Hi! I'm not sure if your trimming of this sample was intentional, but if it was you should add {{subst:furd}} to the file page and adjust the caption in the article. Adabow (talk) 07:41, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

She Wolf Nominated for GT
WikiRedactor! Have some news! After Prism passed She Wolf for GAC, I nominated the album for good topic. Here is the entry - Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates/She Wolf/archive1. Hopefully it passes! --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 18:37, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

- WR and Prism, it was not my intention at all to place any blame on you guys and I have extreme good faith in both of your edits and both of u as editors. However, just last year I had asked a GA review by an editor who's article I had reviewed and he had frowned on it badly saying I was "abusing the system" and all. Hence I thought that the quid pro quo is not allowed and fairly so it seems. There is another user for that matter who seems to be changing stuff that you both are trying to achieve. I left a note at GAN but you will see that I did not ever mention your name at all. Again, apologies if you think I was blaming both of you. —Indian:BIO · [ ChitChat ] 15:45, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Do what U Want
Hi WR, I have had to remove some of your changes to the above article for the following reasons.
- The remix is not an independently promoted single, ala Jennifer Lopez's "I'm Real" or "Ain't It Funny" or even "Pour It Up" by Rihanna which was actively promoted as a single in a multitude of radio formats.
- Having a different cover art does not signify its importance in face of WP:NFCC when its just an image from a performance, for which free image can easily be available. The same reason why we do not accept non-free images of living persons.
- The separate live performance is again a live performance of the whole song, which is not significantly different or promoted as such. I admit that such difference would have been essential in determining the status of the song.
Hence at present it seems like a just a single remix release through retailers for a song. Nothing much to deem it with an extra infobox and all. —Indian:BIO · [ ChitChat ] 08:58, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- @IndianBio: Thanks for giving me the heads-up. WikiRedactor (talk) 15:40, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Welcome to the 2014 WikiCup!
Hello WikiRedactor, and welcome to the 2014 WikiCup! Your submission page can be found here. The competition began on 1 January. There have been a few small changes from last year; the rules can be read in full at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring, and the page also includes a summary of changes. One important rule to remember is that only content on which you have completed significant work, and nominated, in 2014 is eligible for points in the competition- the judges will be checking! As ever, this year's competition includes some younger editors. If you are a younger editor, you are certainly welcome, but we have written an advice page at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Advice for younger editors for you. Please do take a look. Any questions should be directed to one of the judges, or left on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup. Signups will close at the end of January, and the first round will end on 26 February; the 64 highest scorers at that time will make it to round 2. Good luck! Re:Help with reducing audio sample
Hi there- you can reduce the size of a sample using Audacity, but the sample in No Love Allowed looks fine to me- 64kbps and 10% of the song/30 seconds (whichever is shorter) is the top end, and the sample there seems alright? Or am I missing something? J Milburn (talk) 22:34, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
@J Milburn: On my end, it says that the sample is 182 KB, although my computer always always seems to be messing this stuff up. And thank you for referring me to Audacity, this will definitely be helpful in the future! WikiRedactor (talk) 22:37, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
- Ah, you're looking at the wrong bit- the sample is 182 KB in size, but the quality of the song is listed under the play button- "(Ogg Vorbis sound file, length 25 s, 60 kbps)". J Milburn (talk) 22:40, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
- Ahahaha, of course I would miss that. Thanks so much for your time! WikiRedactor (talk) 22:42, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Would you review "Walking on Air (Katy Perry song)"? I'll review one of your GANs as well... prism △ 18:58, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- @Prism: Okay! Although after our conversation with IndianBio, I think this should be the last set of reviews we do for each other for a little bit, just so it's clear to other editors that we're not "favoring" each other's articles. But I will get started on Walking on Air shortly! WikiRedactor (talk) 22:56, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- But there's no problem, WikiRedactor... it was clearly decided that quid pro quo reviews are allowed. prism △ 18:32, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
- They do, however, give a wrong impression Prism. Users may start speculating that to avoid the possibility of your articles failing their nominations, you two started reviewing each others article. A fact we all know - people love ratting out people and they will do so without even checking if the reviews were indeed accurate, adequate, and nonbiased. Moreover, with the WikiCup going on, it can even become controversial, and I believe I don't need to explain why. I agree with WikiRedactor on the basis that this should be your last barter review deal. :) --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 10:12, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
