Editing a table to the side of an article??

In the article "timeline of same sex marriage", the tables to the right first list countries that recognize same-sex marriage. However, the list does not include Nepal. How do I edit that table to the right? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dketcher (talk • contribs) 02:32, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Do you have a reliable source? Same-sex marriage in Nepal doesn't say so. Timeline of same-sex marriage contains {{SSM}}. This code transcludes a template. Template:SSM redirects to Template:Same-sex unions which is semi-protected so it can only be edited by autoconfirmed users. You can post a suggestion to Template talk:Same-sex unions. Go to the bottom of the table (where it says LGBT portal) and find the “e”. Click it and you can edit. As said above, you need a source, and you need to learn table formatting.

 Nepal has been added. Thanks for telling us. Also, in Article:Nepal, Sections 3.1 and 5 (Neotectonics and Subdivisions, respectively) need fixing (pictures, some kind of wrap problem) Thanks! Electric Ink

For some time Electric Ink has been shown as a BBC programme when it is in actual fact the company name of a graphic design company started many many years before the BBC even conceived their programme. The true Electric Ink has amended the page (more than once) whilst still leaving all of the content referring to the BBC programme to avoid offence, but each time the real Electric Ink's content is subsequently edited out - why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dennislindridge (talk • contribs) 07:56, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

If you make legal threats, you are not permitted to edit Wikipedia. If previous edits have been reverted, it is probably because no references were given to support the assertion being made. - David Biddulph (talk) 08:04, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Also, if you are talking about a different entity from that covered by the existing article, it would need a separate article, but you must not write it, as this would be a breach of WP:COI. For such a new article to be accepted, the relevant rules on notability would need to be satisfied. - David Biddulph (talk) 08:12, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

I have no idea what the Electric Ink is that you refer to as the "real" Electric Ink. Both your EI and the BBC programme are as "real" as anything else. If, for lack of a better description, your Electric Ink is notable then it could go in an article titled Electric Ink (company) or Electric Ink (tattoo parlor) or some such title. Something dodgy with my edits

I've just been editing [Schoenfeld] and with each edit some aspect of the article which I have not altered is changed. I'm going to try to correct this, but is there some sort of bug that would be causing this? I don't want a virus on my end to compromise the article (which needs a lot of work). That doesn't need an admin; I have done it for you. Perhaps you accidentally hit "Edit" at the top while looking at an old revision of the page? That would discard all the edits made since that revision. See Help:Revert#Manual reverting. -- John of Reading (talk) 09:56, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Inline citations

Actually, external links in the body of an article such as you describe are to be eliminated; there is no place for them in our model of referencing. They should either be references, or external links at the end of the article. --Orange Mike | Talk 20:59, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Using <ref name="google">http://www.google.com</ref> will produce. You then need to add {{Reflist}} in a section named 'References' like in the following example:

To give the link a better name rather than 1 you can use something like <ref>[http://www.google.com Google Main Page]</ref>

moving new short article to article space

I'm also having the same problem that was fixed on June 19th:

I'm not able to move a short new article into article space. I have an article at User:Cdbahls/Cif that should be at CFTR_Inhibitory_Factor (or even in place of Cif should it be deemed acceptable to rename/redirect the cleaning product).

Instant deleting

You can delete it, but be sure to explain in your edit summary why you did so, citing the policy in question, such as "non-neutral point of view", "irrelevant to this article", "unsourced attack" or whatever; and assume good faith on the part of the person who put it in. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:55, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Mike is exactly right, you can do it and an edit summary is strongly encouraged, otherwise, someone may assume it is vandalism, revert and warn you. I prefer to go a little further, and post a notice on the talk page that I intended to make some change, just to give people a chance to respond. It may be that there has been a long discussion, and this is consensus wording, or perhaps there is an ongoing discussion, and people are working out wording , in which case just deleting it may be a bit disruptive. --SPhilbrickT 21:41, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Amount of Non-free image per article

Where is the guidelines that dictate how many non-free images can be used on an article? I really need them in regards to the Bugs Bunny article dispute. Sarujo (talk) 22:10, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

The policy is at WP:NFCC. There is no limit, but per #8 each must significantly increase reader understanding, and per #3 multiple images can't be used if one will serve the purpose. —teb728 t c 23:11, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

How would this help with the situation on the Bugs Bunny article? They are insisting on including this one on the claim that they feel it's crucial to illustrate his appearance on The Looney Tunes Show. If the purpose is to show how Bugs Bunny looks, it would fail NFCC#3, for there are other images that do that. If it is (as appears to be the case) to decorate a mention of the 2011 show, it would fail NFCC#8. If it were to significantly increase reader understanding of sourced commentary on, for example, how the current appearance differs from the classical, then it would be acceptable. —teb728 t c 23:54, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

That's the thing the image doesn't reflect the actual design in the actual show, as seen in this screenshot. As you can see, there not any real difference. But you're right this is a fail of criteria. Sarujo (talk) 00:06, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
