It's not actually just the word "penis" that's blocked but a complex sequence of checks that you managed to hit because of a condition we hadn't expected. I have corrected the problem and you should be able to make the edit now. Thank you for reporting this problem, and I hope you don't have problems like this in the future. Regards, Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 04:29, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for fixing it and thanks for being nice. :) You really shouldn't block edits, though. It's frustrating. You should let them go through but flag them for review.

A lot of times people write poop in an article in the belief that since it's considered a childish word, it will pass the filter. But such edits include vandalism. This had led to the ironic situation where sometimes poop is filtered even more strictly than shit, although both are filtered. In this case, I don't really have an opinion ... Wikipedia is not censored for younger audiences, so there's nothing really wrong with writing shit in an article, though I wouldn't recommend it either. The most common solution I've seen is to write defecate, which can apparently apply to birds, so although I find it rather out-of-place in a list of TV episodes I think it would be best to switch it to that. —Soap— 18:15, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Adding a link to a website containing your username is often a sign of an advertiser attempting to get their products listed on Wikipedia. I don't see any ads on your site, so I'm going to go ahead and make the link, because the edit filter would not have stopped it anyway if you had hit Save the first time. However, entirely separate from the question of advertising is whether the link is "appropriate"; other editors may remove it in the future for reasons unrelated to your username. —Soap— 18:21, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Don't be alarmed, or feel that you're being classified as a problem account; this filter detects instances of users adding a link containing their username because such a pattern often indicates an account who is trying to promote a service or product on Wikipedia. There is no need to worry about false positives leading people to scrutinize your edits ... and there is no realistic way for the filter to be able to tell apart the good edits from the bad. —Soap— 23:23, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

There is no need to worry about false positives leading people to scrutinize your edits ... and there is no realistic way for the filter to be able to tell apart the good edits from the bad. Without a full understanding of Spanish I can't really judge myself the nature of the link you're posting, and so I cannot guarantee that other users will not remove it, but if you'd like to go ahead and re-add it you should be able to. Since there's little chance of the filter being disabled, you may want to change to a new username so that people will not see the same tags on those edits, especially if you plan to make more of them. —Soap— 01:48, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but it's not possible to predictably account for legitimate uses of capitalized words like MOTHERFUCKER without disabling the filter entirely. If this is what you think should be done, it should probably be brought up at WT:Edit filter, as a major change to the filters should generally never be made without discussion. —Soap— 14:18, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

The edit filter isn't there to stop your edits, it's just a warning system. be aware though that an article passing the edit filter says nothing about whether it meets verifiability and notability requirements, which are necessary for the page to stay in the encyclopedia. —Soap— 22:13, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

- It would be better to use the article's talk page (accessible through the [talk] tab at the top of the article) if you want to point out inaccuracy. I can't actually find anything in there that could be triggering the "disallow" filter, but it's obviously a good article, so if you have the text saved you can create the article in your userspace (at an address such as User:Kak500/Vic Schoen and then move it to mainspace with the [move] tab at the top. If not I'll check back in the morning and can create the article from the filter log, though that would mean that all automated messages relating to the article would go to me, which is why I'd prefer to give you a chance to try creating it again yourself. —Soap— 03:25, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

I've pasted the content into the page you were trying to create so you can work on it some more if you'd like (the formatting, at least, seems slightly off). Note that if you page-move directly from the subspace page to the mainspace that it will see me as the article creator, and thus all automated messages related to the maintenance of the article will go to me. So if you'd rather not have that, you can create the article again in a difference subspace page since I've removed the 'gay' filter that was causing it to be disallowed (I;m almost sure 'gay' will appear in some other filter anyway, one which is less aggressive, and therefore will not be a problem). —Soap— 12:13, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

- If you were to hit "save page" twice instead of moving the link around, it would have let you put it through, however I strongly advise you reconsider doing this. Because you own this site, you have a strong conflict of interest and should read that guideline before proceeding. I also note that your username represents your website, and not you as an individual, and this is against our username policy. Accordingly, placing this link into the text may be viewed as spam. Please think about whether or not this link adds encyclopedic value to the article, and keep in mind that Wikipedia is not a collection of links. We do not discriminate against negative content assuming it is properly sourced, so avoiding this pattern of vandalism should allow your edit through. Thanks for reporting this error. I'm not going to try again with this user (it hasn't been created yet, so I'll ask another ACC tool user to do it), but I'm not sure why it was triggered, as I was only doing what I would normally do - with the exception that I got 3 "This wiki is having problems" errors first.