Amazed
The audio just dropped, and it's nothing short of amazing. "Can't Remember to Forget You" is basically Shakira's message to all other singers to bow down before her. I'm euphoric right now, and I can't wait to get working on this article! --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 14:56, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
- @WonderBoy1998: I heard the audio this morning, and I love it! The album drops on March 25 here in America, and I'm very excited! WikiRedactor (talk) 20:08, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
Prism track listing
Hey WikiRedactor! How are you? Just to clarify why I fixed your edit on the Prism track listing. Max Martin or Katy Perry are not the real names of those personas, rather than that those are a production and stage name, thus the full name should be always included. However, in the case of Lukasz Gottwald (which is his real name), we use the whole name only once, and then just the surname. Thanks on your time. Cheers! — Tomíca(T2ME) 16:03, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Re: Shakira
I love the cover art!! It is so brilliantly postured and shot, yet feels so natural, and the colour scheme and quality is just amazing! And Shaki is looking bang on sexy, and you can really see Milan's resemblance to his mommy through this cover. As for the title, I think all the pop divas have secretly made an agreement to release self-titled albums nowadays. I really like how it is printed Shakira.. Makes it more bold and definitive. Hopefully Shakira manages to actually represent Shakira and escapes an EDM disaster like Britney Jean and performs well. I'm a little concerned regarding "Can't Remember to Forget You"'s European chart entries. I'm excited for 2014's music releases, because two of my favourite singers' albums are coming out - Shaki's Shakira and Kylie's Kiss Me Once!!! --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 18:07, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- @WonderBoy1998: I wouldn't be too concerned about the charts just yet; I was thinking the same thing here in the U.S. until I read on Billboard that it became her highest debut on the Hot 100, so it seems like it's starting off well. Once the radio stations start picking it up and the music video is out, I can certainly see it charting in/near the top ten! (Fingers crossed for her first number-one album, too!) I don't listen to much of Kylie, but I'm looking forward to Nicki Minaj's new record that she's been teasing and whatever Miley has in store, and J. Lo too! WikiRedactor (talk) 18:11, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- I really hope CRTFY cracks the top ten because Shaki's hasn't had a single top ten since her 2006 chart-topper "Hips Don't Lie". It's a great song (explosive chorus) and it certainly hasn't racked up all mixed reviews as the current WP page mentions. I think it should be "favourable to mixed", but I've decided not to touch the article until the hype drops down and the music video is released blah blah. But I must admit that the song could have been better off with a little more seconds. --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 18:17, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- @WonderBoy1998: I was thinking about just leaving these articles be for a while, but I'm concerned that they might get too messy and take way longer to complete. What I was planning on was taking care of some background information that won't really change much even as the song charts (background, production, composition, etc.) just so we have a starting point somewhere. Then, since the critical reception, commercial performance, and music video sections are sure to be changing in the coming days/weeks, we can focus on just those bits without worrying as much about the others. I've been trying that out over on the parent article, just so it's an "organized mess" for a while until the initial hype dies down, if you know what I mean. WikiRedactor (talk) 18:24, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- I had already taken care of the Background, and Release and artwork sections and redone them. By god's grace the IPs and erratic users have not spoiled that part of the article after I retouched it, and hopefully it remains that way. I was thinking of working on the rest of the sections later on, just like you have --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 18:39, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

Moving portals
Hello there. Recently you moved Portal:Beyoncé Knowles to Portal:Beyoncé, without moving all of the portal's subpages to the new name. Portals rely on complex, relatively fragile templates, and will break if this is done. For example, after the move Portal:Beyoncé was calling for the page Portal:Beyoncé/Selected song/5, which was blank, as the content itself was still at Portal:Beyoncé Knowles/Selected song/5. In the future, please contact an admin to have all of the subpages moved along with the main page of the portal. I have asked an admin to do it for you already this time. WikiCup 2014 January newsletter
The 2014 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with, at time of writing, 138 participants. The is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2010. If you are yet to join the competition, don't worry- the judges have agreed to keep the signups open for a few more days. By a wide margin, our current leader is newcomer Godot13 (submissions), whose set of 14 featured pictures, the first FPs of the competition, was worth 490 points. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:
- 12george1 (submissions) and TropicalAnalystwx13 (submissions) were the first people to score, for the good article Tropical Storm Bret (1981) and its good article review respectively. 12george1 was also the first person to score in 2012 and 2013.
