Thanks for your support
TomStar81/Archive 5: I wish to thank you for your support in my unsuccessful bid at becoming an Assistant Coordinator for the Military history WikiProject. Rest assured that I will still be around, probably even more than before, and I have the utmost confidence in the abilities of the current and new coordinators. I might also mention that I am already planning on running again in August. As always, if you need anything, just get in touch. -MBK004 21:25, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey! There isn't any chance of you wanted to adopt me is there? It's just that i would love some help from someone as experienced and as versatile as you. Gaia Octavia Agrippa (talk) 17:34, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Leo J. Meyer
Please have a look at the DRV for Leo J. Meyer (currently seen at User:Meyerj) located at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2008 March. Its my opinion that the article met the standards for verifiability and notability. I would appreciate your input into the matter. Mrprada911 (talk) 18:27, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Sure, I wasn't aware there was a current DRV and its over a month since the prior AfD was concluded. A deletion at AfD isn't necessarily a permanent bar to recreation, and from his statement (which I took on faith, not having seen the deleted version) Meyerj has done some significant work to the article in the interim. Some folks are a bit too speedy with their speedy tagging. I've commented in the DRV - and anyway, non-controversial articles are not uncommonly restored during a DRV so folks can know what they are talking about. Avruch T 20:07, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

- Get into gear, you'll do it, I know, it won't help your schoolwork that you are assistant coordinator however ;) I am too a procrastinator, however also goal-oriented, so I quite understand what you mean. Glad your health is back where it should be. Hope spring brings you the energy to work. Cheers, Ouro (blah blah) 10:30, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

USS New Jersey
Hi, do you think all ships that served in a war, should be in the Wikiproject of the country where the war happened? e.g. Wikiproject Kuwait for the Gulf 1. Or do u think it should just be for ships that played a major role in said war? [1] Ryan4314 (talk) 12:03, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for replying, sorry to disturb your work. Yes I agree with your view, it's funny there aren't any wikiprojects for particular wars, I would imagine WW2 would have a big one. Ryan4314 (talk) 22:08, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Random question
I was just curious, why was the discussion for Template:Externalimage added to a list of military-related deletion discussions? It's not a problem at all. I am just confused. Best, IronGargoyle (talk) 03:17, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Rewrite: 1st draft completed
Hi, I finally finished that rewrite I mentioned to you. It's on the Wikipedia mainspace now, an article HMS Cardiff (D108), I'd really value your input given your area of expertise. I know you're busy of course, so don't worry if you can't mate :) Ryan4314 (talk) 00:23, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'd definitely like to attempt FA, I have the utmost respect for you considering all the work you must've put in. I've just found out I've gotta convert like 15 cite web refs to cite book refs and rewrite the article so it "flows". Ryan4314 (talk) 16:53, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi Tom, sorry to disturb you, if you can't allocate any spare time to my little project just ignore this message, I totally understand, I know how demanding uni work can be.
I've done all the things suggested on the peer review, apart from the biggest thing (the "flow"), but that's just because I'm too lazy to rewrite a rewrite straight away.
- I want to ask you about the sections, I don't know if you know, but I recently discovered one of the sources (here) has a great deal of info on Cardiff the year after she was commissioned (coincidentally just prior to the Falklands kicking off). Do you think I should make a section for this info e.g. Pre Falklands War (1979-1982) or maybe just add it to "Construction" and change the sections name to Construction & Commissioning (although would I use the "&" symbol?)
- Also, there was a suggestion of merging the "Post Falklands" section into the "Falklands" section. Now I actually agree with this, as all the content in there was originally in the Falklands section and I just dragged it out to create a "Post Falklands" section (as you can probably tell I took a lot of influence for the layout from your Wisconsin article). If I do merge it, should I remove the years from the section titles, so the obvious 9 year gap doesn't show?
- How many pictures should be in the article? At the moment there is 6 (not including the one in the infobox). My personal mantra is that you shouldn't have anymore stereotypical standard ship pics (e.g. ) in an article after the one in the infobox, because once you've seen a ship (barring any major upgrades), it's not gonna look any different to any other pics of it. Is this a widely held view? If this is the standard then I wonder if you can help me choose some new pics for the latter part of article (more on that later)
Cheers mate ;) Ryan4314 (talk) 18:31, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Thankyou so much Ryan4314 (talk) 16:09, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
New! BCAD drive from Milhist
Can I invite you to particpate in our new assessment drive? It's strictly for experienced wiki-gnomes and has a degree of friendly competition built-in. It involves re-evaluating around 3500 Milhist B-Class articles to ensure they match our new criteria. As ever, we're offering a range of awards as our way of expressing our thanks. The drive doesn't start until 18:00 (UTC) on March 10 but you can sign up in advance here. It would be great if you can spare the time, --ROGER DAVIES talk 05:33, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