This is a very new filter, still in its testing stages. It still has some bugs in it, and that's why it's set to allow the edit through. If you wrote WHAT IF YOUR MOTHER in lowercase (or at least not all caps) it would go through. The filter blocks this because of the common use of YOUR MOTHER as an insult and cannot tell the difference between legitimate edits and vandalism. <big><big><big> is not allowed to be used in mainspace articles, as it (and longer chains of the same) are commonly used by vandals. To be honest, I'm not sure this article is a good idea even aside from that, since it seems to be that you're looking for help building the article and writing it even on the article itself, but that's an issue entirely aside from the Edit Filter, so I will only recommend that you consider that the page might be deleted or merged into the main Loksata article if you decide to go ahead. —Soap— 15:32, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Probably tripped by pasting The High Fin Sperm Whale 's sig into the archive. I would recommend that this filter be relaxed to some extent, at least in terms of who is able to bypass the filter, because it's essentially aimed at distributed attacks from non-regular editors, and in the event that someone with a long edit history decides to join in, they'll get blocked just as surely as the others. Also, I get the impression that at present, it would be impossible for HFSW to edit your page. Thank you for your interest in reverting vandalism, however, even when removing vandalism, it is important to be civil in the edit summaries, or else the edit summary may itself be considered vandalism by the software. In this case, if you had typed in lowercase the edit would have gone through, though it is better to use a simpler summary like "reverting vandalism" or even just "rv" ... if people really want to see what the edit was, they can check. I'll keep a watch on this article as it seems to get a lot of attention. —Soap— 01:41, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Two issues here: Adding a link containing your username is often a sign of a promotional account, but not always; external images cannot be linked from Wikipedia articles, so if you want to include an image you will have to upload it first. I havent had a chance to investigate the image and the external link so I cant vouch for whether or not it is a good idea to add them, but the edit filter will not stop you if you try again with the same edit. —Soap— 17:23, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Well this is a combination of several tagworthy filters, none of which would have actually stopped you from creating the article. I remember that there was a bug in which "warn-tag-warn" was equivalent to "disallow", but this seems to be "warn-tag-tag". Does anyone know if that would also be a disallow? In any case, I don't believe your article meets the notability requirements, and thus could be deleted, though the edit filter is agnostic about that by design. If you want to get by the filters, you can recreate the article without the email and web link in it, as that is what was setting off the filters. —Soap— 02:23, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

For EFM use: redo edit
- Unfortunately, with our limited tools, this is extremely difficult to detect. I will consider a (fairly complex) regular expression to properly take this into account, but until such time that that has been determined, I have gone ahead and forced your edit through. This should exempt your edits in the future. However, I suspect that when you've finished in the sandbox, you will likely have trouble moving it to the main template as well. Probably the best avenue is to contact an admin or EFM (using my talk page is fine) when you're ready to move to the main template to force it through again. The MediaWiki software contains a bug such that editing a word in any non-final position on a line or paragraph is seen by the software as deletion of the whole paragraph and replacement with the modified version. Thus, even though you only changed one word, MediaWiki assigned the whole paragraph to your edit, and since further in the paragraph there were obscenities, it was disallowed. I apologize for the inconvenience, but it was not the link that was causing the problem. I will go and fix the parts of your edit that didnt get through. —Soap— 11:56, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

This filter is set to warn-only, and will not stop you from making the edit. The filters cannot distinguish between legitimate removals and vandalism, and our administrators know this, so don't feel that by being tagged you are being automatically assumed to be a vandal. As the change you are making is very large I can't form an opinion on it, and won't involve myself in the article if a dispute should develop. —Soap— 13:49, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

My apologies that you were hit by this filter. The issue was your word "tranny" in the edit summary. I've removed this because this is an obviously appropriate word that cannot be filtered. Thanks for reporting this. You should be able to make your edit now. Regards, Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 13:42, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Generally speaking, users are not allowed to blank other users' talk pages. In the case that you have a dynamic IP, there is no clear way to associate a user with a particular IP address, so if you want to be able to have your own talk page it would be best to register a named account. —Soap— 14:56, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

