Wikipedia english classified as entertainment?

Hi, I've always used wikipedia from my job computer, but today I could access the website because it was restricted since the page was classified as "Entertainment". It was not like that before. Could you keep your old classification in other I and others many users can access the site from their job computers? Hi Erich, I had the same problem on Thursday. I suspect your employer uses Websense, as mine does, for content filtering. If that's the case, the site categorizations are set by Websense Technologies, not by us. Their categorizations are semi-automated, and occasionally, they make an error. I was able to access Wikipedia on Friday, so I believe they have corrected the error. If you still cannot access Wikipedia from work, you'll probably need to contact your IT people there. Orphans

If an image file is an orphan, not linked to any page, does it get automatically deleted after a time?

The joy of Wikipedia is that anyone can edit any article - just click the "Edit" button (top middle of the page) in the article in question Frigoglass and make the changes. However, note that all information on Wikipedia needs to be verifiable - see also Wikipedia:Cite your sources. — QuantumEleven 12:10, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

As Quantum says, you can edit the Frigoglass article yourself (I don't think it is protected, so you won't need a Wikipedia account to do this). But you will need to reference a reliable source for these facts, and explain just what you mean by "operations" - the Frigoglass website (linked from the article) says it has "production facilities in 10 countries on 3 continents". And the phrase "world's largest" is likely to be disqualified as a peacock term unless you can provide a very reliable and clear third-party source to support that claim. Removing WikEd buttons

Alaskan Highway

I am planning to ride to Alaska on the Alaskan Highway next May or June. I will be riding a motorcycle. Due to my limited range on a tank of gas(approximately 160 miles)I am concerned about the frequency of gas stations on the route. I can carry a limited amount of extra gas if absolutely necessary but would prefer not to.

I am wondering if there is a book, article, or map I can purchase or access for this information? I don't know where to start or who to ask so any help would be appreciated.

What's this process called?

You do something with your account where WP gives you like a long series of numbers or letters so that if your account is ever "compromised", you can prove your identity. What the point basically is is that you take a "secret message", encode it in a one-way cryptographic hash such as SHA, and publicly display the encoded message on your userpage. If your account is taken over, and you regain control, give a trusted user the original secret message, and they can calculate the hash of that and verify that you are the rightful controller of your account. This was not my question but I've wondered about those hash things. If the "trusted user" compares the two hashes and gets a match, what do they do then?

A match confirms that you are the person who was in control of the account at the time the account calculated the hash and published it (as theoretically only that person knows the pre-hash value). As to which should be used, it really doesn't matter, although SHA-512 appears to be the most secure. Just make sure you put the right one into the template, otherwise recalculation will fail. Need assistance to delete a first draft, unwanted sentence located within a dotted line border on the Webb Pierce page

I placed additional information on the Wikipedia site about country music star, Webb Pierce. I have been unable to delete (edit) a first draft sentence that now appears in a dotted line bordered box in the middle of the text. This sentence does not appear on the edit page only in the final version.

I could not locate the proper method of deleting this sentence in the help section.

The dotted box is made when a line starts with a space like this line.

At least one of your edits to Webb Pierce did that. All your edits to the article have since been reverted. If you still see the dotted box or other parts of your edits then you probably have to bypass your cache. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:32, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

"Lost in Love"

My apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong place, but I don't want to mess anything up. I decided to create some pages for songs by Air Supply that didn't already have them, and I started with "Lost in Love". When I typed it into the search box, both "Lost in Love" and "Lost In Love" came up, which I assumed both went to the same place. The one with the lowercase i was a redirect page to the Air Supply page, so I went there, deleted the redirect and created the page. Then I realized that the one with the capital I was a disambigutaion page, so I moved "Lost in Love" to "Lost in Love (Air Supply song)". Now I think the disambig page with the capital I needs to be moved to conform to wiki-spelling, but I think that may mess the whole thing up since "Lost in Love" redirects to the song page, thus looping in a double redirect or something? Referencing
