Fire at Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls
I was wondering if you think this should be included in the Incidents at Universal parks article. Thoughts?
--Snowman Guy (talk) 01:24, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- Yes it should be included in both Incidents at Universal parks and Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls. Themeparkgc Talk 01:26, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Goofy's_Sky_School_concept.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Goofy's_Sky_School_concept.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 04:17, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
Being Human
Hmm - I just moved Being Human (Canadian TV series) to Being Human (2011 TV series) because WP:MOSTV gives this as a guideline. Then I noticed that WP:NC-TV sort of contradicts that, and that you'd already moved it once. In order to clear this up, I've brought it up at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Manual of Style#Disambiguation of TV show titles - maybe you'd like to get involved. Formula Rossa Un-editing
hi there. I've noticed that you undid an edit which I made yesterday. My edit was based upon the reference used (RCD) having incorrect data re. the Formula Rossa track length. Both the Ferrari World and Intamin websites show a greater length than the RCD site, and the Wikipedia Formula Rossa page also reflects the greater length. I'm fresh to this site, and haven't figured out how to cite the new references.
please explain your reasoning, thanks
Ride and Show Guy (talk) 09:26, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
- Mmmn... it seems the Intamin website says its 2.2 km (1.4 mi) with the RCDB entry saying 2 km (1.2 mi), and the official website saying 2.07 km (1.29 mi). Generally this sort of data is the same across all sources (and I usually just check RCDB as it is normally right). Since it isn't the same across all three I'm not quite sure which one we should go for. I am sort of leaning towards saying "approximately 2 km (1.2 mi)" in the article. What do you think?
- As for citing sources I use RefToolbar. The RefToolbar is a JavaScript utility that can easily be enabled in your account. The toolbar adds a Cite tab to your editing toolbar and allows the easy use of a variety of templates including {{Cite news}}, {{Cite web}}, {{Cite book}} and {{Cite journal}}. The toolbar allows you to choose what type of item you are citing (i.e. news, web, book or journal) and fill in parameters in an easy-to-use dialogue box. The toolbar automatically wraps this citation in <ref> </ref> tags. To install, simply go to Special:Preferences and click on the Gadgets tab. Tick the option stating "refTools, adds a "cite" button to the editing toolbar for quick and easy addition of commonly used citation templates." By saving this setting and restarting your internet browser, you should now have an additional menu on the editing toolbar called "cite". You do not have to use this toolbar but I would recommend doing so as it simplifies everything and presents it professionally. Regards Themeparkgc Talk 11:16, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
- thx for your reply. yes, the three sites don't agree. my guess is that the RCD info (being the most generic) is from original PR estimates (this makes some sense too as RCD is also showing 4 trains), the Ferrari World info is from design specs and that the Intamin info is based upon what they actually manufactured/installed. were it not for the length being so close to the others in the "longest coaster" measuring stick (which is important to some folks, not me personally) I think that being squishy would be fine. in this case it actually makes a difference in the results. all that said, I'm good either way; the info should be consistent tho and the Formula Rossa page should match the others.
- thx for the tip on the citing tools, I'll play with that. kind regards,
- I've standardised the statistics across the articles (Formula Rossa and List of roller coaster rankings) to feature the data from the Intamin website. Glad I could help with the referencing tool. Themeparkgc Talk 04:19, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Deadlink protocol
Hi, thanks for the note re: deadlink protocol. I removed one link on each of two articles, and reinstated a link which had been tagged as dead on one. Can you recall which link removal is giving you concern? If it is for the Anglesey Model Village item then the link was irrelevant as the information contained in the "undeadlinked" external reference includes all relevant information mentioned in the article (which in my opinion is pretty much advertising anyway). If it was the Clocks (band) article then I might understand your point, although since the link was to the band's own website then there is absolutely no likelihood of a defunct band resurrecting it, surely? Neither site is cached anywhere that I could find. Sitush (talk) 04:13, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry, I see that you found a cached version. Still seems to me to be a pointless reference but, sure, that's the policy. Sorry to have bothered you. Sitush (talk) 04:16, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
- That's okay. If you come across a dead link you can head to http://web.archive.org/*/ and paste the dead link on the end of that. If there are any archived copies it should come up. That's what I did in this edit. Regards Themeparkgc Talk 04:21, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
- That's one of the things which I thought I had done, but clearly not properly! Do you not think that the information in this case is redundant due to duplication, though? I've put a note on my talk page about this, just above your TB insert. Sitush (talk) 04:27, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
- I've proposed it for deletion on the grounds of it being a stub article with no contributions in the last 3 years and it being an advert. Themeparkgc Talk 04:33, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:New_Texas_Giant_promo.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:New_Texas_Giant_promo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Closedmouth (talk) 17:26, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- I was wondering if you have made a mistake with tagging this image. It has {{Non-free use rationale}} filled in already on the page. The speedy tag states "A rationale must be included on this image description page." It is included so why is it being nominated for deletion? Do you want more details filled in on the rationale? Themeparkgc Talk 23:37, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- No mistake, a fair-use rationale must detail why the image is necessary for the article it's used in, why it's not replaceable with a free equivalent, why it doesn't compete with the copyright holder's use of the work in question. Basically it needs to fulfil all ten criteria of the WP:NFCC. A lot of people seem to think that because an image is promotional, the company who created the image won't mind us using it without claiming fair use because they're getting free advertising, which is faulty logic. Oh well. --Closedmouth (talk) 18:51, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry it was just {{db-f6}} that confused me because it regards images without rationales or copyright tags (both of which the image had). It seems to me that maybe {{db-f7}} would have been better suited - I don't know though. I've expanded the rationale anyway now. Hopefully it details why it is relevant to the article and why it should be included on Wikipedia. Thanks for your reply. Themeparkgc Talk 23:57, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

Amusement Parks and Summer Camps
A note to any Wiki Administrator:
If you look at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Amusement_parks_in_the_United_States_by_state you will find more defunct parks than active parks in many states. Since there is a category for defunct parks, and since it is a great waste of time for people looking for active parks to click on all the dead parks, I would like permission to move all inactive parks to the defunct category. This is also true for summer camps.