- I advise that you read over WP:COI and WP:NPOV as you seem to have a conflict of interest on this subject based on what you've said here. However, this is not the place to address that concern. With regards to the filter, there is nothing stopping you from making this edit, the warning you received was only a warning to indicate these concerns. If you still wish to go through with the edit (though I advise reading the relevant policies first) you are more than welcome to. --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 18:25, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for attempting to do this. Unfortunately, new and unregistered users blanking talk pages is usually a sign of vandalism, so this is an extremely rare case, and we have no way of detecting whether or not such a blanking is appropriate. In the future, should you decide not to register, you may consider marking the page for speedy deletion instead by placing {{db-spam}} or similar at the top of the page. Thanks for your concern and for attempting to do this! --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 07:58, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
- Tried that. It wouldn't even accept a db-spam template. 98.248.41.128 (talk) 08:00, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, I see what happened. Because you had hit the filter that prevents you from blanking the page so many times before trying {{db-spam}}, another filter which is designed to prevent users from attempting to circumvent filters by making minor changes incorrectly caught you after that. If you had just used {{db-spam}} right away it wouldn't have blocked you. There's been a lot of discussion about this second filter lately and whether or not it should be kept around, and I'm sorry it prevented you from making an appropriate change later. We'll certainly take your issues into consideration. Thanks again! --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 08:07, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

You have confused the system; the page should not have been created there, and now the filter believes that is another user's page that you are trying to move, which is not allowed by newer users. I will move the page to your userspace User:Greenlight Search/Greenlight (search marketing agency) however I strongly advise you to read WP:COI as you appear to have a conflict of interest. I strongly advise that you do not move the page to mainspace until you have read this policy and get a second opinion. Additionally, your username is of concern; I have left a notice on your talk page regarding that. Thanks, Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 11:13, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately, hits like this are common. The filter will hit upon pretty much anything with an @ sign and a period with no spaces in between. In the future it might be possible to hard-code all TLD's into the system and then ignore all others, which would cut down greatly on false positives, but that sort of functionality is not available yet. Gerhard Kahtz was [Nigerian Air Force]]'s Chief of the Air Staff from 1963 to 1965. Colonel Gerhard Kahtz can be described as the first Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) of the Nigeria Air Force (NAF). However, he was officially designated as the Commander of the NAF. His task was to create an Air Force for Nigeria when the agreement was signed between Nigeria and Germany in 1963.
Born on 26 November 1922 in Durlach, Germany, Colonel Kahtz was a professional architect, before his commission as an officer into the German Air Force. He served the GAF as a Luftwaffe pilot during the Second World War during which he was decorated with the prestigious Iron Cross for his courage and devotion to duty. Colonel Kahtz arrived Nigeria on 30 May 1963 as head of the German Air Force Assistance Group(GAFAG) which was charged with the responsibility of setting up the Nigeria Air Force, by recruiting troops, buying aircraft, establishing support services or training equipment on ground. By the end of his tour of duty on 23 November 1965, a functional Nigeria Air Force existed with an operational base in Kaduna and administrative headquarters in Lagos. His administration brought the first set of aircraft into the NAF inventory. Among these is the Allouette helicopter and fixed wing aircraft such as the DO-27, the

Generally you should not add an email address anywhere in an article, whether it's the email of the subject of the article or the email of someone else related. If people want that information, they can go directly to the website, but it is a bad idea to put it on Wikipedia as our pages are highly visible and having an email listed in a live article could lead to problems with spamming. —Soap— 18:00, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

The edit youre making is very similar to ones which have been filtered and/or removed in the past, and I dont feel comfortable adding it in for you. There has been a history of controversial edits about Gilad Atzmon which has led to the necessity of this filter, and it seems like youve hit this filter before. If you wish to make edits about controversial subjects I would recommend registering a named account. It wont give you any additional "powers" such as the ability to make edits that cant be undone, but it will make it easier for people to find you and you will be free of some of the edit filters such as this one if you become autoconfirmed which happens after 4 days and 10 edits. —Soap— 00:43, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia username polioy prohibits usernames that seem to indicate either advertising or more than one person using the account (or both); while it may seem to trivial to focus on the name a particular editor chooses, the reasons for the policy are laid out on that page and have been generally agreed upon by a wide audience. If you would like to create this article I recommend creating a new account with a different username, in particular one that represents you as a person rather than the company you work for. —Soap— 15:17, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