I have hastily knocked together a sample treatment of an alternative format for the aforementioned page and posted it to the article's talk page. As you have weighed in on the previous version, I would invite your comments on the alternate I am proposing. Do you think this would make the page more worth keeping? Is it worth the effort to redo the whole page? Is the whole concept a lost cause? Inquiring minds want to know. Academics and Adminship
Tom, since I have your sandbox watchlisted, I saw you new addition regarding your academic predicament. I would suggest that you postpone an RfA until your academic standing is confirmed one way or the other, not only for the benefit of relieving stressors (having an RfA and that at the same time), the fact that the issues from your previous 2 RfAs will be analyzed in detail (I expect multiple questions on that subject), but also your activity-level and possibility of burning-out here since academics do come first. Regards, -MBK004 06:22, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- Not a problem, regarding the mention and the circumstances. Remember that I'm somewhat in the same boat as you with regards to the academics. I'm in my 2nd of what I project to be 5 years of university and hovering at a less-than-desirable (according to my parents) GPA, although not as bad as yours. ;) -MBK004 07:32, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- I know the feeling about the shifting pattern in overall performance and paying attention. I'm not sacrificing anything with regards to my time spent here. GPA-wise, I'm actually working (successfully) on improving my GPA (as a result of my first year) that year was before I joined up here (believe it or not I never made a IP edit before creating my account). -MBK004 07:57, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

South Armagh Sniper article
Hi. I wish to thank you for assessing the South Armagh sniper article. This evaluation could be, however, a short living one; you should be alredy aware that an editor has placed a merging tag. His proposal is based on what he considers "total bollocks" in some parts of the text, OR and unsourced statements. Since you have assessed the article a B class, I invite you (if you can) to take part in the debate on whether merging or not. I think that merging in practice applies only to stubs, not to B class articles. Sorry for taking your time. Thanks in advance.--Darius (talk) 03:04, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi again, Tom. Thanks for assessing another article (the one about the Al Samoud missile). I promise to work on references as soon as possible. On the other issue, I was unable to contact Roger Davies for the controversy about the South Armagh Sniper. The guy proposing the merging was briefly blocked yesterday due to the use of despising language in an exchange with an administrator. He also is/was editing a mirror page about the sniper (here). There, in the "historial" page, he mocked and insulted the editions of other contributors for every edit he made, breaking Wikipedia guidelines. If you have a minute, please, take a browse there and on the proposed merge discussion this weekend. Sorry again for your time. Best Regards.--Darius (talk) 20:33, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Would like to see this DOD approved Study added to the Battleships, NSFS & DDG-1000 pages

- Tom I would really like for you to add the above Study to the Battleships, NSFS, and DDG-1000 pages as soon as possible. Congress is close to killing the DDG-1000 program because as Colonel Welch's study shows it does very little as to providing Naval Gun Fire Support. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Porsche996 (talk • contribs) 00:46, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Tom, Thanks for adding the update of the Colonel's Study. It would also be great if you could mention the fact it did earn the National Defense Universities award for Best Thesis in 2007. That fact gives the Thesis more credibility then just the findings of an Army NG Colonel. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Porsche996 (talk • contribs) 20:11, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey, a note to say it's good to see those wikibreak notices removed, even if it may only be temporary. We've never interacted outside of MILHIST but I've certainly enjoyed so many of your articles, which on occasion really been inspirational to me despite being fundamentally different to my usual scope of interest (well, disregarding the MILHIST aspect). Orphaned non-free media (Image:Milliardo Peacecraft.JPG)
Thanks for uploading Image:Milliardo Peacecraft.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:15, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Miscellaneous characters of Command & Conquer
I have nominated Miscellaneous characters of Command & Conquer, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Miscellaneous characters of Command & Conquer. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 19:19, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Your welcome :) Let me know if there are any reliable sources for it, I can help add some if they exist and keep it from being deleted. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 19:35, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- What I mean when I say "reliable sources" is "are there any interviews by the creators of these characters talking about their influences in making the characters", or "what did a video game magazine say about these characters in their review of the game?". That is the kind of information needed to establish notability.Judgesurreal777 (talk) 21:25, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

