GOCE December 2013 Blitz wrap-up and January Drive invitation
December Notes from the Guild of Copy Editors
The December blitz ran from December 8–14. The theme for this blitz was articles tied in some way to religion. Seven editors knocked out 20 articles over the course of the week. Our next blitz will be in February, with a theme to be determined. Feel free to make theme suggestions at the Guild talk page! The January 2014 Backlog elimination drive is a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on January 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on January 31 at 23:59 (UTC). Our goals are to copy edit all articles tagged in October and November 2012 and complete all requests placed before the end of 2013. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits at least one article, and special awards will be given to the top five in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", "Number of articles of over 5,000 words", "Number of articles tagged in October and November 2012", and "Longest article". We hope to see you there! Coordinator election: Voting is open for candidates to serve as GOCE coordinators from 1 January through 30 June 2014. Voting will run until the end of December. For complete information, please have a look at the election page. – Your drive coordinators: Torchiest, Baffle gab1978, Jonesey95 and The Utahraptor To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list. Titodutta Behemmoth Strikes out Entire Edits, Leaving Not Even a Sentence
Titodutta: Please enlighten us as to the reason for your oft practice of removing entire Edits, root & branch, leaving nothing. You remind me of a 9th grade teacher I had. If there was one misspelt word, she would stop reading, wad up your paper, and you had to begin again. The difference was that she at least would tell you which word you misspelt!
Plato's Philosophy The truth is best discovered through open discourse. Those who hide in inaccessible chambers and behind cryptic difficult to understand rules and protections, and in their self-proclaimed authority and censorship, curtail or completely remove speech or writings which do not please them, are not seekers of truth but barriers to the truth. I have many times attempted to find a way into this realm, this sacrosanct inner chamber, where Wikipedia Lords hold sway, wielding plenipotentiary powers of wholesale censorship. I have found no way to reach or contact these potentates, or to discover their precise (not vague, all-encompassing, but PRECISE) complaints about my several edits (rail passenger transport, etc.)... and without knowing how to amend these Edits to please the Lords (and not being given any opportunity to amend them), I have found that all of my past edits have been stricken in their entireties, without any real explanation other than "article was better without it," and with no way of appeal or redress.
Even the most dictatorial newspaper editor rarely excises (crosses out) the ENTIRE ARTICLE! No one of sense throws out the good with the bad! Only a blind despot heaves the baby out the window with the bath water! Cannot the Sanctified Allmighties leave a sentence or two, or even a well written and true paragraph? Will Khan leave not a blade of grass standing??
I'm sure that Fritz Schumacher himself would ask them, "Have you a human face?" Are they too big to fail, too grand to reply, and too glorious to bandy words with the humble?
RSVP here and to my e-mail (for I cannot understand how to be advised of your reply except by my e-mail). Rest assured that there are many thousands of would-be editors who have the same questions as I.

- Most probably you are talking about this edit, a four-month old edit, (you re-added recently, and was reverted too). I felt that edit had multiple issues included "unsourced", "prose style" Tito☸Dutta 06:08, 26 December 2013 (UTC) I have redacted your email id. --Tito☸Dutta 06:10, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

- Tito, as I've told you earlier I learnt HTML for SVQ, in the process I learn how to use HTML gradient. Its not that I did not try to copy your code, I tried and failed because keeping the same colour would have been a shameful though Planet Herald has done so. I tried to change the colours but it got messed up. So as a matter of fact, I did'n't copy your background code"". Hope you understand. Soham 13:10, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

2013 was one hell of a year. While it gave us some great movies (The Lunchbox, Kai Po Che!, Lootera, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag etc.) and some record-breaking blockbusters (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express, Dhoom 3), it also gave us some really sad moments (the deaths of Pran, Paul Walker, Nelson Mandela, Farooque Sheikh, re-crimilisation of homosexuality, typhoons and cycolones like Phailin and Haiyan). Nevertheless, I ain't gonna miss 2013, so have a happy 2014 ahead! Yours truly, --Jionpedia ✉ 19:16, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