Also, every state has a subcategory of waterparks, which creates redundant entries and rather ludicrous directories, like a state that has 2 parks, and a sub-category with only one waterpark. So, I would like to get permission to migrate all waterparks to the state level.
Wiki commons has a single category of parks for all states, and that list is going to get huge, as North America has 65 combo parks, 34 large amusement parks, 237 waterparks (and hundreds of smaller aquatic centers and fun parks, which should not be in a Wiki anyway). So I would like to create a set of commons sub-categories for each state, identical to the wiki articles.
With over 850 traditional summer camps (not including scouting, day camps and special needs camps) it gets confusing to have summer schools in the list. I would like to utilize the category for schools, and clean out the traditional camps directory.
I am doing all of this in preparation for a massive 2011 update to the summer vacation wiki categories. Tons of photos will be uploaded, all CC3.0, and hundreds of Wikis created. After that I am going to walk on water and ascend to heaven.

Amusement and Water Park Categories
I am merging Amusement Parks and Waterparks to eliminate redundant listings and confusion. Many of the combination parks (150+ in the world) are split up, which confuses people about the park. Also, many parks are hybrids, since many waterparks are adding dry attractions, and many amusement parks are adding wet attractions that do not yet qualify them as waterparks. Just to make life more complicated, and fun, zoos and castles are adding amusements and splash parks. It any case, the single category for both APs and WPs makes it easier to find all of the fun parks in a state or country. This is in preparation for adding text to wiki articles, and adding thousands of photos to commons, and placing some of those photos in the wiki articles.
Also, a state like Hawaii has only one of each, so having 2 categories for most of these small states and countries creates a maintenance nightmare. And for Florida, it is easier to see what Disney has to offer if all of the Disney sub-parks are listed together, like the zoo and the two waterparks next to Epcot and Magic Kingdom.
Jon Summer Vacation (talk) 01:29, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
- I was going to respond to a comment on my talk page, but since the discussion is started. It is not correct to start combining these categories since they are about parks that may be co located. Add to that the fact that many water parks are standalone and that in and of itself justifies keeping both structures. Yes there may be overlap, but that does not make it wrong. The same goes for small categories when they are a part of a series. If you want to continue this I suggest that you start a discussion, like I suggested on your talk page. Admin on Commons
Hi, I was wondering if you know of any admins at Wikimedia commons who can help me. I recently nominated a picture for deletion and suspect it might be child pornography. (Deletion request here). I have already contacted the foundation via email as well voicing my concerns. However, there has been no response in three days and am worried that my concerns went unnoticed. Is there anyone you know who can delete the file while waiting for the foundation to completely get rid of it, if they find it necessary? Thanks. Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:52, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Could you please explain this edit please. I delibrately did not move it to contested requests and I stated as such. There may have been a simple good reason that I was not aware of (this not being an area of my expertise) that mean it was uncontroversial. Asking for more information is not the same as contesting a request - especially as contested requests pretty much automatically starts a full discussion and this may not have been neccessary in this case. If you were contesting yourself then obviously that's fine but your edit summary suggests that wasn't the case.Dpmuk (talk) 23:05, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
- I probably should have noted in my edit summary that I felt it should probably go to discussion. Anyway it seems like the request was withdrawn by the nominator in this edit. Themeparkgc Talk 23:11, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
- Yep, because it had already been done by an admin they had asked - long before listing it at WP:RM so no foul play. I'm not enough of an expert on the subject to know whether it is uncontroversial although I may read up on the subject tomorrow if I get the chance. Dpmuk (talk) 23:14, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
- My understanding is a move could be considered uncontroversial if nobody watching WP:RM nor the admin moving the article disagrees with the proposal. Some types of moves that I'd consider as uncontroversial:
- If the original page had disambiguation brackets but the non-disambiguated title was a redirect to the disambiguated title the article with the disambiguated title could be moved over the redirect.
