The problem appears to be in the internal bracketed links of the text (within the template). Hopefully, someone here knows how to fix that (I don't short of removing them). If not, you can try posting your question at WP:VPT.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:02, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Moving other people's comments

What's our policy on moving other people's talk page comments? If I write a message on someone's user talk page and they delete it, and then repost it on an article's talk page, is that okay? I know that we can link to comments, and I know that deleting posts from one's talk page acknowledges that you've read the comment; but what about moving other people's comments onto other pages without asking them? Even without diffs, in short Wikipedia states that you can do whatever you want with the comments on your own talk page. I am not aware of any policy stating that you cannot move a comment from a user talk page to a talk page of another page. Ryan Vesey (talk) 03:11, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

If you were trying to discuss article content on his talk page, and he didn't want to discuss it privately, it was a good thing thing for him to do: (except for WP:BRD discussions) discussion of article content normally belongs on the article talk page so that all editors can be a party to it. —teb728 t c 04:04, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

You all make valid points. My main problem was having my old comments and an old time stamp moved over to another page. It makes it very difficult to verify that what has been posted is what I wrote, and when it was written. My date stamp says one time, the page diff says another time, and then two pages diffs need to be compared to verify if what was posted was what I said. I know that people can delete if they want, and I know they can link; but moving things feels a bit like having my words kidnapped. — Fly by Night (talk) 00:30, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Move article

Will somebody please move the article A. P. Moller-Maersk Group to "A.P. Moller - Maersk Group"? The reason for moving the article is that the correct name of the company is "A.P. I have moved the article instead to Maersk, per our policy on titling articles by the common name used in reliable English language sources to refer to the topic. Nurtrional value of wheat grass

I am in remission 3 years with tongue cancer. Opt not to go for radiation and went the alternative route ie carrot beetroot and wheat/ barley juice. Please advise why there is a difference between the nutritional values in the studies by Irvine Analytical Laboratories and in the book of Steve Meyerowitz data from USDA Nutrient Data Laboratory? Watchlist troubles

How come is FuckKorea, a page that has never existed, in my watchlist? I have also noticed that Wikipedia:Reference desk/Language sometimes (about 2 or 3 times so far) disappears from my watchlist, and I certainly haven't ever removed it from there. (This refdesk is the page that I open most often, and I would usually read it while logged out; I usually only log in when I wish to make an edit to a page). Is there a reason for me to worry that my account may have been compromised? --Theurgist (talk) 04:41, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Either the article did exist at one time, was deleted and then the entry in the logs removed by oversighting, or someone added it to your watchlist. If it wasn't you, could someone have used your account while you were logged in but away from the computer? I would be grateful if you do it, because the edit counter says I have made 3 deleted edits. I remember 2 of them: one was a comment on the talk page of a file last summer (the file must have been deleted later), and the other was when I placed a template on a redirect page to request its deletion so an uncontroversial move could be performed. I can't think of a third deleted edit right now, but I might, of course, be forgetting something. --Theurgist (talk) 05:47, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

The third was Category:2011–12 in European football (soccer) navigational boxes, which you created and which was deleted because it was empty. Regarding the phantom page, what often happens is that a page that is on your watchlist is the target of move vandalism, the move is then undone, but the page that it was moved to becomes part of your watchlist. Here, as above, there must have been oversighting. I highly doubt someone hijacked your account and then all they did was edit your watchlist to add a random false title (very few people even know titles can be manually added). I was trying to find information on Steve wrights TV show that he had in the 90's it was called i am sure The One Show it was a saturday night show with live guests and stupid acts performed by members of the public and I was on one of the shows but his TV show is not mentioned in his career you only have his radio shows. List of Local D.O. Doctors

I am trying to find a new doctor and have been advised by an M.D. to see a D.O., but he did not refer me to anyone, telling me to go online and look. I have been unable to find any! I found one DoctorList but my search came up with totally NO doctors for this area!! Does swikipedia have local doctor listings somewhere I can't find? listen to .mid files

hello,

I am not able to listen to .mid files. I just see the link to the file and by clicking on it I come to the file page. There I see an icon and inside a note. Is it just me? How to clean up a specific article

I try to clean up List of conglomerates. The article contains a large amount of entries without any verification, that the company in question actually is a conglomerate. I already provided sources for some of the entries and moved them to a separate section: 'Current conglomerates'. I tagged all unreferenced entries in the article with a citation needed tag. Now my question is how should I proceed with this article? It seems unreferenced new entries are being added faster than I am able to verify the existing ones. Should I simply remove all unreferenced entries? Is there a good place where I could request help with referencing or cleaning up this article? Any help is appreciated. I don't think what is proposed at Talk:List_of_conglomerates#Sources is an acceptable solution, since this article is not a disambiguation page and therefore requires references for verification.