- Sven Manguard (submissions) scored the first ITN points for 2014 North American polar vortex.
- WonderBoy1998 (submissions) scored points for an early good topic, finishing off Wikipedia:Featured topics/She Wolf.
- TheAustinMan (submissions) scored the first bonus points of the competition, for his work on Typhoon Vera.
- Igordebraga (submissions) has scored the highest number of bonus points for a single article, for the high-importance Jurassic Park (film).
Featured articles, featured lists, featured topics and featured portals are yet to play a part in the competition. The judges have removed a number of submissions which were deemed ineligible. Typically, we aim to see work on a project, followed by a nomination, followed by promotion, this year. We apologise for any disappointment caused by our strict enforcement this year; we're aiming to keep the competition as fair as possible.
Wikipedians interested in friendly competition may be interested to take part in The Core Contest; unlike the WikiCup, The Core Contest is not about audited content, but, like the WikiCup, it is about article improvement; specifically, The Core Contest is about contribution to some of Wikipedia's most important article. Of course, any work done for The Core Contest, if it leads to a DYK, GA or FA, can earn WikiCup points.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Re: Shakira!
So the closeup-Shakira-reclining-with-guitar cover is for the Spanish version? I just throught it was a promo pic. Anyway, I think Empire is amazing (obviously what else did you expect from me). It's radically different from CRTFY, taking a more ballad-like approach. I think Shakira is doing a great job of keeping up the hype surrounding her album by releasing very different songs. I can't really predict what the main sound for the album would be. Hopefully, Shakira doesn't do too many styles that the album sounds too "all over the place" and scattered. Like in Sale el Sol, she did so many styles, but they all flowed together well. Also, I am very pissed to read in various articles that "CRTFY wasn't the hit we were expecting blah blah" because it's like these sites dismiss a song altogether if a song doesn't crack the top ten in the US. I am been following the song's chart performance very closely, and actually it's become a really consistent performer in Europe, even more than She Wolf and Loca. It hasn't attained many top 3 positions, but actually has cracked more top tens that the She Wolf and Loca in more places. So I am very happy with its chart performance. And it also should be known that She Wolf too didn't crack the top ten, but was platinum nonetheless. Also thanks for reviewing Aphrodite and passing it!