- Article creator request
- Obvious typo/capitalisation fixes
- User draft to article namespace
- In a lot of cases, articles listed as uncontroversial are actually sent for a full discussion only for the result to be in favour of support anyway. Themeparkgc Talk 10:38, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

RE:Categories
Thank you for the suggestion. Yes, I do believe it would be easier to structure it in the same manner of Roller Coaster categories, as well as to add HOTCAT. On a similar note, I was also planning on creating an "Amusement rides disestablished by year" category to replace the current "disestablishments" category on theme park articles. Would you be able to perform the edits for me? Thanks.--Snowman Guy (talk) 21:54, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
- I'll change the category structure shortly. I'm currently just adding the categories to a batch of articles. Themeparkgc Talk 21:56, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Windseeker
Hello, you are probably the only person i know that knows lots about Windseeker (we both edit it) so i was just wondering... I found a picture of windseeker in action and it is from facebook. Can facebook pictures be used on Wikipedia? And also, after you assessed the WindSeeker page, what does 'add a ride' section mean? (I know what you mean about the history but that will take some time as its a new ride) Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dom497 (talk • contribs) 19:56, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
- Unfortunately Facebook pictures cannot be used on Wikipedia unless they specifically state that they are released into the public domain or are under a compatible Creative Commons license. Here are a few photos that could be used, however, all of them are not of the best quality and probably wouldn't be worth transferring them over. If you do find a photo that you think may be eligible post a message here with the link and I'll check it out.
- I was thinking that a "History" section could be added which would detail when the ride was announced, when construction began at each location, when construction was completed. Basically this would wrap or replace the current "Construction status" section. As for the "Ride" section, it could describe the basic ride experience - e.g. "Riders are seated on one of 64 (check that) seats spread out around a central, 300-foot (91 m) tower. When the ride is dispatched it begins to slowly rotate around the tower and raise up the tower. Once at the top of the tower, guests experience __ Gs as the ride spins its top speed of ___ ." etc. I know the ride isn't open yet but further detail could be added based upon the concept videos as well as videos of other installations.
- Any problems or further queries feel free to contact me. Kind Regards Themeparkgc Talk 21:32, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
- O.K. thanks!!! I'll probably start to work on a 'history' section in the next week. You also might want to check out the new section i put in called 'Layout'. It's probably worth changing the words and adding more (I think your the person to do it). (P.S. Just added photo to WindSeeker. Please check of it is fine. Delete it if necessary) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dom497 (talk • contribs) 21:50, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
- Just with the photo - is it yours? It's just you have a non-free rationale (normally used when the file is not yours) however you claimed it was your own work and published it under a Creative Commons license. Themeparkgc Talk 22:05, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, I caught this conversation when a talkback template showed up on my watchlist. Interestingly, all but one of the photos that show up on your Flickr link above are mine; go figure. Apologies for the quality of those photos; they were taken on Kings Island's opening day with just the crappy 640x480 camera on my old cheap cell phone. Once KI's ride is operational, I intend to take my good 5-megapixel camera down there and try to get a good picture of it spinning at the top of the tower from the top observation deck of the park's Eiffel Tower replica, which is approximately the same height as WindSeeker. This would help show what the ride looks like from a direct side view rather than the bottom-up view shown by the photo Dom497 added. jcgoble3 (talk) 22:24, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
- So here's what happened...I asked my friend if he had a good picture of WindSeeker (he went this past weekend). He asked me if it can be from FB (he has an account) and i said probably not. So he emiled his own picture to me and said i can put 'own work'. It turns out later that it was another persons photo from FB and he just sent it to me. So that picture is out and will be deleted. And for once more... WindSeeker is without a picture!!! (Oh and Jcgoble3, after what was discovered at CW with the ride, all windseekers have started their testing all over again. Just look at kings island webcams... you can see the test dummies are back on the seats. For short... windseeker probably won't be open for one more week) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dom497 (talk • contribs) 23:25, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, I've heard unconfirmed reports on a forum I frequent that KI's WindSeeker hasn't even begun testing and that the movement of the ride unit up and down the tower seen on the webcam is only because the ride unit is being used as a lift to access various parts of the tower. I don't have a reliable source for that, though. I do know that when I was at KI last Friday, the seats were tethered together with a rope. jcgoble3 (talk) 01:21, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
Well, I've added a "Ride" section to the article. Hopefully we can get an image sorted sometime in the future. Themeparkgc Talk 08:11, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
- Jcgoble3 i'm not saying your wrong but if you look on the KI website (Windseeker page) you will see a post saying that testing has begun (posted on May 19, 2011). For the past week, i haven't seen any movement of the ride on the webcams and say that they dummies were taken OFF of the ride. Then just yesterday i saw them back on... so i think testing was happening at one point but now has to start again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dom497 (talk • contribs) 19:24, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

WindSeeker False Information
Hello, just wanted to notify you that over the last couple of months alot of false info has been added to the WindSeeker page. I don't know if your an administrator, but i think it will be a good idea to semi-protect the page for awhile... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dom497 (talk • contribs) 14:19, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Dom497. Just to let you know, I am not an administrator. If you feel the page should be semi-protected you could nominate it here, however, there probably hasn't been enough recent vandalism to justify it (so it would probably be declined). If you would like some assistance in combating vandalism or incorrect information have a look at Twinkle. If you enable Twinkle in your account it will provide you with a series of buttons to rollback edits to a previous version. After experience with that tool I was granted rollback rights. I liked how you have revised the List of former Islands of Adventure attractions article with sections for each attraction instead of a long listing, and I believe a similar re-write should be done for the List of former Universal Studios Florida attractions article as well. It may even help to merge several of the articles for former USF attractions which are currently on the verge of deletion (though I still feel some attractions merit their own article). Unfortunately, I don't have the time to re-write the article now. If you could do it do it for me, that would be great. Thanks!--Snowman Guy (talk) 00:04, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- Essentially that is what I was thinking. I expect the deletion discussion will be closed as Merge and Redirect. If/when that is the case Whpq (talk · contribs) and I will merge the articles into the List of former attractions article. You are welcome to help if you wish. I'll leave it a couple of weeks to see the result of the deletion discussion before I do anything to the article. Regards Themeparkgc Talk 00:13, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

The Swamp Thing Set & Other Stuff...
