RfA
Hi, if you want, you have the option of withdrawing your current RfA request. This might be in your best interest, as future opposes will probably reiterate the same items over and over. In terms of feedback, I don't see that you're going to get much more mileage out of this one. Let me know if you'd prefer to withdraw, or let the RfA run its course. Enigma message 20:54, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
Vianello, I am sorry to inform you that I have closed your RfA as unlikely to reach consensus: there was a 6:1 ratio against the request at the time of processing. However, don't be downhearted by this: I can assure you that your contributions are both highly welcome and valued—many editors have failed their first request for adminship, only to sail through later and become well-respected administrators.
You may wish to review the Guide to RfA before submitting future nominations, as well as well as here and here, both of which list the more highly-supported RfAs. Additionally, admin coaching is a useful aid for editors interested in becoming an administrator. If I can assist you at all, please do not hesitate to contact me. Kindest regards, Anthøny 21:44, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- I would like to say that your responses to the WP:SNOW closing of this RfA were a great example of why I believe you will make a fine admin sometime in the future. I don't do admin coaching, or mentoring, or any of that stuff (because I don't want to commit to something with consequences to other people if I develop some problem with it) but if there are any questions that occur to you on which you might wish to hear the opinion of one admin, then my talkpage is at your disposal. In the meantime, go the places where admins go and work out why they do what they do, work in article space to get a feel for what the encyclopedia is really all about, visit the policy pages and see how they relate to what you are learning, and ask questions of anyone you think might be able to help you. Let me know when you think you might re-apply. Cheers. LessHeard vanU (talk) 22:26, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
Clarification
When I made mention of CSD in your RfA, I had noticed a few errors of requesting speedy. Too many incorrectly placed speedy tags can hurt a future RfA. My apologies for not expounding while it was open, as I was offline. The other admin related areas most people look for is contributing to WP:AN and WP:ANI (they should be on your watchlist). You'd be responding to other editors questions or problems there, much like WP:HD. WP:AIV was a good start, WP:UAA would be good as well. Getting into conversations and expressing opinions on WT:RfA. And I'd also recommend reading over the WP:ARL. I hope this helps out a bit, and don't let your recent RfA discourage you from editing the pedia, or working on becoming an admin. Best regards and happy editing from SynergeticMaggot (talk) 22:40, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
By way of response to all of the above
All understandable, and thanks! I'm actually still glad I made a go of it. It may not have been the appropriate way to go about it, but this process has resulted in getting me a lot more info and insight, which I'll be putting to use. It won't be terribly soon, but 'til next time, RfA folks! - Vianello (talk) 23:35, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for the repeat submissions, I wasnt sure what was going on. I did not mean any disrespect by it, and it wont happen again. Is there anyway to get a screenshot? Im graduating this year and without knowing how strict wikipedia is, I promised him that I would put one up, but I'm sure he will understand. I just want to give him something to remember the page, is that possible? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nascarjake (talk • contribs) 02:00, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Real Madrid
I consider the 3rd paragraph to have no sources, to be started by a moron, and to be completely biased. This C. Ronaldo, Mexican takeover rubbish is really getting to people's heads, and I'm surprised you consider deleting BS vandalism, because there is even flimsier evidence for United's ascendancy to the financial pole position than there is for the claim that Real is the most powerful club. Please delete the garbage, if you can, or I can really bring up sources to disprove the useless drivel. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.189.246.43 (talk) 06:37, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Question
I hope you don't mind if I read your talk page archives? But I was wondering... I don't know if I want to become an admin. Therefore, I have two questions.
- Where can I go to get information about what exactly an admin's job is?
- If I want to try for this, how do I submit my request?
Ooops!!
I just realized that that your just another editor. You're not someone who has a job on wikipedia or nothin'. The reason you tagged my article was because it had no relevance to anything about history. For some reason, I didn't realize until now. I appologize. But hey!!! It was fun to talk with you about all of this uproar. If I have a question, I'm sure you know that you'll be one of the first people that I ask. Therefore I'm sure I will be dropping you a message in the future.Tm93 (talk) 08:18, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks
User:Tm93. Thank you for the info. I think that it's best that I just leave it off the website. I don't know why I thought that it was ok to post that on here. Actually last night, I was thinking to myself... I'd better keep it off. All that needs to happen is for someone to get upset and start a fight. Before you know it, Wikipedia has turned into an online religious fight. I thank you for deleting my article. I like Wikipedia and I would hate to see something happen to it all because there was a huge fight. ThanksTm93 (talk) 03:34, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Question
This is User: Tm93. Thank you for the response. I know I'm not allowed to put it on an article, but am I allowed to put it on my user page?Tm93 (talk) 03:21, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Once again its User:Tm93. Is it OK for me to post what I did earlier on Witness T, the one that was deleted? Could you please post your answer on my user talk? Tm93 (talk) 11:03, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi Vianello. Re: [1], I don't think, reading WP:PROD, that one should add a prod if someone has previously removed one. Outside of ignoring all rules and all that, I think taking it to AfD is the only show in town at that point. 86.44.28.52 (talk) 04:52, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry it took a long while to get back to you. I appreciate the warm welcome. Question
User:Tm93. How do I tell which user is and which user isn't an admin? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tm93 (talk • contribs) 01:37, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Question
User:Tm93. How do I tell if someone is an admin? Because any user could post a message on my talk page and ask me to remove the content just because they don't like it. However if it is an admin I would be more than happy to remove the content. I just don't want to have to remove content for no other reason than the fact that another user didn't like it. Write me back.Tm93 (talk) 04:45, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Sorry/Thanks
User:Tm93. I didn't mean to come across when I said that you weren't an admin. I was just so shocked that I hadn't realized that information earlier. I appreciate every time that you have answered my question.Tm93 (talk) 04:51, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Some Info