P.s- Laundry Service got an instant GA pass from a really good reviewer. Should I nominate it for FA after "Spinning Around" is done? --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 14:15, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
- @WonderBoy1998: It would appear so, since that's what iTunes in Spain is using for the pre-order. I feel like she might dip into a little bit of country music if the Blake Shelton collaboration is any indication (or at least for that one track, since the rest of Xtina's Lotus was very electropop except for "Just a Fool".) I don't know if Shakira's planning for any full Spanish album like how She Wolf and Sale el Sol were released about a year apart, but I still hope that she has that traditional Latin element in there because my music library has had a void in that department since 2010! And I would certainly nominate Laundry Service for FA after "Spinning Around" closes, the work you've done on that article is fantastic! WikiRedactor (talk) 21:00, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for that compliment! As for Shakira. one can expect almost anything from her! Also turns out that the Indian iTunes also uses that cover as the preorder cover, so maybe that's the international cover. I'm also pining for that Latin flavour, which quite honestly was missing a bit on "Empire". I really had a good laugh when I saw a song was entitled "Dare (La La La)". I just keep my fingers crossed that the album doesn't have any of that useless stupid EDM crap. I also hope she does something Bollywood on this album. Last time she touched Indian music it was "Gypsy", but that was more on the classical Indian side, and I really think a Filmi song would be great and innovative. Something African would also be nice, and I was positively surprised by CRTFY. That track for me is easily 9/10. So sad that some sites throw it around as a lukewarm single. Also I loved the response Shaki gave to that silly politician --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 14:40, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
- @WonderBoy1998: That's probably the case with the artwork; if you take a look at the guitar on the Target-exclusive version, it looks like whoever photoshopped the guitar red to match the store missed a huge section of it by the strings, and it kills me every time I see it. And if I'm not mistaken, isn't there the song "Dare (La La La)" and another track just called "La La La"? I found that to be a little bit strange! I actually had not heard about that politician story until you mentioned it; I looked it up just a moment ago and thought that her response was spot-on! Hi WikiRedactor- am I right in believing that this is your first time in the WikiCup? I couldn't see you on any previous competition's page, but you're off to a flying start! J Milburn (talk) 20:16, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 February newsletter
And so ends the most competitive first round we have ever seen, with 38 points required to qualify for round 2. Last year, 19 points secured a place; before that, 11 (2012) or 8 (2011) were enough. This is both a blessing and a curse. While it shows the vigourous good health of the competition, it also means that we have already lost many worthy competitors. Our top three scorers were:
- Godot13 (submissions), a WikiCup newcomer whose high-quality scans of rare banknotes represent an unusual, interesting and valuable contribution to Wikipedia. Most of Godot's points this round have come from a large set of pictures used in Treasury Note (1890–91).
- Adam Cuerden (submissions), a WikiCup veteran and a finalist last year, Adam is also a featured picture specialist, focusing on the restoration of historical images. This month's promotions have included a carefully restored set of artist William Russell Flint's work.
- WikiRedactor (submissions), another WikiCup newcomer. WikiRedactor has claimed points for good article reviews and good articles relating to pop music, many of which were awarded bonus points. Articles include Sky Ferreira, Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus and "Wrecking Ball" (Miley Cyrus song).
Other competitors of note include:
- Hahc21 (submissions), who helped take Thirty Flights of Loving through good article candidates and featured article candidates, claiming the first first featured article of the competition.
- Prism (submissions), who claimed the first featured list of the competition with Natalia Kills discography.
- Cwmhiraeth (submissions), who takes the title of the contributor awarded the highest bonus point multiplier (resulting in the highest scoring article) of the competition so far. Her high-importance salamander, now a good article, scored 108 points.
After such a competitive first round, expect the second round to also be fiercely fought. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 1 but before the start of round 2 can be claimed in round 2, but please do not update your submission page until March (UTC). Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally.
Good luck! Help
Hi WikiRedactor, could you help me with something? I need you to just describe what Cher is wearing in this video and essentially what she is doing in the stage while performing that particular song. My computer is blocking each time I open a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auGA7QBiFx8 If you can't do it, just tell me :) Prism △ 17:10, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- @Prism: Cher enters the stage wearing a shiny silver wig with a matching shirt-and-pants set, which looks like it has fringe on the sleeves and pant legs. Cher herself is not dancing so much as she is pacing around the stage, although her backup dancers are dressed in disco-style clothing and have a fairly more involved choreography. Her background singers are dressed in more conservative black shirts and pants. If there's anything else you need, let me know! WikiRedactor (talk) 17:38, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you, thank you so much! You're amazing, haha. Prism △ 17:40, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- @Prism: No problem! My guess is that you're working on the article for that song? WikiRedactor (talk) 17:43, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- Well, how did you guess? Haha, it's true, I'm working on it because Sophie Ellis-Bextor has covered it and I am a fan of hers. Not so much of Cher, though. If you want to see how it is evolving, here it is :) Prism △ 17:47, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- @Prism: Looks good so far! Hahahaha I think I'm just going to keep going with my Miley articles and get those up to GA, and then maybe I'll move onto more of Sky Ferreira's stuff. WikiRedactor (talk) 17:57, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- I still haven't forgotten about what we talked about, we should work on Night Time, My Time! :) Prism △ 17:59, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- @Prism: I was thinking about that the other day! I started on that a little bit and then I got sidetracked by God knows what, but perhaps after you've wrapped up your Cher article we can both work on Sky's album? WikiRedactor (talk) 18:09, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- Sure, I'll let you know when I can start. Prism △ 18:14, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll be ready for you whenever you are! WikiRedactor (talk) 18:15, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- I have just finished the article (Take Me Home (Cher song))! We can start working now. :) Prism △ 22:09, 3 March 2014 (UTC).