- Hello. The filter hit has nothing to do with the actual content of the page. The filter is stopping you because of your affiliation with the article. Please note that you should generally avoid writing content about articles with which you have a conflict of interest. Furthermore, your username represents an organization instead of you as an individual; your username must be unique to you. Please keep these things in mind when making future edits. I cannot comment on the content of your post as I am neither an expert on the subject nor a significant contributor; I suggest you discuss these issues on the article's talk page. --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 15:47, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

- The trigger was correct. It is designed to catch people linking to their own websites, which is usually spam. In this case it is not, but you can bypass the filter simply by ignoring the warning and clicking on "save page" a second time. this only happens when you add a new external link. There is a limitation in the way the filter parses words, that sometimes causes something like this where a completely normal edit summary is seen as equivalent to a very disruptive one. Sorry. It's embarrassing that there are problems like this, but as of present, the only way to get around it would be to disable the filter. I will see if there is a better possible solution for this particular problem, though. Thank you very much for reporting it; Ive gone on to make the edit you were attempting to make. —Soap— 01:55, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

The filter seems to have thought you were making a very large edit, which means that all of what you wrote was totaled together, and seen as a very large insertion, which is graded more harshly than small edits. It looks like you got the content you wanted by working piece by piece. I will look at disabling the size check if possible to prevent things like this; another alternative would be to add an exception for userspace. —Soap— 23:21, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

MOBSHITTERS MC AUSTRALIA
Founded in 1970 in Hurstville, Sydney, Australia. Thus named during the forming of the club, the founding members wanted to set the club apart from other outlaw clubs by deciding to do something that would "really shit the other mobs out there", and the name Mobshitter was born. The Mobshitters are the only recognised outlaw club in Australia that refuses to wear a back patch. Whose moto is "we dont have to turn our back to you, to show you who we are".

Well, the capitalized title at the top was being seen as vandalism by the filter. Articles really dont need titles at all, so if you remove it you should be fine. Be aware though that the edit filter says nothing about whether an article meets notability and verifiability, and that without those things, an article will most likely be quickly deleted. —Soap— 13:37, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

- Your edits were blocked for a wide variety of reasons. Firstly, phone numbers and emails rarely belong in articles. Articles are meant to provide encyclopedic information, not contact information for the company. Secondly, you appear to have a conflict of interest and the filter was warning you that generally editing in a conflict of interest is not a good idea. Finally, your username violates username policy by representing a company instead of you as an individual. I applied simple logic. General Ting Chao could not have organized the “Jilin Provincial Anti-Japanese Government" in November of 1932 because all organized Chinese resistance had ended by March of 1932; and before the end of March, 9132, the New state of Manchukuo had been created.

Furthermore, you are going to need to show significant coverage to ensure this site meets the notability criteria, otherwise it is liable to be deleted. Remove the commentary about poop and you will be able to make the page, or if you can show me some sources I can add an exemption. Well, your username is that of a commercial publisher, and the link you were inserting is to their web site. This would probably be in violation of the username policy and possibly in violation of the external link policy as well. However, I wouldnt be willing to make a judgment like that just based on the one edit you've made; I'd encourage you to change your username to something that represents you as a person rather than the company you work for (if indeed that's what it is), in order to avoid being tagged by this filter in the future. —Soap— 23:10, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

As above, the fact that you created a link with your username in it is not a false positive, so if youre sure there is no conflict of interest involved, you can go on and make the edit. As for the "external images" tag, it's because you made a link using the HTML "a href" type of code, which is not necessary and can cause problems. Please use square brackets like [[ ]] to link to other Wikipedia pages. —Soap— 23:02, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

- Was performing cleanup, including populating citation template parameters. A main parameter of the

template is the id field. The IDs are in the form of numberatsigndomain. Some error trapping should really be built in to check for that, including manual references that also include a string corresponding to newsgroup name format, so false positives aren't permalogged on editor's log histories. - Date and time