Hi.
The AFD for the collected individual attractions has been closed, so its time to get to work sourcing and merging, or redirecting as appropriate. I'd like to take an organised approach to this so we don't step on each other's toes as we go throguh the list of articles. I suggest we list the attractions on the talk page of Wikipedia:WikiProject Amusement Parks, and then mark them off as they are dealt with. We might get some addiional manpower from other members of the wikiproject. Your thoughts? Cheers! -- Whpq (talk) 20:22, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
- I think we should post a message there but I doubt too much help will come from it. Snowman Guy (talk · contribs) may be willing to assist as he worked quite a bit on all of those articles. Windseeker Support Image
Hello, I know I have been bugging you alot, but knowing that you know alot about rides, I just wanted your opinion if this was a good idea. For the windseeker page, I've been working on a 3D model of the ride to help support the "structure" sub-topic. I tried looking on the web for a good picture but couldn't find one. By the way, if i were to get a windseeker image from Cedar Points website (or some random one) and added a couple of words on it, is that allowed for Wikipedia and would that fall under "My Work" or still the license of "Promotional Material"/ or "Cedar Point's Work"/ "Some other guys work". Should I continue the 3D model, or should i keep looking for an image on the web. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dom497 (talk • contribs) 00:16, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- I can answer part of that, specifically the part about whether adding a few words makes it your own work. Simply put, it doesn't. Such an image would be a derivative work and would thus still be copyrighted by the original creator of the image. I'm headed to Kings Island tomorrow; if I can take "my" camera with me (it's actually my dad's camera), I'll try to get some shots of it and upload them to Flickr under CC-BY-SA. jcgoble3 (talk) 00:50, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- I like the idea of a 3D model. One thing that I dislike about the non-free images with all the text is that they look a bit cluttered and some of the font is hard to read because of its colour and background. Maybe you could consider labelling the image A, B, C etc like File:Sfmm X2 train Workings.gif and noting this in the paragraph of the structure section: e.g. "An element described as the "red UFO" or "the Crown" exists above this platform (part C in the diagram)." - I did in fact get some photos at Kings Island yesterday; see Talk:WindSeeker#Some WindSeeker photos taken yesterday for the link. jcgoble3 (talk) 16:26, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Restructuring of Universal theme parks articles
Hey there. Nice job on the merging for the List of former Universal Studios Florida attractions page. Just wanted to say that I believe that following the merge for the article, we should next re-write the List of Islands of Adventure attractions and List of Universal Studios Florida attractions pages to retain the structure of the former attractions page, and, I also believe that any Universal attractions articles which have not been merged (both past and present) should be re-written in the style of Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and The Simpsons Ride, with plenty of references if they aren't currently in the articles. Thanks!--Snowman Guy (talk) 13:45, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- Well there still is a lot of work to go on merging those articles. There are still 8 articles waiting to be merged after that mass nomination for deletion. Once that is done I may look at what we can do to improve those articles. Themeparkgc Talk 22:33, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Need some help
As I am leaving for a family trip from June 30, 2011 to July 13, 2011, please find a reference for the edit i made on Canada's Wonderland's History on the WindSeeker page. I was watching the show this morning and saw what happened. But when i tried searching up what happened earlier in the day (i searched it up a couple of hours later) i couldn't find anything. Please try to find a reference as i couldn't find any and knowing that saying "i saw it on tv" is not a refrence Wikipedia accepts. Please do not also delete the edit as i promise that it is true. (This message has also been posted to jcgoble3's talk page as well... so maybe you guys could work together). Thanks!!!--Dom497 (talk) 18:26, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding was that "I saw it on TV" was precisely what {{Cite episode}} was for, so I've cited the info with that template using the information provided in the article. Either one of you is (of course) welcome to tweak it or correct it if I got something wrong. jcgoble3 (talk) 19:53, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- There just seems to be more and more problems with this ride. Sometime in the not-too-distant future I'll split out all of the information about the problems and incidents that have occurred on the WindSeeker to a separate section. As it is a new type of ride by Mondial there was always going to be problems, but I would've thought they could have fixed them by now. I think this warrants its own section over a bloated history section. Themeparkgc Talk 23:25, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

How to add???