- By the way, it's been a while since we have done anything like it, so how about we do a review for review deal again? I can review Drive or 4x4, whatever you want. I wish we could do this more but some daft users just don't see it is all fair and thorough. Prism △ 14:52, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
- @Prism: In regards to Sky, how would you like to divvy up the article? Do you have any sections that you would like to work on in particular? And in regards to the reviews, that sounds fine to me! All of the reviews are out in the open, so anyone that may question the honesty of our reviews will see how in-depth we are! WikiRedactor (talk) 23:34, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
- If it's not asking too much, I'd like to work a bit more on Composition and background sections. However, the sections that need the most work are Critical reception and Singles. I think you should take a look at them because they come from my sandbox version which I posted in the article (back in October) and they're still a bit poor. By the way, thanks for accepting the deal, I'll review one of your "Miley's" haha. :) Prism △ 23:55, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
- @Prism: I'm glad you said that, because I was actually hoping that I could focus on the critical/commercial performances. WikiRedactor (talk) 21:04, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

Here I am again! Haha. Could you please leave some comments on Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of songs recorded by Sophie Ellis-Bextor/archive1? I worked really hard on it and I was hoping it would get some recognition. Thank you! P.S.: I am going to start working on Night Time, My Time later today. Prism △ 17:42, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

in the spirit of Wikipedia
Thank you for quality articles in collaboration on singers and albums such as Demi Lovato and Fijación Oral, Vol. 1, and for reviews deserving "nothing's more in the spirit of Wikipedia" (than pitching in on a GA review ...), - you are an awesome Wikipedian!
Hey WikiRedactor, just wanted to share the good news with you for Jake's filmography which is a FL now ^_^. I hope your Miley list becomes one very very soon :D. DYK for Drive (Miley Cyrus song)
On 16 March 2014, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Drive (Miley Cyrus song), which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that "Drive" by Miley Cyrus was noted by a reviewer for its "wobbling beat"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Drive (Miley Cyrus song). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Real music is here
Hey! I just took a full listen of Shakira. All I can say is, that this album is the return of real music. It is so immensely organic, tropical, reggae, ecstatic, enjoyable, smooth and what not. It is easily perfect. It's like a more suave and stylish version of Oral Fixation Vol 2 - plenty of acoustic guitars and lots of quirky lyrics ("I can get lost climbing on your legs that never end"). I am absolutely ravished by its beauty. I hope this album is a critical and commercial success. It deserves it all --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 19:56, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- @WonderBoy1998: Funny you mention that, because I was listening to the Facebook preview she posted and I was impressed! Where did you hear the full album? I'd love to take a full listen before I head to the store on Tuesday! WikiRedactor (talk) 20:38, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- There's this great side Musicmp3.ru, which somehow has the album early. Although do you want to spoil the surprise? --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 07:31, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
- @WonderBoy1998: Oh I wasn't sure if it was an official streaming like iTunes Radio, but if it isn't then I'll hold off until it's officially out in the U.S.! WikiRedactor (talk) 02:28, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- Haha, but I can assure you that it's 100% authentic material :P And actually I realised why the site had the album because it had already been released in Germany, and this site uploads any album that's been released in any country. --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 07:32, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hey guys, sorry for being a lurker, but I'm really excited to listen to Shakira.. I love her discography except for She Wolf, so I hope it's better than that. :) Prism △ 11:37, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- @Prism: No worries, the more the merrier! I have big expectations for this record! And @WonderBoy1998: I couldn't help but listen to "Dare" a little early and I have to say that it would have been a much better lead single choice than "Can't Remember to Forget You"! WikiRedactor (talk) 22:41, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- Oh no... am I the only one that thinks that Dare (La La La) is generic and has no rhythm in its verses? I only like the 'la, la, la' part which is constantly airing in an Activia ad here in Portugal. :D Prism △ 22:53, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