The templates to use are {{Cref}} and {{Cnote}}. You can see an example of how they are used on Che Guevara, which has a substantial number of explanatory notes. Fullmetal state alchemist
Hakuro was a one-episode character with almost no relevance in the other characters (at least no notable). I guess other non-notable characters can be deleted. Some characters lists need to be merged, for now I was thinking in merging the two state alchemist articles in one and the two homunculi lists in one. The information of those lists can be reduced and we could use grupal images to avoid non-free tags. Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 23:46, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: Enlighten me
User pages use a subpage structure (see Wikipedia:Subpages). The software only recognizes subpages as pages following a / in certain namespaces. (Which is why things like talk page archives are always /Archive_1, /Archive_2, etc.) Thus, your page wasn't in your user space, but was in fact floating in the user namespace. If you would like it restored, please let me know. Cheers. --MZMcBride (talk) 18:56, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Copyright concerns
Hello my old buddy Tom, how are you?
Tom, while making a thorough research and verifying the sources provided, I not only discovered that Major General Terry de la Mesa Allen was not a recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross, I also discovered that the article is not an "original" article as required by Wikipedia policy, but an article which infringes the copyrights of the National Timerwolf Association and Time Inc. It is a paste job using content from both sites which is in violation of copyright laws. See the following evidence and judge for yourself: Terry Allen ©1999 National Timberwolf Association andTerry Allen and His Men Copyright © 2008 Time Inc. All rights reserved. What do think?
I don't know who handles this type of thing, but was wondering if you could forward this concern to someone who knows how to handle this type of thing. Tony the Marine (talk) 03:21, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

USS Texas
Hey, I've had a Level 5 (MOS) copyedit performed on USS Texas (BB-35) after a request at WP:MHL, and there are some things that I could use your input on since you found and added some of the references. There is a list of things here on my talk page. I'll try to work out some of them, but I'd appreciate your help when you get a chance. Also, the change in the article is quite awesome, take a look at this. I'm also thinking about taking this article to A-Class and possibly FAC during the summer. -MBK004 02:43, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll take care of the lead re-write and the articles on the two people. As for the dead-link situation, I'll let you handle that, along with the uncertainty about some of the things you wrote. Also, I got yet another book on the Texas, but I haven't had a chance to read it yet, so I may have a cite for something that has a dead-link, but I'll have to check. -MBK004 02:24, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- Just in case you're wondering, I'm probably not going to be starting work on the things brought up via the copyedit until at least May 16th. I assume that you'll be done with school as well and will be getting into the groove again. -MBK004 03:32, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- Welcome back. Just in case you've forgotten about this, I'll give you a little nudge here now. I should be able to start with the re-write later this week. Some matters above my control (I'll discuss via an email later) mean that I am out of school at the moment. -MBK004 21:34, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up. I'll get started on the lead re-write either tonight or tomorrow. I'd review Montana for GA, but I'm involved. I guess I'll help out there if something comes up, I'm assuming that A-Class will come immediately after a successful GA listing? Also, my plans are to nominate Texas for A-Class after we finish these suggestions. -MBK004 22:53, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, Montana just passed GA without any extra suggestions. Good job!

Nice addition to the article. There is something you may know enough to fix, and it wouldn't take long. There are several different abbreviations in the article: NGFS, NGS, NSFS, and maybe more. I have the feeling they all refer to the same thing. If they do, they should be combined into one abbreviation. Maybe you could do it. Lou Sander (talk) 01:43, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi, Tom. I haven't spoken to you in a very long time. I've been very busy with my schoolwork and I am ready to graduate from my middle school in June. I am going to pass the 8th grade and I'm going to move up to the high school. How have you been, lately? I've read that you're not doing too well in school and I'm very sorry to hear that. I can get mad about bad things at times and my mom reminded me to just say it in my head. =) If you're able to be on Wikipedia, please contact me on my talk page. I haven't done a thing to my page. Bye!