I don't know if you know this or not; so I'm going to tell you anyway. After I posted the message about how to tell if they were an admin or not, I actually found out the info from someone else. I can't remember their name, but I will look and tell in a minute. Anyways... I believe this is the correct, alphabatized (I think that's spelled right.) list. List
Tm93 (talk) 17:51, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- I went back and looked. RHaworth was the one who gave me a link; which led to a few other links. Including the one RHaworth gave me... I went through a total of 4 links. But hey, I found the list.
- It took a little practice, but I'm learning more about how to search and find what I'm looking for on wikipedia. Thanks to your's and about four admins.
Regarding spam accounts
Thank you for your report(s) to WP:UAA regarding inappropriate user names. When you encounter users who clearly are not interested in contributing to Wikipedia and are just using us as a free web host for an ad, instead of blanking the page it is better to add a notification such as {{db-spam}} so that an administrator can review it and delete the page. Just a friendly reminder - it's no big deal but works out a little better that way. Again, thanks for your efforts in reporting inappropriate names! Shereth 08:38, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you? I simply moved a page; I hardly believe that a "experimenting" notice was needed for my talk page. I have removed the template. Please only notify people when they create pages. --pbroks13talk? 08:54, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hah, its all good. I just realized you used TW. I moved the page (making me the only editor for the page), and you must've used TW right after I moved it, in turn, warning me. Every thing's fine now. Continue rving that vandalism! --pbroks13talk? 09:02, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I see it's been deleted. But it still says the name is "Protected". Can you please undo that so I can remake it? Underpus (talk) 06:06, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah... Go ahead and deleted it... This is the reason why I left Wikipedia anyway to join Metal-Archives... Not meaning to slander Wikipedia, but it's far better where I am. I guess I enjoy the underground, and Wikipedia does not. Hole in the wall 21:13, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Long Time, No Talk!!!
It's been a while since we've talked. O well. Any way I have a question. I have recently created a subpage entitled sandbox. I am using it as a sand box like it said I could in Wikipedia/User Page section 5 on table of contents. Click here to go there. Now it's not ready yet, but how do I have someone look at it to see if its approved to be put in the article?Tm93 (talk) 09:00, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
You will notice...
You will notice that your main user page has changed.Tm93 (talk) 09:12, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- What do yo mean when you say the info is "something that is yet to come"? I briefly read the article, and I didn't see anything in the future-tense. May be I'm wrong. I would just like to improve the article, could you help me out? I understand that you can't suggest how to say it, but could you tell me what you are thinking is in the future-tense? Here is the link to my sandbox.
- I noticed that you either have not given an email address on your mypreferences, or on your mypreference you have not checked the box that says "Enable e-mail from other users". Is there a specific reason or do you just not wish to receive email?Tm93 (talk) 05:33, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- Please don't feel like I'm stalking you, because I'm not. I was just curious.
- It's OK. Everyone is allowed a mess-up every now and then. If we weren't, I'd be screwed. My message below will have you answer my other question. (How do I state my importance of this Article? I'm not asking how to put it though.) But you will answer that in a new section on my talk page.
- Thank you, however for bringing up that "future tense" issue. It got me thinking... May be I should re-word it to say that the show made its debut... (instead of:) the show will make its debut... Therefore I appreciate your input. I really do appreciate all of your help.Tm93 (talk) 09:01, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
HELP!!!
Ok first of all can you give me your response to this message in a different section than of the ones that I have previously posted. (Hope that sentence made sense.) Anyways...
I tagged this page, Dominic Licavoli, for speedy deletion. The reason was because I didn't see the importance of this article about a real person. The creator contested my tag. Now the reason I am writing this information: I need to know the definition of the phrase, "This page may meet Wikipedia’s criteria for speedy deletion as an article about a real person that does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject." What does does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject mean? I have included the link so that you could see the page that I was talking about. I would like to resolve this matter with the User, so that I don't get into any trouble. Nor would I like this incident injure my chance at becoming an admin. If I can understand the meaning of that phrase, I might be able to resolve this matter the propper, wikipedian way.
Your input is much appreciated. Thank you so very much.Tm93 (talk) 07:42, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Admin Zedla declined the deletion so its no biggie now, but I would still like to know what that phrase means.Tm93 (talk) 17:20, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Thank You for the info. It is going to take some time to learn all of those taggs. I do have one question. You had said to test them out in my sandbox. Let's say I was practicing. It would show the tag just as if it were a template page. My question is will that notify an admin that something was tagged for deletion.Tm93 (talk) 18:36, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Sorry. I accidentally placed a tag on your page. I deleted it within 10 secs. I was trying to give an example of a template. I didn't mean to place an actual tag. Sorry.Tm93 (talk) 18:38, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Ok if it did create a link and an admin is alerted, will they delete the page, delete the template, or will they ignore it if I stated that I'm just practicing?Tm93 (talk) 18:46, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- I know that I nominated this article for deletion, Organizational diagnostics. It shows that I made a contribution on my contributions, but on the article's history page, I don't show up. What do you think has happened? Also a different user removed a deletion tag on their own. I thought that only admins were allowed to remove those tags. they can contest with that one template, but they are not allowed to remove the tag, are they? If not, were do I go to report them?Tm93 (talk) 21:38, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- Oh by the way here is the link to prove that I made a contrib. my contribs —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tm93 (talk • contribs) 21:40, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
If that's the case, plus for future reference, where do I report someone who has removed a tag a tag from the page that they created? Only admins are allowed to remove the tags. Tm93 (talk) 02:59, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Question
When is your wikipedian birthday/did you create your account?Tm93 (talk) 06:52, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