- @Prism: I know that dance music just by nature is kind of generic, but I generally enjoy a lot of dance songs and I like that "Dare" still has a worldly flavor to it. I noticed that the verses have an "alternative" flow, I'll say, but I think it's just an acquired taste, if you will; after a few listens I bet you'll get into it! WikiRedactor (talk) 22:56, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- Fortunately Dare manages to differ from most of the club bangers that pollute the music scene. Although I find the title very unusual, since it actually is "Dare (La La La)". The rest of the record is so acoustic and natural, no wonder there's a guitar on the cover. One of my friends has suggested that Shakira is secretly an acoustic guitar. Lol. The only one misstep on the album is her duet with Blake Shelton, "Medicine". -- WonderBoy1998 (talk) 03:57, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- @WonderBoy1998 and Prism: Just went to Target and picked up my copy of the album! Too bad all of the guitars that they recolored red for the Target exclusive were horribly done. WikiRedactor (talk) 21:07, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 March newsletter
A quick update as we are half way through round two of this year's competition. WikiCup newcomer Godot13 (submissions) (Pool E) leads, having produced a massive set of featured pictures for Silver certificate (United States), an article also brought to featured list status. Former finalist Adam Cuerden (submissions) (Pool G) is in second, which he owes mostly to his work with historical images, including a number of images from Urania's Mirror, an article also brought to good status. 2010 champion (Pool C) is third overall, thanks to contributions relating to naval history, including the newly featured Japanese battleship Nagato. Cliftonian (submissions), who currently leads Pool A and is sixth overall, takes the title for the highest scoring individual article of the competition so far, with the top importance featured article Ian Smith.
With 26 people having already scored over 100 points, it is likely that well over 100 points will be needed to secure a place in round 3. Recent years have required 123 (2013), 65 (2012), 41 (2011) and 100 (2010). Remember that only 64 will progress to round 3 at the end of April. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page; if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally. How awesome is that?
Woah, I just checked the PROMUSICAE site. Shakira has debuted at number one in Spain with a non-single track ("Boig Per Tu")! How awesome is that? Guess the controversy surrounding the song has boosted its sales. As for the album, it's performing pretty well globally. I am very happy! --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 12:10, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
- @WonderBoy1998: That's great news! I'm so happy that Shakira passed Laundry Service as her highest-peaking album in the United States, I'm aiming for the top next time around! WikiRedactor (talk) 18:03, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

- @WonderBoy1998: I can get past that since the chart position was good, although I do wish the sales were a little bit higher. WikiRedactor (talk)

Your GA nomination of You Know What You Did
Hi! Congrats on the new GA. I've actually created a new category for The Hills. Do you think The City should be moved to that category? -- Zanimum (talk) 23:15, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
- @Zanimum: Thank you for your review, I appreciate it! I would suggest leaving The City as a separate category, since Whitney Port is pretty much the only thing that both shows have in common. WikiRedactor (talk) 19:20, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
A possible FA
Hello WikiRedactor,
I saw you got Demi Lovato to GA, and thought maybe you could help get this to FA. I've requested a peer review here, and if you could help find someone willing to review it (not either of one of ourselves, obviously :P) I'd be quite grateful. My goal is to have it as "Today's featured article" for her 22nd birthday on August 20th.