Sorry but it isnt really possible to write a filter like that, as the string (numbers)@(domain name).(TLD) could indeed be an email address. Please dont feel youre being classified as a problem account or a vandal; a lot of long time editors accumulate tags over time. —Soap— 02:57, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
- It could be, but in some cases it isn't. URIs and newsgroup IDs are examples. The predecessor filter (more below) mentions computer‑address data as well. Taking your first point though, if it really isn't possible then that's that of course.
- It's not the end of the world, but it's still a permanent log; and, notwithstanding the name change in some though not other places, is an abuse filter. It exists to detect and flag not great edits to give hugs to editors, but problem edits to prevent editors from inserting them or flag the edit for manual review by another editor.
- I had a look around the filter page today. Mainly from there, I have some feedback.
- The Notes field isn't up to date. It still states the filter purely tags though may be turned to warn/disallow in the future. The checked actions are flag and warn.
- The system message assigned is abusefilter-warning-email. When previewed, it says the message is in use only on Special:AbuseFilter/76.
That's marked deleted, and was also for e-mail address addition. It was disabled because some computer addresses aren't e-mails at all (!); plus, slowness. This (#247) was created 2 weeks after the first one was disabled. - The original one seems to contain usergroup exemptions e.g., sysop. Filter #247 already has arguments to exclude those that're part of URIs (.htm*). Is it possible to similarly exclude those using {{cite news}} syntax , where foo is alphanumericatdomain?
So, something like:
(?!\.\|[Ii][Dd]=)
Or on strings using syntax news:foo, which the template renders for an external link according to the filter log entry, something like:
(?![Nn][e][w][s]:)
That will only work on the template and literal news:foo links, but is some improvement. Somebody familiar with filter writing would need to write the actual code of course. - It's easy to imagine others will consider a small amount of tags merits no consideration. As the list grows though, it becomes more likely to raise an eyebrow.
There are earlier filter log entries on my account, though none for almost a year. The first four, from a since deleted filter, were for date delinking. I was going through a category doing general cleanup. A moratorium was in place on semi/automated bulk delinking at the time, though in my view the edits were insufficient to hit any sensible rate limit plus were part of other necessary cleanup changes made in the same edits. The next of the eight was for adding a userspace link in mainspace. It's fair enough as it is unusual. The edit placed a copyvio template with a see also link to a sysop's talkpage where it was being discussed. The next was for a pleasant enough edit, flagged by Prodego's test filter; again not really an issue.
The description on the final two is "adding emails in articles". It's an action very characteristic of somebody either too new to know what they're doing or, for a more long time contributor, possibly a moron. In this case, the filter added two log entries, 2 minutes apart. A probable impression on seeing one is the editor made a basic error; we all make mistakes. With another moments later, it does have that hint of "For goodness sake, the dozy so & so's done it again!"
As the first message ("If you still wish to continue with your edit, you may hit "Save page" again below, and it will be submitted as is.") essentially says "you appear to be trying to add an e-mail address, click confirm if you're sure that's intentional", two log entries for what amounts to the same edit--after the editor confirms seems too many. The first action is 'warn', the second 'tag'. I think it would be better to have just one log entry added.
An epilogue to this is subsequently a vandal blanked the page. User:Eraserhead1 restored the content, and obviously fell foul of the filter again. It's now the only entry in his filter log. It looks like anybody restoring such content would experience the same. On being warned it seems he removed the id-value, so now one of the cite params is absent. I don't blame him, and it's a small thing of course. The page was later semi-protected, which'll limit driveby vandalism. I'm disinclined to add it back, given it'd add two more log entries to my account. - The preloader to submit false positives doesn't allow an edit summary to be added. It seems a shame to have edit summary usage drop a percent. I figured out where to submit it directly in the end, but others may not. I don't know if it's possible with those templates, but even a predefined one would be something.
- The Notes field isn't up to date. It still states the filter purely tags though may be turned to warn/disallow in the future. The checked actions are flag and warn.

