adjusting the information. If you want to lend a hand, feel free...it's taking me quite a while to sort through all of them. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 00:58, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

edit When adding links to material on external sites, as you did to Kick Bama Kick, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe the linked site is not violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:
- If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page;
- If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page with a link to where we can find that note;
- If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page;
If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. HangingCurveSwing for the fence 23:50, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

editThank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Fred J. Page High School, as "minor" only if they are minor edits. Proposed deletion of List of lowest-seeded teams to win a championship in North American professional sports
editThe article List of lowest-seeded teams to win a championship in North American professional sports has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Doesn't seem like a good topic for a standalone list. At best, it should be broken up by individual professional league and shouldn't be grouped together. None of the sources actually provide coverage of the topic as a whole (i.e lowest-seeded teams to win a championship in North American professional sports).
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 20:01, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
