That's not a small template.
With the "section" parameter, the "small" parameter works backwards. When you call for a small template, you get a large one, and when you don't call for a small template, you get a small one. {{confusing|section|small=yes}} produces:

By contrast, {{confusing|section}} produces:
This section may be confusing or unclear to readers. |

- @Metropolitan90: The underlying template, {{ambox}}, doesn't recognise "small=yes". The documentation says you have to use "small=left". -- John of Reading (talk) 07:54, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

Replace Obsolete Image
editSir/Ma'am, would like to replace a five year old image/photo (11/15/2008) that is obsolete. I am not the original user of the photo. The image will be replaced by my own personal photo which qualifies as a publicly taken photo of the subject (with their knowledge). The instructions are less than clear on how to do this. - Instructions for uploading photos are at Wikipedia:Uploading images. If you took the photo yourself and hold the copyright you should have no difficulty selecting a suitable licence under which to upload it. Wikipedia:Image tutorial contains instructions on how to add an uploaded image to an article. Before replacing the current image, bear in mind that changes require consensus and that images should only be replaced if th new version improves the illustration of the subject. Don't forget that more than one image is acceptable in an article if they both serve a useful purpose. Karenjc - I appreciate your help and apologize for the multiple post questions (still trying to navigate your process). My goal is to replace an old image/photo with a current one. I was able to upload a current image of Michael Easton in Wikimedia Commons. I am now in File Upload Wizard and can go no further as my account has not been confirmed. Should I request administrator help or can you help me upload? Also, once I am able to upload the new image, will it link or replace the existing image on Michael Easton's Biography page? Help Needed - Page Flagged

I hope you can help me with an issue I've encountered with a Wikipedia page I monitor for a client. This client's main page (General Motors) has been flagged with the following notice:
This article's introduction section may not adequately summarize its contents. To comply with Wikipedia's lead section guidelines, please consider modifying the lead to provide an accessible overview of the article's key points in such a way that it can stand on its own as a concise version of the article. (discuss). (August 2013)
I disagree with the claim that the intro isn't in accordance with Wikipedia's lead section guidelines, since it accurately summarizes much that is in the following sections. Further, I suspect that this is the work of a PR company that has been spamming my client with solicitations to address the issue. Considering that this "flag" appeared on the page at the same time that these solicitations started, it seems a reasonable bet.
My question is twofold:
What steps do I need to take to remove this notice from the top of the page; and Is there any way to identify who placed it on the page?

- This is, I believe, the edit complained of. It was made by 174.21.176.132, whose only edits are to General motors, and to Opel where they also include adding an {{Inadequate lead}} tag. My weakly-held view is that these tags are unjustified. Maproom (talk) 08:42, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- Your client should not edit the article, due to conflict of interest, and as you are working for them, you shouldn't either. You have done exactly the right thing by raising the subject here rather than removing the tags yourself, and if you do wish to change the wording of the article, the place to suggest changes is on the article's talk page. WP:Paid editing isn't banned here, but it's frowned on, and it's doubtful your client would get much benefit from paying a spamming chancer to rewrite the article for them, because their new version would be equally subject to editing by others. I agree with Maproom that the tags don't look particularly well justified. I am going to raise the issue on the talk page with the intention of getting consensus for any changes that need to be made, or removing the tags as incorrect. - Karenjc 10:50, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

RE: missing info on page relating to meaning of word/name 'Kala'
editI have spent over 2 hrs trying to swim through the marsh in figuring out how/where/who to direct my input. I searched for 'meaning of name Kala' on google and received the Wikipedia definition and upon reading it I realized so much was left out. So, I thought I would forward the additional information.
My name is Kala. The particular origin of my name was chosen from Greek mythology. Kala was one of the Greek goddesses. This needs to be included on this page.
Additionally, Kala has very strong roots in the Hawaiian culture; India; and Native American cultures.
To limit it's origins to Hindu, etc. is a disservice and should, keeping with the integrity of Wikipedia, be inclusive of all information available.
FYI: Kala was also the name of Tarzan's ape mother.

- Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, so it has articles on topics, such as people, objects, and concepts. Its objective is not to provide information about the meanings or etymologies of words. Dictionaries do that, although not for proper nouns such as "Kala".
- The article Kāla (time), which I assume you have found, is, in my opinion, badly written. It is about the Hindu deity "Kala"; but its lead paragraph states that it is about the word "Kala". I may correct this, and alter the article so that it is clearly about the deity; but I would prefer this to be done by someone who knows at least a little about Hindu theology. - Kala shows many meanings including Kala (name). Maybe Google directed you to Kalā or Kāla (time) instead. The Google search meaning of Kala links to Kalā at the top for me. We have no control over Google. I don't know why they chose that page. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:22, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Video template
editI guess I have already invented a template for posting official video of our major sporting events. This one:
which is on 2013 World Championships in Athletics – Men's Marathon
but there is no Template formatting. With each of these postings, there will always be the topical component of the appropriate video link. So I don't know how to insert topical information within a template.
The reason I am thinking it needs to be a template is because of layout issues (at least as seen from my browser) when the video template aligns with other templates, its smaller margin and lack of template size formatting allows other template and infobox formatting to overlap text as in 2013 World Championships in Athletics – Women's 5000 metres#Records. I would think a force width or better yet a hidden forced width with blankspace would prevent that kind of error from happening, but I don't see anywhere in the code where widths are set. This is more complext Template/Wikiformatting than I understand. Help needed. Trackinfo (talk) 09:40, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Lists being broken into individual articles for no reason
editCan someone please help me. Not sure who to goto/what to do. See Special:Contributions/درفش_کاویانی Click on the link since the user name is actually in Arabic characters there's no way for me to display the actual user name. Seems user has decided to break every single eclipse from List of eclipse out into individual articles. Nothing is being added, nothing is notable about them, and all the data is already in the relevant List of eclipses of X century listing. Way to many of them to possibly be able to label them all, and secondly it appears the articles where created just to be created, no new information not in the list is presented. - Firstly, I've copied in the username for you. Secondly, I note at least some of these already have deletion templates on, which is the best way to proceed. You could also write on the user's talk page, asking them to stop creating pages until the current deletion discussions are resolved. If they continue, and the pages are deleted by consensus, an administrator may block them from creating pages if you request that of them. drewmunn talk 10:49, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

Above he used the List of Solar Eclipses in 1st century and created an article for each and every single one with the definition of an eclipse and the data from the list, nothing else. In another example he's taken a list he has of supposed jamoats and has run it through I can assume some type of bot and now has created hundreds of pages of one line X is a jamoat in X. Upon looking the list is giving a 404 error. He's done the same with List of Iranian Films, using the list running it through something and creating articles for each and every single film. Most only being one line, and of course with no references/notability anywhere in the articles. What's strange is the user appears to be an admin on the Persian Wiki. - Begin by asking them to cease on their talk page. Explain why, and ask them not to create any new articles until the disputes over the ones they have already created have been cleared up. - I try not to comment on disputes I'm not personally involved in, but provide options for their resolution. However, I don't believe individual solar eclipses pass notability, as they're basically all similar enough to be describable in one article. If something notable happened because of a particular eclipse, then it may warrant it's own article. However, most pass without incident. From what I've seen of this discussion (and the mention at your talk page), no editors are biting you; we're simply trying to resolve this as easily as possible. For now, I'd suggest you don't create any more articles until the deletion discussions have been closed on the ones you have already created. If you feel this is not a fair request, feel free to ask an administrator or uninvolved mediator for their opinion. They appear to be riddled with errors and virtually useless. The stubs on the jamoats and places in Iran seem to have been made by similar methods, using User:DarafshBot/template and User:DarafshBot/template2 respectively. Those that I have glanced at seem to be adequately made, to have a reference, and to be a useful addition to the project. - The bot (user with the word "bot" in the name) is blocked, and was never submitted for review, so it's not known if it would have been accepted, but it seems unlikely. Such automatic creation would no doubt require the template content pre-patrolling, and the user/bot having auto-reviewing enabled, neither of which the user or bot has achieved. drewmunn talk 12:52, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

I agree that articles like Solar_eclipse_of_23_August_100 are way too small, and there will never be any material to expand it. It should stay grouped with similar eclipses. Eclipses should only have their own articles when there is something particularly notable about the specific eclipse. (maybe an eclipse that happened during an important battle, that fulfilled a notable prophecy, that caused a notable panic somewhere, etc?) In the English wikipedia, an individual eclipse has no notability of its own, we are not going to make thousands of separate article for each eclipse since the dawn of time, where each article is 99% copy/pasted from each other, and the only difference is the date and duration! If an eclipse only appears in astronomical catalogs and lists of eclipses, then most probably it doesn't have notability of its own.I see that eclipse articles are solved.