- I wanted it to wish you a happy wikipedian birthday.Tm93 (talk) 19:56, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- Also... Is February 10, 2008 your wikipedian birthday? I would think that "you" would be older than that. ("You" meaning your account.)
please read articles more carefully before tagging them for speedy deletion

The process of organizing would go so much faster if I could resize them. Drop me a line if you can't figure it out. I can just place the template, {{helpme}}, at the bottom of my page. I removed the speedy deletion tag from Mel Lawrenz. There were some claims of notability in the article (author of 8 books, pastor of one of 50-largest churches in US). If you feel those notability claims don't satisfactorily meet WP:N, feel free to prod the article or bring it to AfD. Karanacs (talk) 14:38, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Headline text
Hi, I am the webmaster at atoboldon.com and this article was referenced only by british tabloids to try to sell newspapers. There is no way to "prove" a negative from our side and this as I said before, was totally ignored by all but one british paper trying to make a story out of nothing. And then mentioned by another rag in the UK. It never became a story, and to include here an article that says "allegedly written" when there was nothing ever alleged against Mr Boldon is highly irresponsible.
I trust that you will understand why we have deleted this false reference. There is inherent danger when supposed media houses take something supposedly found online, unproven and purely speculative, and attempt to make it a fact or even alleged which means that there is some possible factual basis behind it. There was none, and anyone within reach of a lawsuit stayed far away for a reason. We will continue to delete this ridiculous reference which negatively impacts Ato's character based on innuendo and an unproven internet fabrication.
If someone wrote an email letter, signed your name to it and put it online and it entailed rape, it would not be at all fair for a media house to say you were alleged in a letter to have committed rape, would it? Based on what? We trust we will not have this concern again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tonylongman (talk • contribs) 06:48, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Prodigious
Hi Vianello,
I noticed that you reverted my edit on the prodigious redirect. I understand that the word "prodigious" refers to more than the child prodigy article covers, however no other articles listed on the prodigy disambiguation page could be called "prodigious" because, other than child prodigy, they are all proper names. For this reason, the only article to which "prodigious" could currently refer is child prodigy. Would you mind if I redirected prodigious back to child prodigy?

