Sorry, but looking at the article you were creating, I don't really think we can use it because of our notability guideline. The trigger that set off the alarm was the word "poopy" near the end, however, not the content of the rest of the article. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 14:03, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

I don't actually see anything in the edit filter log for that article. Your username shows a couple of other tags on other articles, but those are just notices that someone is creating an article about a movie, and isn't meant to be a sign of "bad" behavior. Thanks for reporting here nonetheless; every bit helps. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 14:05, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

It was because you wrote "YouTube Poop" in the article, which trips a filter that watches for the word "poop". I see you've managed to get the article up without YouTube Poop in it, though it has been nominated for deletion as being possibly non-notable. Also, I've added an exception for "youtube poop" now, as it seems to be tripping the filter quite a lot and is unlikely to be used in a vandal's edit. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 04:25, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

It looks to me like you made a mistake in your edit and accidentally removed some text that you didn't mean to. For example, you removed the links to the versions of the article on other wikis such as de:Split Brain. So in this case it would not be a false positive. I'll go ahead and restore those links and leave the rest of your edit unchanged. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 02:38, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

- Do you have the text saved? If you create the article again without the word "Poopsie" (just leave that line blank) it should be okay. The only reason I'm reluctant to create the article myself is that if I did I'd be considered the creator of the article and all notices about it would go to me instead of you. Note also that this particular filter only triggers on users who aren't autoconfirmed, so once your account is 4 days old and has 10 edits or more, you won't have to worry about it anymore. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 00:57, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

- It's because the edit contained the word "pooping". If you removed that word it would go through. I don't think your edit is a good idea, however, because Wikipedia articles aren't generally meant to contain suggestions for things for people to put there. - I simply tried to add ":Deleted it, as it was clearly vandalism. ~~~~" after actually having deleted the "Wikipedophile" entry from Wikipedia talk:Glossary. Since the edit went through when I cleared the section name in the edit summary, I gather the filter triggered on "Wikipedophile" because it was the section name auto-filled in the edit summary. Can filters be made smart enough to not trigger on the auto-filled section name of the edit summary?
- Date and time
- 07:12, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

- It does not make sense to add such an exception because section names containing "Wikipedophile" are rare (this was probably the only one). Ruslik_Zero 13:47, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, it is possible to make it not trigger on edit summaries, but I think this filter was designed specifically for that purpose, because some vandals realize that it's more difficult for an administrator to hide an edit summary than to hide something else, and so they use their edit summaries to vandalize. This filter is not publically accessible, so I can't read it, but I gather it was designed mainly to stop people from writing things such as "[editor name] is a pedophile" (and this would include people innocently replying in a section name with that title). -- Soap Talk/Contributions 13:59, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure why that is. I'll let the people who manage the filters know about this; in the meantime all I can say is that I recommend you register an account so you won't have to deal with captchas and won't have to deal with most of the edit filters either. Also, I found the edit history of that page confusing, but it seems to me that although you removed the vandalism, you removed some good content too and so I've restored it. I'm confused only because I'm not sure where that good content came from, as I don't see it anywhere in the edit history except on that one vandal's edits. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 22:27, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Because the edit filter doesn't carry over the CAPTCHA-solved state, and the CAPTCHA page doesn't carry over the edit filter warned state, anonymous and new users are completely prevented from making an edit that adds external links and triggers a filter set to warn. I would recommend creating this article in your userspace first. Not only would it prevent triggering the abuse filter, but I'm afraid if you put the article up "live" it might get nominated for deletion. Thanks for reporting this. The filters seem to be working just as they should, and there's really no way that a filter will ever be able to tell the difference between a "malicious" deletion and the kind that you had made. But don't worry about it, because even well established editors sometimes accidentally delete content from a page (I did it the other night, but quickly caught the mistake and fixed it). As a side note, this particular filter only triggers on editors who are not yet autoconfirmed, which means that in 4 days you won't have to worry about it anymore. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 13:37, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

