June 2022

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Nupur Sharma (politician). This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. I beg to differ. It is you who reverted me twice despite RS. You used a source not in the RS list. So, I would suggest that you reconsider your edits.

Instead you have demonstrated a lack of WP:CIVILITY by not WP:AGF and accusing me of "whitewashing" without evidence. This is indeed surprising given the amount of time you have been editing Wikipedia for. That word ("Islamophobe") is what was identified as "poor quality and unencyclopedic". On top of it, the source didn't support it. It was completely WP:SYNTH. No, you can't. As per WP:ONUS it is your job to establish consensus. If you reinstate without consensus, you would be edit warring. The policy doesn't apply because it can't be claimed as a fact as I have explained. In addition, I have provided evidence of scholars being shocked by Thapar's claim.

You are free to revert my post from your talk page, I have no concerns about it. But please be corrected that this page very much falls under WP:BLP because the article Murder of Kanhaiya Lal is about 2 living people and 1 recently dead man. All 3 come under WP:BLP. And of course the alert is also appropriate, not just because of that particular article.Note the two big boxes at the top of the page, one says "The Arbitration Committee has authorized uninvolved administrators to impose discretionary sanctions on users who edit pages related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, including this article." The other says "While the biographies of living persons policy does not apply directly to the subject of this article, it may contain material that relates to living persons, such as friends and family of persons no longer living, or living persons involved in the subject matter. Unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material about living persons must be removed immediately." Doug Weller talk 12:55, 3 July 2022 (UTC)

@Doug Weller, I have had ds/aware about India, Pakistan and Afghanistan on my talk page, so that alert wouldn't be necessary.

Regarding BLP, I acknowledge the alert on the article talk page. However, the BLP ds/alert is specific to WP:BLP based on the wording of the alert. If that article is part of WP:BLP, then the alert on the article talk page should be updated. Webberbrad007 (talk) 13:03, 3 July 2022 (UTC)

That's not necessary, and I knew you had the IPA alert. By the way, reverting an alert doesn't somehow cancel it. I will see what I can do about the wording, but the sanctions cover "any edit in any article with biographical content relating to living or recently deceased people or any edit relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles of any page in any namespace"[2] Doug Weller talk 13:17, 3 July 2022 (UTC)

At the risk of being anal, the wording in the DS(2014) housekeeping provisions links article with biographical content relating to living or recently deceased people to WP:BLP while the alert on the article talk page explicitly states WP:BLP does not apply.

I acknowledge the alert on the article talk page in its entirety including the part about unsourced and poorly sourced content. However, if the ds/alert has to be made applicable, I believe the wording of either the ds/alert or the alert on the article talk page needs to be updated. That is not existing content. Article is not even a week old. Someone added something controversial, Someone removed it and now the person adding it has only option left to discuss and make consensus (see WP:ONUS). there is no such option that if he adds it 3 times, it will be kept.