I'll leave it to you handle the articlepages, though I strongly suggest that before you do any overhauling on the page - in particular with regard to adding material to the page - you take a look at boneyard located at User:Neil/gc. Proto's has already identified this article as being a cruft page, and it will in time have an afd filed asking for its deletion; when that time come the best defenses will be a page deviod about half the uneeded material there now and a page with citations. This isn't meant to be a meant post, nor is it meant to discuorage you from editting the page, but I see in you enthusaism for the page my former self, and since 50% of the C&C material I had originally created for wikipedia has been deleted I am trying not to lose anymore pages related to the series. TomStar81 (Talk) 12:52, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
- Don't worry, I'll be sourcing this article to the best of my abilities to prevent allegations of original research, unsourced/unverified statements and also to establish a higher measure of notability for it. With the proper rewrites, that shouldn't prove to be too much of an issue given C&C's own notability as a major video game franchise. As for the cruft part, we'll deal with that as the comments come in, and then handle it on a case-by-case basis as needed.
- I wish you a swift recovery, by the way. Kalamrir (talk) 12:58, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

GADA 601
Hi Tom. I have just added some cites and references to the GADA 601 article, as required by the assessment you made. Almost all of them are in Spanish, since the issue (praeter the Malvinas/Falklands war) is almost ignored by English sources. Curiously, one of the authors is an American historian, Robert Potash. I will be grateful If you take some time to consider a reassessment. Thank you again. DagosNavy, 23:56, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

- Oops, how could I forget the Ark Royal, I passed its GA review. But you're right, it will be a bit embarrassing that a British aircraft carrier will become Featured before one of ours, I have a checklist of all of our battleships and carriers in my sandbox, and I don't think any American aircraft carrier is above B-class.. I was planning to work on USS Lexington (CV-16) in the future after we finish with the Texas, but I guess that the Lady Lex won't be the first. -MBK004 08:11, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