Talk:Dalits
Do you have any idea what is going on at Talk:Dalits? Quite unintentionally, I seem to have stepped into a hornet's nest...and one of the hornets is very angry!!! Question...are 58.160.80.210 and Arjuna316 the same editor? I feel he is archiving and omitting and hiding talk that is very relevant and informative to the article. His actions make me question, again, his motives. Had I not been at the computer I would have missed his laughable threats. I don't really want to get involved with another "wack-job" but I also don't like the thought of that "wack-job" making threats. I was not in the least bit contentious or competitive. I tried to find a higher, common ground. I guess I should just....Move On!...thanks for letting me purge.--Buster7 (talk) 06:21, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks (Bedankt!)...I will move on, but I'm sure I will keep an eye on this article and revisit it. I seriously doubt that he is a Dalit. Basically, what he has done is hide 4 quality references that give creedence to his ancestors sad state of life. But...somewhere I read not to get stuck on editors...work on the articles!--Buster7 (talk) 08:09, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

- Fair point, fair point. I'm somewhat of the stance that anything that gets them deeper into hot water is all to the good of getting them further along the inevitable track to a permanent ban, but that's really just more of an oily little impulse/temptation than something I really think is the right course of action. I've always been rather succeptible to this sort of thing, unfortunately. I'll abide by what you say. - Vianello (talk) 19:19, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up and trying to report him at WP:UAA. I've already messaged the admin who blocked User:DoctorFrench to see if he'd consider permanent block as a vandalism-only account and the fact he tried to impersonate me. Sadly the queue at WP:SSP is stil quite long, so it'll be a while yet before the sockpuppetry case is resolved. DrFrench (talk) 20:09, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- No worries. I think it was 23 June when I first suspected sockpuppetry. I was around last year when the original User:Davesmith33 account was blocked for persistent disruptive editing, the editing pattern just started to ring the alarm bells... DrFrench (talk) 20:45, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi
Hey. First of all, I've meant to tell you that I do like the wording of that barnstar better. I don't think that you need to change it. If a user (not an admin) has a problem with it they can talk to the creator/awarder... ME. If an admin does have a problem with it, try telling them that I don't have a problem with it. If they still want it changed, change it then notify me so that I may come and see the re-wording. Thanks.
Also. I know I can almost anyone, but I want to ask you. Can you describe what Twinkle does. I know it has something to do with making editing easier and it goes on you monobook. But what more is it? I am seeking your input. Talk to you later. If possible please write me back on my talk page. Thanks and Happy Editing Tm93 (TALK) 18:51, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

- Hey man thanks. I appreciate it. Earlier I couldn't have Twinkle because it wouldn't run in IE. Plus I didn't want to download firefox because it made me too confused. I recently download it because I heard that firefox was more secure. I thought, "What the Heck!. Now that I have firefox I might as well have Twinkle. Thank you so much. Please keep my page
Hey,
Can you please keep my page? It may not seem of importance, but if you were involved in this fandom, you would see why this page is needed. It will bring more people to wiki. Please keep it. Thank you! My page is the Accio-Potter page, and my username is Accio-Potterdotcom.:)
You must understand that this fandom is very interested in this site. Please understand. There are more articles like this one.
Well you are clearly not part of this fandom. If you only knew. why don't you clean up the other fan sites' wikis? I've done exactly as they have. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Accio-Potterdotcom (talk • contribs) 06:35, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

John Walson article
Hi, Vianello! I noticed you were active on this article and thought you might want to know I removed the following paragraph based on WP:BLP:
"To fund the project, Walson went door to door to find investors. He told everyone that this was the future of television, and if they invested $100.00, he would pay them back when it became successful. Cable TV took off and he & his family have yet to pay these people back. There were also other people who helped invent Cable TV from Mahanoy City, and they have yet to be recognized for their contributions. However, Service Electric steadfastly maintains that only Walson deserves that title."
The reference used does not mention the account about collecting and not returning money to investors. It also makes no mention of others from Mahanoy City who may have collaborated with Walson, nor does it address such a dispute. Since Walson's "family" is alive and still active in the company, an authoritative source would be required to support the details as related.
I'm not saying you had any responsibility for the paragraph, which may or may not be factual. I'm only forwarding you my reasons so you can let other editors or administrators with a connection to the article know. If they disagree, then they can revert it. Thanks. Kenshin Holstein Article
- The Empire of Somple has 3 internet sights (see the first paragraph of Empire of Somple. I have docuemntation of the Empire of Somple's history which proves that we did have a presence even if it was not an internet presence. I do have one question: When you talk about coverage what exactly do you mean? —Preceding unsigned comment added by KenshinHolstein (talk • contribs) 23:07, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
May I suggest that the next time KenshinHolstein adds a hangon tag to Empire of Somple that you go ahead and send it to wp:afd. By removing it over and over again you might ironically wind up violating wp:3rr.