Logo Removal

I was trying to edit the UNDP page to remove the UN logo and replace the updated UNDP one. I've managed to put the updated UNDP logo into the info box but cannot remove the incorrect logo.

You are getting this problem because the MediaWiki software only recognises some HTML. To display the image, place [[File:Small_Flag_of_the_United_Nations_ZP.svg|60px]]. For info on other wikicode, visit Wikipedia:Cheatsheet. Island Monkey ^{talk the talk} 14:51, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Actually that <img> tag is rendered code not source code. And the File:Small Flag of the United Nations ZP.svg comes from {{Infobox United Nations}}; that template always shows the UN flag image and has no provision for removing or replacing it. You could ask on User talk:Since 6.18.2011 for an explanation, since that user seems to have ignored your question on the archived help desk page. The user did not sign his or her post, which suggests he or she does not yet have a solid understanding of Wikipedia, so I wouldn't worry too much if you don't get an explanation. You said "…is there much difference between the two?" Wasn't that in reference to "Dari" and "Farsi"? You are lumping together two language groups into one. That could conceivably be offensive to someone. If I am misunderstanding any of this I stand corrected and apologize in advance. But that is my understanding of it. Dari links to Dari (Persian). @Tera:convo is a pretty well-known abbreviation as far as I know, and even someone who doesn't know it would usually understand it by the context. @Bbb, yeah, but I want to make sure I'm not being offensive without my knowledge. When I am offensive, I am normally offensive with full knowledge that I am being offensive. @Bus stop: It's not lumping two language groups (such as Romance or Germanic) together, but asking a native speaker what are the differences between a language that is referred to as court Persian and a language whose name is Persian (Farsi - Parsi - Persis - Persia), and then getting the response that they are basically the same language. :p It also cannot be denied that the language codes are in fact the same for the first two things. When speaking of identities my assumption is that there is significance to an identity. If there is significance to an identity then it follows that there is a significant difference between two identities.

Editing a Deleted Page

Hi, is there a way I can edit a page I have already submitted and that has been deleted due to self-advertising? The source in question, a Youtube video, cannot be used as it appears to be a copyright violation, see Wikipedia:Copyrights#Linking to copyrighted works. These can never be linked to, never mind used as sources. The other issue is that you will need a source that directly supports the text you have written, see WP:No original research. RSS - disputed structure not mosque

I was told I was having a general discussion. I was not. I was pointing out the inherent bias in the term disputed structure.

Wiki should provide as close to the objective truth as possible. The article is written by an RSS-apologist as the use of the said term instead of Mosque makes clear.

He based his justification of the term on a govt. of India link, which doesn't work, so we don't know if it was referring to the Mosque as it existed or the debate over what will replace it.

I then provided 5 links BBC, Guardian, Times, NYT, Washington Post, which all used the term mosque, as well as a google link showing that the commonly accepted term is Mosque.

723,000 search returns refer to the Ayodhya Mosque. 48,000 refer to disputed structure, but many of these seemed to include the term Mosque in relation to it as well.

And what about the fascist basis?

This complaint doesn't really belong here. That said, as near as I can make out, the IP posted a message on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Talk page. His change was reverted and labeled "vandalism" here. The same editor then posted a notice on the Talk page "referring" the IP to Demolition of Babri Masjid. First, the use of the term "vandalism" was wrong. Although not the most coherent message, it couldn't properly be construed as vandalism. Second, the IP was addressing a sentence in the Sangh article that he was saying was incorrect, so, arguably, it wasn't proper to remove the material per WP:TPG. I haven't done anything about it, but I'm tempted to revert the editor who removed the IP's material. I wouldn't mind someone else taking a gander at this first, though. FTR-I have made absolutely NO edits to the article page in question (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh). I only watch it because of the potential for vandalism and POV edits. Maybe what the guy above did would not be considered de-facto "vandalism" to the talk page, but he had added two very large rants to it, both under identical headings, that were full of POV nonsense (as can be seen in the above message from him). I have nothing to do with the naming of the "Disputed Structure" edit, and was trying to circumvent the talk page turning into a war zone, especially since it's obvious that The IP doesn't understand how to cite things on Wikipedia, especially that JSTOR article above. (Though what Mussolini had to do with the Babri Masjid demolition, I have no idea...) Bryonmorrigan (talk) 02:24, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