- Agreed, the Lex will be next after the Texas. I guess I've smoked you in visiting museum ships, I've been to quite a few. Other than the Lexington, and Texas, I've been aboard USS Kidd (DD-661), USS Alabama (BB-60), USS Drum (SS-228), USS Constellation (1854), USCGC Taney (WHEC-37), USS Torsk (SS-423) and USS Cairo (1861). I've been very luck in that my family vacations usually happen to have a museum ship near-enough for a detour. -MBK004 08:28, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- The ships have provided quite a few amazing experiences, and I recommend any and all of them. It looks as though the Ledbury's nominator hasn't edited in over two months. You are correct in that we have lots to do. Keep working on the Iowa and Montana, and I'll start work on Texas soon. I'm having my wisdom teeth out next weekend, and I will be on vacation in three weeks, but will have internet access. I've got to go back to school in July to finish up my work from the spring. Montana class battleship
I saw your copyedit request at MILHIST logistics and I had a go at it. (I also saw that Roger Davies (talk · contribs) had done some work as well.) Some questions and/or comments that came up:
- Lead, 2nd para: should that really be "tonnages" or should it instead be "displacement"?
- Lead, 3rd para: I rephrased last sentence to show that it applied to the four completed Iowa-class ships. If you feel the "of six" needs to be back in there, please restore.
- History, 3rd para: Does the last sentence need a cite? Might be questioned at FAC.
- Design, 1st para: De-linked Yamato gun. If the gun was, in fact, rumored to be that exact, specific type of gun, a link is appropriate; otherwise, leave it for the Yamato article.
- Fate, 1st para: Tonnage? Again, should it be displacement?
- Fate, 2nd para: The "unfortunately" comment is a virtual repeat of a sentence in History, 4th para. Probably best to have it only once.
- Ships: All were authorized on the same date and all canceled on the same date, right? Maybe pull that data and place it at the top instead of repeating it five times
- Armor, 2nd para: Repeats info given previously. Just remind the reader of the discussion: "Because the US Navy previously limited battleships to fit the Panama Canal…"
- Aircraft, 1st para: Does this need a cite?
- Engineering plant: I'm not all that up on the details of ship mechanical systems, but would it really be "four sets of shafts" or just "four shafts"?
— Bellhalla (talk) 12:46, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- I've been trying to help out with some of the reference questions at the FAC page. You might try replacing some of those more questionable sources with links to navsource.com (Montana 's page). Per the discussion at my successful FAC for USS Orizaba (ID-1536), navsource can be considered a reliable source. I'd love to help out some more, but my next two days are swamped. Good luck. — Bellhalla (talk) 13:17, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Coordinators
Tom, I would like to suggest that the Wikipedia coordinators essay should be expanded and promoted to a must have for Wikipedia Projects status. I'm putting something together, as well as an idea that I had broached with others outside of the project, and I would like to take the whole thing to the Pump as a new policy proposal. Woud you be interested in me sending you a draft when its ready?--mrg3105 (comms) ♠♥♦♣ 09:03, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, will send.
- My basic suggestions will be that
- Regardless of Wikipedia philosophy, its central goal is to have a reference work online
- Reference works do not write themselves by chance
- In fact Wikipedia is a very large data warehouse with no structure other then the Projects
- The goal of every Project is its completion, as is that of Wikipedia
- In fact what the coordinators do in the Project is not project work, but operations work, i.e. the ongoing and repetitive maintenance of the subject area articles
- In fact the coordinators will never approach the completion of the project that is the Military History Project, and this is true for every Wikipedia Project. Ergo, Wikipedia will never be completed, but will in fact increasingly stagnate in the attempt to maintain an ever increasing number of non-diffused articles
- There is no project management in the Projects as such, that is there is no limited scope for completing them, but an ongoing quagmire to induct new editors, improve old articles, and resolve ongoing disputes of all sorts while struggling to produce quality output in the shape of FA articles. The ration of these does not even approach the requisite 20% of the whole to qualify for a project "stub", what project managers and pilots call "getting it off the ground"
- There is no hope of completing the Project because the subject area is not mapped, i.e. the scope is "all articles" to do wit military, but some articles are more important then others.
- The task forces are a good idea, but ultimately people write write they want to write, so what is the role of coordinators? In fact they are not coordinating project activity, but "standing at the conveyor belt" as it were. And at least MilHist Project has experienced and active coordinators. Many Projects do not, and many subject areas in Wikipedia do not have Projects.
- In fact project coordination is part of its management, that is an attempt to finish it on time
- There is no plan to finish the Project
- There is a problem with articles in that the process of creation, editing, assessment and completion (FA)is currently acting like a break rather then like an accelerator for the project. Largely this is because of 0quality control until the last phase of production. However, all production phases need to be influenced by QA. When I started writing I was going to create lots of stubs because I know that I can quickly convert them to starts from my own reference sources. But now I realise that many authors stop at stubs! I spend as much time referencing work of others as I do writing my own! Consequently I stopped making stubs because as far s I'm concerned a stub is just an expression of someone's POV. The overwhelming content of the Project is composed of stubs. So, the QA has to be introduced at every phase of the process, because at this rate of 9-5 rejection (stubs) no conceivable completion can be envisaged, and therefore Wikipedia will remain a work in progress forever, never even approaching the possibility of being called a reliable reference work