The filter was triggered because you removed all of the categories that the article was in. Please dont do this, as they help people navigate Wikipedia (and will probably be added back in anyway). —Soap— 15:14, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

The filter is detecting a possible conflict of interest. This is not the reason why your account was blocked, however; you were blocked because your username doesnt meet the username policy. Usernames should represent you as an indi idual rather than a group you are affiliated with. —Soap— 22:27, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

- Description
- Important Resource Removed from Circuit Board page
- I am writing to inform you that an important resource was removed from the circuit board page (Circuit_boards). It has served as an important resource for the printed circuit board industry on Wikipedia for the past two and 1/2 years. I built that to serve as a resource and it has continued to be posted as resource on Wikipedia for over 2 years. Please review the historical records and you will see how far back that listing has been posted.
- Suddenly, it was removed and I've tried several times to add it again but it doesn't appear to stay up. I sent an original request here: Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Computing where I received the following reply from a different editor:
- It seems that an edit war is taking place. User:HumphreyW is removing the link because it is a commercial site; this seems like an invalid reason to remove the link; WP:EL does not forbid commercial sites anyway. However, the appropriate place to address this issue is the article talk page. Nimur (talk) 21:25, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
- The only reason I can think of for it to be removed is that the web site was updated and the page was pointing to the old site. Or it was recommended by a searcher that I add (Printed Circuit Boards) after PCB to make it clearer as to what the glossary was describing.
- I'm bummed because the listing has been up for so long and I've since done research on your content guidelines and I guess this was not the right thing to do. I hope you consider adding this listing back to the page as it was before. Here is where it was listed (and what it said).
- You was warned by a filter because you seems to have a conflict of interest—your user name coincides with the name of the company. The reason for the removal of the link was probably the same. Ruslik_Zero 18:16, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- Others
and here is what I updated the listing to:
- Others2
If this truly is determined as advertising content, then it was not my intention and please post the link back up as it was. Regardless, I'm just wanting to make sure that the link is reinstated.
Please feel free to contact me via my account if you need to further discuss. I will make it a point to review the information before making any changes or updates.

While I understand your frustration, this isnt really a problem with the edit filter and I think discussion should continue on the talk page of the article(s) in question, as that is where people who best understand the situation can be found. —Soap— 22:24, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

I was trying to copy and paste what I had written in Microsoft Word, with external/outside lines at the bottom. It told me it was a biography, and because it had external links, had to type in a "spam" code every time. After five times, I received an error message. What I am trying to post is NOT a biography that has already been made, or of a single individual.
- It looks like you created the article at Fandub Scattered Alliance Team, which is okay as far as the edit filter is concerned, because those filters are warn-only, not "disallow" type. However the page is currently up for deletion because it does not indicate why the organization is notable and may not be ready to go live (I notice there are no references and there is a notice at the bottom stating more information will be added later). In adittion, your account has been blocked, though only because of its username, which denotes the organization youre affiliated with, rather than you as an individual. You are welcome to try again to create the article with a new username, but I would recommend making sure it meets our page creation criteria, or it will likely be deleted once again. —Soap— 13:09, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

- Thank you for your report. This filter is designed to detect phrases that are typically vandalism. One of the entries was inappropriate and I have thus removed it from the filter. You should be able to make your edit now. However, please note that it is likely that your page will be deleted under speedy deletion criterion A7. Please be sure to include an assertion of why the subject is notable. All subjects on Wikipedia must be notable, that is, fit for inclusion in an encyclopedia. However, as this filter is not designed to detect notability, it is designed to detect malicious edits, I have adjusted the filter accordingly. Thanks, (ʞןɐʇ) ʞıɹıɥs 14:28, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Yiddish was historically the main language of Ashkenazi Jews, Ladino of Sephardic Jews, and Judeo-Arabic of Mizrahi Jews. It surely has a place among the main languages of the Jewish people. Thanks; I dont really know if it's possible to write the filter in such a way that removal of huge numbers of repeated lines like that would be exempt; however it was only a "warn" filter and since an edit like that will be almost instantly reverted anyway via an automated process such as ClueBot it probably isn't going to be a problem very often. —Soap— 18:18, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

- I think the reason none of us edit filter managers have taken this up is because it is so hard to filter for. I, personally, can think of no good way of excusing these edits from the filter. Of course, the worst thing that can happen is some edits get wrongly tagged, which is in my eyes, not all that bad. They are, in the end, still being allowed. Tim1357 talk 23:10, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

- And I've encountered it twice more since filing this initial report. 76.102.27.141 (talk) 16:41, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- Anybody? I don't want this to be archived and ignored. 76.102.27.141 (talk) 14:58, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- There is now a section at Wikipedia_talk:Edit_filter#False_positives about this report, and hopefully it will attract more attention. I think the people who watch this page, including me, are accustomed to looking only at the very bottom of the page since 99% of the time, the reports are answered quickly and thus forgotten. —Soap— 01:31, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
