Nope, not yet. That's on my list of things to add next — see User:Flcelloguy/Tool, where I've added my future developments. Sources for Pileni language

Hello, good work on Pileni language, and thanks for the contribution. However, you did not provide any references or sources in the article. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a push to encourage editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. From what websites, books, or other places did you learn the information that you added to Pileni language? Would it be possible for you to mention them in the article? Hi Tomer - you seem to be confused about what is happening at SFD. No-one is talking about getting rid of the template and category, simply renaming them to be in line with the stub naming conventions. All that means is that {{JewHist-stub}} and Category:Jewish history-related stubs would become {{Jewish-hist-stub}} and Category:Jewish history stubs. It would be a bit silly having this category as "xxx-related stubs" when all the others are "xxx stubs" (which they will be within a week), or having "JewHist-stub" when all other history stub subcategory templates are of the form xxx-hist-stub. If you want your colors, I won't fight you on them. :p You actually editted at the same time as me. I finished editting and it told me I had edit conflicts. I actually don't care too much one way or the other. The original colors hurt, but yours are fine. I chose the colors I used just so it was more consistent with the general color scheme, but I'm not especially concerned about the colors, so long as they aren't painful. Rejection of Tanakh

Hey, I'm cool with waiting a few days, but I have a feeling that few people care. As far as I've seen here in the US, little people know what or where the "Rio de la Plata" is, but in the few pages I've seen it mentioned (ie: FIFA.com) it is in its spanish version. OTOH, it is gramatically wrong, as you say, but "Sierra del Plata" is the common name for the place. I have no clue as to why, but in Argentina that form is used several times (like in the city of Mar del Plata). I strikes me as an archaic form of expressing it, somewhat like the legend of Eldorado which should be "El Dorado".

Proposals for Australian states

I know articles should ideally be sourced, but it gets kind of annoying when you continually accuse proposals for new Australian states of being original research. I don't think I've ever edited the article, and I certainly didn't write it, but none of those were new to me. I understand that you're unlikely to have heard of them yourself in Wisconsin, but all of the incidences on that page should be no surprised to educated Australians (one reason, I suspect, why no one has bothered to reference it until now). New Australian States

Hi Tomer - not quite sure why you thought I'd know anything about this article, but I've had a look at it. The only think I note about it is the weird idea that anyone would suggest New Zealand should become part of Australia. Oh, one thing I forgot to add - as the comment a couple of paragraphs up also says, this isn't original research, even if the external links aren't brilliant. Another web project I'm involved with (Flags of the World) also had some information recently about it. Fijian and Rotuman

Thanks for correcting that error that Rotuman is related to Polynesian languages more distantly than Fijian. I think I intended to write "distinctly", made a typo of it, which my spelling corrector must have miscorrected to "distantly." Thanks for keeping a watchful eye on it! The situation is somewhat analogous to the relationship between English and its fellow-Germanic languages on the one hand, and Romance languages on the other. English is not a Romance language, but extensive borrowings from French and Latin have left their mark on English vocabulary, to the extent that English/American students of Romance languages find 40-50 percent of the vocabulary recognizable. From what I've heard, Fiji underwent numerous invasions from Tonga. The conquest by Enele Ma'afu of much of eastern Fiji in the 18th Century was just the latest of many such invasions. Tongan (i.e. Polynesian) vocabulary, and to some extent grammatical patterns, have left their mark on the Fijian language as a whole, and in a very pronounced way on some Eastern dialects. (I'm just going by what I've heard - I don't have a source for it). I agree that the issue needs further study. David Cannon 09:45, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

Fiji was not totally invaded by Maafu. Remember Fiji has 300+islands. Tongan warriors only fought on Viti Levu as mercenries during the perpetual [tribal wars[3]. It would be prudent on their survival, not to over-step that freedom of arms in Fiji.

Once when the Rebbe was handing out dollars on New Years, the Rebbe said Happy New years to someone, and the person asked the Rebbe saying, he thoguht we didn't hold of it. The Rebbe pointed out in Ibid. 87 we say "The Lord will count in the register of people" which means, what the majority of the people count, HaShem too will count this. Satmar, et al.

Hi Tomer- Basically, my problems at the Satmar page are twofold:

A- There are two guys who keep deleting/redirecting the Aaron-Zalman conflict section. B- They refuse to explain exactly what their problems with the section are, how they could be fixed, or what sort of compromise they would be willing to agree to.