- The last phase is most important. There need to be a special kind of administrators introduced - redactors. An FA article has to be redacted and locked from editing unless a very god reason can be offered. A redactor is responsible for ensuring the article is complete and never needs to be edited again. It is the process of actually putting the "bricks" into the "structure" of Wikipedia that ae not going to fall apart due to vandalism or additional editing.
- That is the gist of it, but I will elaborate more in the proposal
- Please add if you think I'm wrong or missed something--mrg3105 (comms) ♠♥♦♣ 11:05, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Wikibreak
Well, I believe that I mentioned that my wisdom teeth were going to be pulled. That will happen in 9 hours, and I won't be active for about 12-36 hours afterwards (you'll see I've already placed the wikibreak templates on my userpage and talk page). Who knows, I may be editing a bunch once I'm done and lying in bed over the weekend, I don't know... But, I'd appreciate it if you not begin the inquisition until I return so I can co-nom you. Also, point those who may need my assistance to those who can in my absence, WP:HAU is a good place (I'm listed, but I've disabled my code there for the duration of this absence), along with the editors we know. -MBK004 04:16, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, the procedure is done. I've removed the break templates and am capable of doing most things (I'm not going to touch the narcotic painkiller). -MBK004 19:01, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Battle of Gunpowder river
Hi Tom. Someone has created this article, but I suspect that this requires a new category:Fictional battles of the American Civil War as it seems to be based on the book by William R. Forstchen and Newt Gingrich. I gave it a basic stub intro as it only had an infobox, and included that there was an actual battle during the French Indian war on one of the creeks. - Congrats on a hard fought battle that is leaving me questioning if the Texas will ever stand up to that kind of scrutiny. -MBK004 03:17, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
- Of course, I just keep thinking of when I'm going to have the time to put forth such an effort. I haven't even been able to get started on that list of things to do to the article, let alone T&A2008. RL is making a huge dent in my time here right now. -MBK004 03:25, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
- On another note, I just noticed this morning that the Texas has been translated into Polish: link. -MBK004 14:54, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Ebola
Hi, I'm fairly new to wikipedia and I was trying to add to the Ebola article (I accidentally wasn't logged in at the time), and you removed the bit I added. I just wondered why, so I can learn and become a better wikipedian. Thanks. Alphazulu (talk) 08:36, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Acid reflux
I suffer from this too, although not to the extent it sounds like you do. Some things that help me:
1) Avoid acidic, spicy, and greasy foods, especially right before bed. No kielbasa with ketchup right before turning in. More alkaline foods are a better choice. Here's a chart: [2].
2) Don't overeat. Breakfast should be your biggest meal, with something like oatmeal or cold cereal with fruit, not sausages and bacon, then have lighter meals later on, like sandwiches.
3) Sleep in a partially upright position. A reclining chair allows you to adjust the angle.
4) Take over-the-counter antacids, like Tums or Rolaids. The ones with calcium are better for you.
5) Don't drink soda. I drink water with some lemon juice for flavor (not enough lemon to make it significantly acidic). Milk (not skim) helps when you are having an attack.
6) Keep a food diary and note what you ate and drank right before a reflux attack, and avoid those in the future. StuRat (talk) 14:23, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Texas update
I've taken a look, and have a few points:
I believe that the Sand Pebbles link will definitely not rate as a reliable source at FAC, and I don't know how much effort we want to put into that?- Bellhalla has found a RS for that. -MBK004 21:57, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- I will tackle the re-write of the lead section as I have previously stated, probably next week.
- The reference and note set-up needs work, I'll leave that to you as much as possible since most of the references were your doing. I'll tackle what I've added as much as I can.
- I think we should aim for FAC during Thanksgiving holiday, and I don't foresee any real big problems come-up at A-class. To that end, we may want to think about skipping A-Class entirely and go straight to FAC when we're ready.
Also, I've let Roger know that I'm still on for your co-nom, and the page is watchlisted already so when it is created, I'll see it. -MBK004 21:04, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- I'd prefer to wait on an ACR until I re-write the lead since we already know that issue will come up. After that, I'll submit the nom. I'll probably finish my worklist at T&A and at SHIPS before I get on that, so next week for the re-write, and possibly an ACR in about two weeks. -MBK004 20:25, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Franklin kamikaze?
Your excellent article on the USS Wisconsin states that the devastating March 19, 1945 strike on the USS Franklin (CV-13) was a kamikaze attack, but that is the only place I can find that does so. Franklin was the target of 3 kamikaze the previous October, but the incapacitating attack appears to have been a "normal" one.
Note that I have not read any of the books referenced in your article, just followed the links at the bottom of the Franklin article.
All of the above notwithstanding, I think you've written an outstanding article on the Wisconsin. A model of that battleship was the first model my father ever built for me, almost four decades ago. I still have it, though it's covered in dust (those 40mm and 20mm gun mounts are impossible to dust!).
Keep up the great work. WeeWillieWiki (talk) 18:01, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

No, it was as much my fault as yours. I moved the page a split second after you did, which made the correct page have more than one item in its history, is why we can't move it back there now. I asked an admin to sort it out. J.delanoygabsadds 00:17, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
