Disambiguation of a minor previous entry to a new major entry of the same name

edit

Hello,

For the past few weeks I have been compiling facts to create a new Wikipedia entry for the artist group named Celer, who was active from 2005-2009. I have all the necessary information, biographies, discography, sources, relevant links, etc.

In searching Wikipedia I found no pages created for the artist group Celer, but instead I found this one, created because of a mention in a book by Ovid: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celer

My question is this.. Since Celer (the artist group) would be searched heavily, far more than the literary reference, should I change the literary reference to a minor article, but creating a descriptive addition to the link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celer (literary reference) or something like that..

or should I instead create something like this, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celer (artists) for the artist group, and leave the other alone?

Doing a simple google search for Celer obviously shows there is more popularity directed towards the artists.

Thank you for your time, I really appreciate it, and thank you for helping me create a good information source for these important, and meaningful artists. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Missing Symmetry (talkcontribs) 02:36, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator

edit

Does anybody know where all the administrators are located so I can ask them for assistance? 24.189.90.68 (talk) 02:53, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You can find the list here. Alternatively, you can use {{adminhelp}} and ask your question on your talk page, and an admin will come along and help you. ≈ Chamal talk 02:56, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. 24.189.90.68 (talk) 02:57, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This page is for questions about using Wikipedia. Please consider asking this question at the Miscellaneous reference desk. They specialize in knowledge questions and will try to answer any question in the universe (except how to use Wikipedia, since that is what this Help Desk is for). Just follow the link and ask away. You could always try searching Wikipedia for an article related to the topic you want to know more about. I hope this helps. Someguy1221 (talk) 06:13, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Toolbox antics

edit

Hi, I have created a toolbox without really considering what sort of thing goes in it. I have looked at User page help pages and have still not found an answer. Can somebody please tell me? Thank you. Rock drum (talk) 10:34, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Have you checked the user page design center? You'll probably find some ideas there. ≈ Chamal talk 11:39, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I have already done that. I'm sorry for not mentioning it before. Rock drum (talk) 15:13, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

erroneous article

edit

The original entry on my father Charles "Chick" Parsons was a short and accurate biography of that man. Now it is not visible and has been replaced by a highly erroneous article. How did this happen? I do not want to spend a lot of time correcting the present one. But I would like to have the original available once again, instead of the one that is there now. thanks. How do I do that???-----PetercparsonsPetercparsons (talk) 11:55, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Wikipedia:Autobiography#Problems in an article about you. Even though the article is about a relative and not you personally, that section should help. Dismas|(talk) 13:03, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article's talk page discusses what happened. Thomas R. Fasulo edited and the article based on a book. He says he talked to you and stopped editing based on your feedback on the source he was using. It might be best to discuss your concerns more with him. I hope this helps explain what happened and there are a couple of suggestions on how to proceed from here. If you need anything else I will try to help. ~~ GB fan ~~ talk 13:29, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

TOU violation?

edit

I found a website that contains text from Wikipedia. I know that reusing texts from Wikipedia on other websites is allowed, but, according to Wikimedia's Terms of Use, shouldn't be there a link to the page's history so that its authors could receive some credit?--ATDC Raigeki (talk) 12:49, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

moving from user pages to articles space

edit

I have written an article in user space and now want to move it to article space. How do I do it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiroshermes (talkcontribs) 16:55, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You can only move pages when your account is autoconfirmed, which happens when your account is at least four days old and has made at least ten edits. You can request someone here move your page for you, but I think your draft has issues with its sources and notability that should be addressed first. I suggest you read Wikipedia:So you made a userspace draft before a requesting it be moved. --Mysdaao talk 17:44, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