So I guess I'd be interested in, first of all, having the page protected, but also, in getting some advice or support from other wikipedians (preferably someone with some superiority that they might listen to?) insofar as helping to find a resolution to the ongoing problems relating to the article, so that the edit war doesn't continue once the page is no longer protected. Or maybe simply protecting it for a little while will make the other guys stop? I don't know. I'm certainly open to changing the article to make it more accurate or more NPOV, I just have a problem with the position that because some guys don't think it's "worthy of wikipedia", it must be deleted.

This is all my fault. I thought that I had to get 2/3+1 vote that is 2 Supporters for 1 Opposer, thought that I got it comfortably and did not want to spam people. In fact I got more than 75% 3 suppoerters for one opposer but certainly less than 80% (4 to 1). In panic I started to spam people two hours before closing the poll, without much results anyway.

I have put the population data of Stary Krym in the article. I am not sure if it needed but in 1914 there were 6040 people [4]. There is no Stary Krym article on Russian Wiki yet. I do not know there else we could look, it might be Italian (since it was a long-time Genoa colony, or a Turkey wiki because of Turkic connection or Crimean Tatarian wiki or a German wiki, but I hate to think how the city couls be spelled in this languages abakharev 13:14, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Netherlands

Can you look into non-compliance with our rules at this page by User:Fedor. The issue is two users who try to push the point of view that Holland is an improper name for the Netherlands. This is true in Dutch, but here we are the English language Wikipedia. One of them (not Fedor) also tries to push another point about the history of the name the Netherlands. I would appreciate if you can restore the version before the vandalism. I explained already several times the issues, in the article and on the talk page, but these gentleman remove the references and the tag that requests references. Unfortunately, (and oddly) some of the proponents of "River Plate" refer to this as an "american aberration" (curiously, I wasn't educated in America, issue that they neglected to mention) and even one of them has {{AmE-0}} in his page, which I believe shows a prejudice (or at least an animosity) against AmEnglish. Request For Protection Until Dispute Resolved

Hi, i want to know if its possible to protect the Gothic Metal article. A while back i performed a revision of the page after a near 2 month dispute on the articles contents. After intense discussion and several revisions of the talk page on the since deleted temp article, one of the users has proceeded to start vandalising pages ive edited. This user is DanteInferno. This user was involved in the debate in opposition to the revision i wished to make, which was made due to consensus being reached on the revision and the argument being abandonded against it being posted. Since the users return he has demanded that i am vandalising pages, and has claimed me of using sock puppets to make edits to pages, and has claimed several users dislike me and refuse to work with me. Both of these claims are unsourced. Dante also seems to exhibit Meglomanical Point of View, reverting any edits made to pages listed on his user page, on the basis he 'owns' the articles. I do not know clearly how to deal with this user, and i have posted this message to several admins as i wish to ask advice from several admins i have had no previous contact with, as i do not wish to seem biased. I hope that the page can be protected against this vandalism, as it is disrupting Wikipedia to prove a point, which along with the users other actions against me, is in violationg of several Wikipedia policys. When should factural material be completely removed?

I feel that you have removed factually correct material too soon after it is been written. This does not give any chance for a good idea to evolve by multiple correctins and additions. Some people are good with facts and some are good at writing. I guess 2 to 3 months would be long enough to give an article chance to evolve. Presumably, Wikepedia is here for 1000 years, so it does not matter if a few new factually correct articles are imperfectly formed at first edit, as long as they are evolve. I feel also, that you have removed at least one paragraph that has had several edits and several contributors in rather a specialised area of knowledge, so I feel that your vote here is outnumbered, so I would be grateful if you would return such articles and enrich the Wikipedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Snowmanradio (talk • contribs) 07:26, January 16, 2006 (UTC).

1. Well, the verb comes at the end because it's a subordinate clause. And it's in the present indicative rather than the past subjunctive because the main clause is. (Actually, I see there is a mistake: the main clause is in the future, which means the subordinate clause should be in the future too. I should have written Dann wird es egal sein, wie viele Dopplungen es geben wird.) Both clauses would have the past subjunctive if it were contrafactual: Dann wäre es egal, wie viele Dopplungen es gäbe, but I have more hope than that that the plan will be implemented.
2. It's hard to say based only on the few pronunciations you give there, but at a guess, I'd say you lived as a small child in Puerto Rico (based on the flapped pronunciation of the r in Toronto) and spent the majority of your later years in the vicinity of Eau Claire, Wisconsin (based on the front vowel in the second syllable of Toronto). --Angr (tɔk) 05:58, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi, nice job translating the article. I've checked the article and your comments, some remarks:

• You might know these sites, but a dutch dictionary can be found on http://www.vandale.nl (or http://www.vandale.be) (there's a search field in the center of the frontpage, although sometimes a bit difficult to se), and the traditional translation dictionary's around the net of course