I know i've been a pain recently asking so many questions (some which are completely point-less) but you know so much about amusement parks that i just can't stop asking you!!! :) So... I live a few minutes away from Wonderland (Canada's Wonderland) and pass by it almost everyday. I usually get stuck at red lights and see Windseeker operating. Once it goes down, Behmoth goes threw about 3 cycles and drop tower goes threw almost 6 cycles before Windseeker begins a new cycle. I think this would be perfect to add to the WS article but because i can't really reference it... is there a way i can add it without it getting deleted. Thanks....again!!!--Dom497 (talk) 13:25, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
- Firstly, don't worry about asking me questions - I don't mind. Now, you may be able to find a source for each of the rides stating their cycle time and/or their capacity. Keep in mind, that these are the theoretical figures. I personally would question the hourly capacity of the WindSeeker because, by my calculations, the ride would ascend, descend, come to a stop and then start ascending immediately again. Anyway the statistics:
Statistic Behemoth WindSeeker Hourly capacity 1545 1280 Riders per dispatch 32 64 Cycle time 1:15 3:00 Adjusted cycle time 2:30 3:00 Refs [1] [2]
- I've calculated the cycle time for Behemoth as the time between each dispatch of a train. Using the capacity and the number of riders per dispatch, when operating at maximum capacity a train must leave the station every 1 minute 15 seconds. As these statistics are based on its 3 train operation, and each train only seats 32 riders; I've adjusted the cycle time for the same amount of riders so the time it takes both rides to dispatch the same amount of riders can be compared.
- In saying all this though, the way I interpreted the statistics would be considered original research (O.R.). Even though most of the statistics could be verified by reliable sources, the calculations I made to come up with an adjusted ride time would be O.R. So in conclusion, I think it's best to leave this off. Interesting none the less though. Themeparkgc Talk 22:49, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

The fact was ... that the steepest roller coaster in the world, with a drop angle of 121°, is Takabisha at the Fuji-Q Highland amusement park in Japan? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Earthquake the big one
I have a simple little question for you:
Which is easier to do? Revert a good faith merge and watch the merge give up on the article leaving the merge undone for years? Or just delete the unsourced stuff after the merge?
If I merged in unsourced stuff, the answer is to delete it, not to revert the whole damn thing. D O N D E groovily Talk to me 02:00, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
- Firstly, sorry if you disagree with my good faith reversion but I still feel it was the right thing to do. The nomination for deletion included 17 articles. Yes, the AfD was closed over a month ago now but since I have merged 12 of those articles by myself (and only had assistance from one other editor on another 3 articles) I feel this is a reasonable time period. It will not be left for years and to prove this I'll try and have all 17 articles done within the next week.
- If you felt it was taking too long to merge the articles then you should have had a good look at the AfD and the destination article. From the AfD you could tell that only verifiable content from the source articles should be merged. Merged information should then match the structure and context of the destination article rather than just being a duplicate of the entire article including its infobox.
- As I stated at the start I still stand by my edit. Regards Themeparkgc Talk 03:15, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
Actual height of WindSeeker
I'm really confused but i do belive that Cedar Fair promotes the ride as being 301ft which would be 92m. At the link below, it says that the ride is 94.7m high... whats the actual height of the ride... and who's wrong cedar fair or mondial?
Link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/andrewb94/5959638036/in/photostream --Dom497 (talk) 23:58, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
- I would say that Mondial would be correct but since most of the reliable sources say Cedar Fair's measurement we might have to stick with that for verifiability. Maybe the highest a carriage goes is 92 metres (302 ft) but the actual structure is another 2.7 metres (8.9 ft) taller (to account for the UFO). Themeparkgc Talk 00:37, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Westcoaster Images
Can the Westcoaster images of the Knott's Windseeker be used on Wikipedia. If so, what license would they fall under?
