Original – Graziella, by Jules Joseph Lefebvre, which depicts the title character of Alphonse de Lamartine's novel Graziella

Reason: Lovely painting of the title character of this (actually quite enjoyable) novel. Free, detailed, and encyclopedic (Graziella's bare feet are mentioned several times, and her long black hair is central to a rather dramatic part of the novel)