• "schakeringen", plural of "schakering": I've translated it to "shade", just means a pattern, gradient, shade, etc... of colours, or something alike. "verschillende schakeringen op het kopje" just means the colours on its head aren't uniformly coloured but there's some colour gradient or so, I don't have a bird with me to check ;-)
• "eivoer" , I'm not a specialist in keeping birds ;-), but it seems something like this : http://www.parrotbunch.com/aanvullingen.htm , something extra you can buy for birds, don't know how it would be translated in english

Wikipedia:Harassment - Posting of personal information: (legal name, home or workplace address, telephone number, email address, or other contact information, regardless of whether the information is actually correct). The information you posted can be used to find personal information about me, hence I consider this harassment.

WP:SOCK#Multiple accounts stresses that users should be allowed multiple accounts without anyone knowing about them as long as they don't violate the sock puppet rules. You are clearly in violation with this policy as well. If for example Jimmy was posting anonymously under another user account and you discovered this it would likely be considered very rude to reveal this, or make an accusation of this order in general without any grounds to make such claims.

Vampire Finch

Vampire Finch certainly seems to be a subspecies, but I'm not sure of what, so I can't correct the article. There seems to be general agreement that the other six Geospiza species are good. Smallweed 09:19, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

The correct binomial for Sharp-beaked Ground Finch is certainly G. difficilis, as per BirdLife International etc. G. nebulosa was a name given by John Gould to a specimen brought back by Charles Darwin in 1837, but at some point in the past it was decided not to be a valid species. Why the name has reared its head again now I have no idea. I think the sooner the name Geospiza nebulosa is removed from Wikipedia the better. But I don't know the best way to edit Vampire Finch. I can't find any reference for it being a valid subspecies of Sharp-beaked Ground Finch, and therefore not worthy of a seperate article. My hunch is that Sharp-beaked Ground Finches found on Wolf Island have the alternate common name of Vampire Finch due to the behaviour they exhibit on just that one island, but i haven't got any hard evidence yet. An Esperanzial note

As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Rio La Plata

Hi TShilo! What's up Boricua? Me, nothing just here hanging.

I put the info about the boy who died at Rio La Plata after watching it on the news (actually, it was pretty scary, the camera was focused on a boat when divers came to that boat and the body was seen, they immediately switched to another camera!) I get Argentina's news on satellite, but Im a Boricua con orgullo myself!

I saw that you took out the part about the dead boy (R.I.P.) and I agree with you that his death is not revelant as per the article. One thing, however, that Argentine authorities pointed out multiple times during the news broadcast is that it is against the law to swim at Rio La Plata.

If we find online evidence about this, don't you think that information could be kept? It could save someone's life in the future...., I mean, I know people still do careless acts but, if they read that it is against the law to swim there, here at Wiki, it may deter some...

Anyways, I have fond memories of Aguadilla. I remember passing by a few times, seeing Wrangler and Prinair airplanes at Rafael Hernandez Airport. Now that airport is a big one, with Continental, jetBlue, FedEx, UPS, Pan Am and others. I'd never imagined! Aguadilla is a great city, through.

I don't agree. Not everybody knows that all "high islands", as you call them, are volcanic. Your edit is unencyclopedic and I'm going to keep on removing it. I will, however, ask a particular Fijian Wikipedian, whose advice I follow 80 percent of the time, to have a look at it. Frankly, your edit is less clear than mine. Remember that we're writing an encyclopedia for the general public, not for an elite echelon of geologists who know everything about the terminology used. That's why your edit is unencyclopedic. Excuse me, I didn't say you "invented" the term. I just said that it's not clear, and I stand by that. No offence was intended. I'm slightly defensive myself, however, as 85 percent of everything Wikipedia has on Fiji was written by me, I feel rather protective of that topic. I meant nothing personal by what I said. Even Britannica - a much more scholarly encyclopedia than Wikipedcia claims to be - keeps confusing terms to a minimum and defines them in the text when it uses them. I'm no longer opposed to your use of the term "high island," though I do think that there should be a very brief textual clarification. But I'm sorry I made a mountain out of a molehill. Maps

I love requests. :) I'll see what I can do for Galapagos, but as for Oceania... one, I don't think it's too useful, and two, my mapping style isn't really fit for it. I tend to only include major islands, and Oceania has a LOT of islands that, having to zoom out that far, are tiny specks but still major. I just don't see it working with my style... but I might look at it, since I've been considering doing continental maps (just because). But no promises - in fact, really, I don't think I can do that one. I can let you know how I make mine, though. :) --Golbez 03:38, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