And it has a fresh flavor of Sky Ferreira to it! I've finished work on "You're Not the One" and GAN'd it as well. Would you review it? Hope I can get to improve it a lot so that we can make a GT out of NT, MT. prism△ 20:59, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
DYK for Adore You

You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. WikiCup 2014 April newsletter
Round 3 of the 2014 WikiCup has just begun; 32 competitors remain. Pool G's Adam Cuerden (submissions) was Round 2's highest scorer, with a large number of featured picture credits. In March/April, he restored star charts from Urania's Mirror, lithographs of various warships (such as SMS Gefion) and assorted other historical media. Second overall was Pool E's Godot13 (submissions), whose featured list Silver certificate (United States) contains dozens of scans of banknotes recently promoted to featured picture status. Third was Pool G's ChrisGualtieri (submissions) who has produced a large number of good articles, many, including Falkner Island, on Connecticut-related topics. Other successful participants included Cliftonian (submissions), who saw three articles (including the top-importance Ian Smith) through featured article candidacies, and Caponer (submissions), who saw three lists (including the beautifully-illustrated list of plantations in West Virginia) through featured list candidacies. High-importance good articles promoted this round include narwhal from Reid, iain james (submissions), tiger from Cwmhiraeth (submissions) and The Lion King from Igordebraga (submissions). We also saw our first featured topic points of the competition, awarded to Czar (submissions) and Red Phoenix (submissions) for their work on the Sega Genesis topic. No points have been claimed so far for good topics or featured portals.
192 was our lowest qualifying score, again showing that this WikiCup is the most competitive ever. In previous years, 123 (2013), 65 (2012), 41 (2011) or 100 (2010) secured a place in Round 3. Pool H was the strongest performer, with all but one of its members advancing, while only the two highest scorers in Pools G and F advanced. At the end of June, 16 users will advance into the semi-finals. Good luck! Slayer samples
Hi WikiRedactor, it's me again. I remember you have told me that you were figuring out how to operate with Audacity, and coincidentally, I've noticed that the majority of Category:Slayer audio samples needs lowering the audio quality. Nothing compulsory though, just a friendly note. Happy editing!--Вик Ретлхед (talk) 13:57, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

"Pills N Potions" (Nicki Minaj Single)
Hi, i was just curious as to whether you were going to make an article on Nicki Minaj's new lead single, "Pills N Potions". I only ask as I have seen that you have created previous articles for Nicki Minaj songs and thought you did them well. If you do decide to create it, let me know if you would like any assistance finding sources exc.
Regards, KaneZolanski (talk) 13:05, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
- @KaneZolanski: Sorry for the late response; I see that an article for "Pills N Potions" has been created already, and I am glad to help you however you need me to to get the article going! WikiRedactor (talk) 21:20, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for responding. Yes the article has been created, I'm currently trying to get the article to a cohernet stage, as it has just been released, new information is being added hourly. You have a great record of getting single articles to a state of professionalism, so any help you could possibly give to the article would be welcomed, thanks again. Hi, I am currently in the nomination process of getting Nicki Minaj videography up to featured list status. I was wondering whether you could take a look and possibly leave your thoughts/opposition/support for the nomination and leave any suggestions you may have to improve it. Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to List of songs recorded by Marina and the Diamonds may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

I must thank you for nominating me as the Editor of the Week! It is very heartwarming when someone recognises and appreciates your work! I've been inactive lately because my IGCSE board examinations are going about so this was a pleasant surprise! My last exam is tomorrow, after which I'm going to make sure I comment on your Electra Heart nomination. The Laundry Service nomination sadly failed because I was too caught up in the exam prep that it had to be closed due to lack of consensus I believe (I didn't invite anyone to comment lol). Thank you for being the best and most helpful editor around! --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 05:38, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

Sample reduction
Hey hey. According to User:Adabow, the samples for Work (Iggy Azalea song) and Bounce (Iggy Azalea song) are too long. I'm not familiar as to how long they should be? Could you maybe do a shorter replacement for them, pretty please? Especially, "Work" which currently under GAR! Thanks in advance mate! —CoolMarc 00:11, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Coolmarc: As it turns out, samples are supposed to be 10% of the original track length or thirty seconds, whichever is shorter. I've taken care of the Iggy samples, sorry for the trouble! WikiRedactor (talk) 20:44, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:BornToDieTheParadiseEditionCover.png