re: WP:AADD
Nothing to worry about. It is already a very long and clumsy page and it's all to easy to overlook sections. Someday, we really ought to think about pruning or consolidating it a bit.
By the way, there might be a case for clarifying the section below. You had some good text in your addition - perhaps better than what is there now. Happy editing. Rossami (talk) 14:07, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
That was intentional, and the reason for that is I am trying to make a space on that IP address for the accounts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.73.113.104 (talk) 07:11, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

You tagged Gulf Coast Carnival Association for speedy deletion. I was able to find some references, so I added them to the article and removed the speedy. Sometimes an article that starts out weak can be salvaged and turned into a quite useful one. --Eastmain (talk) 04:26, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

- Talk about a bare-bones stub. I guess I expanded it by 100%. Maybe I should add a prod template in case the creator does not expand it. It got enough G-hits that sourcing, verifiability should not be a problem. But is it Notable?? I hate nominating at AFD and then getting shot down. Maybe I'll keep an eye on it. Who knows, it might be an FA some day. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 01:56, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

In Africa CSD
Hi! I think the speedy deletion tag for In Africa could have followed a more rationale approach. The nominator had barely created the page before the template was stuck on the page (all this in 2 minutes), and a robotic notice about notability was pasted on his talk page. While I agree that the article name is not appropriate as per policy, the procedure followed by you would perplex a newbie. Instead, you should have messaged him asking him what he was trying to do, and suggest an alternate page for his work as In Africa does not meet Wikipedia criteria, although the data is welcome. After this is done, the page could have been speedied. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 06:05, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well I disagree with some points so will break your response down into smaller elements.
- For one matter, nobody is ever forced to post a page before it is ready to stand on its own two legs. – Not always. This is Wikipedia, where you can edit, and edit, and improve. You don't need to produce a featured article-like quality at first attempt. The person might not be so used to the preview button. After finding that the syntax does not work, he might be fixing it when the notice was stuck on the page. I would also disagree with the assessment from a personal point of view. By your standards, This version might well be a criteria for deletion. But between that edit and the next (a full 30 minutes), I was busy testing out a section. The result is an article that may pass the FAC. I would have been extremely annoyed if someone has come across and put up a maintenance tag when I was editing. A two minute notice is very harsh. A talk page message might have worked instead, failing no response for an hour, you could have listed it for deletion.
- In my experience, far more often than not, a page that starts out a ramshackle and unfeasible mess tends to stay that way. – I'm really really disappointed by this remark. The beauty of Wikipedia is that it allows anyone to improve and expand on the article through open editing. That's why Wikipedia is not Britannica. 'Unfeasible mess' only requires a cleanup tag. As long as the article is notable, and meets other wikipedia criteria. For example, this one liner is now a featured article. =Nichalp «Talk»= 06:54, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Trying to be fair
I have been careful not to do original research. I have not come up with a new idea of gaffes. Reliable news sources have written gaffe articles, not just about one gaffe, but an article about the many gaffes of Obama or McCain.
Others can make this article more detailed.
I am not for or against either man. Writing only one of them is biased against the other man so I have written an article on both of them. They both need further work. They shouldn't be deleted because people like one man or the other. News sources have thought the issue big enough to write articles about gaffes. Oprahwasontv (talk) 02:30, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

You have my permission to remove the hang on tag, and speedy delete the Megan Hill article. But please don't comment on this permission i am giving on my talk page, as I am trying to show a young lady how things work at Wikipedia (as you probably figured out by reading the article. Sorry if I have inconvenienced you. WitchieAnna (talk) 03:41, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
May I take up a little bit more of your time?
I also created articles on Sheri Cohen and Ann O'Leary with a similar intent to the Megan Hill article. Both women are quite notable, but I did not provide enough citations for Sheri Cohen, and did not establish notability for Ann O'Leary (Ann O'Leary is a role model for Megan, and is also the widely published senior behavioral scientist in charge at the Atlanta Center for Disease Control). But i did not establish this in the article I wrote.
- Perhaps a notice to come back with citatinns and more information would be appropriate on my talk page. But if you don't havge time, don't worry about it.
- I actually expected this to happen sooner on both articles, and when it did not happen as quickly as I expected, I created the Megan Hill article to try to make the same point. If you have ever had a bright yong girl, you will understand.
- Again, sorry if I am wasting a bit of your time, but a speedy on these two, one for lack of citation, the other for failure to establish notablity, would be appropriate. Thanks again. WitchieAnna (talk) 03:53, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