This is the link to the site... just click on the links that say "Knott's Berry Farm": http://www.westcoaster.net/updates.php?updateCD=listing --Dom497 (talk) 13:58, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
- All images from other websites would most likely be copyrighted by their respective owner unless they have given direct permission for others to use the images. Another thing that you could consider is contacting Jim Disney (owner of the site) and asking him for permission to release some of the photos on the site into the public domain. This process is called OTRS and is based on Wikimedia Commons. Click on the OTRS link I have provided for more information regarding that process. Themeparkgc Talk 04:37, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Refrence Archiving
Well, reference numbers 33 and 37 on the WindSeeker page completely don't work and trying to archive them doesn't work either. Are those references gone for good???--Dom497 (talk) 12:24, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Dragon Challenge incident at IOA
According to this article a guest riding the attraction was hit in the eye by an unknown object in mid-ride. I believe this should be added to both the Dragon Challenge and Incidents at Universal parks articles but do not have the time to do so at the moment. Would you be able to add it for me? - Also, I think the article should try to look the same as the Behemoth article. It provides lots of information and organizes it nicely. Because of this i am putting the under construction template as lots will be changing as the ride was just announced.--Dom497 (talk) 12:03, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
CW 2012 Milestone Chart
I was thinking of adding a milestone chart on the 2012 article just like Windseeker but i couldn't seem to think of the proper way to make the chart. I know what the milestones can be listed as as the milestones are listed here. Any help?--Dom497 (talk) 03:13, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- I don't know quite what you are saying here but if you are after a table there is a tool under the Advanced tab of the edit toolbar (above the edit window). After you've clicked on that, the last button the the toolbar should allow you to insert a table to the article. Is this what you are after? Themeparkgc Talk 06:46, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- ya that's kinda helps. What I was trying to say was the link above list the features of the ride. All those features could be listed as milestones. Anyway, within a few days I will create a chart on the article and you can tweak it up once I add it.--Dom497 (talk) 11:22, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- I added the chart. How does it look?--Dom497 (talk) 03:18, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- It looks good, however, is it necessary just yet? Once at least one of the milestones has been completed I think it would be good, but at this stage it just seems to be a waste of space. Themeparkgc Talk 03:47, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Apocalypse (Six Flags America)
The only reason I did the infobox like Road Runner Express (Six Flags Magic Mountain) because it is simple to read. What you did makes it looks like there are two coasters of the same thing and also I don't like that on the categories that have Apocalypse as a defunct coaster since you have it closed on the Great America section.--Jpp858 (talk) 03:46, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
- I personally feel that the way it is now is more like it is being listed as two coasters. You have two opening dates and no closing dates. You are right about the mis-categorisation though. I've now removed the automatic categorisation of defunct roller coasters in the extend template because it has previously been removed from the main template by another user. I think the infobox should go back to the way I had it with the extension because it is the most informative. In saying that though, I'm not going to start a war with you. Themeparkgc Talk 07:35, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
- I wasn't trying to start a war in anyway, I was just giving my opinion. I am just used to like SkyScreamer infobox and so it's like there are multiple SkyScreamers. With the infobox you put on Apocalypse, to me it made it look like there was a coaster at Six Flags America that is currently under construction and there was one that just closed at Great America. Maybe we can keep the the opening day just to Six Flags America new opening day only since the title is for the ride is at America not Great America and just have that opening day in the imformation.--Jpp858 (talk) 20:40, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
- Just to clarify, my reference to an edit war wasn't say that you were starting a war. I was just stating that I wouldn't revert your edit to change the infobox back to the way I preferred it, as this could be seen as going into a war with you. Kind regards, Themeparkgc Talk 09:03, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
Disney World Test Track may be re-designed
A new car is now on the track for the ride which looks like a upgrading version of the current cars. In the same link, the ride is rumored to to be closed form January 2012 to Feb. that same year. It also states that in that period the whole ride story-line and concept could be changed.
Just wanted to let you know because you are part of the Disney World wiki project.--Dom497 (talk) 16:36, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
- At this stage it is rumours so it shouldn't be included yet. I'm sure when there is something more official some of the other Walt Disney World members (like Jedi94 and McDoobAU93) will be on to it like a flash. Thanks for letting me know though. Themeparkgc Talk 23:27, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
Canadas Wonderland GA in the future???
Hello, one of the many Wikipedia members,PFHLai, told me that I should nominate the Canada's Wonderland article for GA status... I know there is a lack of references in the article but I just wanted to ask if it is even worth nominating the aticle because of the lack of references. Thanks!!!--Dom497 (talk) 16:00, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
- I wouldn't nominate it just yet. As you said it does have a lack of references coupled with some maintenance tags, unsourced statements etc. I could do a bit of a review of the article sometime in the next week if you wish (kind of like a peer review or a Good Article review). Themeparkgc Talk 02:49, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
- If you want to then by all means go right ahead.--Dom497 (talk) 18:46, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
- Look at this link. Read were it says the opening at the park. Then read the paragraphs about the park opening and construction on Wikipedia. Huh!!!!--Dom497 (talk) 22:49, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
- Very similar. I personally wouldn't see it as a copyright violation though. One sentence seems to be identical but the rest seems to be different. It could be slightly reworded to ensure it isn't seen as a copyright violation. Themeparkgc Talk 23:23, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
- I was really just surprised to find that when I was just looking for references for the article. Anyway, only if you want to, I was wondering if you could take one last quick glance at the article and see if anything else needs to be fixed before I nominated it for GA.--Dom497 (talk) 20:03, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

DRCP Rating Inclusion?
Hello, As creator of something called the Disney Ride Classification Program, an establishment for rating Walt Disney World attractions, I was wondering if we could consider adding the DRCP ratings to attraction Infoboxes. You can view the temporary, under construction page for the DRCP here: User:Tcwmatt/Disney Ride Classification Program The program will launch on Sept. 27, 2011. Thanks! Tcwmatt (talk) 15:55, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hi. Firstly I thought I would bring your attention to a couple of Wikipedia policies that may be relevant to your contributions: WP:WEBSITE (regarding the notability of webpage-based articles on Wikipedia) and WP:COI (regarding possible conflicts of interest).