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on File:BornToDieTheParadiseEditionCover.png, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Stefan2 (talk) 17:24, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject Pop music
Hello WikiRedactor! Something's been on the back of my mind for a few years. I notice we have a WikiProject for Rock, Hip-hop, jazz, and whatnot. But I noticed we don't have a WikiProject for Pop music in general. I've been thinking about there should be a WikiProject Pop music as an umbrella for all pop music-related articles. I'm telling you this because you seem to have a good job of starting successful Wikiprojects. What do you think? Erick (talk) 20:48, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: I think that's a great idea! There are so many genres that have WikiProjects dedicated to them as you pointed out, and I'm surprised that pop music has been neglected for so long. WikiRedactor (talk) 22:08, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah and apparently it was proposed before by another user and failed, but I think we can do it since we know active users who contribute to pop music by inviting them to the proposal. I guess I'll start it with right away. Erick (talk) 22:16, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: Wow, I'm surprised that it even failed the first time around. We're connected to a reliable and hard-working group of editors that might be interested in joining the project, you should definitely carry through with the proposal! WikiRedactor (talk) 22:19, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
- Alrighty then, here's the proposal. Let's start the invitations. Erick (talk) 22:46, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
- Good news! The Pop music project got enough support to be opened! Erick (talk) 18:31, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: Congratulations! I'm happy that your proposal is coming to action! WikiRedactor (talk) 19:34, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- I know right? It makes me very happy! I just a small favor to ask. Could you comment on the project talk page for to approve on the bot request? It's a new requirement for bot requests to get a-ok from the members. Erick (talk) 19:38, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: I just left a comment under that section, thanks for telling me about it! WikiRedactor (talk) 19:51, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

Just a quick note to congratulate you on the promotion of Electra Heart to FA status recently. If you would like to see this (or any other FA) appear as "Today's featured article" soon (either on a particular date or on any available date), please nominate it at the requests page. If you'd like to see an FA appear on a particular date in the next year or so, please add it to the "pending" list. In the absence of a request, the article may end up being picked at any time (although with about 1,294 articles waiting their turn at present, there's no telling how long – or short! – the wait might be). If you'd got any TFA-related questions or problems, please let me know. BencherliteTalk 13:35, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 June newsletter
After an extremely close race, Round 3 is over. 244 points secured a place in Round 4, which is comparable to previous years- 321 was required in 2013, while 243 points were needed in 2012. Pool C's Godot13 (submissions) was the round's highest scorer, mostly due to a 32 featured pictures, including both scans and photographs. Also from Pool C, Casliber (submissions) finished second overall, claiming three featured articles, including the high-importance Grus (constellation). Third place was Pool B's , whose contributions included featured articles Russian battleship Poltava (1894) and Russian battleship Peresvet. Pool C saw the highest number of participants advance, with six out of eight making it to the next round.
The round saw this year's first featured portal, with Sven Manguard (submissions) taking Portal:Literature to featured status. The round also saw the first good topic points, thanks to 12george1 (submissions) and the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season. This means that all content types have been claimed this year. Other contributions of note this round include a featured topic on Maya Angelou's autobiographies from Figureskatingfan (submissions), a good article on the noted Czech footballer Tomáš Rosický from Cloudz679 (submissions) and a now-featured video game screenshot, freely released due to the efforts of Sven Manguard (submissions).
The judges would like to remind participants to update submission pages promptly. This means that content can be checked, and allows those following the competition (including those participating) to keep track of scores effectively. This round has seen discussion about various aspects of the WikiCup's rules and procedures. Those interested in the competition can be assured that formal discussions about how next year's competition will work will be opened shortly, and all are welcome to voice their views then. Good luck!