- About making articles that are too small, see WP:STUB: "If a stub has little verifiable information, or if its subject has no apparent notability, it may be deleted or be merged into another relevant article." Articles that are too short should be merged back into the list (advice: you can make a redirect instead of deleting).
- About Iranian films, if the only reference is a list of films, and there are no other sources, then you should only make an entry in a list of Iranian films.
- About jamoats. Administrative units are usually considered notable enough on its own (but people might get angry if you make lots of very small copy/pasted articles where the only difference is the name; make sure to add an infobox with surface, population, etc. Maybe a list of villages inside the unit). Villages are usually considered as automatically notable, you only need a good reference to verify that it exists (an official geographical survey, a governmental list of villages, an archaeological sourc saying that a village once existed in that location).
- I'm looking at 27 August: first he made exactly 1 new article per second, later he made rows of exactly 4 edits per minute (with some variations). This looks like an unapproved automated tool. He needs to stop his tool, and read carefully Wikipedia:Bot policy. If he continues like this, he will eventually get reported to WP:ANI and get himself into trouble.

- for Jamatas of Tajikestan and Villages of Iran, i use the template of User:DarafshBot/template and User:DarafshBot/template2 but i dont run a bot. i just use the template and creat articles, manually. i member of BAG in fa.wiki and know this task that runing bot on my account, need approval.

- Per WP:COI, you can't add information on a subject which you are closely affiliated. Additionally, the subject must pass the notability guidelines. If these are not met, then the subject's not right for inclusion at the moment. I hope this helps. drewmunn talk 13:56, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

- Right. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a football league. We have millions of articles and correctly report the name of the league in the article about that league. The article has the reference http://www.proleague.ae/en/news/new-name.html which confirms the name. Hiya!
In an attempt to clean up the Pay section in general, and the discharge bonus paragraph in particular; I traced the text, more or less verbatim, to this page: http://www.roman-empire.net/army/army.html Which is, to my understanding, a big no-no for Wikipedia.
Now, in a further attempt to actually source the lot of it, I came across some books on Google Books. However, I'm not sure if these qualify as referable sources in Wikipedia and, assuming they are, how to properly cite them (book citation? Google books link? Both? Neither? Etc.):
Could use some assistance in this regard.

- Note that the section of interest was added some time ago in 2006. In such cases, there is a possibility that some other site copied from Wikipedia. - You can link by adding two square brackets before a section, and two after. For instance, I could like to "example" by typing
[[example]]
. If you don't want to use the link's name as the displayed text, you can add the text you want to display after a vertical bar. For instance, if I wanted to link to "example", but wanted the text of the link to say "this tutorial", I'd type[[example|this tutorial]]
. Images are added just the same as links, but by appending the term "File:" to the beginning. For instance, type[[File:2010 Sonic Screwdriver.png]]

Looking for help with Accenture article

Hello, I'm currently working on behalf of Accenture to improve two articles related to the company here on Wikipedia: Accenture's own article, and the article for their chairman and CEO, Pierre Nanterme. Because of my financial COI, I reach out to volunteer editors for their help, and boy has it been tough finding folks for these two articles, despite posting in a number of locations, including Paid Editor Help. User:FeralOink was helping a bit on Accenture, but they seem to be busy now, and one of the outstanding requests is something I'd like another opinion about anyway. I'm thus reaching out here, in the hopes that someone might be able to take a look at my requests and, if they seem reasonable, implement them. - As a general rule, any question that I answer here from a user who has a red linked username, I give a talk back message to because I figure they are possibly unfamiliar with how to get back here to the responses. - Special:Contributions/Stevenkakowski shows your question here is the only saved edit by your account. You haven't edited any deleted pages either. Sometimes there is an error message or a second step after clicking "Save page". It's also possible you clicked "Show preview" instead of Save.