- Secondly, a ratings system for rides could theoretically be implemented into the Disney ride infobox. However, unless ratings for rides are based on the official Disney ratings (e.g. Thrill Rides, Mild But Wild Rides, Fun for Little Ones, Fun for Everyone etc), I would see these as violating the policies on no original research and neutral point of view. Kind regards Themeparkgc Talk 00:52, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for your quick response! I'm not familiar with Wikipedia's rules, so thanks for pointing this out. As for your second paragraph, I disagree. After all, ESRB ratings are presented on Wikipedia videogame pages. ESRB ratings are not "official ratings" made by the game creators, but an independent organization rating videogames. I think it's the same thing in this case. Disney's Thrill Rides, Mild but Wild, etc. aren't necessarily "official ratings", but they are simply categories in which Disney puts their attractions. The DRCP ratings would not be taking an opinion or point of view, rather it would be simply stating a fact: The DRCP rating for X ride is XX. That's not an opinion but a fact. Let me know if there's something I'm not understanding - like I said I'm new to this but I think it would be a great addition to the infoboxes. Tcwmatt (talk) 20:00, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- I personally don't think the inclusion of these ratings is encyclopedic. Don't immediately be discouraged though - feel free to bring it up on the talk page of the Disney infobox and try to gain a consensus for its inclusion. Themeparkgc Talk 04:32, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, I definitely will - thanks for your help! Tcwmatt (talk) 19:09, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Turbo Mountain at Adventure World.jpg
A tag has been placed on File:Turbo Mountain at Adventure World.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
If you believe this media is not replaceable, please remove the tag.
Thank you. –Dream out loud (talk) 13:49, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Something is Fishy
You ready for yet another message by the one and only ME!?!?! Anyway, some recent images that Waldenbg has uploaded have seemed kinda fishy to me. File:Behemoth Canadas Wonderland.jpg was uploaded to Canada's Wonderland's facebook page very recently while File:CWdroptower.jpg is almost definitively not his. This image was uploaded by someone else on Facebook a few months ago. Let alone, there is almost no info about the pictures. Can you please look into this...ONLY IF YOU WANT TO??? I will contact the person who uploaded the image of Drop Zone on facebook and see if he has an account on Wikipedia. Thanks!--Dom497 (talk) 01:07, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
- I know this is a late response but have you worked out what happened here? I've noticed both images are still available on Wikipedia. Themeparkgc Talk 07:30, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- I did contact the person who originaly created the image on facebook but he never responded. I will nominate the behemoth image for deletion as soon as I get a chance with the evidence. (I will continue to look into the other image)--Dom497 (talk) 11:38, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
November 2011
Your recent edits seem to have the appearance of edit warring after a review of the reverts you have made on Big Brother Australia 2012. Users are expected to collaborate and discuss with others and avoid editing disruptively.
Please be particularly aware, the three-revert rule states that:
- Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss the changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. I'm not going to block this time, because I hate blocking - and the page protection should do the job. But you should know better, and if I see more edit warring, I will block. WormTT · (talk) 10:02, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for protecting the page and not blocking me. In hindsight, it was stupid for me to consistently revert the trivial changes. My understanding of the policies was incorrect and I have made a note of that on the article's talk page. Kind regards Themeparkgc Talk 10:52, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

I just wanted to thank you for all the things you have helped me with here and guide me through this experience (when I first came here). I hope you continue on and keep enjoying what you do. Again, thanks for everything!!!!
P.S I still have some GA nominations that haven't been reviewed yet, so if you want to take over as the "nominator" that will be great! --Dom497 (talk) 21:02, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- It is sad to see you go. You've done well with your edits on all of the articles about Canada's Wonderland (especially the WindSeeker - look at what it was prior to you beginning editing it). As you have put your status as semi-retired, I hope to see you come back and do some updates from time to time. Kind regards Themeparkgc Talk 22:58, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
Boomerang Bay - disambiguation
I need to create a disambiguation page for "Boomerang Bay" since there are multiple Cedar Fair amusement parks that use this name for their water park. Currently when you search Boomerang Bay it takes you straight to the "Boomerang Bay (Carowinds)" page. I'm still pretty new at creating pages and have a lot to learn still. Would you mind explaining the best way to accomplish this when you have time? I would greatly appreciate it. GoneIn60 (talk) 19:24, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Talk page redirects
ThemeparkGC,
Just so you know, I always delete talk page redirects created by moves. Generally, I don't think it makes sense to redirect talk pages. The talk page should be there to discuss the redirect, not to redirect to the article talk page. Usually when I've done this, an admin has deleted it in the next week or so anyway, and it doesn't hurt to have it. Thanks, D O N D E groovily Talk to me 18:59, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I wouldn't have thought it would be deleted unless it was tagged to meet the criteria for speedy deletion. Kind regards, Themeparkgc Talk 22:27, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- It's usually deleted as U1 (user requests deletion, since blanking is considered a deletion request). I think G6 (maintenance) applies as well. D O N D E groovily Talk to me 01:55, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, cool. I didn't realise just blanking it would result in it being deleted. Sure enough after re-reading CSD page this is correct. Themeparkgc Talk 05:27, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Without giving you the whole shaggy dog story, you can delete this file. Thanks for moving it though. I had given up hope of encountering a non-officious file-mover. --FormerIP (talk) 23:27, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- Unfortunately I couldn't delete it due to me not having administrator rights (I only have file mover rights). I tagged the file for deletion and RHaworth (talk · contribs) picked up on it and has since deleted it. Commons advises local project files should be renamed so that's why I performed the move. Glad I could help. Themeparkgc Talk 08:10, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification
Hi. In WhiteWater World, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Macquarie (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. For more information, see the FAQ or drop a line at the DPL WikiProject.