This is one example where I can't tell exactly what caused the filter to trigger, but I do know that it definitely shouldn't be, so I'm going to bring this up with the edit filter managers and see if they can fix the behavior so that things like this won't happen in the future. I'm sorry your article had to get deleted. It looks like a good article to me. I'd go ahead and create the article for you, but from looking at the details of the filters, that might not solve the problem, since you wouldn't even be able to edit it. Nonetheless, I will paste the article into your userspace for now. Im sorry this had to happen and I hope you dont get discouraged. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 13:15, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
- The article right now is at User:MBallethist 2/Ballet. As I said before, I don't even think you can edit it right now, which is an unfortunate problem that I'm going to try to bring up with the administrators in the hope that this won't happen in the future. At any rate, if you want to wait 4 days and make 10 edits to Wikipedia within that time, you'll be considered autoconfirmed and can go back to editing the page. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 13:27, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

It's because the link you were adding contains "x-n2o", which is the same as your username. A silly little rule, but it actually helps us stop spam more often than not. Since you've been here for a year I'm going to assume you're not intent on spamming us, or you would have done it a long time ago. - Description
- I was adding a section of text that was not vandalious in any way, shape or form. It directly stated the truthful names of the most common video mashups, techniques, and the profile names of the most well known mashup makers. Text that was used is here: "The bulk of these "mashups" are also referred to as "Youtube Poops" or YTPs. YTPs often utilize a wide range of different techniques, including the ones mentioned above, to create their "poops". Some of the most well known (and in some people's opinions, the most well liked) "Poopers" include: WalrusGuy, Deppercut, BMATF (or bigmarioandtailsfan), SSBMEXPERT, thechairman45, wikiwow, boogidyboo, captpan6, oiramapap (also known as igiulamam), Vorhias, Youtubepoop, StegBlob, MeiAIDS, IkwaylxZ, Jaklub, and IAMGOOMBA just to name a few. YTP has gone under many slogans and pictures, though most pictures incorporate the YouTube logo(often modified) and the words poop somewhere in the picture, and are often accompanied by the line "Where there's smoke, they pinch back." Also, an under-promoted news group, YTPNews, headed on the profile YTPnews1, has been on youtube for some time now, and provides sources, a "poop of the week", and often random bits of information relating to YTPs." There is nothing malicious about this block of text. The term "Youtube Poop" is commonly used on YouTube (Don't believe me? do a video search of Youtube poop and you will come up with thosands, maybe even millions, of videos that are "Youtube Poops". The rightful name of these videos should be capable of being utilized in Wikipedia, to prevent censorship. (Does the recent incident where a German murder filed a lawsuit against Wikipedia, causing Wikipedia to object, calling it censorship, ring any bells here?)

I'm familiar with YouTube Poop, yes. - The edit was disallowed because it contained the phrase "Dr Poop", and currently the filter is set to block the word "poop" except in certain exempt phrases such as "poop deck". I've gone ahead and reverted the other edit now so it should be OK. Thanks for reporting this here. This filter may need to be pacified a bit since it has triggered at least three false positives just today, though I'm not sure if this is typical. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 01:51, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

- It caught the description of William Paulinha's sexual orientation. Too many new users of Wikipedia vandalize pages with possibly defamatory comments related to a living person's sexual orientation. Wikipedia takes defamation of living people very seriously, and this edit filter errs on the side of safety. If you spend a week editing unrelated pages before writing about sexual orientations, the filter will assume you are serious about improving the encyclopedia. --Damian Yerrick (talk | stalk) 22:26, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

- By "dangerous" I meant that it triggered three filters simultaneously , one of which (9) would have disallowed the edit if the user attempted to save it. Anyway, due to a known bug the "warn->tag->warn" sequence is an equivalent of "disallow". Ruslik_Zero 14:35, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, I didn't know that. Filter 9 should probably be modified accordingly, then. Maybe so it excludes articles in Category:Human sexuality or something. --Conti|✉ 14:45, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- whatever the problem, the edits i attempted were all, i believe, constructive and...while they might perhaps trigger a warning filter (it is rather difficult to edit article ABOUT sex without using sexual terms)...should not have been disallowed when i hit "save" again. if anything, it should have hit a pending hopper whereby a registered user could review and approve or disapprove of pending edits. (i had not looked at this "false positive" page for some days following the "it is dangerous to to edit articles about sex" rather dismissive response.)--98.113.187.11 (talk) 10:35, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

- From what I can tell, the problems here are:
- The text ''Italic text'' makes it look like a test edit.
- All categories were removed in this edit.
- The references were removed.
- A known bug is that if the same edit is caught by both a tag filter (#2 and #3) and a warn filter (#1), then the edit is, in fact, disallowed. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 17:51, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