PTC history
Hi Themeparkgc:
I'm glad to see that you are interested in Amusement Parks, but we need to get some history correct. Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC) stopped building coasters in 1979. Please see my citation on that page. I can also site other sources, including many conversations I have had with the current owner Tom Rebbie. I am keenly interested in amusement park and roller coaster history and have done a lot of research on PTC and Curtis D. Summers.
I have been trying to edit all the coaster pages that incorrectly list PTC as the manufacturer, one of which you undid yesterday (Bush Beast). Please note that if you are using RCDB as a source, you must carefully look at where "manufactured by" appears. If it is under "trains" then the manufacturer only applies to the trains, not the entire coaster. RCDB is a great source, and I know Duane Marden, and I have contributed much to that site as well, but you have be careful how you read it. Also, you can't really trust any other online sources as most of them just copy what they see on Wiki or RCDB. I don't know who runs the Parkz site that was cited, but their information is incorrect. PTC did not build Bush Beast. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JlACEer (talk • contribs) 14:20, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for the additional information you have provided to the article. I was using Parkz as the source for the manufacturer. I believe that maybe they had mis-interpreted the RCDB entry. I generally used RCDB as the primary source, however, in this case there was no information on the manufacturer so I looked elsewhere. To help you find incorrectly listed PTC coasters, this category may be of use. Kind regards Themeparkgc Talk 21:11, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, that's where I found this first error, and I see a lot more, particularly the newer coasters. The problem is that although I have several sources that list all the PTC coaster projects, it's sometimes difficult to find a citation for coaster that was built by someone else. I can't really cite the PTC source and say "this coaster is not on the list, therefore it had to be built by someone else," although that would make things a lot easier. Also thank you for correcting my periodical citation, I will use that as a template for future citations. While I have your attention, do you know how I would go about citing a press release? We have hundreds of press releases in our files, but they may or may not be online. There is a lot of reliable and valuable information in those press releases but I don't know how to use them in Wiki articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JlACEer (talk • contribs) 16:42, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
- Template:Cite press release sounds like what you are looking for. Generally, sources don't have to currently exist online. If they haven't ever been online just fill out the parameters other than URL and you should be fine. Also, when you make a post to a talk page as you have done here, please remember to sign your posts using four tidles (i.e. ~~~~). Thanks Themeparkgc Talk 21:07, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Planet Snoopy Photos
Hey, would it possible to use those photos that are going to get orphaned and deleted from the individual Planet Snoopy articles on the main Kings Island page? Perhaps we could make a small picture for each embedded within the table? Or would that be going overboard with images, considering the number of attractions listed on the page? (Also, I am watching your page.) I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 01:53, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'm all for the inclusion of images in the articles but not the logos like File:Character Carousel Logo.jpg. They are licensed on Wikipedia as fair use and thus they shouldn't be excessively used. Images such as File:Fairly Odd Coaster overhead.jpg which are freely licensed, can be brought into the article. Also, when these logos are produced at a small size (i.e. suitable for a table) they become harder to read. Themeparkgc Talk 02:02, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Starlight Withdrawn
Just curious why you took out the GA nomination for the Starlight Spectacular nomination.--Dom497 (talk) 21:24, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- I personally felt it wasn't ready for a GA nomination when I compare it to other articles I have got to GA status including WhiteWater World and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Islands of Adventure). As I have stated on the article's talk page:
“ | My major concern is the references. There are no reliable sources with the only sources being either forums or primary sources. | ” |
- Even if that concern was to be resolved, I feel there would still be many issues found in a GA review. If you wish to come back to Wikipedia and deal with the review yourself, feel free to re-nominate it though. Themeparkgc Talk 21:37, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
Re-directs
I have a question that I am unable to find, how do you delete a redirect on a page? Maxair (ride) redirects to Cedar Point and I wanna delete that redirect because maxair has its own page. Astros4477 (talk) 17:17, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
- Most users don't have the ability to delete pages. This is left to administrators. You can however point the old redirect to the new article as I did here. Themeparkgc Talk 22:27, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
Hopkins Rides
I have a long list of Hopkins rides from their ride catalog and a feature article in Inside Track. Because there are so many rides, I was thinking of separating that one chart into multiple charts — flumes, shoot the chutes, river raft rides, coasters, and aerial cableways. It might take a little time to get to as the article and ride list do not mention the ride name that the park uses, so I have to look all that up on the park websites. Do you think that using separate charts be appropriate? JlACEer (talk) 00:38, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I think that it is a great idea. If you wanted to you could create a sandbox at User:JlACEer/sandbox or similar to work on developing the list before final publication at Hopkins Rides. Themeparkgc Talk 03:47, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
